Same here. There's lots to be said about it, it may be inspired by peter pan. Ultimately I think it's a perfect collection of the strong connection to childlike thinking that he had. Beautiful lyricism as always, it's almost like he's playing a game with you. You cant see me but I can you 🙂
does anyone else have this feeling when listeling to Syd's voice... that he's a long lost friend which had such a brief presence, but felt the best presence on earth? I wish he was here. I didn't met the guy, but I feel terrible sorry when I think about how troubled that mind was.
Yes I feel that all the time. I wish I could speak to him as well, but It relaxes me to know that he was comfortable financially, and spent the majority of his life doing what he loved, painting.
Yes! I've recently rediscovered Syd, and he feels like an mystical imaginary friend. I was having a stressful day at work, and was looking forward to getting home so I could listen to him, he calms me so much.
Syd's music makes me happy. It sounds insane but it feels like a big hug when he was singing. Very special guy. Impacted music way more than he realized.
Pink Floyd es una de mis bandas favoritas, pero la etapa con Syd Barrett como lider es la mejor y este tema cuando lo escuche por primera vez me voló la cabeza
That second shot of Syd at 21 seconds in shows someone filming that concert. I wish we could find a copy of that uploaded to the internet. I see lots of pics and sound recordings of the Syd era, but not much for films.
Most of the original films (tapes) were reused and lost forever.... and now Most of the cameramen are dead.... someone just found the Original Film of a Japanese recording live performance of Atom Heart Mother in Hakone-Japan.... we have to pray
Sadly he never was able to re-enter our shared 'reality'...lived kind of a quiet life in Cambridge up until his death in '06, but he was on his own planet. May he rest now.
It's a surreal, stonier version. He was still there, but his perceptions were certainly altered beyond where they were when first recording for the album. I know only too well how that feels. Luckily for me, I knew when to let up. In 67, going mad was the new thing, and no one could really know if one could take it too far. I don't buy he had schizophrenia, but there was more to it than LSD. We'll never fully know, but mandrax had a big part of it.

i dont think all syds problems were because of drugs, some said he may have gone that way without taking anything, also he may have had undiagnosed mental health issues , he also lost his father at a young age, that may have played its part,he was close to him. drugs of course were a factor but you cant pin everything on them, also sudden fame can be hard to deal with for someone as fragile as Syd was, god rest him .
~ Schizophrenia, disillusionment with the music biz, and a marathon LSD abusing session. This is a beautiful recording. Then, after, his live shows as a solo act were simply atrocious.
Syd was a fragile soul, he didn’t want fame he just wanted to be an artist. A lot of his solo stuff doesn’t have him sound ‘gone’. Especially the BBC sessions from 1970.
@@alexmalchlook at pictures from 67 and 68, not much of a difference other than syd looking exhausted, tired of the music industry and the game they're making him play. Then later on in the 80s and 90s, as well as the sessions from the recordings of his solo albums he looked fine, laughing smiling, not "completely gone" with "nobody there" like the narrative they wanted on him. Infact in Syd's later age he looks healthy and happy spending time with his sister and mother
Well, you hear two guitars, so that was overdubbed, that is for certain. My guess is they recorded the back (all instruments) and then added the two voices (Syd is singing the two vocals you hear) and the acoustic guitar, and else. It's a great version
I don't know what is so special about this song but I just love it. I wish more people get to know this masterpiece

it's mysticism, the absurdity in it's words.

This is Syd at his best.
There is something so special about Syd that there are no word to explain it 🎶🎵
He sings with so much glee!
Gives me goosebumps

Lo mismo creo, sinceramente el Pink Floyd que salió después no es mucho de mi agrado, perdió esa esencia única que tenía Syd
Magnificent sounds, magnificent images, magnificent everything. Thank you for posting x
Thank you Sydster 💕
@@ratslaydownflat2540 You're so welcome. It's a joy being a part of the Syd-saluting community x

Yes, I think Syd's impulsive drug use contributed to his downfall. He took what his fans gave him.

No, he was a classic LSD casualty. Too much talk of 'it was the fame', which is nonsense and dangerous.
