You can actually train him to willingly swim into the container with a little food bribe :) All my bettas are taught to willingly swim into cups or containers so I don't have to use a net.
Not sure about everyone else here on the channel but I would love to see some more betta videos. Your little boy is adorable and I've definitely had a hard time getting some solid advice on betta keeping. Hard to find people who know what they're talking about in that department for some reason.... I can't tell you how many people tell me that my 3 gallon tank is too big for Hendrix (my lil guy). and for all you haters out there I'm working on getting him a bit of a bigger home, but for now he's happy and healthy and that's all I'm concerned with.
Madi Davis too big? I’m so excited, I’m getting a 22 litre (5.8 gallon) tank on Sunday and then when it is set up and ready to go I’m going Betta shopping! I’ve always wanted one and set up was too expensive but I found a great deal on a second hand one (the Aqua One 22L) with all of the stuff I needed to have my very own betta 🖤
My betta is too curious, he swims to the mug to check it out when i want to scoop him out. He is small but very brave and always guarding his tank. Last month i transferred him to a 15 gallon from a 5 gallon, if i could take a video of his entry.... he was so happy exploring every nook and corner.
Mine will start swimming in little loops around the tubing of the siphon, so it takes me forever to get anything done because all he wants to do is play around it haha :) I want to transfer him to a 10 or 15 gal from his 5.5 gal when I have the resources to :)
I love how clean and sleek this tank looks!!! 😍 i just got a betta and i love the little guy. i was so used to having all guppies, i refused to get other fishes and i dont regret my betta. he's a sweetie.
I really really love how your betta looks, so pretty! It's unfortunate that dumbo ears aren't a good trait for the bettas themselves, even if they look gorgeous
This video is what started it all for me. I've always wanted an aquarium but never really went out of my way to get one. Last week after watching this video, I spent a few hundred dollars (~$300) and got myself FLUVAL SPEC V aquarium( like the one you have), water heater, substrate, decorations, live plants, a BEAUTIFUL paradise betta fish, 2 mystery nails, water conditioner etc. etc. Since purchasing my aquarium I came to know a lot about fish keeping, I've joined online forums for aquarists and I've come to know about the nitrogen cycle and breaking your tank in. Spent another $100 or so dollars and got myself API test kit, stress reducing conditioners etc. etc. This video is where it all began, I will be a life long aquarist now. Thank You
I’m no expert, but in my experience I have learned that it’s less stressful on the betta for you to get it used to the siphon rather than taking it out during every water change. I’m open to any opposing ideas, so let me know if I’m misguided!
I'm just terrified that I'm going to suck up any of my bettas. All mine are rescues and are very tiny, (yet old, no getting bigger i guess. So siphoning scares me!
I completely agree. I don’t take my bettas out during water changes. It’s much more stress on them. Plus, in any other tank setup, you don’t take the fish out. Why should bettas be any different from them?
Lovetuv it’s hard for me to get my siphon to start sucking up water so it causes the water to move around a lot. Is it easy for you to get your siphon started? Should I get a new one? I just have the aqueon one
Yeah unless somehow you can train your betta to enjoy getting netted up. I'd say just being careful and gentle while cleaning your fish tank while the fish are still in it is best.
I pronounce betta as "bay-ta" as well. Always have always will. It's based on where you live, and that's how it's pronounced where I live. I always find the other way so odd. Oh well
Omg please make more betta fish videos! I have had mine for 2 years and have learned so much I wanna keep him as happy as possible and I think I need a tank like yours!
great to see you posting videos about betta fish. i have one myself in a 5 gallon and our water change process is pretty similar. i used to have sand but i got tired of it getting all over the place so i switched to gravel and its much less maintenance haha. one thing i wanted to mention is that i dont see a heater or thermometer for your tank. i guess since youre in florida it doesnt get that cold but im in texas and sometimes the water temp does drop down to 60 especially at night in the winter time. anyways, love your videos, keep up the good work!
Yes!!! I really want to see videos on your other Pets!!! And I just want to tell you that your calendar inspired my own calendar on my Pets!!! Thanks soooo much!!!
I don't know if you have one or not since you didn't mention it in the video, but you should get a heater if you don't have one already. Also, you should always acclimate your fish before putting him into the tank or he can go into shock or have a stroke if the temperature change is too much. Acclimation gets the betta used to the water temperature.
