I’m revisiting my watch collection and my SKX just got an upgrade of a sapphire single dome crystal and a ceramic bezel, it looks fantastic and all this strap options you have are what I’m getting into. The leather strap in this diver watch make it looks really masculine and with a strong personality. Great choices and nice video!!!

You don't need the second underlying strap on the nato as a preventive if one pin fails, that's not what its for- its to stop the case sliding around. One underlying strap works perfectly given a pin fail. The blue strap you have would be just as effective if one pin failed.
Try a alphashark nato from blushark buddy, not only it give you a different look but a comfort feel to the wearer. Experience from a big fan of blushark straps
I was surprised to see your very positive review on the Crafter Blue. After a few months of wearing them (I bought 2) I'm pretty disappointed. True that it's a big improvement over the original strap that comes with the SKX and the "solid" end links fit very well, but that's about it. The CBs, wear stiff and heavy compared to other straps and I'm fed up with the chunky metal keepers moving out of place. I can feel it under my wrist and also against the surfaces where I rest my hand. It gets incredibly hot in the sauna and burns. If you are active, the rubber keepers of other models work much better. Also the absence of a quick release, for me, turned out to be a big inconvenience. Color black was perfect for the SKX but I made a mistake with the yellow; it makes the SKX look like a loud toy and not a understated tool. Spending $65 (more after tax and shipping depending how you buy it) on a watch that costs $200 was disproportionate. It's not a Yacht Master. Sorry, but at that price I would recommend to stick to other options.

I am also thinking of a sailcloth strap as well and would love some suggestions.
The second peice on the nato is to releave the tension from the strap on the springbar. If a springbar breaks with only one strap part (like the perlon) the watch will still flap around on your arm but not fall off, so the extra peice of fabric is accually just to keep some of the tension off of the springbar. 🙏🏻
No, its not dumbass, original rubber feels very smooth and wears super comfortable also original jubilee is awesome Light weight with solid links and good quallity.

I bought my SKX and a bunch of straps. Once the Perlon strap arrived I realised I'd just wasted money on a strap code super oyster that had yet to arrive. Then I put on the Strap code just to see... it's never coming off.
I've bought four Seiko watches in the past few months and honestly the cheap calf leather strap has worn in the best. I can't even tell it's on. Metal doesn't fit great unless your watch has half-sized links (my Presage does) and rubber is easiest to take on and off, but feels pretty annoying on the wrist.
@@irreview for me? The wornest, the better or even the best. Added vintage look at the watch. I use it daily & Seiko were one of underrated watch maker. But not all of their product were great. Only in Grand Seiko, Prospex, Premier, Presage & Astron were great built in modern era. Cmiimw
Loved your review. I’m interested in upgrading to the Strapcode Super Oyster steel band for my Seiko SKX. My problem is that I have really thick wrists. I used my girlfriend’s cloth measuring tape and at the smallest point my wrist is 22.5cm. Just wondering if you could tell what the largest wrist diameter fits the Super Oyster? What options are available to increase the length, if any? Does anyone know if it pulls arm hairs like a lot of other metal bracelets.
The build of the toxic NATO is nice and all but I feel like the spring bar on the buckle defeats the security of a NATO strap. Seriously considering the Crafter Blue strap.
I’ve been on a spending hole looking for a comfortable strap for my SKX. Because it’s so heavy it’s uncomfortable on NATOs which is a bummer because I like the NATO look. I don’t really like silicone even though they are comfortable I feel like a leather strap on the SKX would be out of place. I always go back to the steel jubilee that came on it but maybe I’ll try a Perlon I never thought of that one for the SKX.

Yeah you need it. I was adjust my microadjust bracelet with a finger nail the other day and it was more trial-and-error than needed. For removing the spring bar on the lugs, you cannot do with your hands. And in theory you could do it with a small screwdriver but you might cut your hand, or even worse, scratch your watch.

I'd like to know where these watches can be purchased for under $200. I just bought a SKX007J for $495 CDN. (the cheapest store that I could find, as the online dealers I contacted were all fishy in the extreme.) I then ordered a Strapcode Super Jubilee stainless steel bracelet for $80 CDN from Hong Kong. It arrived 2 days ago and looks just fine. (The factory black polyurethane one fit okay, but it was so hard and it looked so cheap.)
The J model sells for $350 US so your price in Canadian dollars is not bad. J model is from Japan , made for the domestic market and hence better quality controls. The K model is from Singapore and now , two years after your original comment, I bought one for $239.

What's the point of the sorter end of a nato strap? If the springbar breaks while it sit's on a one-piece zulu strap, you won't't lose the watch either. So why the extra layer on a nato? It makes the already tall watch even taller.
It holds the watch on your wrist pretty steady. If you notice, metal links can be a bit loose if not adjust correctly, and even when adjusted, because the links can be big , the watch will slide around more than it needs to.

A true NATO strap has one piece buckle, that means that it has no spring bar, the spring bar on the buckle is the weak link that might cause you to lose you're watch. 😉
Great watch and bracelet. Changing from the strap to the bracelet is a real pain in the butt. Had to cut off the strap and stabbed myself trying to install the bracelet. Finally got it on. Well worth the blood I shed. ... Worthy of a "purple Heart"...LOL

Try the seiko rubber strap they put on their prospex watches. Great feel and waaaaay better than the stock strap for the SKX

Agree, BlueShark NATO in Alphashark or Orca are great, I have about a dozen of them and they are well made and super comfortable!

Bonetto Cinturini 284, which is a flat-vent rubber, looks and feels excellent. Also tropic rubber is a great vintage look on the SKX.

@Watchuseek - It's funny how people say leather on a diver is wrong yet it looks the best out of every strap/bracelet available imo.
Not a Crafter Blu fan, bought one for my Blumo and with my 7-1/2" wrist it's a bit short! The fir at the lugs is excellent tho.
I wear mine on a Barton Elite silicone strap . They are great . On the end of the strap there is a notch so the strap does not come out !

Check out the quick release straps from ClockworkSynergy and Barton Straps. Lately I've been a big fan of the Cordura straps.

Magnets cause damage to any mechanical watch.
