That is both heart breaking and heart warming. I'm so thankful you guys rescued her and she is happy. So sad about Mom and the fact that she struggled so hard to hang on so her baby wouldn't be left alone
She was a trusting little thing right off the bat. Look at those eyes and her trunk, loving and sweet all the time. Watching her having fun in the dust like that reminds me of Wendi at the same age. She will make a wonderful matriarch one day. God is watching Dame Sheldrick. You and the keepers will have a lot to teach in God's kingdom.
It was heartwrenching to see the kid beside her deceased mother..But by the end of video, the mood was heartwarming..Thank you Sheldrick for saving these orphans🙏🙏
another one of our fosters. what a wonderful muddy time she is having. such brave babies without their mothers but they have the love of the keepers and their fellow orphans.
P.S. All your videos are wonderful but this one is longer and with more information on Kuishi's rescue than usual! Thank you so much to the filmers and editors!!!!
The behavior at 3:11 is so very moving to me. " Hi baby. I can be your friend, your sister maybe? Please let me be your friend, sweet baby." Just wrings tears.
Totally in love with this baby elephant. She has seemingly overcome her grief and moving on. I especially liked the way she caked herself in earth. Very amusing! 😊
johnny thunders That's understandable. I agree. There's a deep message in this video, that how it's very difficult to obtain food in real nature and how we, humans, always waste food while do many people and animals die from starvation. This should be a lesson for us. God bless DSWTKENYA for saving these precious babies.
"Foster Parents" visiting? Boy you people really lay it on thick , quite the marketing tactic! I'm sure that hooks the naive Americans in hook line and sinker. You all are experts at that. I bet you dont get many locals donating to your cause? No? Just a bunch of naive tourists? Wow you guys are. Class act! I will thanks you for the amazing hunting your going to provide in about 10 years when the elephants are running a muck destroying everything in their path when they arent cute little fundraisers anymore. The culls should be awesome to witness too
Oh my God, bless her little soul! :( I'm so glad that she is now in the fostering program, coz I was reading the Keepers Diary and I was wandering why she wasn't in the program yet... She's a loving little calf, and looks like she settled in the nursery very well! :)
A tragic and very sad start, but such a delightful ending here. :) May she have a wonderful, long and safe life, and God bless all of her rescuers and carers. ~KwaZULU Natal~ xox
So in Kenya we have children starving to death and dying of diseases from lack of water and basic medical care, yet there is a sky vet to care for elephants? Seriously? Can you imagine how much a starving child in this country would appreciate a private plane ride to all the food and medicine they need. Yet that is reserved for elephants? My god this world has lost its mind! If you support this warped inequity Shame on you.
very very good work , what DSW is doing m representing what humans should be like, to intervene and help the other creatures with our knowledge and resources. help the voiceless innocent wildlife
Thank you for all you do in saving the elephants and getting them the help they need for physical and emotional health. I'd love it if the videos were more like 6 to 10 minutes long! You could have two versions of each elephant rescue...both the short form and a longer video...as least once in a while lol. The part I miss the most in the new videos is when the rescued elephant calf meets the other orphans for the very first time and their first interactions in calming down due to meeting the other orphans. Also I use to love the part where an older orphan would take the new elephant under their wing, the name of the older elephant and knowing a bit of the personality not just of the new orphan but of the older elephant(s) that now watches over the new ellie. I know that this information may see obvious or typical in most of the rescues but we love to know about how they react to the other orphans and how the elephant mind works in a single and group setting. Each elephant is special and so each elephant's information is very special to watchers and consolidates our knowledge of both the individual elephants and elephant society in general. You can never get too much information in this very personal video formate. Regular updates on each elephant would be SO nice. Again, thank you so much to all the people both there and internationally who help these lovely animals and the wonderful people who donate to this wonderful endeavor!
I am thrilled that Kuishi is THRIVING at the Sheldrick Orphanage! My heart goes out to her and all the other orphaned ellies, for having lost their mother's (I relate, as I lost mine at the age of 10...and have 8 other siblings who lost her as well, the youngest was only 6 y/o). It is traumatic, indeed. So THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU and will donate asap to help fund your GREAT work! 💞🌾🐘🌾💞
I have watched your videos covering multiple years. My thought is that as the elephants return to the wild one benefit is that the wild herd will now have a more diverse gene pool since the orphans come from so many areas. Great! I am so impressed with the wonderful work of the keepers. Do they have common sounds that they use to communicate with the orphans? Common hand signals? Thank you for all that you do.
Thank you for trying to save the mom but she now knows her daughter is being cared for by your wonderful organization God bless all of you She now looks so happy & loved

When you think about it, in this wide world, the lonely little baby without a mom would never make it. Just imagine the baby stands next to mom until the lions or hyenas move in....It was such a huge relief to see baby was found by the loving hands.
Heartbreaking image of the little baby by her mother’s dead body. I can only imagine her fear and despair. She’s a sweet lovely girl, I’m so happy she settled in beautifully with the other orphans. Nothing better than a friendly trunk to mend a broken heart 💔 ❤️🩹
Beyond the pain of her mother's absence, it is a relief that they arrived in time to save that precious girl who got used to her new life with her brothers in that beautiful place. ❤ thank you for the effort and dedication. and for protecting them!!!❤

These dedicated care givers deserve a lot of respect and love from everyone for what they do to rescue these babies!!!💝💝💝💝💝
That is both heart breaking and heart warming. I'm so thankful you guys rescued her and she is happy. So sad about Mom and the fact that she struggled so hard to hang on so her baby wouldn't be left alone
I cried for the mother elephant. Her eyes explains her emotions and pain 😭😭😭
Her taking the keepers hand with her trunk.....so sweet! Will take that with me through the day.
The AFRICAN ELEPHANTS have such beautiful big ears that frame their faces like a HEART when they are open.

I met Kuishi in December I'm so glad she's doing well.
Glad to see Toyota donated a new truck ! Thanks !,
Unfortunately Toyota isn't a corporate supporter of ours and all Toyota vehicles we use in the field have always been purchased, not donated.
Its tragic to lose her mother.. Thank God she didn't see her mother murdered. She us a star, and will help other babies someday.
I know all the keepers say you can see them smile in their eyes but i swear i see them smiling through their mouths!
i so wish they saved Mother as well...:-(((((((...such a magnificent animal....heart breaking to watch

She embraced her new life in SWT, so nice.
It is grand that she has made it to this point. Her young mother would still be strong and alive if drought had not been caused.
