They have 100% creative control. The secret is that each sister is the other two’s biggest fan. No egos between them, only what’s best for the final product.
It is not necessarily political, however is a commentary on the "echo chambers" some exist in regardless of the political affiliation. Social media algorithms tend to continuously feed people certain information thereby "creating disciples" within some groups. My two cents anyway. Love this song and apparently The Warning is incapable of writing a bad one.
Pau stated in an Instagram live stream that that drum roll you wanted to see a second time mid song was one of the hardest things she ever had to master due to singing a completely different cadence than that of the drum part. She did say that once she got it down it is now basically second nature. Absolute masters at their craft! LONG LIVE THE VILLARREAL SISTERS aka THE WARNING!

EPIC song and video with a powerful message!! The song is about the power and control that the media and specifically social media exert over people. Awesome! They are geniuses. GIANT talent! Viva The Warning !! ⚡⚡⚡
This song is about social media echo chambers. People glued to their screens and becoming narrow minded Disciples of what ever their echo chamber tells them. Their social commentary in all of their music is FAR beyond their years! I don't know if you guys have done The Warning Remake of Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara, but you need to. Also, Martirio is an new music video from their new EP Mayday. Two other songs Animosity and Z are on this EP and they are , you guessed it, Amazing!
It could be placed in that context... However for those of us that still remember, witnessed and lived in Archipielag Gulag or Orwell's 1984...The Warning plays a character that uses no face cover and is in charge, commands, and rules (dictators?),then the next character are soldiers? they do use effective face covers and have weapons then there's the next character: the always maleable, lied to and coerced: the masses (with ineffective face cover or perhaps: faceless?) ...Could be apolitical? Is there anything involving society and be apolitical? In any case I can't still wrapped my head around the incredible maturity of TW work.
Nice reaction guys. You may want to check out their song Martirio that was released a couple of weeks ago. It's in Spanish, but powerful and haunting. It has become my favorite song from The Warning.
Great reaction, guys! You are an entertaining team! This song has all the Warning trademarks… bass intro, great riff, great drumfills, superb shared vocals, ohohos, fire, drive… and a cool quality video, too! Thanks, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
Its def a Rockin song so dynamic, I love how we can hear each instrument so clearly yet they perfectly mesh, super great vocals too. I don't think its a political song at all just a basic societal message to Think for yourself and don't become a disciple of the media/social media. Kind of like a part 2 of their music video they did when they were much younger XXI century blood. Thanks Nobodies !!
It requires careful attention, which when you're listening to the music, visuals and vocals can be overwhelming from a processing perspective. The lyrics are very nuanced and not an in your face criticism. They take a satirical approach "The sun is your enemy today" and try subtly ridiculize the situation. But the rest of the lyrics are played straight, so if you miss the little cues that point to the absurdity it's easy to take them at their words. You have to have all the pieces, which like I said is hard on an initial reaction.
If you think it’s about rebelling against masking and COVID science, you’re wrong. It’s much closer to being about the people that made you feel that way.
Well said! I absolutely believe what you just wrote. The masks in this video are simply a product of the time we are currently living in. The Warning invited all these people to join them to make a music video. Of course they are gonna want to make sure such a gathering is as safe as it can be and still look good. Just my opinion of course. I have seen a number of reactors to this video seem to imply that the band's message and imagery in this video is aligning with their own belief that Covid is somehow a scam and that people wearing masks are simply sheep.
The song itself was written before the pandemic even came so, it can't even possibly be about it. When the video was made they invited their fans to play extras.
The girls (DPA) have been continuously recommending, to the fans, that they take care of themselves. They interrupted presentations that they had already treated and, they have said continuously, "because of this situation that we are going through." Then it is worth asking, "Another attempt at manipulation of the networks? Las chicas (DPA) han estado recomendando continuamente a los fans que se cuiden. Interrumpieron presentaciones que ya habían tratado y, lo han dicho continuamente, "por esta situación que estamos atravesando". Entonces vale la pena preguntarse: "¿Otro intento de manipulación de las redes?"
You could slip this song into a late 80's skate punk anthology and no one would blink (although the uncommonly high level of skill would stick out). \m/\m/!!!
WHEN LISTENING TO THE WARNING THEMES, YOU LISTEN TO ROCK OF ANOTHER LEVEL, QUALITY AND PASSION, A FEARING BASS OF ALE, THE TERRIBLE POWER OF PAU IN THE BATTERY AND THE QUALITY OF DANY, WITHOUT DOUBT MASTER WORKS OF THE NEW ROCK
a portrait, with sarcasm of course, of how things are going, whether in politics or social media. follower and disciple are different things. ANIMOSITY complement: MAYDAY, MAYDAY, this ship is going down.
I think the term for the vocals you may have been looking for is 'enunciate'. They *really* project their voices when they sing (especially Pau), and it makes it SO much easier to listen to when you don't have to guess what the lyrics are. The only exception is around 7:53 when Pau says 'Non-believers start running' and it somehow becomes 'Num-ber-ly garfs start running'🤣 😆 (which they were laughing about for months before the song and video was released), and is now the running joke in The Warning community!😂 👍 That said, there's a LOT of little things that you pick up on in this song and video, the more times you watch it. One of their finest works to date, and we're only halfway through the full album with the release of the Mayday EP.😮 🤘😎🤘
Sounds to me that this is a calling to break free from our addictive reliance on information presented on screens that feed us whatever the algorithms decide for us to consume. (updated) I have since heard others say that Paulina has said that this song is denouncing all the hate and aggression on social media and how some networks and individuals benefit from it. It is also about how they hide behind pseudonyms of hate. (2nd update) From The Warning's drummer Paulina's 10-9-21 Instagram LIVE Pau Day stream- "Disciple is a song about social media... right... and how opinions are bought in social media and are fed to us in a way that we don't even know... and how by like feeding ignorance and cultivating hate... like people gain a lot of power and money... so, that's what Disciple is about." Great reaction NOBODIES! Thank you for all your support! 👋🤓💯
Rockin song. Martirio would be another change of pace for The Warning. It’s in Spanish, means martyrdom, you may want a translation nearby, but the song is really great even if you don’t speak Spanish…. I think if you have a look at the lyrics for Disciple, you’ll like them 🤘🤘🤘
SKYND and now I found you covering The Warning. I was fortunate enough to see these girls open up for Halestorm in Indiana and I'm a new fan. They absolutely kill it! You, gentlemen, have great taste in music!
Yeah! Great review. I'm 54 and I'm freaking out on this band. Unbelievable! I had almost lost all hope for something this good to come along. And it did!
Loved your reactions . . The Warning makes you "Squeal out in happiness" . . that was funny and so true! Incredible song - you can't say it enough how insanely talented they are with their instrumentals, singing, writing and performance. You guys have only done 4 songs from these young ladies???? C'mon Man - you gotta do better than that!! Let's see some more!
Nice! Shot at the Blast Furnace Museum in the Foundry Park of Monterrey Mexico. The song is about radicalization from watching too much social media and political tv. The uniforms and the sword make fun of petty dictators. Ironically, members of the Warning Army were the extras. They had a producer and an engineer when they recorded the song.
This song is all Pau. She wrote this song & composed everything on her piano including the bass riff intro before presenting it to her sisters. Absolutely certain she visualized the presentation also. Day by day as she grows older we are now getting to see gradually the full aura of Pau's creative genius. A prodigy is finally becoming a legend.
I know that in interviews Pau has spoken about songs that she wrote with Dany's voice in mind as Dany has a "brighter" what you might call sweeter voice where Pau's is darker what you have referred to as sour. So in answer it's the ladies who decide, although their producers I'm sure have opinions. lol.

