Nathan Muggridge I have found that the small brushless pumps that drive a flat bladder last much longer than these ones when connected directly to a solar panel. These might be fine too IF the power supply is not so variable. The guys that sold me the brushless pump had some electronics with it that controlled the amount of power going to the pump.

I have been testing systems where motors are connected directly to solar panels. The idea is to make a much cheaper system (The battery in any solar system is a huge expense). So, if you have a solar panel just powering something compressing air, it is less useful but also far cheaper and far less complicated. I use the air to drive "airlift pumps" that pump water in my greenhouse and in my "pallet gardens". Other people pump water in hydroponic and aquaponic systems. So instead of wires with electricity, I have irrigation tubing and a "pneumatic grid" sending air where I need it. Brian

How does a bad one sound?
Do these go bad and can you fix it?
This one has a brush motor. The ones with brush motors don't last very long because the carbon brushes wear out. Best to get one with a brushless motor (even though they are a lot more expensive). You can't generally fix them. Sometimes they will sell you extra diaphragms and you can change the diaphragms when they wear out.

@@joseleon7444 Crocodile clips will work. You don't need soldering but soldering is better.
