I recently watched the film and was impressed with the performances. The acting was strong, and the video quality was excellent. The actor who played the sheriff delivered a standout performance. While the story wasn't particularly groundbreaking, it was still believable and engaging.
I was 14 when this came out, and I loved horror at the time. This one holds up, with a late 70's feel. Takes me back. Nick Mancuso always hits his mark, talented guy. He's got great seasoned and newbie back up here. Chilling!
For those who may be watching this film for the first time, please note that "vampire" bats which are very small, very, very rarely bite humans, they feed primarily on domestic livestock, wild mammals and birds but their bite usually goes unnoticed by the animal, they certainly don't kill it. This said, they can spread rabies if the bat is itself infected. People who care for bats who are injured must be vaccinated against rabies, which is just a safeguard for the great majority don't carry the disease. So if one day, you were to come across a bat which is injured, first of all, please don't kill it, don't pick it up, and call a rescue centre. Remain close to the bat till a rescuer arrives to protect it from eventual attacks from other animals. Thank you.
Bats are SO cool. Kept a little brown bat for most of one Summer, until her wing healed. Interesting. They do immeasurable good. Kept bat boxes and never needed a bug zapper or chemical pesticides for my garden. Their guano made astonishingly rich fertilizer. My flowers were huge, even during the drought of 2002. All because of bats. Love em.
Contrary to most of the comments, I enjoyed this movie. However I did read the book back in 1977 by Martin Cruz Smith that this movie is based on. Really enjoyed the book and have been looking for this movie since. The book explains the American Indian culture which I found interesting. Thank you for sharing this movie with us.
I saw this on a Saturday afternoon as a 5 year old in the early 80s and it required me to have counseling where the psychologist tried to convince me that while vampire bats exist, they were in S America and no threat to me. The fact that they actually existed was too much for my little pea brain to handle because that tidbit did nothing to help the fact that I was so scared I wouldn’t sleep in my room anymore. For *years*. To this day I still sleep with my ears and neck covered! Gd nightwing! Aaaaahhhhhh
People it's a 70s movie....and its about suspense. Just like you didnt see Jaws until the movie was 3/4 thru the film. Suspense... It was based on Reservation life and the difference btwn elders spiritual life and the outside physical life going two different ways.
Saw this many years ago at the theater. Loved the animal attack movies that became popular after Jaws and did think of the great Hitchcock movie The Birds. David Warner, Nick Mancuso, Kathryn Harold and the always great Stother Martin
A well crafted thriller taking in danger, a mystery, the supernatural , with guestions and uncomfortable situations. I was glued to my screen the entire way. A very fulfilling experience. Hope you all enjoy.
This movie doesn't deserve all the derision heaped upon it. It's not a great movie, but a good, solid movie. The special effects are adequate, the performances are fine, and the scenery is beautiful.
Me gustan ver las películas desde el principio, que se pueda leer el titulo, los actores protagónicos, los de reparto, productor, director, etc. Como debe ser!!!
1979 ‧ Horror/Vampire ‧ 1h 45m A Masakai tribal deputy investigating the unusual killing of a horse is told by the high priest that he is summoning the Yewah god to bring the world to an end. When the high priest is found dead from similar wounds, the deputy must work quickly to put an end to the deadly menace.
I nevery seen this movie before now butt i have seen from start to finishing ❤ it its ok to me i would've watched again little slow form starting i like it good movie 😂😂😂😂not the best-selling but alrighty THANKS i enjoyed it 😂😂😂😂
Who wouldn't like this movie, it's got indians, & Strother Martin, and kenny rogers singing Lucille to a herd of sheep, it's great so far..i can dig it...
THE GUY WHO IS THE LEAD.....IN THIS WAS THE SAME ACTOR WHO PLAYED IN THE NIGHT RIDER LIKE SERIES....... STINGRAY...... HE DROVE A BLACK LATE 1960's CORVETTE.... AND THE CAR DIDN'T TALK.....
Another good spooky movie 🎬 featuring nativexAmericans had Chief Dan Georgexand Michael Jan Vincent in it. I cannot remember the name of the movie but it is reallycgood and spooky!
For once David Warning is playing a good guy, but this a odd movie .A mixed message that was more about eco-terrorism than vampires but do not tell the bats that they were in some good scenes,
We viewers greatly appreciate the time and effort you have invested in posting this movie. However, too much kissing and smooching. It takes up unnecessary time, and I’m sure many of the viewers can do without it. ENORMOUS and superfluous amount of acting, constant script back and forth, endless dialogue, chit chat, and incessant empty conversation throughout most of the movie.
You are right about everything ...endless cheesy kissing, empty conversations, ...to loose a baby because a wrong position..come on! End easy soul cure with a hot bath! I love you ,I miss you ..but I'm going to Huston
@hristohristov6488 A baby that presents shoulder first or bottom first (breech) foot or feet first (footling) can become lodged in the birth canal, causing serious injuries or death to both mother and child. Surgical intervention is often necessary in these situations. Since you were so woefully wrong about the possible loss of a baby due to positioning maybe you are wrong about the smooching too.
I'm pretty sure this is from a book by a guy named Martin Cruz Smith. I guess he's some kinda minority with a name like that. Don't matter to me, but he's an exceptional writer. He wrote several books about a detective in Moscow and they are some of the best books I've ever read. If you really want to read a fantastic novel read his book called, Rose. It's awesome.
THE INDIAN DUDE SAID HE WAS JEALOUS OF HIS LADY BEING LOOKED AT BY YOUNG WHITE BOYS WITH PORSCHE SPYDER CARS AND SWIMMING POOLS AND ALL HE HAD TO OFFER WAS THE DESERT AND SCORPIONS. GIVE ME THE DESERT EVERY TIME SPECIALLY AT SUNSET A BEAUTIFUL NATURAL PART OF MOTHER NATURE NO ARTIFICIAL BS GREAT FILM THIS THANKYOU FROM DAVID EAST ANGLIA COAST ENGLAND 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🙏🥂🎸🤘♥️🌈🏐🥅⚽🪩🎶🐉🛻
Ha ha yeah man! Not just the movies, Have you noticed anything unusual about the commercials lately? Whiners got rewarded in Bidenland. Irony? He's part of the group that made the problem worse back in the day. I can't watch anything made in Hollywood now and I know I'm not alone. Give me an old movie any day.
This film was really enjoyable..good plot, above average acting but the amount of adverts almost made me turn it off....a great film almost not worth watching because of that.
Dead fish with bird s*** all over the place in the Everglades, I didn't know we had vampire bats I thought we just had seagulls, frigates and pelicans.
I love these kind of movies . You expect one thing but you get something totally different - kind of dumb crap happening - high school level acting - does not matter if you follow the plot if there is one - just a movie without profanity & no half naked girls running around with their titties bouncing around . This is a Great Mindless movie if you are into these kind of movies . This is at least a ⭐️⭐️movie . Love it !!!
I read the book back in the 70's and it taught me a good bit about the Native American culture and religion. Enjoyed it very much!
Yikes! Just started watching and drifted down to the comments...Yours made me realise that I read the book myself years ago....
I recently watched the film and was impressed with the performances. The acting was strong, and the video quality was excellent. The actor who played the sheriff delivered a standout performance. While the story wasn't particularly groundbreaking, it was still believable and engaging.
Read the book as a kid in ‘70’s… haven’t seen the movie since the theater in ‘79.
Good story. Original concept.
Thx for posting and the memory.

