I was stupid and had my betta Robert in a bowl for a little over a year. Recently, I moved him into a 10 gallon tank with a filter, a heater, and lots of plants and decorations, and he's an entirely different fish. He swims around, investigates the plants, and he just seems overall happier. If you're reading this, listen to this video, and my story. Get your fish an actual tank with a filter and heater, it's worth it.
fish stores give out wrong information ...I bought a betta just because I felt sorry for it swimming in such a small bowl . I bought a 20 lite tank and a few neon's and he is very happy 😆
After watching this I went out and bought a much bigger tank for my betta! I felt so bad, I had no idea they needed a big tank. He went from a 1 gallon fish bowl to a 5 gallon tank, with a heater and filter. He seems much happier now. Thank you for making this video!
I put my Betta in a 50 gallon community tank where he was very active. We then set up a small 3 gallon in the kitchen to add some color and put the Betta there. He became very depressed. Would not swim. Ate very little. Just sat at the bottom. After two days, I moved him back to the 50 gallon where he once again is doing great. That was proof enough for me that yes they can live in a small place, but to thrive, they need much more.
+TruckRat Thank you for sharing your story! Its great that you observed his behavior and made the choice to let him be in the 50 gallon again. We can tell a lot just by observing how our fish behave and look. I'm sure your Betta really appreciates it!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I wish more people cared about the plight of these beautiful fish! Pet stores are so cruel. Bettas are not "just a fish". They have personalities if you treat them like a living creature, and not just a thing.
I have seven (a lot, I know), and I know each one by their personality. I know where they like to hide, which plants they like to have in their aquarium, where they prefer to catch their food (I feed live blackworms), and who likes to chase a laser pointer (if you have bettas and this toy for ... say, your cats or dogs, try it with your bettas too !). I wish people would know to give them the space, filtration, heating, and plants so they can be actual fish and not just decoration !
I work in a petsmart, though I work as a food dealer and am not a petsmart employee. Despite this, since I know more about betta then some of the associates I will hover around the bettas and spy on people buying them. If they start to make a poor tank choice I polite ask if they would mind a suggestion and give them some tips on keeping bettas and what sort of tank they should get for them and information for keeping them. If they don't want to hear it, I politely back off. There isn't much I can do. But 90% of the time they love the information and are thankful for it ^^ and I feel glad that I made things better for the betta =D though it's not my job(and I am sure my boss wouldn't like that I am doing something non work related) it's nice to help educate people more on these beautiful fish. Both of my betta tanks have filters, and while my larger female seems to like her filter, my smaller female is a bit over whelmed by the current so I have a log to block it a bit and reduce it, and it provides her with a nice, still place when she wants to relax =)
I just wish there was more I could do =( but since I am not even an employee I can only do so much. But does make me smile when I help someone with their fish ^^ there was a little girl a few weeks ago(well I say little but she was like 12) who was upset that her mom didn't want to get her a hamster so I started talking to her about bettas and showing her and her mom some stuff and shared stories with mine and she got really excited =D and her mom was happy to not have a hamster lol! Though I did actually yank a betta off a 2 year old once when his mother thought it was a good idea to let him hold it and he started to shake it. I apologized to the mom and explained that it' snot good to let the fish get shook. Thankfully she understood I normally try not to be so forward so the store doesn't get mad if someone gets upset @.@;; but I couldn't just watch that poor fish get shaken up!
