Ultramarines really do have so many tricks to deploy for every situation. We have our fans to thank. This amazing community motivates us and there was great feedback from Season One to use in figuring out what to do for Season Two.
Really good guys. The amount of time cut down by not watching every single dice roll is fantastic. The sidebar with CP and VP really helps make it feel almost like a sporting event. Both were great on camera. If your goal is to get people into the hobby you are absolutely going to achieve it.
Awesome editing on this, and the left-hand pane with VPs, CPs, and the turn number is such a nice feature, it just makes it so much easier to know where things stand at any point. Great job!
On top of the obvious stuff like how well produced these are and how easy to follow the fights are, I love how with the music and the poses the players do it's epic but also goofy and shows you guys don't take yourselves too seriously. Excited for more to come!
Yikes, was interested to see gow tyranid plays, but after this I can't imagine the hours and money just to lovingly bring cannon fodder into the world that die turn 1 before even doing anything.
Your diff style of battle reports are the BEST ones ive seen.Good editing, straight to the point, fun and casual I love it,its engaging and not boring and encourages me to play the game!
It is crazy how much better Play On Tabletop bat reps are than every other channel. The time, effort and production value put into each one is such a game changer. Please keep this going forever as they are the only bat reps that feel like I'm watching "ESPN Tabletop".
I don't know anything about the table top game or how it plays, but I just love the universe and how it looks, the editing and the scenery is so well made, and these guys make it look so much fun to play.
The fast pacing, combination overhead and handheld camera angles, high-level strategies and tactics, and - most importantly - not needing to show every single die roll, really help with making this wonderfully watchable. The choices and their outcomes are much more interesting than any except the most clutch dice rolls.
First 40k match I ever watched! Didn't get most of it, but since the players were explaining every move, It made more comfortable to keep watching. I only have one feedback: it would be really nice to have more match data displayed on the screen, at least the dice rolls!
Glad it was comfortable to watch! In the current season we have a dice box now incorporated into the show. This particular episode is from Season 2 and we have continued to innovate and evolve since in the hopes of making the content more accessible.
This is what I love about 40k. The kind and welcoming community helped me get into it. Seeing two dudes just do what they love is both entertaining and sorta wholesome! Love the vids!
You make this game so approachable!!! I love 40K and play/read everything except TT, and the time you take to explain things, from setup, characters, deployment, movement, etc. makes this so enjoyable. I also love the top down camera animations you guys add to show direction of fire. So cool. Keep it up!
Really well put together - the editing, the cinematic shots, tension building but not intrusive music, a beautiful board, and great players. You could tell they were both having a great time and that made it so much fun. The interview sections are a really neat idea too, they break it up and give you an opportunity to learn something into the bargain. Awesome job to everyone involved.
Thank you! We've worked really hard through a full season, learning every step of the way to make what we aim to be an entertaining show from beginning to end.
@@Hatguy23 we use a subscription to get access to music. We did provide credits on our video during the end credits sequence. Something new we decided to do this season because people seemed to ask about our music often.

Having Season One and a vocal and supportive community here is great. We got to learn a lot and take what we learned to Season Two. It was a lot of hard work to refine it but we are quite happy. Thank you from Canada!

