Avi's breaks/cries have always been one of my favorite parts of when he sings. Incredible.
Avi's voice is like a warm hug.
Poor Scott, he's the kind of singer that needs to move his arms when they sing. He was digging his hands into those chairs so hard.
This is totally one of my faves. The emotion Kirsten brings and the climax kills me and gives me chills every time (she does the same in Amazing Grace). And I love how the vocal accompaniment sounds like strings.
Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody are a must to listen to!
So glad you got to this one, Travis. This is the song that made me fall in love with Kirstie's voice. The passion and heartbreak she's emoting is just riveting. It speaks to the tragedy of any relationship that cannot be saved. It also foreshadows our loss of Avi to PTX, which makes it a double whammy, and always tugs at my heartstrings. A great reaction, as always.
Part of why I love this video of theirs so much is that it has one of the rarest of things: A Kirstie/Avi duet, basically. Not through the full song, but enough that it pleases me enormously.
After watching this a few minutes ago, which I loved, I listened to Coffee in Bed after you made that comment. I listened to the official video and live on the Late, Late show. I can see why you listened to that song over and over on the way to work. But this Say Something is really a fantastic video. Musically these five artists are unmatched. Their harmonies, timing and vocal embellishments are just superb. I started listening to them in 2016 when I came across their Sing Off videos. I grew up listening to the Hi-Los and the Four Freshmen. ( I guess that tells you how old I am) Pentatonix is way above both of those groups. I listen to thee guys every day. Yes I am a Pentaholic !! !! !!
Yes it’s one of my favorites. And you are fast becoming one of my favorite reactors! I spend entirely too much time on RUclips and watching people discover my favorite artists always lifts my mood. Keep it up with PTX.
Thank you ! Hopefully I’ll keep climbing my way to the top of your list ! 💜🤟🏼
Travis is definitely one of my favorite reactors! 🙂
In the last couple of years, Kirstie has really kinda taken over this group and is getting leads ALL the time now and writing a lot of original songs of her own. The further you get along in reacting to them, you'll see and really appreciate how far she has come.
I absolutely love it when Pentatonix keeps the arrangements fairly simple, their individual voices are so powerful that the simplicity seems to really showcase that power, thank you for this great reaction.
This was certainly captivating and breathtaking. They weave their voices into a tapestry of magic. Their voices are clear and pure. Kevin. You have such talent - sing, play and make percussion ...you all are magic. Thanks, Travis
This is my favorite of Kirstie's solo moments. She manages to keep a vulnerable look on her face even when singing so powerfully. She is incredible. I just wanted to hug her after this and tell her "It's going to be okay" and "Fantastic job!" at the same time.
This one is one of my absolute faves. I could listen to it on repeat for days
I will never get over this song, I cry every time. The song itself is so raw and the cello is so beautifully deep and melancholy. And that gorgeous contribution from Ari just reached into my chest and removed my beating heart. So powerful in a completely different way than The Prayer and Amazing Grace. Wow…
Yes, this song was breathtaking!!! I love when you rewind because I love the same parts of the song that you did. I absolutely adore your honest, genuine reactions. And you definitely are a true PENTAHOLIC. 💕
💙💙💙
It's so amazing to experience these songs again for the first time through someone else's eyes. Thank you. Well done.
I love what they do with La La Latch. Kirstin sounds great and takes the lead in Rather Be.
I just love your reaction to this one! You actually FEEL the emotion they embody in their songs! Thank you!!
I hope you note that while Kevin is so beautifully playing the heart out of that cello he's also still beatboxing, doing the drum rhythm. People say why doesn't Kevin sing? Because he's already very busy. lol
Please listen to their original "Run to you", or the Wizard of Ahhs. The first will make you tear up, and the second will make you laugh with delight.
Definitely coming soonish!
Yes to.both
Agreed!
Yes to both
Agreed! 🎼. . . Just a lion on the cold hard ground. . .🎼 🦁❤️
U should absolutely most definitely do their Popspring concert 2016, it has 3 of their original songs and it's AMAZING and u get to see them live.
The Sound of Silence and Amazing Grace
The reason us Pentaholics watch reactions is because we enjoy hearing another person catching the beautiful subtle touches of PTX. Always enjoy the upgrades of covers but absolutely live for all the originals because they are beyond anything I ng else out there. And I am a music nerd, bass singer, music lover(2tb of music I carry around). Do more and enjoy.