Bettas in particular NEED temperatures from around 75-82, and if it gets in the low 70s or even lower, they won't be able to function properly and will most likely get sick. I'm saying this because a heater is one of the basic requirements for a betta. I don't know if she has one or not, but I was concerned that if she doesn't then she should get one.
If I recall, I'm pretty sure she lives in Florida or some warmer place so she probably doesn't need one. I live in Upstate NY so I need heaters for all my fish tanks lol but my friend in Texas didn't need one for her betta and she always checked the temperature of his water. But after her new roommate started turning on the A.C. all the time she had to get one cause his water started to get colder. So I think it just depends :)
Gorgeous boy! Love dumbos ☺ I just ordered my calendar and I'm super excited! I have 3 bettas and they are being moved into a 75 gallon split tank! I picked it up from a petco that was closing down so it already had the hook ups for my canister with a few modifications. I love seeing Arlo (spelling?) and would love seeing more of him!
Lovely to see your betta, he's gorgeous. Moved my two goldfish to a pond in the spring and I'm missing having fish but don't have the space for goldfish at the moment. Thinking setting up a small betta tank so thank you for sharing yours with us!
Thank you for this informative and helpful video! My daughter brought home her class betta and I'm just trying to learn how to start caring for the lil guy! He's really sweet though.
This video helped me so much! I just got my tank yesterday and I get my Betta fish for my birthday (Thursday/Friday). I haven’t had a fish since I was six and he didn’t live long so I’m trying to do it right! :)
i agree. MOST bettas like the water warmer. I have had one that seemed to do good w/o the heater, but overall i would want one in the tank. Some people have a very warm house which could effect it some too.
scoobydoo316us Yup. Basically it's normally warm here in the summer but very cold in the winter so I keep heaters for my 2 bettas and pleco with my 2 mystery snails. Since bettas are from Southeast Asia it's normally warm there year round so I try to give a fish the care and stuff like in it's natural environment.
Its winter time right now where I live and my bettas water temps drops down to 65 but no lower. He's lived for 3 years already and bettas actually live longer in cooler waters.
I have this same tank for my betta fish. It is amazing! Your tank looks great and so does your betta! My betta's one year birthday with me is next month!
I'm glad I found your channel, this was very informative and I am especially glad you linked the items seen in the video so I could check them out for myself. Your betta fish is gorgeous, by the way!
I just got a dumbo betta named Cosmo and he lives in a fluval spec V as well! I also modified my filter flow by pulling off the little nozzle at the end and shoving a piece of fine sponge in there. so that's another option for fixing the flow.
I have two bettas, and one them gets more stressed by being removed from the tank than he does by the bother of me cleaning around him! Bettas are so funny - they always have such different personalities :)
betta fish can sometimes get bored so you can always change up your placement of the decorations to keep the little guy interested :). training it to do tricks is quite fun as well, and it keeps it happy and curious :3.
That's what I did at first, but he got wise and started hiding in the branches of the driftwood when the cup/bowl came near. It caused more stress that way since I had to chase him around with the cup (creating water current as I went), so now I just use a net. Problem solved! :)
with such a small tank the fish would be a lot more stressed out by the water sloshing around than he would be by just being scooped up, so it probably is a better idea to take him out every time
I've watched a different video saying betta fish are not good swimmers. lol. they're fish! they live in water! i have a 10 gallon tank.my filter has a decent amount of current.if he wants he has plenty of space to hide or get out of it and chill but alot of the time prefers to swim and drift in the current. great video and you're beautiful!
love your video i subscribed , i used to raise and breed betta till i ended up with 300 fry at once and drove my husband nuts so we gave all fry mom and dad to a pet store but i loved it and miss it
I love this tank too! I have the all black one and have shrimp and Endlers in it. I love micro fish. Your Beta looks so pretty. I also love your moss balls! So cute.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦐
Your betta is so pretty! I have a mystery snail with my betta boy and they're always together. I read online though that fresh water snails prefer gravel rather than sand so you'd probably have to change that if you're thinking about adding one :)
Heyy i love your bettafish! Im a betta breeder from indonesia and i suggest u to use dried cattappa leaves also salt (better use aquarium salt). It neutralizes the ph and condition the water too! the salt is for antibacterial purpose! Goodluck!