Holy shit this is an amazing batrep. You guys are definitely the top dogs ATM. Coming from a new player who doesn't play space marines or nids, eveything was explained super well, visually beautiful and overall fun tot watch and learnt a lot from it!
I can say that the production quality and information given makes this extremely watchable for someone who doesn't even play 40k. Great job, keep 'em coming!
@@PlayOnTabletop I'm definitely interested, but starting from scratch without a friend in person who already plays it seems pretty daunting and expensive. Once quarantine ends I might find a local game store to ask some questions and look into it more.
Play On Tabletop On the subject of future batreps, is this the only one you were able to produce before lockdown happened or is there more coming to keep the channel going until it’s safe to play 40k again?
You guys are absolutely killing it. Production quality, pacing, personalities, voiceovers, models: all top notch. You folks are setting the bar for sure.
Awesome production, it's so polished, I love it. One minor issue I had was the sound was kind of uneven. Music was loud and voices hard to hear. But other than that, awesome! Looking forward to more!
@@PlayOnTabletop Yeah, gonna echo the above comment. The music was distracting, not just in the volume, but the Imagine Dragons-type music was really not my cup of tea. Maybe something more atmospheric so the focus can be more on the game.
@@GangstaMuffin24 got it. We get quite a few comments on music and selection is tough. We had one person say they felt the music was not very 40k-ish. We think there are two things at play. Matching music to the game lore (grimdark war) and matching music to player tones and actions. These can be two very different and conflicting tones to match. Thank you for the feedback, we will keep striving to find the right match.
Always enjoy watching these videos. I haven't played 40k since 4th edition so don't really understand the rules anymore, but still love the pace that these videos have!
Play On Tabletop Haha thanks guys! I still have an assortment of tyranids knocking about so maybe! Keep up the great content I can’t wait for the next one.
The joy of seeing the best 40k vids on the planet back for another season warms the heart! Btw - 30:36 - dont let a colleague walk in front of the camera and diminish the 40 minutes of finely tuned, beautifully edited batrep artistry. The Emperor protects!
I always love the voice of the announcer, feels like a proper sporting event!!! Great set up and the enthusiasm to play just makes it that much more enjoyable.
I’m so glad I stumbled on this channel just now. Excellent music, graphics and editing. It’s just an all round crisp and well made experience - also a nice touch with the small interviews interspersed. Two very skilled tournament players with a great attitude. I also like it’s kept in a neat package of about 40 minutes. Subbed!
This and the 2nd Battle Report was a doozy of an edit. We had the success of Season One to improve on and we went through comments to see where we could make changes. After countless hours of refining we got something we are quite happy with.
It's very good. My only feedback would be some of the cuts around dice rolling are a little abrupt, but it's really quick-fire stuff, so transitions would be pretty tricky.
I'm really like the deployment zone overview and the firing effects on the top-down view. It does a great job of demonstrating what is shooting at what. I wonder if something similar to could implemented for close combat? Like an animation of sorts? Excellent work. I feel like after a poor turn 2 the game was basically decided. Perhaps when making battle reports like this the players should take lists that are more balanced? For example, the ultramarine player took units that are specifically good against tyranids and GSC. I feel like subbing out the aggressors, calgar, and the repulsor for less optimized choices would have made for a better game overrall.
The lists got reviewed by the team and we placed some restrictions as we do want close and thrilling games, so we hear you. For instance, for Ultramarines we did not allow anything that could shoot out of line of sight or slow down the Tyranids like a Thunderfire Cannon that can half their movement. Tak's lists often utilize Thunderfire cannons, whirlwinds, and a Leviathan Dreadnought instead of the Redemptor. Turn 2 could have gone the other way as Alex created an opportunity for himself as the Bikes could have removed the Repulsor and the Trygon should have outright killed the Redemptor. Dice to what dice do.
This is the first of these sorts pf games I've watched from beginning to end and it's amazing how much you can pick up. At the start I hadn't a clue what was happening, other than there is a battle. However, at the end I think I understood the rudimentary parts. Fun to watch and both players came across as very cool guys.
It is not perfect. On the one hand we are really excited and want everyone to see this now. On the other hand we love Live Premieres where we can chat with the audience and want a lot of people to know about it so it can be one big party. We also have Patreon, which helps us big time do this thing we love to do, and we want to give them value there. Again, this is not perfect and please stick with us and we hope its worth the wait!