This is one of the BEST betta care videos I have ever seen! It is very visually stimulating and keeps the watcher engaged and entertained, while still providing the best information possible! Thank you so much for making this video & I will refer my viewers to this for more information on bettas! You are AWESOME! xx
hello there busy betta I am a very very big fan of ur vids I love bettas they are the jewel of freshwater fish I want to ask you what do you think I should get a koi half moon or a white body and blue dorsal fin delta
I own 16 bettas one of witch used to be a class pet and was kept in his pet store jar torture chamber I rescued and used your video to explain to my teacher and class mates that bettas need space my teacher ended up giving me the fish and he now lives in a 5 gallon aquarium the same that all my fish babies have thank u so much
I started my betta in a 3 gallon but upped it to 5 gallon with live plants and drift wood. He's moving more and looks active. Everything in the video is true
Oh my lanta! This video opened my eyes SO much! i have heard quit a few people on line say: "Your betta needs a 5-10 gallon tank!" And i just roll my eyes...But you are so right. they do need tons more space! maybe not 5-10 gallons, while that seems like it'd be good i think that they would even be happier in a 3 gallon......its way better than a 1 gall (which i have them in now). Thanks so much! i will give them a bigger space now!:)
When I was a kid I had a Betta we named Fire Ball. We kept him in a vase, but it was a large one with a squat base that was about a foot wide and held about two gallons of water. We were able to get various plants that kept the water clean and give him good hiding spots. He seemed like a happy fish. he never tried to jump out and always kept his beautiful color. He lived for 5 years.
When I got my betta fish a few days ago, I got him a 0.3 gallon tank. He was not active at all! So then I got him a 3.7 gallon tank and he is SOOOO much happier! And more active. This video helped me take care of my betta fish. Thank you!
I had my beta in a bowl, I saw this and I bought him a 5 G tank and live plants. I don't need a heater because I live in a tropical weather, but my beta is so happy, he won't stop swimming from one place to the other:) thank you so much!!
THANK YOU. I bought my betta & a tiny bowl & I didn't realize any of this until I noticed how cold his water was getting. He would just sit still, Then I looked into info about him & realized he's a tropical fish! & actually read the words there is a difference in surviving and thriving! I went out & bought him a big tank with a heater & light & rocks & plants. He's doing much better & swims everywhere I love him and people just don't understand our connection.
Most needed information for betta keepers. I think pet shops should stop selling bowls to begin with. I hate the whole concept of tiny containers also. Thanks a ton! I will share this video as much as possible.
Thank you for the lesson....even though brand new Silky is in a 3 gallon tank, I am getting him a heater...today!!! I was told it's not necessary but he brings us so much joy watching him that I want it to continue. The thermometer says the tank is 70F but I'm thinking that's not warm enough so I thank you and Silky thanks you!

I used to have a lovely blue/purple splendens in a 4ft community tank many years ago and everything was fine. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had a tank now days. Those blue and purple fins swimming through the eelgrass was very cool to watch.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.I had 3 betas all died because i kept them in bowls. The shop keeper told me that it will survive. THEN I BOUGHT 1 MORE.But before it was too late i saw this vid.My mother still thought the shopkeeper was right but when i showed this to her she realized her mistake and bought my betta a 3 gal
thank you so much for making this video! im disgusted every time i go to a fish store or a pet store and see these tiny little bowls for betta fish. when i got my Betta fish Shiver i bought a 10 gallon tank, with lots of fake realistic plants and rocks to swim in. he's almost a year old now and incredibly happy and playful, though he always flairs at me if i wear purple haha. my goal is to eventually save up and get some real plants in there and i bet Shiver will love it too!
Thanks for making this video. Just recently i started to get in the hobby of keeping a betta and im glad that i came across this video so i could get the right things for my little guy. Copper's in a 5g tank with a couple of hides, has a filter and heater, and he has been doing exceptionally well than how he was in that nasty little cup he was in. So sad that people just dont take care of these critters well. They're so intelligent and loveable!
*This video was shared 704 times on Facebook and 4 times on reddit!! THANK YOU! Let's get it to 1,000 shares so more people make the change and bettas can live better lives!* Together we can make a difference by spreading good information! Let me know in the comments, do you have a Betta fish? What is its name?
Halo invasion mi e is in a 10-15 gallon with filter heater and an airstone thing he is so spoiled since the tank is big enough I might get another betta for the tank not sure though
Thank you for making this video! It is all true, the Beta is the most abused and neglected fish. It’s heart breaking because these little fish have so much personality’s, I have never seen a fish with so much! They are like Water puppies. I haven’t had a beta for years. About 2 weeks ago I purchased a little male, half moon. He’s in a 20 gallon planted aquarium with 9 oto catfish that ended up being great tank mates for him. He loves to watch them and often swims with them. He’s hasn’t showed any aggression at all toward them at all. He’s always exploring and has his favorite spots. My heart breaks when I see them at the fish store in those little cups. The one day I was in Petsmart and they had 2 different kinds of cups, the new ones that came in were in different cups and they didn’t even push open the air holes. I called the manager over and she told me they just got them in and didn’t notice that they weren’t the same cups that already had an air hole opened. She called another girl over and had her pop them all open. The problem is this should have been done immediately as soon as they unpacked them! God knows how long they sat there unopened!
