Hi from Australia, Our real estate's here, always inspect our rental every 3 months or 6 months, & if things are not the way they were when we moved in, they would tell us, say the fan above the shower needed to be cleaned, or 1 or 2 cobwebs, not anything like some of the homes on here, I don't understand how the agents can let someone's home get that bad, if they are inspecting them regularly, disgusting.
She is quite possibly the worst person to have ever appeared on this show. The _Wigan’s Worst Hoarder_ episode showed what type of person that she really is; someone who abuses her authority to enforce the lies of others, even after those lies have been exposed and are no longer even being claimed by the original liar.
One third of rental properties in UK have been taken off the market in the past two years because landlords are selling up. People and politicians blame landlords but most of the time it’s bad tenants. The law comes down hard on bad landlords but bad tenants can do what they like. So what happens to the many good tenants who now have nowhere to go? Bad tenants ruin it for everyone.

I rented a house out a few years ago. Never again! The tenants paid the rent but they damaged my property costing me a few thousand pounds. New fittings and carpets needed. And they lefty garage full of rubbish. Just don't take the risk. Invest any other monies you have in other ways.
The girl with the attitude in the house with all the rubbish has the exact same attitude as a girl I rented a room out to, so frustrating dealing with people who lack any form of self awareness.
Seeing that house/flat made my OCD feel like it wanted to go into overdrive! I thought I could literally smell that place through my phone, and it’s making my stomach roll. I feel so bad for Gemma, and the other lady that HAS to go into places like this one!
So what happens to the people who can't afford to buy these houses? Without private rental agreements, and in the absence of enough Council houses, where do they live?
It's so infuriating that the Property Ombudsman are supposed to help landlords with dodgy letting agents, however they do absolutely NOTHING but avoid taking on a case.
Would love to know the name (more so the business name,) of that scumbag letting agent! He should be put out of business. Don’t they need a license to be a leasing agent or a property manager in the UK?🤔
The condition of that property screams drug users and unemployment. Two words a landlord doesn't want to hear about their tenants. That grandmother wasn't fazed in the slightest.
I would never be a landlord after seeing the entitlement of some people. They seem to think 'paying your way' is some alien concept that dhould not apply to them.
It’s estate agents that are the problem most of the time. I have been renting out properties for a long time. I manage my own properties now as I’m absolutely fed up with agents. They are nothing but thugs in half decent clothes. Smooth chit chat but thick as two planks. And to add to that, they are liars like no other and won’t honour any agreement if it affects them financially. I had guaranteed rent issues……two guys from a contact sorted that out within days, at very reasonable cost, after the agent flat out refused to give me a penny and was aggressive to me. I manage my properties and all my tenants are superb. I realised that it was the agents that were creating issues.
I can't imagine how the two women stayed in the first dwelling. They were first pinching their noses, then breathing feeely after complaining of the horrible stench emanating from the house. I would have to put on a hazard suit, gloves, a mask, and hair covering in order to remain in that house.
Anyone who is in that situation needs/deserve helps... It can happen for all kinds of different reasons and unfortunately it is judged horrendously by lots of people. Hoarding has been classed as a mental health condition so it does deserve compassion. Lots of people who have had rather traumatic backgrounds end up in similar situations ~ not all end up stashing rubbish, though! Some can end up with excess amounts of clothes/books/collections/etc. It takes a lot for someone to ask for help
There is a big risk that the tenant has some type of bond with the agent. They often place out family members to help them out in their scams.. so i bet he put his cousin in there who now can go ask for housing benefits - free money, for that property... They just moved on from used cars to properties..
Also the property was NOT an licensed HMO. Meaning rhe owners could cet in HUGE legal troubble if they let the tenants stay. It's only allowed to be rented out to a family. Not as an HMO. Life is not fair. But the landlord cant take future fines, legast costs etc just to let ALL those people live there. They are legally not able to let them stay.
I'm a landlord, why would you let a good tenant go, just because the agent ripped you off ? As long as they prove they have been paying, surely they are your best option (no fees) ?
IT was rented by the bedroom by the scumbag agent. They wanted it to be a single family home with one tenant. I am sure the neighbors where much happier with one family.
I had this trouble when i had many flats tenants caused so much work after years i sold off all the properties i had a team of builders working fulltime either repairing cleaning out etc so much damage and filth from tenants .
Anyone who can let their home get in that bad isn’t dealing with being lazy! It’s much deeper than that! At first I was mortified that anyone would think that is okay, but after reflecting on her situation I knew it was more than just being lazy! When actually witnessed that chaotic torture in her head! So sad I wish her nothing but good health and her to realize there are people who care and help is out there! She doesn’t deserve living in that! I’m surprised she didn’t get extremely physically sick from all the little living creatures living with her! Prayer God will give her the strength to carry on
I’ve dealt with a dodgy landlord myself back in 2018 the day I moved into the property there was a gas leak,he denied it was his house I had to pay a gasman to come and sort it,the boiler was in the loft and to get to it I had to stand on the bannister….even when I was 8mths pregnant, months after moving in the garden wall collapsed he never got it fixed…in 7 years I had 2 gas inspections, the cooker was in when I moved in and had a dodgy hob which 1 day decided would work and ended up in a housefire where we lost everything that’s when I found he had spent my deposit on one of his many holidays and tried to trick me into signing over the house potentially making myself homeless!! Ended up with me n my 2 sons homeless and separated for 2 months until put in temporary accommodation and then moved to where we are now about 6 months later
For that to work, the housing would all have to be Council owned. In private rental, the house is the OWNERS property. They can sell it, or whatever, whenever they need to. Many own these houses, as future pension pots, so sell when they retire. Rightly so !! It's ridiculous to summise that a person can rent someone else's house, and just remain there forever.