As his opponent so did I. Alex is a Champion. The only other time I played him was a grand tournament and he won by a narrow 29-28 and it was my favourite game that weekend. He won the tournament and I came in second. This time, I had some back up plans and was focused on not making any mistakes (which I still did) and wanted both of us to be at our best so I could test what I learned from our last battle.
Thanks! That is our goal. Make it entertaining enough to feel accessible and encourage people to give it a go.
We are pretty serious when it comes to having fun and glad it shows.
This might be the single best battlereport I have seen on youtube... good balance between speed and explainations. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Yikes, was interested to see gow tyranid plays, but after this I can't imagine the hours and money just to lovingly bring cannon fodder into the world that die turn 1 before even doing anything.
Tyranid & Ork moment right there.
@@chiptuna8292 Yes. But Ork ID funnui
Your diff style of battle reports are the BEST ones ive seen.Good editing, straight to the point, fun and casual I love it,its engaging and not boring and encourages me to play the game!
Then mission accomplished for us. We want to share our passion for this game and hope it inspires more people to play
It is crazy how much better Play On Tabletop bat reps are than every other channel. The time, effort and production value put into each one is such a game changer. Please keep this going forever as they are the only bat reps that feel like I'm watching "ESPN Tabletop".
We worked hard at a different style then what we have seen out there so glad you appreciate it!
this is beyond fantastic, thank you for taking time to put the effort into making this high quality!
We enjoy every moment and sharing these with you. When work is fun it does not feel like work and we have a lot of fun making these.
I don't know anything about the table top game or how it plays, but I just love the universe and how it looks, the editing and the scenery is so well made, and these guys make it look so much fun to play.
We have a lot of fun playing! Thank you for watching
Best Report Battle Channel for sure. Its great, we understand what happen without watching for 10 hours the game. Great.
Thank you! We do like our condensed format and glad you enjoyed it!
I'm new to 40k. This show is so much fun. Excellent job, keep going!
Welcome to 40k and hope you are enjoying it!
@@PlayOnTabletop Awesome! Definitely going to catch the newer ones then!
This is what I love about 40k. The kind and welcoming community helped me get into it. Seeing two dudes just do what they love is both entertaining and sorta wholesome! Love the vids!
Incredible match, I loved that they played it out till the end.
I never quit and neither do my nids
@@alexmacdougall5700 We love that about you Alex, You were a dream to shoot for this video!
You make this game so approachable!!! I love 40K and play/read everything except TT, and the time you take to explain things, from setup, characters, deployment, movement, etc. makes this so enjoyable. I also love the top down camera animations you guys add to show direction of fire. So cool. Keep it up!
Super high quality! Very fast and enjoyable battrep full of details! LOVE IT. Keep it going! I'm looking forward to watch the next one!
Thank you! Next up is Necrons vs Blood Angels.
@@PlayOnTabletop nice! Hope to see some IK or Ad Mech
@@PlayOnTabletop Quick question - who does the music? It doesn't appear to be credited in any of your videos?
@@Hatguy23 we use a subscription to get access to music. We did provide credits on our video during the end credits sequence. Something new we decided to do this season because people seemed to ask about our music often.
@@PlayOnTabletop Ah cool and yeah not surprised, it's great stuff : )
You guys are improving sooo much. Also great that the music is not always the same and overwhelming and different volumes throughout the game. Cheers from the Netherlands.
Best battle report channel. Hope you set the stage for others to improve!
Having Season One and a vocal and supportive community here is great. We got to learn a lot and take what we learned to Season Two. It was a lot of hard work to refine it but we are quite happy. Thank you from Canada!
I really like the Production value of this, great camera shots, good explanation of what going on but still making it flow. even the smaller details like the added shot animations.
I've been a 40k fan for over a decade now but only just now found this channel... I may have to go back and watch season 1, this is great stuff!
Glad you found us and hope you enjoy season one.
Holy shit this is an amazing batrep. You guys are definitely the top dogs ATM. Coming from a new player who doesn't play space marines or nids, eveything was explained super well, visually beautiful and overall fun tot watch and learnt a lot from it!
Thank you! Yes, we have our sights set high and want to grow this channel. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great job! Your Battle Reports are easily accessible to new players. You guys are doing a great job; can't wait for more of season two.
We really want to share this hobby with as many people as we can, familiar and completely new.
It's the first battle report I watched from start to finish. Splendiferous editing! :D
Nick is a splendiferous editor, so that makes sense!
Yay! Mission accomplished then. Thank you for watching.
I can say that the production quality and information given makes this extremely watchable for someone who doesn't even play 40k. Great job, keep 'em coming!
Glad you liked it. Would you ever give the game a go?
@@PlayOnTabletop I'm definitely interested, but starting from scratch without a friend in person who already plays it seems pretty daunting and expensive. Once quarantine ends I might find a local game store to ask some questions and look into it more.
ONE MILLION thanks from all of us for so many amazing videos!! Clearly bugs and smurfs are the fan favourites!
Well that’s something fun to celebrate!
As someone who has been out of the 40k loop for the past 15 years - I really appreciate the production, explanations, and presentation here.
I feel like Alex's rolling let him down there. His tactics seemed spot on but you can't legislate for fate. Excellent batrep and can't wait for more!
Yes we agree. His Turn 2 could have been devastating to the Ultramarines.
Play On Tabletop On the subject of future batreps, is this the only one you were able to produce before lockdown happened or is there more coming to keep the channel going until it’s safe to play 40k again?
You shall see very soon
I didn't even know this kind of thing existed. I enjoy watching this, and the sportsmanship displayed here was above and beyond.
The production values are amazing!
You guys are absolutely killing it. Production quality, pacing, personalities, voiceovers, models: all top notch. You folks are setting the bar for sure.
Thank you very much for your kind words. This is a labour of love for us, encouraging words like yours are why we keep at it. Thank you for watching!
Awesome production, it's so polished, I love it.
One minor issue I had was the sound was kind of uneven. Music was loud and voices hard to hear.
But other than that, awesome! Looking forward to more!
Sorry. We delt with some sound issues with this one. We will try to quash it for the next one.
@@PlayOnTabletop Very fair! Thanks for taking all the feedback and keep up the good work!
@@PlayOnTabletop which song is it btw? i personally love it!
This is some high-quality stuff! Phenomenal editing with awesome narration and camera-work. Super easy to track. Thank you so much; keep it up ;)
Always enjoy watching these videos. I haven't played 40k since 4th edition so don't really understand the rules anymore, but still love the pace that these videos have!
We have a "How to" for 8th edition on our channel so if you ever want to get back into it we know a video where you can start ;)
Play On Tabletop Haha thanks guys! I still have an assortment of tyranids knocking about so maybe! Keep up the great content I can’t wait for the next one.
My favorite 40k batrep channel by a mile!
The joy of seeing the best 40k vids on the planet back for another season warms the heart!
Btw - 30:36 - dont let a colleague walk in front of the camera and diminish the 40 minutes of finely tuned, beautifully edited batrep artistry.
The Emperor protects!
we had to prove Paul is real and not just an April Fools video. Thanks for watching!
What's a 40k video without a cameo from Paul. He seems to make his way into all our videos.
@@jtmcdowell2331 and thank you for making such watchable content :)
@@PlayOnTabletop with the level of artistry and skill you guys have Im sure you could have had him emerge menacingly from the ruins 😱😱
I always love the voice of the announcer, feels like a proper sporting event!!! Great set up and the enthusiasm to play just makes it that much more enjoyable.
Thank you!
This is the best way to do bat reps I’ve seen. Great job guys
Thank you! We appreciate that!
Subbed!
Thank you for subscribing! We love the support and the comments from this community, it helps us grow and get better at this.
Holy production value, Batman! Great job with editing as well.
Coming to this video i love seeing how far they have come in production and the atmosphere they play in now!
You guys are doing a awesome job with season two. Keep it up!!
Thank you we will!
That was the best production quality of any battle report I've seen. So clear and easy to follow. Subscribed!
Oh yeah guys here we go season 2 boo yeah 🤘
We listened to feedback and suggestions, and we learned a lot from our first season, and we hope you enjoy the changes we made to the new shows.
Play On Tabletop course I’ll enjoy it it’s the great work u guys do all the time 👍
The two best battlereps are the two with less than 1 hour and nice people having fun, congratulations

