if you like journey, you might wanna check out the later game by the same studio, basically their current main thing, -sky children of the light, its a very curious game, as it implements the aesthics of journey, into more of a social space, rather then a game, it has some basic playability, like interacting with spirtis and looking for wing improvements, but ulimately the fun of that game comes from meeting people and making friends, they even organize digital concerts there, i think currently sky holds the record for largest digital gathering ever held by atendee count, and they have been beating it every year for like 3 years in a row. only negative thing is, its really grindy if you want the good cosmetics. check it out, its a interesting game.
Little gator game was my most absolutely favorite recent short title I played. If u love a short hike...try Little gator game. It's such a amazing time.
I really love NaissanceE as it was the only game whose setting took my breath away. The world felt oppresive and abandoned and the game tells very little but shows so much. I really wish more games try to emulate the level of scale I experienced when playing NaissanceE as it felt like I was in a trance the whole way through
I have a big backlog of games that I intend to play, but what holds me back from a lot of them is whether or not I want to commit to 40-50 hours of game play in the moment. This is why I like also having good games where I can beat them in a day or less, it doesn’t feel like a huge commitment. That’s not to say I don’t like big games and don’t want to play them, it’s just nice to have good options for shorter games too.
I don't know about you but for me as I got older, I liked long games less and less especially ones that have grindey repetitive or generic things happening. I can stomach some of it if there is a compelling narrative but it has to be one of those plots where I want to see what happens next. I'm going to check out A Short Hike because I have not heard of it.
I still like longer games, but I find that the bar has gotten much higher in terms of which games I will put that time into. I used to be able to sink dozens of ours into game that I thought were just okay, but not anymore. It's part of the reason I am struggling to finish Tears of the Kingdom 😅
I'm the same. The older I get, the less interested I am in sinking a ton of time into longer video games--with a few weird exceptions, like somehow putting over 1,000 hours into Kenshi.
I don't know if my attention span is getting shorter or what, but the older I get the more I find it difficult to stick with one game for more than 20 hours. I make an exception for games like Kenshi or Crusader Kings 2, which have enough potential for emergent gameplay that I find it easy to sink hundreds of hours into them, but otherwise I just find myself putting more time into other things. Mostly worldbuilding, but I've also made forays into visual novels.
Was there a poll somewhere? EDIT: You covering Pokémon would be great! I love to hear critiques from people I respect, as they often get my imagination going on how to improve these titles. Specially one as stagnant and full of potential as this franchise!! Though, I've been thinking lately.. that maybe PKMN's current combat system is a bigger problem than I believed at first. It works great against other Players in a competitive setting.. but as an "RPG", I don't think there is anywhere to take it and is a detriment for storytelling and Player-generated moments that are memorable (even more so on a non-linear open world) 🤔 PKMN is THE franchise I'm most disappointed in over the years.. but is also one I would have a hard time "fixing" if I were to be given the chance (hypothetically). Anyway, if you ever do, I'll be here to listen!
There was a poll at the end of the last video :) Pokemon is a tough one for me...I have always liked the franchise but I think I am too casual a fan to have substantive criticism on it. Back when I was just doing written reviews I wrote one for Sword and Shield, where my main problems were the complete lack of challenge and totally uninspiring story. I did like the Wild Areas and thought Dynamax was a fun gimmick...but like I said I don't have the encyclopedic knowledge of the series that true fans do, so I don't feel like my criticisms are as credible. I want to play Arceus at some point but haven't had the chance - the combat chances seem like a step in the right direction for sure.
@@Command_B Haha, I see. I'm sure you'll still be capable of putting a proper critique if you really wanted to. BotW was a game like no other and your overview of it was (I feel) very on point and proper. But do what motivates you, as that always produces the better content.
@@KelvinWarren-eh9jp It certainly has a niche appeal, and I can't say I loved it either, "overrated" isn't the right word, as its audience is pretty limited.
As a working adult with adhd, I have a great appreciation for good short games that just focus on doing one or two things very well.

Journey unfortunately isn't on switch. And that's usually my go to to play these style games
I don't have hours and hours to spend on long games that just grind. This is great info you're presenting. Subscribed :)

@@Command_B Maybe as you get older you will be like me want shorter more memorable games.
Fr, sometimes I just wanna get onto other games. I might just not 100% comeplete botw as it is taking way too long to even just get all the shrines

0:07 I’m sorry but I heard something else there 💀
Journey is still the only perfect game ever made
Bruhhhh, I was one day late 😭😭😭
Anyways I found a game like Untitled Goose and I have to say it is an example of an overrated game. It should not be worth $20 for its playing time.

@Command_B lmao you're welcome, man!
Im someone who need a long game , i don't bother with games that have a short story or lack of progression.
Or are you? Try this game is the point of the video.
@ahmedronaldokahn2352 Oh I am , I have played a few short games that while yes were fun they didn't satisfy me the way an epic 80hr jrpg gives me .