Amazing grace is also amazing. Gave me goosebumps and tears
PTX ,, The Sound of Silence
This is a perfect example of how PTX transforms a song to make it so much better than the original. Great reaction, of course.
If you loved this one you’ll love Shallow. For fun listen to Aha live from The Star Vista Singapore. It’s a raw copy but wow! Avi blows speakers and Mitch is incredible! Havana is one of my favorites.
I have to totally agree 👍 with this recommendation! 💖
Yes, yes "Shallow" please! It was first song, which comes to my mind when you spoke about Kristen being lead and Kevin's cello (it' called Beyonce btw 😝). Mitch's has in this his little solo too and it is mindblowing 😍 see for yourself!
Kirstie absolutely slays it, if you want to hear that beautiful voice again, listen to her saying shallow, it's absolutely beautiful. :-)
Kevin plays Cello, Saxophone and Piano. In addition, he now sings! Avi and Kevin were roommates and Avi taught him.
YES!! One of my favorite's of theirs!! I SO love the part when it goes quiet then Scott comes in and they all follow..I replay it like 10 times every time i listen to it
This is the best I've seen from them. That's was just AWESOME!!!!
Original Run to You is simply amazing. Also Mary Did You Know will bring chills every time!
Travis, I am really enjoying your PTX and Superfruit reactions. Just think, you have 10 years worth of videos to catch up on, and we will gladly join you on your journey.
Ok you need to listen to Aha! (Live in Singapore!!!) Mitch is CRAZY in it!!!
Yes yes yes!
The Star Vista. It has to be the Star Vista.
@@mmg8823 YES!!
make sure you listen to the original aha! cover before you listen to the star vista live performance so that you can get the full effect !!
Kevin is not only playing cello, but he’s beatboxing while doing it… that’s just awesomeness!!
So happy that you did this one! I am also really glad that you pointed out that beautiful harmony building with each person. It gets me each and every time. They put so much emotion in this one. Also that cry in Kirsten's voice is amazing.
So good !!!!
Kevin playing his cello and Avi doing a duet with it at the beginning...priceless...One of my fav Original PTX covers....Avi & Kirsty singing their hearts out with such emotion....just wow. You just went back and re watched Avi....Thank you, thank you, thank you. You made my day...I agree 100%. Travis this is the best 'Reaction' that I've seen you do. It was a joy to share your reaction....Oceans of love from Australia.
Thank you ! 💜💜💜💜💜💜
@@TeaTimeWithTravis I've just posted this on Avi's Fan page.....got to share the love lol
This is the first song on my PTX favorites playlist that I listen to on repeat every single night as I sleep. The build, Kirstin's tone and the cry in her voice, the harmonies! Definitely a favorite of mine.
Her voice sends chills down my body !
ALSO... "THANK YOU" is such an AMAZING original song that really speaks to the past 2 years... you'll love it.
One of my favorite PTX covers is Can’t Help Falling In Love, which was a huge hit for Elvis. Mitch does it absolute justice!
Hallelujah, say something and imagine and sound of silence are my favourite s 💗 please check Kevin s song ' down ' and Avi s version of ' lean on me ' its insane how strong his bass is 💗 great reaction 😊💗🇬🇧
I think this might be my favorite of theirs. It's definitely the one that makes me feel the most. I think it was also the first time Avi sang in his higher register, and fans went crazy for it.
I absolutely love ur ptx reactions. Most ppl react and I feel like they are just going through the motions, but with u I see u genuinely feel and love the music, and it’s absolutely awesome. Thank u for all u do
❤️
Thank you soooo much. This is my favorite go to. Avi makes me cry every time and from his solo on, well let's just say it's not pretty😢😢😢 I love your reactions. Their song Thank You written by Scott and his partner Mark Manio. Absolutely beautiful song. Great reaction 😊
Avi majored in opera and classical music. He really has a very emotional quality in his voice. Scott wrote a song called Light in the Hallway and insisted Avi be the lead for that very reason. Kirstin has an amazing voice and you can also hear more of her angelic voice in "Rather Be". Kevin always blows me away. He's just perfect. Please react to their second Grammy win, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. No lyrics...no problem says PTX. ;) thanks for your wonderful reaction.
I only learned about these young people. The very first song I heard was "Hallelujah", blew me away and of course I'm now a Pentaholic with side of Fries. But seriously I've been watching their evolution and growth as performers and into adulthood. Their absolute best, in my opinion, performance has been "Amazing Grace". No one was seeking to out shine the others, not that they do that. But it seemed to me that in singing that song each of them took their own feelings for whatever higher power they belive in and sang what sounded to me like a love song. Each of them seemed to be àt the pinnacle of their abilities.