I'm really glad I am watching these vids before getting a betta fish. I have lots of room for a big tank and I will make sure I do everything right. :)
I own a red and pink male betta fish (it looks awesome) and I completely agree. The store i got it from kept it in a cup sized square tank, LITERALLY cup size. I keep mine in a 55 litre/12 gallon tank with lots of space, plants and decorations, not to mention he is king of the tank ;)
Every store keeps them in cup sizes, it's not good to keep them in those sizes for a long time, but it's the most efficient way to stock them up as they have a /lot/ of fry. It's just the problem that chain stores like Petco sell the "Betta Tanks", that are not suitable for them to live in for their whole lives, and people go on believing that the fish will thrive in that sort of horrid setting to where it will live it's years because they don't think to look up more about them online, and just go by the word of workers who are most likely just trying to get something sold. I work as a custodial worker and this one teacher has two in two small "Betta Tanks", changes their water maybe once out of 2-3 weeks, ugh, and overfeeds them as they are always bloated. The one has horrible fin-rot, and the other is now getting it. She doesn't even put more water in when it gets half way down to where they have only half of the space of what's in that tank. I tried explaining to her (She asked me why her tank is so dirty, since she knows I keep Betta), and she just made excuses when I told her why her tank was.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS! Many betta's lives will changed for the better because of your thoughtful video and research. My female betta lives in a 10 gallon with some tetras. Thank you again!
+Elias Varn I really hope so! I love Bettas and I do hope that they can be kept in better conditions. I really hope I can make a difference. I"m glad you like my video.
We need to get more people educated on Betta fish! People have always told me they don't require a big tank/space. You'll also see a lot of pet stores carrying Betta starter kits which include a small tank. I'm sad to say when I had my Betta he lived in one of those small tanks. I feel guilty. Surprisingly he lived for 4 years though.
God bless you for sharing a message to thos idiots who don't understand that a Betta needs space and caring just like any other fish, thank you I don't have a Betta but I just hate their treatement
I am obsessed with this video and so incredibly happy that someone knows what they are talking about! I have two male betta fish and one is in a 3.5 gallon tank and the other is in a 5.5 with 3 snails😊
Love this video! Mine has a 5 gallon tank right now, but I think I'll upgrade to an even larger tank soon! Thanks for informing people that small bowls are not okay and why!
Guys I had I betta that lived in a crappy bowl for a month ;( of suffering so I bought him a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter and plants and a cave for him to hide in :)
Bethany Brown dude, why so harsh. People have different financial situation and 2.5 gal is probably all he can buy and store in his home. So why not focus on the positive side that this guy learned something from this video and bought a way bigger tank for his fish.
Thank you for creating a video that highlights the horror of the abuse these poor fish suffer. Every time I see Bettas in plastic cups half filled with dirty water I want to scream bloody murder. The idea that small animals do not experience suffering when placed in such horrid conditions is insane. People need to be informed about proper animal care and this video helps to do that. If you have watched this video and currently own a Betta, please provide it with, at the very least, a 2.5 gallon or greater capacity tank. Please check the water regularly for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. Do regular water changes as well as removing uneaten food from the tank. The smaller the volume of water the more maintenance is necessary. Having a Betta is no less a responsibility than caring for any other pet. These beautiful fish can be lively and high personality pets for 3 or more years when treated right. If you can't do right by an animal don't keep any.
