  • Syd was in fact a fan of Dylan and many of his songs have been influenced by him. In this song Syd both mocks Dylan and embraces him.
'Bob Dylan Blues' wasn't released until 2001, when Gilmour found the lost tape recorded in 1970.

Dylan himself fell of the chair laughing when he heard this song. The thing most people dont know is that Dylan is one of the best artists to laugh and make fun of himself... He's comment on the song was that he couldn't agree more :-)

Damn, I'm a big Syd fan, and I didn't know that story. Do you remember where you read it? I know Dylan's thoughts about The 13th Floor Elevator's cover of "Baby Blue" being his favorite was kind of hard to find.

"That I can prophecy all kind of things" Putting both Syd and Bob together, yes! Study the pic deeply to see Syd's prophetic, seated choice, leaning, connection to the States Double Grammy Winner in 1998. Once you find it will be clear to you, if you dare!

There s no other rock musician that has a better sense of rhythm than Syd. Moreover , the words flow like a river that reaches the sea telling us what it sees on its way. It touches my soul. It s the wind in the willows in music. Thanks Syd

"a song about God, my girl, and all that" a few of the lyrics are incorrect but this song is always a classic. love hearing it. Dylan did say in an interview he made a deal with the chief man ..... so like syddy says, he don't care bout that cause his gut and his wallet is fat

Syd Barett was a talented, gifted young man. Unfortunately, he was a drug addict. He had the wrong friends. Syd was still taking drugs when he made his two solo albums. A sad story for the whole Barrett family. Hard to bear!!! If his two solo albums had come out with Pink Floyd, they would have been better musically. I am interested in how Syd Barett lived with his illness. Unfortunately, there are no more books in German.

We are the ultimate source for information on Syd himself and the early Pink Floyd on the net. There are people here with many years experience of our subject matter and sometimes people who actually knew Syd turn up too! Oh, hell, are you kidding me? Syd wrote on a level Dylan wasn't even capable of approaching!
Don't get me wrong, Dylan's written many great songs, but Syd was far and away the more poetic. Dylan's best songs, he sounds like he's trying pretty hard. Syd never sounded like he was trying at all! 100% un-self-conscious.
Someone who knew Syd, before he went mad, said he never got worked up like a "tortured artist", but just sat and wrote song after song, comfortably and naturally.

@Nabo92 Not in a million years. Syd was decent, and this is an awesome song. I think he does an amazing job ripping Dylan, but they are not in the same plane when it came to musical talent. Syd had about 5 or 6 really good songs, Dylan has about 2000.