The white cave rock can be found at petsmart &/or petco. I hang mine at top of tank about 1" or so from top of water for him to rest in and lay on. Hang tube like things with string, cording etc & a suction cup on outside. Can adjust level to what fish like.
Jenny I had a Betta about a year ago his name was indigo and he lived for four years his last two months he got sick a lot. and I always had trouble with keeping his tank clean so now I have a good way to keep my next one clean. thank you
Hi I was just wondering what the maintenance is like for this tank, I mean to say how often do you change the water with the set up you have shown (single betta). A stunning tank by the way... Looking to replicate it in my bedroom
I am loving your channel!! I am learning a lot which I appreciate as I am starting out my first betta tank. Quick question where can I find your white betta cave? All I seem to come across are gray/rock looking.
Am I the only one who though "oh crap!"When the cat jumped up on the counter next to where the betta is
Elijah D. Trump.. my heart stoped for a second 😂😂

Creative Pet Keeping hi I love your videos
Creative Pet Keeping ..whaa? need videos of this
Yes! Bettas are highly trainable and they can learn skills too like jumping.
Yeah! It also puts less stress on the bettas!!
Gourgus babydoll
Not sure about everyone else here on the channel but I would love to see some more betta videos. Your little boy is adorable and I've definitely had a hard time getting some solid advice on betta keeping. Hard to find people who know what they're talking about in that department for some reason.... I can't tell you how many people tell me that my 3 gallon tank is too big for Hendrix (my lil guy).
and for all you haters out there I'm working on getting him a bit of a bigger home, but for now he's happy and healthy and that's all I'm concerned with.
Aw Hendrix... what a cute name!
My betta has a 10 gallon tank because he's my little King! 👑😂
And 3 gallons isn't too bad for a betta, at least until you can buy him a home that's a bit bigger.
You can get solid beta advice from Taylor Nichole dean
Madi Davis too big? I’m so excited, I’m getting a 22 litre (5.8 gallon) tank on Sunday and then when it is set up and ready to go I’m going Betta shopping! I used to have a betta fish, and he would always stare at me and chase my finger. They're very smart, curious lil guys!
That tank is beautiful. I wish I had a better tank for my betta.
Admiral Ackbar Badum tss
I use a storage bin lol
Kiki The hamster 😑
Kiki The hamster me too!
Average Misfit you can buy a 10 gallon at Walmart for $14
I got so stressed when the cat jumped up in my head I was like "SURELY I'M NOT ABOUT TO WITNESS A MURDER"😅

Solid Gold Aquatics I'm getting the same tank for Xmas! I really love your betta vids please post more of him!
Solid Gold Aquatics great video, 2:49 😲
What is the tan thing wth holes? Could you please include a link?
my betta actually jumps out of the cup sometimes while I do water changes, they're really good at jumping so I have to put a cover over it.
Nice vid Jenny, looks like we both decided to cover water changes this week :)
That’s cool how similar channels act like friends!!
How often do you change water?
AQUAPROS I see you on every fish video wth
I love how clean and sleek this tank looks!!! 😍 i just got a betta and i love the little guy. i was so used to having all guppies, i refused to get other fishes and i dont regret my betta. he's a sweetie.

Sabrina Where did you get the mystery snails from? I have a Unicorn betta coming soon and want some sort of companions for him and algae control.
I’m no expert, but in my experience I have learned that it’s less stressful on the betta for you to get it used to the siphon rather than taking it out during every water change. I’m open to any opposing ideas, so let me know if I’m misguided!

Curious! I was wondering where you got the little white hide from?! It would be a lovely addition to my tank!
Emilia Fita wow I’m late 😂😂 but I guess if you still want one you can get them at Walmart
Dumbos are so wavy, I love them! I saw one the other day and almost bought it, even though I have no room. Arlo is so pretty!
the waviness also comes from the half moon part my half moon betta Moon Bean was wavy but today he died
great to see you posting videos about betta fish. i have one myself in a 5 gallon and our water change process is pretty similar. i used to have sand but i got tired of it getting all over the place so i switched to gravel and its much less maintenance haha. one thing i wanted to mention is that i dont see a heater or thermometer for your tank. i guess since youre in florida it doesnt get that cold but im in texas and sometimes the water temp does drop down to 60 especially at night in the winter time. anyways, love your videos, keep up the good work!
I love seeing a how-to video from an established betta tank where the fish is thriving. Thanks for posting this!!
