Hugely fond of the lore of the Inox too. These races really feel so much better defined and such a nice step away from the typical ones you see in fantasy worlds.

You don’t know how much I appreciate you for this video on the Brute. The stars have finally aligned for my wife, son and daughter to play Gloomhaven. And, guess what? My character is the Brute. I am not the most experienced tabletop gamer, so I thank you for going over the ability cards and combinations. Hopefully, I will not be a total embarrassment, exhausting too early. That’s yet to be seen though. You take care. Thank your wife for videoing.

We loved our Brute & Mindthief combo. Both are retired now, but we had loads of fun playing them. :)

Congratulations on making such a great and popular game Isaac. Just played Gloomhaven for the first time tonight for several hours. Went to BGG and your game is currently rated the highest. Looking forward to playing more next week!

I love the brute, he was the first class I played in gloomhaven, but I can understand why he isn't very popular.
As mentioned, he isn't a great damage dealer, which you wouldn't really expect from one of the (if not the) largest playable figures in the game.
He functions as a good tank character wearing armor and having sources of shield and supplemental damage dealer , but many will agree that he is the simplest class in the game and rather generic.
I wouldn't call the Brute a bad class, it can just feel lackluster, especially compared to unlockables.

Another nice video! Morty the Brute was my first character and I love the class - a ton of fun options. I got a lot of mileage out of Trample, especially in conjunction with Boots of Striding and Balanced Measure.

I play the Brute, the class is awesome and yeah, playing the Brute can be very challenging and fun, and as you level up you have several build options for different purposes. My main purpose now is single target DPS and small area AoE. Some crowd control is also something I usually help with. :)

This is helpful. Most of the art shows the Inox to be smoothed skin, but the model appears to be... bumpy? I guess that is to represent fur? Trying to figure out how to approach painting my character and was deciding between painting his exposed skin as fur or mail.
    Fur it is.
Hard though, because there’s already a LOT of that texture on his boots, belt, cape... :-/
    Another amazing game Isaac!

A scholar Inox would be a cool character archetype.

I'm definitely going to play the Brute, I am thinking Brute Tinkerer and one more, either Spellweaver or Mindthief. I love the way all the classes combine together so nicely, I haven't even played this game yet and I can't stop thinking about all the great combos that are available haha!

As a Scoundrel, I love the Brute who covers me and soaks up the damage while I stab people from behind.

Oh is that how you pronounce Inox? Great!
I've been really enjoying hearing directly from you Isaac, getting your feel on your development of this world. When we first started playing Gloomhaven, there was no one page description of the start characters and their lore. Choosing our first class was more difficult than it had to have been. These videos are really very helpful for first time players especially.
Could I ask you to speak louder and more clearly in future videos please. Thanks.

Same. I think most people pronounced it "Ee-nox"

Thematically, I love the brute. But it seems like fewer people are interested in him compared to spells and engineers! I ended up playing a Scoundrel because I wanted to add more damage to our party of 3, but he's next base-class on my list to try out.

    People didn't like Brute?
First tank I've played in any game, and loving it!

I think people don't want to pick the brute because he is a "generic" Tank and melee expert. The other characters have so much more variety to them upon opening the box but honestly I think the brute is amazing! Both of my groups jumped at the brute in order to dish out that heavy damage.

Can anyone tell me where the brute perk is mentioned in rules? I have 2nd printing i believe. My brother in law loves his brute and boy would he like it more if he could wear armor without the negative modifiers

I see it now. We somehow thought it meant the negative effects you could get from treasure chest. Makes so much more sense and he will be so happy i watched this video. Best game ever, thanks for creating it.
