Baboons definitely seem like a tough animal to hunt. Not only are they smart, but they live in rough country. Quite a challenge, thank you for the effort Pieter. I sure the citrus farmers are grateful too.
10:15 It could be scope glint from the light reflecting off the rocks. I live in the States so i can't determine how bright those rocks are. But my experience was similar to Coyote hunting. I would like up the shot and as soon as my cross hairs got on the Coyote. It would look at me and bolt. I left an older scope (That i use like monocular) where i was and walked to where the Coyote was. It turned out that there was light reflecting off a tin roof onto my hide. So when i looked at the Coyote it basically laser beamed it with scope glints. Try using a scope shroud and see how well it works. It's cheap and helps get rid of another obstacle you have to worry about.
You hit the nail on the head. I watch your videos because they are like high end production movies. The amount of work you put in to editing and your content is evident. I'm always happy to see Impact Shooting in my notifications. Please keep these videos coming !
Awesome video Piet. I know your struggle. I ran after a wounded ostrich in the Klein Karoo the past week in heat of 37°C. The satisfaction is just so much greater when you have to work so hard for it. Well done!
I can totally feel you when you say it’s exhausting to climb the mountain with the gear!! I usually don’t stalk that much but every now and then I do and I try to go as light as possible and still I’m sweating al over the place and I don’t have to carry 3 cams and a second tripod… I love your hunting videos! Keep It going!
Hey man, Awesome video as always. I think its cool how pumped up your are about doing this. It makes the video more interesting to follow seeing your excitement. I think you have almost as much talent editing your videos as you do shooting these pest. Thanks for taking us along with you and sharing some knowledge along the way.
The orchard owner should put up a 300’ tower in the middle of the field with an air conditioned tiny cabin on top. I’d live there for minimum wage as long as they fed me and provided firearms and ammo to protect the crop.
i looked down in the comments and didn't see any mention of it. But new viewer here, it was so cool to see your heartbeat in the scope for the 4th kill. Never seen that before.
I said it before and I'll say it again there's something about the can on that rifle with the bluing discoloration that's going on from heat that makes it look freaking badass
Another brilliant video mate. The previous video had me watch it twice was great hearing you slap them with those shots! As for the snakes they’d be having a round too, they give me the chills. That heat must be a killer, hard work pays off, well done!! 🍺
Hi @IMPACTSHOOTING, do you need a second firearm in case of close encounters, or is it too heavy to carry around with the video equipment, rifle and ammunition?
@@IMPACTSHOOTING oh right. I would’ve thought if you got him, they’d all disperse an hunt you down or something hahah. Never would have guessed that. Anyway good video man
Started watching a couple days ago. Unsure if you can get them there plus might be sponsored by sitka but look at the kuiu attack pants for they have side vents that you can open up for ventilation.
Fantastic video. I'm coming out to South Africa in August. Baboon is on my hunting list but been told I'll probably waste a day or 4 trying to catch them out!
I farm up here in the Drakensberg. I absolutely love hunting them. They really are very clever!! The game never ends😊 I really take my hat off to you Piet. I huff and puff up and down the mountains just with rifle and binos. With all that gear I'd never leave the bakkie 😂 Well done bud👍
Every time i watch your baboon adventures i cant help but remember the movie "Sands of the Kalahari" with Stuart Whitman. Question: is it possible to bait them and have a hide you can get to unseen?
Like your videos. Always interesting seeing other game hunted, even if they're more better classified as pests. They still are a cunning adversary. I hunt and predator control on our farm in central Maine USA . My father was from Ikaria, Greece and emigrated to the States by way of Johannesburg after he spent some time working for his uncle at their meat market. We purportedly have a little Moroccan connection too. Where are you hunting? Is it the Atlas mountains of northwest Africa? What is your set-up? We have been using a few 6.5 Creedmoors with inexpensive scopes. Kids and wife can easily handle lower recoil and clamped in a tripod, makes inexperienced shooters like my kids find greater success in our shots at game.

@@IMPACTSHOOTING Vegans are better. Superior ✅♥️😎🤗🐣🐥🐔🐮🐷🐙🐠🐡….. 👍
People that feel sorry for those pests don’t realize how much damage even a small group can do. Hunters have to be the apex predators now. Well done 👍
So what are these thieving monkeys stealing in the mountains again that makes them into a "pest"? 😂
Look at our inner cities as a perfect example

Those moments when the baboon moves away 0.0001 seconds before you pull the trigger! 😱

" ladies and gentlemen, that was a two for one!!!!"😂😂
First time watching one of your longer hunting videos with BOTH EARBUDS in. Wow!!! The sound is amazing and possibly better than the video quality!!
Thank you so much!
I am surprised . I thought baboons were on the downfall as far as population
It's because of you that Planet of the apes will become reality. LMAO
Thanks!

The candy bar/baboon droppings joke was perfect 😆. Great videos, love you're energy and hard work!
i really like this. You are like my uncle used to be. Very accurate and very focused on what you do.

Hmmm, that's a great idea......more than minimal wage though.
He would have to sell a lot of citrus to offset the cost of that setup.
I was thinking the same.
Absolutely Megga! Thanks for the ride Pete. U r top man. Luvya mate .

Got to love that dasher. I Just finished a 6BR and will be working on loads next.
Bango! Nothing like hearing the "thump"
Loved the video, and I have one quick question. How did you come to decide on using 6mm Dasher?
Interesting the similarities between Baboons and Red Sea proxies.🤔
New to your channel but loving it so far. Keep up the amazing videos!
Good shots. Im new to your channel so I was just wondering why don’t you drop the alpha?
That leads to a mating frenzy with the young males having access to females

Yank here ! Beautiful landscape, looks a lot like California citrus fields. Great shot, about 900 ft .
The gear you have is so nice! Good production as well! Great stuff man, you earned a sub from me.
Gotta get some footage of some of the deadly snakes you encounter now and then. Be safe and thanks for posting your hunts! Mike in sunny Florida

Why you don't use a sling or rifle rugsack for these climbs?

That's interesting that there avarmint where you live. What kind of impact are they having that makes them one? Always curious on learning new things.
They are invasive. The decimate citrus farms, and destroy entire native bird populations. They eat the eggs and destroy nesting habitat.
Only recently found your channel mate, great videos really like your approach