Use cherry shrimp. They love the moss balls.
The betta might be agressive to them.
maria portnoy possible. But cherry shrimp are easy to rehome in case of any aggression.
Yeah thats true
would be better and safe for the cherry shrimp if there is a plant they can hide to.
The cherry shrimp are adorable, but bettas will want to eat them... they need a lot of hiding spots if your betta is a good hunter!
I have watched this already 10000 times but, its solid gold and your beta fish and its tank is sooo beautiful
02:50 "Oh, wow. What a lovely Christmas present! Sushi! I'll just help myself to a- Hey!"
Don't worry about being consistent with Tuesday videos! We love u no matter what Jenny!!
Yes!!! I really want to see videos on your other Pets!!! And I just want to tell you that your calendar inspired my own calendar on my Pets!!! Thanks soooo much!!!
Your betta tank set up is so beautiful and aesthetic

Ellen Jarrard fish are cold blood. They can change their temp.

i LOVE Your Betta!!!!!!!!!!! SO pretty! i Love elephant ears Bettas. there my favorite!!!
I'm more of a fan of rosetails, but elephant ears can be really pretty. This comment is kinda old, so are you still keeping betta fish?
Lovely to see your betta, he's gorgeous. Moved my two goldfish to a pond in the spring and I'm missing having fish but don't have the space for goldfish at the moment. Thinking setting up a small betta tank so thank you for sharing yours with us!
You have the best betta EVER (mine is blue purple and white)
Matt Soltesz I have a blue one
Mine's silver with black fins. Any name suggestions?
@Rose Lee LOL.... I decided to name him Asterix.
@Rose Lee Hope you have atleast a 3 gallon tank with filter, heater, and live/silk plants.....
@Rose Lee They don't really need an air pump..... They are labyrinth fish, they breath surface air. A heater and a filter is good enough.
Thank you for this informative and helpful video! My daughter brought home her class betta and I'm just trying to learn how to start caring for the lil guy! He's really sweet though.
What kind of plants do you have on the driftwood & how did you attach them? Thanks
It's funny you ask, because the last video I did on my betta tank answers all your questions! Here ya go: ruclips.net/video/JkGlcUiVSS0/видео.html
Solid Gold Aquatics awesome thanks!
This video helped me so much! I just got my tank yesterday and I get my Betta fish for my birthday (Thursday/Friday). I haven’t had a fish since I was six and he didn’t live long so I’m trying to do it right! :)
Hello random person looking at the comments 😊 I just got a Betta...I really love this vid!
Your betta fish looks majestic
Where did you get your wood???
Mr. Purple
You can get most woods like that at any pet store. They’re in the aquarium section
That is a gorgeous betta tank! Love the set up and beautiful fish!
How come your drift wood is so hold on to one place when you're dumping water like that? 😮
Saikat Sengupta magic
She has it tied down to a grate under the sand.
Love your aquarium, a luxury apartment with special leaf for close to surface sleeping and lovely driftwood with lots of fresh growth.
I love how to cat just jumped to the bowl like “Ooh snaccos”
I love your betta tank set up and you have such a beautiful betta! I just recently got a betta, thank you for the cleaning tips!
Great job with the betta! But I do have 1 question. Do you have a heater? Bettas need heaters plus it'll keep them healthier.
Twilight Betta a heater is required during the winter for sure.
Its winter time right now where I live and my bettas water temps drops down to 65 but no lower. He's lived for 3 years already and bettas actually live longer in cooler waters.
She lives in Florida
Beautiful tank. Simple and effective, stunning betta
can you tell me where you get that little cave thing?
aquarium shops sell them
I have this same tank for my betta fish. It is amazing! Your tank looks great and so does your betta! My betta's one year birthday with me is next month!
Very helpful, as always. I love watching your videos.
The most beautiful Betta I've seen in a long time.
I love ur hair!!!
Your betta looks amazing!!
2:50 made my heart skip a beat
I'm glad I found your channel, this was very informative and I am especially glad you linked the items seen in the video so I could check them out for myself. Your betta fish is gorgeous, by the way!
Where did the white rock come from
That's just the video I need for today. My Betta needs a bit of help, and this would be good to follow.
2:50 Cat almost had a nice sushi snack
I just got a dumbo betta named Cosmo and he lives in a fluval spec V as well!