Thank you for sharing this movie with us.
An excellent movie, haven't seen it in over 40 years, it's as good as I remember it as being.
Excellent movie. I love all kinds of horror and David Warner was a very talented actor. Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks, really enjoyed. I always loved Kathryn Harrolds face, very honest and beautiful. I think it is all in her eyes.
Once again Alamogordo NM is mentioned in an old 70s horror movie. I live in Alamogordo NM and have for almost all of my life. How cool
The film is Nightwing made in 1979 and the English actor from the omen is David Warner a great actor in many good films 😃😃👍👍
Yes and he has left us but we can still see his movies.
Yes he was a good actor
Thank-you so much for a GREAT film. So much to this movie and light years more to it than most movies today.

I haven't seen this since i was a kid and it scarred me, eek! Thx for the upload! This movie and Kingdom of Spiders would make a great double-feature!
The movie was released in 1979....it was just as good back then.
I read the book in the '70s, I was forewarned but had to see it anyway.
A well crafted thriller taking in danger, a mystery, the supernatural , with guestions and uncomfortable situations. I was glued to my screen the entire way. A very fulfilling experience. Hope you all enjoy.
Excellent commentary 👍
Thank you. There was more to this movie than bats.
Woah, I saw this movie when I was 4 or 5 and never knew what it was called. Thank you.
This movie doesn't deserve all the derision heaped upon it. It's not a great movie, but a good, solid movie. The special effects are adequate, the performances are fine, and the scenery is beautiful.

I really love this great 👌 movie 🍿🎥.
Martin William Smith is the real name of the writer. Among a long list of other pen names is Martin Quinn (reverse it and smile). 5:21
Not sure how accurate the representation is, but it's good to see a movie centered around Native American culture & beliefs.

Parecida a la que después sacara Lou Philip Diamond
It's one the best movies ever made it's up there with wizard of Oz and gone with the wind

Sure someone said this already, but, it is "The Birds" with bats.
No! this movie isn't about DC Comics Nightwing!

I would argue that his 'Polar Star' novel is one of the best mystery crime murder stories ever written. Really needs to be a streaming series.

Strother Martin.
