Tycho gets to take the new Tyranids for a spin and faces Tak's Ultramarines. The Imperium has intel that a new Tyranid, the Norn Assimilator has come to this world and the Ultramarines are tasked with finding and then bringing the beast down.

Seeing Tycho rooting for his enemy and even celebrating losing a big unit and fist bumping his opponent made me so happy, amazing banter and sportsmanship
Tycho is always cheering his buddies on, as well as making sound effects for everything, love his additude!
To be fair, it's easy to be upbeat in situations like this when you know you've already won. I doubt someone losing would put forward the same amount of enthusiasm.

I love that this became a narrative game near the end, and Tac made it an epic moral victory. Dying in the face of overwhelming odds, to kill a greater foe? That's Space Marines in a nutshell.

Gotta say, as much as I'm down on GW in general, they knocked it out of the park with the new bug models. I have a strange urge to build and paint 120 Hormagaunts.

At this point in time, warhammer is like the KFC of tabletop gaming, with D&D being the McDonalds. It's a different menu, different food, but it's still fast food and it's still a recognizable name. It's the big player in what they do and you can't deny that.
Do any of us actually WANT to shove this fastfood junk down our hungry gullet?
Yah, often enough we do. That's why they are the top in their game.
It's a guilty pleasure. An easy escape. A fun distraction. A modern temptation.
Knock the company as much as you want, but remember that they are big enough that you can try to change things from the inside because the things that make GW a problem are in fact a systemic problem, a cultural problem AND an individual problem.
Pick your battles, and have fun otherwise
@@Lunch_Meat With that said, I'm right now more interested in Malifaux models. I don't have a regular gaming group anyway so my only motivation is how much I like the models and Wyrd makes some damn gorgeous models.

Great video! This was a lot of fun. Two beautifully painted armies, superbly edited video, great effects, and two fantastic players showing great sportsmanship. Hats off to Tak for playing a narrative list--something I've always done throughout the years--and win or lose, makes the game a million times better to play, and thumbs up to Tycho for being a stellar personality throughout the video. New Codex looks strong. I’d love to see if they could handle a more chunky melee army like Orks or Daemons though
Well, it's also the first codex, so it could end up being weak if the rest are also immensely powerful, or it could just get nerfed into oblivion
@@gammothdrawsdepends on how you define "nerfed" I think. The storyline seems to be suggesting more and more than nids and chaos are the big bads here. If GW follows their usual standard with the Warhammer end times and even 40k armies like the tau that they want to push, that means the nids may go through a weak period, but ultimately they will always have more competitive units than other armies.
Just a prediction.
Tycho is definitely my favorite player to watch on this channel.

I think Tycho forgot about synapse and the Neutotyrants ability to pass synapse. It might have stopped some of the battle shocks.
He did it but then was out of range start of turn 2 from the right flank.
Always nice to see thematic armies and scenarios.
Tycho and Tak really make this batrep much more exciting because of the narrative they form. Both rooting for each other to do well and it shows that they have mutual respect and a friendship. Keep up the great work guys!

We have a guest coming in soon and is bringing Sisters of Battle. We unfortunately don't have an army of our own and with the incredible time required to paint up armies we just can't start one up ourselves so we rely on guests.

@@PlayOnTabletop Oh I love them too, they're one of the best sculpts from GW. I try to bring them any game I can get away with. Just wish they had better stats. Some AP on their blades would help so much.

Loved this game. Ultramarine strike force being counter-ambushed the moment they arrive. Finding a very angry lictor couple. Can imagine the captain calling for reinforcement as the first marines of his vanguard are chewed up. Terminators arriving only to be chewed up as well, but pulling away the intended target from her guardians and leaving her open to be assassinated. A last ditch effort - that succeeds!
It's a phyrric victory, however. The Ultramarines are no wiser to the real capabilities and threat posed by the Norn Assimilator should there be more out there, they lost many of their brothers, and the Tyranids continue to advance.
This was very entertaining. I love the story forging games.
I want to get into 40k so bad, and these new Tyranid videos make this yearning 100x worse. Keep up the good work guys, much love.

Awesome game. Would like to see more bugs in action with the new rules. The swarm based detachment would be funny, just slap some tervigons and maybe a psychophage along with as many gants as you can field

Assimilator with no invuln, and no lone operative just has no play. Lascannons and above will shred him. I think the emissary and choosing the objective for the fnp will be the way to go. Assimilator will be more for fun.
This. Their rules are underwhelming, at least for the Assimilator. No invo or FNP save? Only S9 on the brunt of the melee weapons, for 305pts? Why is the Emissary cheaper when it's much better? Feels like a missed opportunity.
Way to make a blow out into a very interesting story, great and entertaining job all!
I hope Malum Caedo gets some attention. Itd be cool to see him get some ability when his squad gets wiped out

@@PlayOnTabletop Well, not to imply anything but it seems like usually Tak brings a more meta army. I am not an expert on this or anything, but it just feels like his lists are usually very carefully crafted to be as potent as possible, especially in the first turn of combat. Seeing him make a narrative list that still seemed to have a lot of punch, even if it wasn't optimal was great, it made the match more exciting and fun to watch knowing how he is viewing the story of the battle unfolding before him. I just personally enjoy the battles that feel like the players are trying to tell a story while playing and not just see who has the better list.

What's funny is that the reivers are broken in tabletop but in my playthrough against my cousins genestealers my squad of reviers managed kill a patriarch with only one survivor.

Not sure if missed something but tak completely ignored the psychophage in the shooting phase before the aggressors charged. Could have left killed a number of things if not for that 5+ FNP

I learned 2 things from this. 1 The new nids are very cool and I kind of want to buy some. 2 Dark Angels would be useful against them nids.
These marines and tyrnids may not be golden demon worthy or eavy metal ..
But the way they look on the table 😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊really gets me into warhammer painting and playing after a 20 year hiatus.
Would like to see a battle report with a competitive list against the new codex to see if it is actually good. The ultra list was made to die from this Tyranid list.

Love the Tyranids gameplay, only thing I would love to see from a Nids video in the future is the incorporation of the Harpy/Hive Crone, giving the airborne power they feature a little limelight, could totally make a fun story out of it too with the Hive Crone's anti-air playstyle.
