What I really love about this is that when the Elephants are sent back to the wild, they come back after a few months or years and visit with the new orphans. They also come back when they are injured or hungry. They remember the men that helped them. :)

The mud is not only a fun time for the young elephants but it is also vital for them to learn to cover themselves with mud. Mud is used as an insect repellent and as a sun screen for the elephants.

I could watch this joyful, relaxed scene forever and ever. Thank you for representing what it's like to visit DSWT. The one time I got close to a lovely female elephant in Pondicherry, I did not want to leave. She was a "temple" elephant, and I felt sad that she had to stand all day appeasing tourists. The keepers/vets at DSWT seem courageous and lovely. This organization is my new fave.

Say no to Ivory & say no to elephant rides where the elephants are forced through the "crushing" to perform "tricks". God Bless all who adopt them & always, if you want to see elephants up close, go to David Sheldrick Trust as You have done or go to Elephant Nature Park in Thailand where the Elephants rescued from the brutality of the mahoots, have been given back a chance at life with nature. Please never buy ivory, never watch them perform, never ride them. And never buy rhino horn. Thank You for doing the right thing

Does anybody know how much the raise? I accidentally came across this bit.
I'm not genetically invested in the future, so half heartedly wondering what else we can afford then helping local cats.
If anyone has a link they think will help - I couldn't hear a lot of the lecture. Splashing and wind.
Oh and does anyone know the difference between Asian and African elephants besides locale and sun issues. Please
And thank you for your patience with my ignorance.