We will never kill you for replaying anything by PTX!
One if the things that PTX excels at is their use of dynamics. Travis, this was an absolute delight, I got to relive my first viewing of this through you. ❤️❤️
This is my fav PTX I get chills every time. PTX knows how to bring out emotion. Top three emotion songs this, Praying, and Hallelujah.
This is the moment I've been waiting for! I've never heard a single PTX song that didn't blow me away, but this has been my favorite since I first discovered them four or five years ago. The harmonies are sublime. I'd never heard the original, so for me PTX set the standard.
It was also only the second song of theirs I ever heard, the first being "Mary, Did You Know?". That's the one that hooked me for life. Their harmonies in that one are out of this world as well.
Definitely one my faves. Avi's emotional solo and syncing tones with the cello, Kirsten's emotional belt and awesome singing, and the background vocals... hard to not shed a tear on this one. Great reaction!
Love this one more than the original and that's saying a lot because I love Christina's voice.
My friend....it's never too late to get in the PTX rabbit hole :) you will find that they have a lot of longevity with the fan base. we'll always watch PTX (and variations thereof) reactions LOL
Aaron!! My honeyyyyyy ❤️❤️❤️ how've you been?? I miss you! Message me on discord!
@@Spaceydoodle I'm hanging in there....I'm not on the discord server anymore. I just was there for a bit to check things out. I'm trying to pull back from so many servers I am a part of LOL
@@fredneckteddy awww okay. would love to talk to you more. glad you're hanging in there.
Aren’t we lucky to be alive and get to experience the beauty PTX puts into the world???
You need to see Kevin’s solo work. He’s amazing.
I love avis voice he's so amazing ! If you wanna see more AVI. Light in the hallway is beautiful and super underrated
Love it! Love you! Pentaholic 4sure!💜💜💜🎻🎻🎻
Listening to Kevin end it the way he does gets me every time. It's beautiful.
Like others have said Run to You is an amazing original as is Love Again, Water, Cracked and Can't Sleep Love. You can see the last 3 live in their Pospring performance. Love Love Love this song and your reaction to it!!! See you in the next one.
I love how Kirsten emotes into the song with her mournful cry, gorgeous! 😳
I'm so glad you reacted to this cover! This is probably one of my all-time favorite Pentatonix songs but not many people in my life seem to know it exists. Thank you so much!
Might be time for you to check out Aha! Singapore, Live at the Star Vista!! It’s a video from a fan’s cell phone but it’s still amazing! Mitch and Avi slay this song and has the ultimate Mitch slap!
Love your enthusiasm. Everything they do is so lovely. 🤗
So far my favorite upgrade is Can You Feel the Love Tonight. No shade towards Sir Elton but PTX's version is fire. It feels epic which definitely suits the film.
Yes, Kevin is ridiculously talented. Realize that he is doing vocal percussion while playing the cello!!
I dislike when reactors fake or exaggerate their reactions... you can tell when they are saying what they think we want to hear. You are so genuine and refreshing and a complete joy ❤ thank you!
Precision perfection. This is my favorite cover
It was so fantastic! Loved your reaction even with a the pauses.
One of my all time favorites! They really bring all the feels.
Thank you checking this one out! It's so fun watching your journey with them.
I am so in love with these guys, especially love their original songs. Check out Love Again, Run to You, Sing, Can't Sleep Love, Love Me When I Don't, Happy Now, oooh heck everything on their original music albums is worth listening to.
I'm so enjoying listening to your reactions. I always listen multiple times focusing on a different voice each time. Totally amazing, Especially love. Scott's harmony in this song - one of my favorites.
It's delightful watching you fall in love with this group - your ptx playlist will just get longer and longer. So many good ones - Shallow, Dancing on my own, Waving through a Window and so many more!
Kevin is classically trained on cello..he also plays trumpet..I know I’ve already recommended it once..but Kevin’s version of Down is a masterpiece! Loved the emotion in your reaction..
Trumpet? I know he plays the saxophone...
Yes it is saxophone. Check out his appearance on NPR From the Top.
He doesn't play trumpet. He plays the Saxophone
@@marysilveus7576 ok..my bad..
Don't sweat it. He probably plays trumpet too. He plays keyboard but nobody remembers or credits him for that.