I often buy beta's on an impulse due to not being able to see them suffering and near death in pet stores. As a result I have at least three one and one 1.5 gallon tanks in the basement. but for now I only have a female and she lives happily in a 35 gallon community tank. And All of my gallon tanks have lights and filters. True a tank larger than A gallon would be better but at least it's better than tiny bowls and cups.
i had an old 5 gallon fish tank, and now i plan to get a betta fish and keep it in a nice big tank where it has room to move and the pet store said they like to hide and stuff so to buy 'play toys' for it such as little tank hiding spots, Very excited to get my betta soon! and happy to know that they'll love the large tank since they dont like the little tanks. thanks for the video ♥
THANK YOU FOR RAISING AWARENESS, SO MANY PEOPLE REFUSE TO SPEND MONEY ON A BIGGER TANK AND GIVE THEM A EXTREMELY SMALL ONE THAT STORES LIKE PET SMART RECOMMEND WHICH IS HORRIBLE FOR THEM.
Really good video. But also worth mentioning is that the Betta Splendans is no wild caught fish at all, it is domestically bred. So this type of the betta would never survive in the wild to begin with. You are talking about the wild type betta's which lives in the wild in Thailand ;) They are so different from the flashy domestic betta's you find in stores. But none the less, Betta's shall have a good space and a worthy life in captivity none the less :)
my best friend had a nice big heated pond. and some guy asked him if he wanted his gold fish because they were getting to big for his tank. now he's got a 300 gallon pond with like 7 giant gold fish. one of my favorite past times is sitting around his pond, watching the fish.
Great video. I have 12 bettas and they each have a heavily planted 10 gallon tanks with sponge filters and heaters. I makes me so sad to see a betta in anything less than a 3 gallon. I love your tank set up, you have such lovely fish.
this video makes me feel bad for my rose petal that I have in my 1.1 gallon desktop tank I am so happy that I am making him a brand new bigger aquarium with lots more plants
Very good video! Educational. I keep one of my bettas in a heated walstad 5.5 gallon tank with floating plants and a sweet potato, and my other two I keep in a divided, heated, filtered 10 gallon with water lettuce, aquarium lilies, and water wisteria. All are happy and healthy
yes agree, I have quite a few bettas in my aquaponic setup which the aquarium is also heavily planted. I have 3 males and 2 females with a variety of other fish in a common size tank. they all get along quite well as there's lots of coverage, and they all seem to know the dominance structure.
Had my Betta(now called Merri after Merry in LOTR) in a smallish fish bowl then cleaned up my ol 5 gallon and prepared it for him. WOW what a difference in behavior! He was swimming inside and around everything, playing. Ye can actually wash ur hands real good and play in the water gently with him if he lets you. Be slow and respect his wishes for distance if he's not ready to swim over or thru your fingers. These fish are the BEST! Nothing tops a S.F.F./Betta! Loads of fun and love! (now my friend's gone I paid attention. AWESOME! Subbed.)
Just make sure you don't wash your hands with soap right before putting your hands in the water! You can get soap residue in your fish buddy's tank that could be left over after washing your hands, and that can be really bad for him. If you touched something really dirty, wash your hands with soap but wait a while and rinse them off again or something, just to knock loose any extra soap residue.
I have three rescue bettas. Right now they each have a 2.5 gallon tank. I will be upgrading to 10 gallon tanks as soon as I can afford them. They seem to be really happy. I rescued them from tiny cups. They were all really sick and damaged. They gave me one of them for free because they didn't think she would make it through the night. It took a lot of doctoring but they are all healthy now.
Thank you so very much for this video! I wish a group like PETA would speak out about this too and educate pet stores and owners. The attitude of, "it's JUST a fish" seems to be the standard with this. I cannot tell you how many times I have spoken up to the pet stores and they tell me the selling point of the Betta is low maintenance and less space. For now on I will direct them to your video!
