    I like the way you guys work, nice tidy site 👍.

      I’ve always been a bit of a stickler for keeping sites tidy, if you leave a mess others just add to the mess, it is better for health and safety plus it represents you care.

    Hi, Great video, Thanks for sharing, Question on this, Who usually installs the drainage and waste pipework and is this drainage detailed on a drawing. Is there much of a difference between block & beam and raft foundations,

    • @developinghomes
      @developinghomes  3 месяца назад

      We install our own drainage but it is the groundworkers job. It is detailed on the drawings but we usually have to alter it as the architects don’t always know what they are doing.
      A raft is cast in one concrete slab whereas the block and beam are installed on a strip foundation

    What about radon barrier?

    • @developinghomes
      @developinghomes  Месяц назад +1

      We don’t install radon barriers, just DPM above the concrete before the insulation and flow screed go down

    How do you compact the hardcore in the middle of the raft? Seems easy when its flat but looks like it will be a nightmare trying to compact on a 45 degree angle?

    • @developinghomes

      We use a sit on roller to do the front and back then a whacker plate on the sides. We did but the stone in as one big slab, rolled it in layers then removed the trenches where the mesh cages sit

    Great videos - have you worked out a comparison of building 350mm walls (150cavity) with full fill insulation vs 300mm (100mm cavity) with recticel 90mm rigid boards? I have a plot that's tight for space so trying to decide if to keep room as big as possible or if it's going to be double the cost for example? 🤔🙏

      @developinghomes  9 месяцев назад +1

      This one’s still on old regs, about to build a couple of sites out next year in the new regs so should be able to compare.
      We mostly do timber frame so the insulation has changed from 140mm crane therm to 80mm ridged board, definitely more costly

    Do you typically use a waterproof membrane when laying the slab?

    • @developinghomes
      @developinghomes  5 месяцев назад +1

      We put a waterproof membrane on top of the concrete slab then insulation then the floor screed

    What’s would you say the average cost off a raft foundation is? Per square metre
