A problem with the wireless I would imagine. The Fractals would be exactly the same every night. There’s a drop in level somewhere before it hits them.

Lucky motherfucker, I seen em once during sanitarium tour when kirk was burnt out. You could tell he need a break bad he was slacking on alot of these lengthy solos. Also powerman 5000 tripped the decibil limit so the speakers sounded like shit too. I'll forever hate powerman for that. But kirk was using a weird aqua underwater clean vibrato effect for unforgiven II that sounded terrible as well. Other concert I seen was at the fiddlers green in colorado and that place just has a shit sound system back in late 90s. I had a terrible experience seeing metallica at a time they were in their prime.
Kirk was wishing for the days of Marshall’s and tube screamers on stage!!!

dudee how does this even happen! it's crazy that it wasn't fixed by the time of the solo. ironically i think he played the solo cleaner cause of the less gain

it's probably a simple mechanical issue, like a dirty/stuck pot/switch on his guitar. His patches are going to sound pretty much the same every night, so it is more likely that something with physical moving parts (like his guitar) is going to be the source of the issue rather than his Axe-FX which is just a big ol computer that serves as his "amp".

Well. Creeping Death solo with a clean tone. But I also gotta say Kirk pulled it off quite flawlessly there. But what the heck happened there? And... there's been an assload of tech diff for Kirk on this tour.
I'm pretty sure this happened always with all bands, but now we have thousands of cameras and RUclipsrs looking for content

@@gbenselum As a former stage sound tech (monitors and some house mixes) it hasn't happened always, it was a lot less frequent before everything went digital and wireless. Yes things went wrong, but less often and in analog plus wired gear the fixes were usually easier and faster. I always had a backup amp or two live and ready for my stage monitors, and could repatch any mix in seconds. Our house engineer had a similar setup for most of his board's inputs, especially vocals and guitars. The new tech does some pretty awesome things, but often the cost is reliability.
I think kirk asked for "More Gain" in preparation for the 2nd (my main) night

That's easy, just set one up that only goes into the monitors or a direct send to the sound guy...
They actually do. There's a footswitch by the mics that cuts the signal to the PA specifically for that. One of the behind the scenes/fan vids showed it recently.

I watched closely this solo live from the seats. It was dope. I didnt feel that its lack of gain in the tone.
This tour has been having lots of technical issues.

@@katekrylov There's no pedalboard, they use Axe FX units, which are rack mounted.
@@yodiefam15 Actually there is. Even rack operated devices are operated via footswitches and as I understand it, the guitar techs in Metallica actually stomp. My understanding is that, Justin has to tap dance a whole lot.
@@Jayteaseepiirturi Yep, I forgot but they do use fc12s as pedalboards I think. At least they used to, you can see them in tuning room videos.

@@Stewart.fryers been there in person, they sound great. The soundstage was done really well in Ford Field, not sure what's going on here plus the recording on phones is not accurate to what its like IRL.
In this scenario he definitely needed more gain, this was atrocious.
@@Stewart.fryers the idea was that they give up control and amps failing /weathering / weight and setup time so that they use these rackmounts that work well with their wireless.
Also stops them, aside from Kirk on wah, needing to run around and catch pedals at different sides of the stage
And open air sound always sucks imo.

Time to get q new Guitar Tech. I've seen that guy continuously having issues with Kirk's equipment
hes been with him for over 20 years its not just him is can also just be something wrong in the signal chain hence why he went under the stage mistakes happen all the time James guitar tech Chad z has mistakes too

My wife uses a lot of gain on my clothes.
The gain stealing culprit could have very well been as simple as the volume potentiometer gone bad. A dying 9v on the EMGs or wireless would also give similar results also a bad connection on the output jack.

If I’m paying my tech thousands of dollars, I expect basic stuff to come with it. Etc, turn on the gain pedal or maybe the battery was dead in my guitar with active pick ups? But oh well, s**t happens sometimes but throughout the song?

Not a fan of this tour with the huge arenas and huge stage. Too hard to see and not many props or pyro.
His playing is not as good as it used to be so please give him more gain. So it can hide the inaccuracies. And or just sloppy / lazy leads. These guys get tired like anyone else. On the road . 🤔☕️
