Minor point but corn does not necessarily mean maize. The word corn was historically used to mean the most common grain grown locally or just as a collective noun for all types of grain. Where I am from, if a farmer says corn, he means barley. In other areas wheat or oats may be called corn. In the modern era, where 95% have little to no knowledge of agricultural life and customs, corn has come to mean only sweetcorn or maize.