It's just too risky to rent out property. The girl in this video, for example, all she would have to do is have a kid and then she would be untouchable. The system is fkd.
Agent is the problem here. My sister had problems with agents. She lost a lost of money and sold everything off in the end to be free of dishonest letting agents. Tenants trashed the properties. £15000 in repairs. It's all over now. She is free at last. Never again my sister said. What should have been a straight forward business ended up with a big loss.
The sublet people do not care about your property. It is all over the internet. Get some trusting person to let you lease with a sublease possible clause and then split up house into bedrooms and collect triple what you are paying. Walk away when done with lease. All you paid to homeowner was rent and a security deposit that was only one months rent. Walk away with twice as much. Homeowner now has to repaint and repair out of their own pocket. A scam.
The owners' had a 'Rent Guarantee Agreement', with the Agent. Basically the owners would receive rent whether a tenant lived in the property, or not - from the agent. It was not the responsibility of the owner. Hope this helps.
they subleased the house to his company because he guaranteed they would get rent every month on time. A middleman. Then he subdivided property and rented out rooms. What did he care it was not his house. He pocketed the rent which was more than what he owed the Patels and paid no one. A scammner.

The Tennant’s shouldn’t be evicted. I don’t see why they were. They weren’t at fault the listing agent was.
Single family dwelling not a rooming house.
property was not licenced as a hmo and as such illegal

Hi from Australia, Our real estate's here, always inspect our rental every 3 months or 6 months, & if things are not the way they were when we moved in, they would tell us, say the fan above the shower needed to be cleaned, or 1 or 2 cobwebs, not anything like some of the homes on here, I don't understand how the agents can let someone's home get that bad, if they are inspecting them regularly, disgusting.
In the states, our leases say they can do an inspection with warning, but they never do.
She did an AMAZING cleaning job, I understand mental illness but that was not okay for someone to live there. Bless her I hope she’s okay now
I like that lady Ozzie that works for the county council she has great people skills
She'd be a great root too.
She is quite possibly the worst person to have ever appeared on this show.
The _Wigan’s Worst Hoarder_ episode showed what type of person that she really is; someone who abuses her authority to enforce the lies of others, even after those lies have been exposed and are no longer even being claimed by the original liar.
@@John.Flower.Productions She's good looking though.

Bad tenants ruin it for everyone.
take his porsche and he will pay for sure

I don’t think they’re confined to estate agencies.

I can tell that Karen absolutely LOVES her job. Poking around the dirty houses and judging with her face screwed up. She could not imagine a more satisfying and rewarding career.
Letting agents in London are not doing their job.
They know how to take commissions.