+Reine Amodeo I actually think PETA did make a blog post about Bettas.. they just don't put much effort into it because as you said ...a lot of people says it's "just a fish" :/
I just got a 5 gallon tank, a filter, heater, and some plants to set up a betta tank for my kid. the guy at my LFS told me it was complete overkill and my fish wouldn't be happy
Got my first Betta in my community aquarium tank - he looks happy and swimming around and chasing my shrimps who is to fast for him :D he been living in Zoo store in about 10-15 liter aquarium - now he have large aquarium with live plants, heater, compressor and other things. :)
Sadly many breeders here in indonesia keep their betta fish in a small cup ( less than quarter gallon) for more than 6 month and ppl who takes care of them also put em in the small cup for about less than 1 gallon
Omg thank you so much for making this video!! I m only 15 but my mum had a Betta fish and a tiny fish tank and I feel so sorry for the poor thing!! I always tell her that it is wrong to keep a betta fish in something like that but she got told by the person she bought him from that they are found in little puddles. But if you really think about it, Betta fish cannot be found there because Puddles evaporate... Then where would the fish go!!?
+Capricewilton a lot of people usually get confused about the "puddle" idea.. that's why I tried to make a drawing..I hope that it helped make it easier to understand. :P
Thank you,you put most of the info about betta tank size i got from numorous wedsites in a neat and clean 3 and half minutes video!with really neat presentation! I recommend you to make such these videos on goldfish too!
Awesome video good job!!!! I keep my betta in a 20g with a few mollies and platys. He loooooooooves it! He swims happily every time I walk by and he's always blowing bubbles trying to make fry lol.
I had to fight for every filter cartridge, every hiding spot, and even for a siphon to ensure that my new betta is living a better life than I gave the last one
I have a betta named Draco! He's a small and extremely shy guy. He is black with slight green and white tinges. I also have a larger red one named Trae. Trae is a hyper and is a massive eater!
I have a 10 gallon and a 20 long. My 10 is a hospital tank and my 20 is my main community tank. I never planned on keeping bettas, I just never really found any interest. But I am getting a 55 soon, so I've been considering using my 20 long to house a walmart betta, since they have the absolute worst conditions here (in my local walmart). They have rotten food laying around, some of them have ich, some of them have fin rot, water is literally a weird greenish color, filled with mold from the rotten food, and I've seen a single betta being there for over 2 weeks. I would love to rescue one, and then re-home it later on to someone who does like bettas. I've just never really liked any of those common fish that most people like, you know, goldfish, bettas, mollies, platies, guppies, neon tetras, etc.
I agree my niece brought a soft animal betta bowl home and i gave it back to the tank and used my old 15 gallon tank for the beutiful betta im so glad its not stuck with no filtration no room and not happy.
My four live in a divided fifteen gallon aquarium with dense plants, hides, driftwood, heaters, and sponge filters. Someday, they shall be upgraded to a divided twenty gallon, but for now, I hope they enjoy their temporary homes. I don't understand how people can look up pictures of beautiful bettas and betta aquariums and still think bowls are okay ...
5.5 gal tank, heated, filtered, hiding spaces, moss balls, small flow filter, omega 1 betta buffet pellets, prime water comditioner! thats evrything i have or am gettimg before my new betta! 💚
One thing I was always told is that they don't like current. I have a 20gallon with a hob and my Betta has no problem navigating the flow. I wouldn't suggest adding a powerhead but they are better swimmers than you would think.
yes bettas need basic tank needs, and a minium of 2 gallons, but they do have a very special gil system called a labyrinth gil that allows them to pull air with their mouth and push it across their gills to breath- this is also useful with making bubble nests. A planted tank with no filter and a heater for example, will allow a betta to thrive just nicely. My wilds love it, and I do weekly water maintenance to assure the water balance is maintained.
I would say a filter is important regardless of plants or labyrinth organ. the reason is it's where the beneficial bacteria are mainly housed since it provides a nice surface area as well as water flow which the bacteria need to thrive.without a really good thriving bacteria colony the ammonia doesn't get broken down and thus the water becomes toxic and the plants can't really do anything cause they need the ammonia to go through the nitrogen cycle.
I'm giving mine a 10 gallon tank my guppys used to live in, do I completely change the water that is already cycled or can I acclimate and put in the Betta ( yes it will be alone with a nerite OR mystery snail but I might upgrade the stocking plan to a few live plants. 🌱
I'm a Betta fish lover and totally agree with what u said!! Your video is so meaningful and pls keep on producing videos of similar kinds to educate people!!! Thx a lot!!!