While its a good song, its probably the first that I have heard by The Warning that I could either take it or leave it. It just doesn't appeal to me like so many of their other songs. The message is one that we have heard many times before from many other bands so its nothing new or radical. With the message being so dark it surprises me that the melodies seem poppish. I think Dany's guitar should have been heavier in this to coincide with the heaviness of the message. I also think its a bit over-manufactured with breaks, not like the perfect flow of Evolve. I love The Warning and perhaps this song will take a bunch of listens for me to warm to it, but atm I think its just a bit meh.
I'm with you on that--I'm trying to warm up to it, but it's not taking hold, at least not yet. Still, to like well over 90% of a band's music is pretty phenomenal to me. I think I was spoiled liking every song the band has written and performed for seven years. I remind myself that the band is young and they are going to experiment with lots of sounds in the years to come, and I will surely not like all of the songs. But, this is The Warning's journey and I feel fortunate to go along for the ride. Cheers!

@@GregPourciau Actually Enter Sandman was getting in excess of 100k per day at the start so its not on par with that. I would also suggest 4 days for a new release is too soon to judge its popularity given that existing fans would have dived right in and would be the majority of the views. I will definitely listen to it many more times as I intend buying the album when that's released. I like what you said there. It got me looking over my shoulder a bit.
For me this feels like a sequel to their 2017 song XXI Century Blood which also comes with a pretty deep music video. Check it out! 😊