I rented a house out a few years ago. Never again! The tenants paid the rent but they damaged my property costing me a few thousand pounds. New fittings and carpets needed. And they lefty garage full of rubbish. Just don't take the risk. Invest any other monies you have in other ways.
I suspect granny had a big hand in the turnaround in Wigan ...
The girl with the attitude in the house with all the rubbish has the exact same attitude as a girl I rented a room out to, so frustrating dealing with people who lack any form of self awareness.
The grandmother probably paid the rent to keep her away.
Seeing that house/flat made my OCD feel like it wanted to go into overdrive! I thought I could literally smell that place through my phone, and it’s making my stomach roll. I feel so bad for Gemma, and the other lady that HAS to go into places like this one!
love seeing this series people need to understand that buying housing is to live in not an investment
So what happens to the people who can't afford to buy these houses? Without private rental agreements, and in the absence of enough Council houses, where do they live?
@@jacqueline8559 It's supply and demand, more houses on the market it will be chearper to buy these houses.
Do the math.
Nest Properties
I cannot believe a normal sane person would live in such disgusting coditions...Or allow the property to be worse than a pig stye.Shameful.🤮
Abandoned property notices on the windows would be an open invitation to squatters
Then it’s another issue getting them out as they have “rights”!
This is why I will not be letting my property!
Well done to that lass for cleaning up her house. She’ll feel loads better mentally for doing it.
I can't imagine how the two women stayed in the first dwelling. They were first pinching their noses, then breathing feeely after complaining of the horrible stench emanating from the house. I would have to put on a hazard suit, gloves, a mask, and hair covering in order to remain in that house.
I love how the First Lady spoke up … her husband just stood there lol
Why not just rent the place to the tennants that are already there
It was an unlicensed hmo
These peoples with the rubbish should be evicted as they have no respect for nothing, this is disgusting and people are homeless, decent people 😢
Anyone who is in that situation needs/deserve helps...
Hes got a 3 piece suit on..innit..
Shame on him this is how they work....
Shame for Cicada and Manure but that letting agent should be prosecuted, booting that tenant wasnt fair
Immigrants ripping off immigrants, welcome to the UK!
Oh my word!!! that flat with all those bags of rubbish is utterly revolting she needs put on a banned list for to not be able to rent!
Taking mortgage to do buy to let should be forbidden.
If things seem too good to be true then they are!
Poor Mrs Patel looks so sad and drained from it all. Feel for her
I had this trouble when i had many flats tenants caused so much work after years i sold off all the properties i had a team of builders working fulltime either repairing cleaning out etc so much damage and filth from tenants .
Gotta love it when people think having kids will remove them of responsibilities and rent 😂😂😂.

Just so her cat didn't pinch her own burger! I bet her cat loves some of the happy meal toys!
Housing a basic right: ought not to be for profiteering....
@jacqueline8559 evidently, housing is not a 'right'. Someone has to pay for it. The girl in this video was scum.
Just found this series, and at a pretty opportune time for me. I've been tossing around going to a cooler climate and doing the RV thing and either renting my house out or doing an Air B&B for travelling medical people for the hospital that's right around the corner. I'm pretty confident that I got my answer!!!!!!!😮😮😮😮
At 23.10 make it a criminal offence to withhold rent money as a letting agent forwarding it onto the land lord with a minimum 1 year for each £2000 and banned for life from ever running a company, being involved in the property market whatsoever , make these scumbags accountable
Four kids but unable to pay your rent ..🧐
I don’t get why the guy with the finger injury thinks he’s entitled to stay in the property after not paying for months?
'cause he has 4 children/s
'cause he has 4 children, it's a "get out of jail free" card!
Was going to rent out my mortgage free home but after research and my missus wanting to move to a lavish home I decided to sell it and put towards new home.
It's just too risky to rent out property. The girl in this video, for example, all she would have to do is have a kid and then she would be untouchable. The system is fkd.
Pay the rent you wont be evicted
I'm 28yo and own 3 property's Trust me it can take upto half a year with court Proceedings and costs to evict a trubble Tennant who don't want to pay
Felt so sorry for Mr and Mrs Patel
A scam.
Hope they possess his car then to cover the money he ows
Wigan hasn't been part of Lancashire for a long time, now. It's classed as Greater Manchester.
Why would you need an agent if it is ' The owners responsibilty to collect the rent ?
The owners' had a 'Rent Guarantee Agreement', with the Agent. Basically the owners would receive rent whether a tenant lived in the property, or not - from the agent. It was not the responsibility of the owner.
Hope this helps.
they subleased the house to his company because he guaranteed they would get rent every month on time. A middleman.
Then he subdivided property and rented out rooms. What did he care it was not his house. He pocketed the rent which was more than what he owed the Patels and paid no one. A scammner.
They are the middle man and they deal with any issues
programmes like this is why I would never consider renting out a property. It also reminds me how people get away with murder in this country its insane.
But if the tennants are paying the rent, why cant they stay.
The words are spelt “tenants” and “can’t.”

I rent and id be terrified to not pay my rent or to let my place get dirty etc. I look after it more than if it was my own
The landlord will keep a good tenant indefinitely. They are hard to find. Most people that have it together buy own home.
I used an agent for a property. They bullied me into tenant demands which were outside the contract restrictions, and let the tenant stay on rent free when i told them to finish the contract, as he breached it. When i returned from abroad, the property was like a squat. That was in Bristol. Appalling. But i caught them with a breach of contract and won. You have to have time and patience, otherwise you'll lose out.

Treating a property like a tip attracts attention, and ignoring warning letters attracts more attention. She only cleaned it up when given the choice of clean it up or be homeless. Also, curtains.
These people that don't pay rent etc should go onto a database so they can't rent again. Let them live on the streets.