I also modified my filter flow by pulling off the little nozzle at the end and shoving a piece of fine sponge in there. so that's another option for fixing the flow.
Fabulous betta!
I’m researching to get a betta soon and this video answered SO many questions!
I accidentally used my aquarium toothbrush for my teeth and I cried...
Awesome little tank! Gorgeous Betta! We've got a nerite snail in our Betta tank and it does wonders!
I would love to see a video of your leopard gecko
I have two bettas, and one them gets more stressed by being removed from the tank than he does by the bother of me cleaning around him! Bettas are so funny - they always have such different personalities :)
I like how the cat was like "oh the fish is is out again 😺 time for revenge yum "
that tank and the fish are so lovely to look at, i want 10!
that cat scared me, i was like "NO NO NOOO NOT THE CATTT" 😵😵
betta fish can sometimes get bored so you can always change up your placement of the decorations to keep the little guy interested :). training it to do tricks is quite fun as well, and it keeps it happy and curious :3.
You could get a bigger cup and just scoop up the betta instead of using a net, just to minimize stress, that's what I do!
That's what I did at first, but he got wise and started hiding in the branches of the driftwood when the cup/bowl came near. It caused more stress that way since I had to chase him around with the cup (creating water current as I went), so now I just use a net. Problem solved! :)
Solid Gold Aquatics You don’t have to take him out to do water changes though....
with such a small tank the fish would be a lot more stressed out by the water sloshing around than he would be by just being scooped up, so it probably is a better idea to take him out every time
That’s such a pretty tank! That’s such a gorgeous betta!
your betta is adorable
I look at your beta and remind me of my old beta.
I miss him.
The video is so beautiful :)
2:51 imagine the cat ate the fish lol
Can you please do one on cleaning the filter? I have the exact same tank and idk how to do it. Tysm!
I say betta the way you do :)
I know its your tank, and alltho it looks pretty, its not the best Environment for the Betta. It needs darker Sand and WAY more plants.
StoryOfPain it actually doesn't lmao
....sure
Why would darker sand effect it you’re literally the most idiotic person I’ve crossed over this year
Alexis Graystorm you really shouled research befor raging like a madman...smh
StoryOfPain Explain then, save them the time if your such an expert.
Your tank is really aesthetic, I like it
Cat jumped up and was like woo hoo feeding time.
love your video
i subscribed , i used to raise and breed betta till i ended up with 300 fry at once and drove my husband nuts so we gave all fry mom and dad to a pet store but i loved it and miss it
Beautiful betta fish. Very lucky to have been saved.
thanks for the new knowledge especially for someone like me who is new to caring for betta fish❣️
I love this tank too! I have the all black one and have shrimp and Endlers in it. I love micro fish. Your Beta looks so pretty. I also love your moss balls! So cute.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦐
Your Betta is so gorgeous!! I’ve been trying to find one like him!
This tank looks stunning!
Where did you get the tank? By the way love the calendar and merch
Fluval Spec V 5 gallon aquarium - the company name is Fluval. You can get it directly from their website or on Amazon. Hope this helps!
JJ thank you
Where did you get that little cream coloured hide in that tank from? It’s so cute! 😂😊
Thats one beautiful betta
@2:49 my heart skipped a beat when that cat came to catch the fish 😺
Your betta is so pretty! I have a mystery snail with my betta boy and they're always together. I read online though that fresh water snails prefer gravel rather than sand so you'd probably have to change that if you're thinking about adding one :)
Heyy i love your bettafish! Im a betta breeder from indonesia and i suggest u to use dried cattappa leaves also salt (better use aquarium salt). It neutralizes the ph and condition the water too! the salt is for antibacterial purpose! Goodluck!
Where did you buy the driftwood and shelter? Looks really good, my favorite so far.
Wow!You look gorgeous. You’re tank looks so nice and clean.
The white cave rock can be found at petsmart &/or petco. I hang mine at top of tank about 1" or so from top of water for him to rest in and lay on. Hang tube like things with string, cording etc & a suction cup on outside. Can adjust level to what fish like.
Jenny I had a Betta about a year ago his name was indigo and he lived for four years his last two months he got sick a lot. and I always had trouble with keeping his tank clean so now I have a good way to keep my next one clean. thank you
wow that tank is so pretty and simple, and i love that.
I have the same kind of betta fish. They are so beautiful! 😍❤
Wow, such a clean look. Very nice.