+BS01234 Thank you!!! I also made on for Goldfish as well because they don't do well in bowls either. I hope that my videos will make a positive difference for fish.
Thankyou for debunking that myth i was at a petstore yesterday and they gave me a tiny 1 gallon fish bowl (wich i use for quarantine and if a fish is sick or injured) and i kept it in there for a week i now have 2 5.5 gallon fish tanks for my bettas i had almost kept my betta in that bowl until i saw this video very helpful thankyou
I have only has 3 betta in my lifetime. my first one started out in a small vase with a piece of bamboo (the one i got him in) and we put him in a tank with 3 other large goldfish and he did perfectly fine. The second betta we got lived in our pond with koi and other goldfish, but was unfortunately crushed my rocks when my dad was transferring fish and didn't see him. and the betta i have now lives in a 1.5 gallon tank with and algae eater, and they do perfectly fine. I would put him in my 50 gal with my other tropical fish, but I'm afraid my opaline gourami (whose 2" long) would kill him-granted she killed the last gourami i put in there-
I have 3 Male Bettas in 1 Tank I love it. I hate how petshop owners or sales agents give wrong info about bettas the info they give the customers are robbing bettas the good care they deserve
Excellent video! Many years ago I took my own risk and started putting bettas in with community fish with little to no issues. The real problem is that by "rescuing" a betta from the pet store cups, it's essentially supporting the industry. It's a frustrating catch 22. :/
+Heidi Reyher That is so true. We need to encourage local breeders to sell bettas and encourage that they better care for them. That way we can choose who we support.

Thank you for the Info! I have a five gallon ready for my first Betta! I'm getting him soon
Creative Pet Keeping is a 10 galloon good for Betta fish?
I was stupid and had my betta Robert in a bowl for a little over a year. Recently, I moved him into a 10 gallon tank with a filter, a heater, and lots of plants and decorations, and he's an entirely different fish. He swims around, investigates the plants, and he just seems overall happier. If you're reading this, listen to this video, and my story. Get your fish an actual tank with a filter and heater, it's worth it.
Amazing :)
+MyGoldiesAndMe Thank you!
well said ..I totally agree and have experienced same thing .. poor misunderstood bettas 😢
fish stores give out wrong information ...I bought a betta just because I felt sorry for it swimming in such a small bowl . I bought a 20 lite tank and a few neon's and he is very happy 😆
Exactly we did the same ..spread the word ..these pet shops don't know what their talking about 👌👏👏👏🐟🐟🐟
After watching this I went out and bought a much bigger tank for my betta! I felt so bad, I had no idea they needed a big tank. He went from a 1 gallon fish bowl to a 5 gallon tank, with a heater and filter. He seems much happier now. Thank you for making this video!
YAY! I'm so happy that you did this and am very happy for your betta fish
It infuriates me every time I see those 0.25 gallon aquariums for sale at petsmart
Yeah my lfs sells those and I'm like ??? WYD???
same one of my females orchid was at petco for 2 weeks
yeah it's a shame they don't get along with each other, or i would have a nice tank full of bettas.
Don't forget the fucking ball shaped hanging "terrariums" and flower vases.
And they say things like “calm” and “Zen” and “chi”
I love how you dont hold back, people need to understand this and you did an amazing job explaining.
+shynnelle Thank you soo much!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I wish more people cared about the plight of these beautiful fish! Pet stores are so cruel. Bettas are not "just a fish". They have personalities if you treat them like a living creature, and not just a thing.

Both of my betta tanks have filters, and while my larger female seems to like her filter, my smaller female is a bit over whelmed by the current so I have a log to block it a bit and reduce it, and it provides her with a nice, still place when she wants to relax =)
YOU ARE AWESOME. Thank you for giving new betta owners the option to get a good education on their care through you. :D
I just wish there was more I could do =( but since I am not even an employee I can only do so much. But does make me smile when I help someone with their fish ^^
there was a little girl a few weeks ago(well I say little but she was like 12) who was upset that her mom didn't want to get her a hamster so I started talking to her about bettas and showing her and her mom some stuff and shared stories with mine and she got really excited =D and her mom was happy to not have a hamster lol!