I love how you notice all the nuances of Pentatonix. I must say I don't have 1 favorite, but when people ask me about my favorite, this one always comes to mind in like top 5. I love this version and I've been listening to it for years. So glad you are on this journey - it came when you needed it. You aren't late - you get to react to them for us! :)
I highly recommend checking out Kevin Olusola Down cover. Fairly certain you will love it! Kevin solo is an awesome and incredible journey! Also, Change by Avi Kaplan. Whew! So much talent!
Down is totally amazing! Pure genius.
Yes I second that!! Down is amazing. Kevin is genius!!
This was the song that sold ptx for me, too. I LOVE Avis singing here an the stacking part is one of my favorite parts in all of their songs. Your reaction is very similar to mine that first time. Also, the recommendations in the comments are great! Really looking forward to your journey through the ptx youtube rabbit hole. :D
I adore you for getting as excited as I get watching them! Kirstin is pure pain in this song! She just emits the pain in the words! Emotional for sure! Thank you for appreciating them as much as I do!
I love your reactions Travis! I think you would really like their original "Light in the Hallway" because like this one, it is simple and slower but the harmonies are just beautiful and Avi takes the lead. You can just search any of their live performances of it. They always do it without mics!!
Two more originals for you: “Sing” and “Love Again.” They also did a fantabulous mash up called “La La Latch.”
Yes to La La Latch it's soo good.
I love 'Thank you'
This is truly one of my favorites, and certainly my favorite showcasing Kirstie. All the feels happen every time I hear it! That section where they each come in...breathtaking! And what better way to end it than with the amazing Kevin?? Thanks for your genuine reaction!
"Radioactive" with Lindsey Sterling and "Shallow" both feature KO with his Cello. This gentleman is a true Renaissance man - true tenor, plays cello and sax, speaks English, Mandarin and some Spanish, graduate of Yale with emphasis on Pre-med, husband of Leigh and father of Kaia. I think that covers it.
You have become one of my favorite PTX reactors. I look forward to seeing your reactions!
I think you are definitely ready to watch one of their most viewed live performances
“Aha Live Singapore The Star Vista”,
Also known as the where is Kevin video. Kevin is putting his cello away when the video begins, and the person who is recording it does not pan to him when he rejoins the group on stage, but u can definitely hear him!
I know you will absolutely love it!
Breathtaking is the perfect word to describe this song! I know what you mean though…after each song I say that’s my favorite (until I hear the next one) lol
Great reaction. For more Kevin on cello action, listen to Shallow, Perfect, Radioactive (with Lindsey Stirling on violin), Dancing On My Own, and Thank You (an original with another instrument surprise).
Don’t forget Seasons Of Love!
This knocked me out too. Wizard of Ahs features Kristen- amazing. And more recently, "Seasons Of Love" from the musical Rent that they recorded on July 4th on PBS. Plus Favorite Things from Sound of Music will blow you away!!!
I totally agree with your reaction. Beautiful, genius vocal arrangement changing the lead parts around but still with the same emotion, & did I say beautiful? So many little vocal surprises. I also really love the part where they go to 1 singer & then build by adding 1 more at a time, but my favorite part is actually at the beginning rather than when it builds to the end with Kirstie & then Kevin coming in. Scott & Avi singing lyrics in harmony with nothing else in the background is beautiful in a way we don't normally get to hear (since those 2 rarely get paired), & even though it's short I really love it.
You have to see Kevin's solo work, starting with Marion Hill's "Down"
I love your honest,emotional reactions!
Love your reactions Travis!! You are true and honest and I totally enjoy watching!! Keep up the good work!! Cheers!!
So enjoying your journey with Pentatonix! Love your reactions!!
Great reaction! Pentatonix' singing this song absolutely reaches into my soul and breaks my heart ever time I see this video!
I suggest you react
to KZ Tandingan on
her rendition to the
same song at China
2018--Say Something
YOU WILLBE BLOWN
AWAY !
It's a beautiful arrangement. Don't wait too long to do Bohemian Rhapsody which was 5 years in the making and Can You Feel The Love Tonight. Both MIND BLOWERS!!! I enjoy watching your reactions sooooo much!
Pure brilliance. Phenomenal performance. Loved Avi and Kirstie
This is one of my favorites. Love the passion they put in this song. Please check out their original Run to You
Soon :)
This one gets me every time. Glad you loved it as much as I do
Rather Be is Kirstie's masterpiece if you want to hear her kill it.
Love her voice!!! So sweet and delicate.
I love this better than the original! They poured so much emotion into that performance. Thank you for your reaction!
