When they are in tour he always a moment on his own playing different arraignments before the rest of the group joins him again

Great reaction, except that you cut it right in the middle of a few really epic parts, like Avi's bass drop and Kirstie belting. Suggestion - if you cut it, it helps if you go back just a couple of seconds, so you keep the flow. Otherwise, I really like all your reactions. Looking forward to more!
Agreed! Jayveetv cuts out the high note on Bohemian Rhapsody and it is terribly done - even though I love most of his reaction videos.

It's amazing that Avi's voice sounds like cello especially when he's humming! And it harmonizes with Kevin's cello so well.
When I first heard this one, what I thought was cello was actually Avi and Kevin was doing pizzicato!

It's a cello. Kevin was already a world-class cellist before he joined PTX, and he brings out the cello on a few of their songs. And it's still Kevin beatboxing. He invented what he calls "cello-boxing", beatboxing and playing cello at the same time (that's actually what drew the group's attention to him when they were searching for a beatboxer). Kirstie absolutely slays the lead on this song...that angelic voice singing these solemn lyrics is a perfect combination. Avi has actually released three solo albums now (two since he left the group) and they're all fantastic. Very deep and personal songs. Kirstie has also released an enjoyable pop solo album, and Mitch & Scott released an album under their alter-egos Superfruit.
The cello gives this song life.

I had a friend who plays viola. I thought it was smaller than violin.

If you want more of the solo work, Mitch and Scott work together under the name Superfruit and they've got some really fun stuff in there. Kevin is always beatboxing, but also plays cello, oftentimes at the same time.

When they were preparing for the Sing Off, they discovered Kevin on youtube, playing cello and beatboxing. They, like all of us since, were amazed, and invited him to join them for the competition.

We call it cello boxing. The cello is a great talent and then his beat boxing is insanely good. Both are impressive but joining the,m together is very difficult. I’m with you. They are amazing. Yes, it's a cello, the best stringed instrument. I have a son and 2 grandkids play the cello and one granddaughter who plays the double bass. She can handle it - she's 5'10" and still growing.

I do love this version of Say Something. And the Avi-Scott duets are always so beautiful. They appear in a few songs like Mary Did You Know and I think in Little Drummer Boy, probably others that don’t come to mind right now.

Hi Bayo! This is such a beautiful and emotional rendition of an absolutely beautiful and emotional song, it’s pretty much impossible not to get emotional. There! I said it 3 times. “No it’s not Avi doing the beatbox, it’s Kevin!” Yeah... He was not doing enough so “Hey guys, lets make Kevin sing as well”. Sure! Why not! Lol. OMG! **sigh**.

I do love this song, but I wish there was more hope out there, not for myself but for those who are truly struggling with life. I’m lifting your situation up to the Father of Lights. This is one of my favorite Pentatonix renditions. It’s so clean, spare and indelibly sad and powerful. The cello adds so much and Kirstie’s beautiful and passionate vocals are heart-breaking. This presentation clearly shows their virtuosity in what they do. I love them SO MUCH!

It is definitely music you can "feel". That is what I love. I walk around singing (badly) this song all day. I also love music that just makes you move/dance. That is why music is so universal because it just can affect you in so many different ways, no matter the genre, language, etc. Great reaction. Just face it, all their songs are favorites all for their own merits! LOL

So Kevin coined the term cello-boxing. Basically beat boxing while playing the cello. He is super freaking talented.
They all have solo or colabs out there too. Scott and Mich have superfruit too, more relaxed and some stuff that is more for fun, highly recommend their hip-hop goes Broadway (both 1 and 2)
I absolutely LOVE Avi's solo work, he is so amazing and versatile! I wish you had done reactions to what you watched/heard of his!!! But hopefully there are some that you could still do reactions to. Here's a list to consider.....

This is a gorgeous arrangement!! And as someone who plays Violin (Btw Kevin is playing on a Cello) I can play this song and it is so emotional to play as well as hear.

My opinion about this version here is that Pentatonix has created a musical masterpiece which gives me goosebumps every time i listen to it. Kirstie's vocal is so moving and haunting at the same time...ugh so good!! Same for your channel as well; You are a kind soul.

The blank stares, the look of the video, how still they are, the RAW emotion in their voices. Honest to me, this come across at the devastating feeling you get when you first break up with somone and you are still not sure why they left. They portrayed the song expertly, and I loved watching your reaction.
Beatbox always is Kevin (you should react to his celloboxing). Avi does other effects besides the bass.

Great reaction! I knew you'd love this one. Someone probably already posted this, but Kevin had put up videos of him "celloboxing", and that's how Mitch, Kirstin & Scott found him before they went on The Sing Off. Also, just a technical note: when you're pausing in the middle of a note or musical phrase it would be helpful to rewind back five or ten seconds when you're ready to listen again, otherwise you lose the impact of some of the more powerful moments (the end of this piece where Kirstin's in the middle of a note during the crescendo/build to the end of the song). :) Keep posting & we'll keep watching (happily!). Glad you seem to be feeling a bit better.

Kevin plays cello AND beatboxes drums. Avi wanders around in the basement sometimes sounding just like the cello sometimes sounding like Scott, now and then sounding like a base guitar.

There are 2 other big acapella groups on YT that are phenomenal, and you neeed to watch them to get a better understanding of the genre. Those groups are Home Free and Voiceplay, and trust me, they’ve done some songs that you just cannot miss. If you start reacting to Home FRee, you will definitely draw in The Home Fries (Home Free fans). Home Free can sing anything, but they are all southern and do do a lot of classic country, but even reactors who arent huge fans of country music absolutely adore them. Voiceplay is more similar to Pentatonix, but they are also completely different. For Home Free, you must start with “Ring Of Fire- Featuring Avi Kaplan.” Yes you read that right, AVI sings in hat, and it is astonishing. Both of those groups have bass singers who can go toe to toe with AVi, any day. For Voiceplay, please start with “Oogie Boogie song” and you will be absolutely blown away. After that, those fans will come over and recommend tons of songs for you.

They all have solo projects. You already know about Superfruit which is Scott's and Mitch's project. Please check out Kevin Olusola's awesome KO RUclips channel. Start with "Down". Scott Hoying's channel is pretty awesome too. He started it before Pentatonix and continued to post on it until two years ago. Heck, check all of their RUclips channels even if you don't react.
Shallow~ Kevin plays the cello and cello boxes in that song too. Very powerful vocals too.
The premise for this video is they are a picture. That’s why they’re all trying really hard not to move. (Scott is gripping the back of the chairs for dear life trying not to “hand sing”.)

Fun fact: When Pentatonix came together as a group it was originally Scott, Mitch, Kirstie. They found Avi through a friend and Kevin through his YT videos of him playing cello and beatboxing. :)

Kevin is amazing with the celloboxing, that’s what Kevin has called it, he is the first person to combine cello playing and beatboxing at the same time, it’s how Scott and Ben Bram the arranger that helps them behind the scenes found Kevin, they found him here on RUclips and asked him if he would be the beatboxer in the group Pentatonix, and they sometimes let him do the celloboxin, Scott has now adding the piano in the song Thank You. That was the first time they has a piano in a song. Kevin has played the cello a few times on a few songs