txferretgirl why do they even sell below 2 gallons!
Good job!!!! Keep it up!!!

This is one of the BEST betta care videos I have ever seen! It is very visually stimulating and keeps the watcher engaged and entertained, while still providing the best information possible! Thank you so much for making this video & I will refer my viewers to this for more information on bettas! You are AWESOME! xx
+BusyBettas Thank you so much! That means a lot to me! :D
Your welcome! Someone has to care about these little guys
hello there busy betta I am a very very big fan of ur vids I love bettas they are the jewel of freshwater fish I want to ask you what do you think I should get a koi half moon or a white body and blue dorsal fin delta
Aw thank you! & def a koi!
I'm glad we have people like u on this s planet
+Joseph Borges Awwww thank you! I love Betta fish and I hope to make a difference :)
+Joseph Borges Aww thank you! Whats even more amazing is all the support I'm getting from everyone on here. Together we can make a difference!
+Creative Pet Keeping The better we treat eachother, the better the world will be! -DD/CatMan (not me) God bless ye all.
+Myk Muchowski True!
+ibuprofanity Epic :) AHAHAHAHHA IBUPROFANITY! XD Epic username. :D
That's great!! I'm sure your betta appreciates it so much
3 gallons is actually fine as long as it's the betta in it and you monitor your fish well. Like giving proper water changes and all.
Excellent video. I've always said this. So many betta owners think that because they see the fish in such small cups that's it's ok and it's NOT!
Now I feel kinda bad. I had a betta named Gino that I kept in a small tank. I didn't know that they needed more space. Poor Gino...

Wonderful! No misinformation and presented in a wonderfully pleasing way. Well done!
+Chad Adams Thank you!
Wow. I myself am not a huge fish person, but I still hate when I see bettas in tiny cages, this video is amazing!
Wow... It was like i was watching a presentation that was gonna get an A+ Great video! Learned a lot about bettas in 3 mins.
This is so much easier than just explaining it to someone on the fly. Thanks. You're great.
The 29 people who disliked this video are feeling guilty about having there fish in a bowl lol.
THANK YOU! Let's get it to 1,000 shares so more people make the change and bettas can live better lives!*
Together we can make a difference by spreading good information!
Let me know in the comments, do you have a Betta fish? What is its name?
my betta lives in a 5.5 gallon tank with a filter and a heater by himself
halo invasion wewz
halo invasion wow so basicly your betta is richer than some people XD
Halo invasion mi e is in a 10-15 gallon with filter heater and an airstone thing he is so spoiled since the tank is big enough I might get another betta for the tank not sure though
Dan's sad dimple *__* don't put a betta in a tank with another male betta
TheBedrockBuster I know I was maybe going g to get a female but I stet up a different tank so I can get another betta 😀
This is the best video I've ever seen, I really hope parents show this sort of thing to their children
If I could share this more than once, I would. Great message with an even greater delivery :)
That being said, if I ever get another one he'll have much more space!
God bless you for sharing a message to thos idiots who don't understand that a Betta needs space and caring just like any other fish, thank you
I don't have a Betta but I just hate their treatement
I am obsessed with this video and so incredibly happy that someone knows what they are talking about! I have two male betta fish and one is in a 3.5 gallon tank and the other is in a 5.5 with 3 snails😊
this video changed my whole perspective of keeping fish in bowls, thank you so much for the amazing video!
+Zoe Sullivan YAY! I'm glad I could make a difference!
A Friendly Duck that’s still small
+Greggerman 100% agree!
My betta lives in a 10-15 gallon tank and he loves zooming around his tank and he always greets me when I come home
But none the less, Betta's shall have a good space and a worthy life in captivity none the less :)
my granfather build a pond for his bettas...
Sounds like a cool dude
IrfanCube nice
my best friend had a nice big heated pond. and some guy asked him if he wanted his gold fish because they were getting to big for his tank. now he's got a 300 gallon pond with like 7 giant gold fish. one of my favorite past times is sitting around his pond, watching the fish.
THANK YOU! For making this video. So many people have no idea how to care for bettas!