Video: premiers in 41 hours
Not gunna lie I really hate this premieres function
@@markhanson9508 yeah it can be irritating
It is not perfect. On the one hand we are really excited and want everyone to see this now. On the other hand we love Live Premieres where we can chat with the audience and want a lot of people to know about it so it can be one big party. We also have Patreon, which helps us big time do this thing we love to do, and we want to give them value there. Again, this is not perfect and please stick with us and we hope its worth the wait!

@@PlayOnTabletop I understand how and why it works my issue is not with this channel as I think it's a great channel but with RUclips as a whole. I hope you don't take my negativity as a criticism of yourselves.
best format, editing and overall composition of any 40k game i've seen. awesome job all around guys
A great reenactment of the Battle for Macragge, Tyrannic Wars.
except the ultras got their asses handed to them on macragge, only squeaking out a victory in space and planetside with horrific casualties

Been watching 40k battle reports for years. This one is just indescribably well put together. I see a bright future ahead for this channel!
We hope so too, thanks for watching!
Wow! I was totally hooked by the intro. Love the format, gorgeous paint jobs on the armies and fantastic terrain. The players presented themselves as someone I would like to play. You got another subscriber, looking forward to season 2 while I catch up on season 1. Thanks for sharing!

Omg, i remember watching this being so confused, because this was the first video I have ever seen on a battle report for 40k! Much love
I wish we could have seen that game play out with good rolls for tyranid
We will just need to ask Alex back on the channel.
Dice did what dice did.
@@takkawana8380 Out of curiosity, what do you think your mistakes were? I usually get rekt by melee armies as a gunline, so a pro's advice is always interesting. I play AdMech, if you've got any faction-specific ideas.
Stumbled across this today. Superbly done and very entertaining to watch. Great battle report!
Thank you!
1:51 The muzzle flash on some of the um‘s look really, really nice! Are they 3d printed or how did you make those?