+Betta And Hammy Lover That's why us youtubers must come to the rescue hehe :D
YES. OH MY GOSH. I'm so tired of people saying that they actually enjoy living in those conditions.
I really hope that I can make a difference with this video.
SO PERFECT. BEST VIDEO. LOVE IT. Well done gurl, you made a difference to thousands of fish and I'm super appreciative!
I'm so glad that you like it :D
This vid helped me so much! I now have a ten gallon with harlequin rasboras and a male delta tail betta.
Damion Swartz my betta is REALLY HAPPY in his 5.5 gallon tank(with a heater and filter of course) its also planted and he has plenty of hideouts:)
Thats awesome!
Got my first Betta in my community aquarium tank - he looks happy and swimming around and chasing my shrimps who is to fast for him :D he been living in Zoo store in about 10-15 liter aquarium - now he have large aquarium with live plants, heater, compressor and other things. :)
Sadly many breeders here in indonesia keep their betta fish in a small cup ( less than quarter gallon) for more than 6 month and ppl who takes care of them also put em in the small cup for about less than 1 gallon
someone who car3s that's exactly why I never buy from anyone that's not on the US.
Then where would the fish go!!?
oh sorry, I commented that before you got the the puddle part!! :)
+Capricewilton a lot of people usually get confused about the "puddle" idea.. that's why I tried to make a drawing..I hope that it helped make it easier to understand. :P
we do that in Barbados. Since those sort of things are expensive we just put it in the tank. Some pretty rocks from the pet store and done.
We just put our betta fish into our 36 gallon tank. He was in a 1-2 gallon. He seems happier!
Wow..awesome!
Thank you,you put most of the info about betta tank size i got from numorous wedsites in a neat and clean 3 and half minutes video!with really neat presentation! I recommend you to make such these videos on goldfish too!
This is really helpful to me. I love the betta fish so much thanks for this video. Now I know how to take good care of them
Awesome video good job!!!!
Thank you so much for making this video!!!! I can't stress this enough!
+Elli Case Glad you like it!
When I bought my first betta, the petstore worker told me not to put it in a bowl and she gave me recommendations for a tank. She was nice.
I agree so much even though they survived it is still really good to keep them in the best condition possible for a tank
I agree my niece brought a soft animal betta bowl home and i gave it back to the tank and used my old 15 gallon tank for the beutiful betta im so glad its not stuck with no filtration no room and not happy.
I've always wondered why they were such good jumpers!
+LadyAnneBoleyn1536 Yup, its an escape mechanism that they developed in the wild :)
Thanks for brilliant info.. had just got the bowl.. 🤐😓 just a starter.. will try to find little bigger environment.. 🤟🏼
I got a betta and my family helped me to give it the best tank he seems very happy in it!
5.5 gal tank, heated, filtered, hiding spaces, moss balls, small flow filter, omega 1 betta buffet pellets, prime water comditioner! thats evrything i have or am gettimg before my new betta! 💚
*Sets up a 14 gallon for the betta I plan on getting*
mother: "that 1 fish doesn't need a tank that big!"
me: "yes I does"
One thing I was always told is that they don't like current. I have a 20gallon with a hob and my Betta has no problem navigating the flow. I wouldn't suggest adding a powerhead but they are better swimmers than you would think.
Much needed video!
yes bettas need basic tank needs, and a minium of 2 gallons, but they do have a very special gil system called a labyrinth gil that allows them to pull air with their mouth and push it across their gills to breath- this is also useful with making bubble nests.
This is seriously such an important video.
I shared this on all of my social media. I hope this will make some ppl change their minds about how they keep betta fish.
Well you are amazing!!Wow such a nice speech and way to comprehend!!😆😆😆😆😇😇☺Keep it up!
I'm getting a 3-5 gallon tank for my betta! I'm getting him and his stuff on Saturday
EXCELLENT video!! Thank you for this valuable public service!
I would put him in my 50 gal with my other tropical fish, but I'm afraid my opaline gourami (whose 2" long) would kill him-granted she killed the last gourami i put in there-
Literally the best Betta video ever created. 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
+Frosty Pet Adventures YAY! I tried my very best!
