I was 17 years old when the real performance happened. I was at work in a restaurant and we had a small black and white TV back in the kitchen. As soon as she started singing, every single employee and patron in that restaurant stood and you could've heard a pin drop. Her voice was so powerful it rang out from that small TV and a busy restaurant came to a halt. I still tear up when I think about how that lady paused the Earth's rotation just for a moment with that performance.

I was 23 in 1991 when Whitney sang this at the Super Bowl. I only watched that year because of the hype and I loved Whitney and still do. I was far from patriotic at that age but it gave me chills and tears ran down my face. I also recorded it and watched it over and over again back then and got emotional every time. I still have that vhs tape, but nothing to play it on now. I should find a vcr just to play that tape on! There have been so many great singers perform this but none have never and will never be better than Whitney’s performance!

She maintained a synergetic eye contact, as if she was reading your soul and producing what you needed to hear. That was part of her vocal mastery! She was sure of what she delivered. You would look away before she did.
That's such an odd thing to hone in on but I just watched the Whitney version and she closes her eyes at least twice in her performance. Naomie captured that Super Bowl performance 98% accurately. All that was missing was the "Whitney sweat" on her face.....lol

When i was in middle school my history teacher was teaching us about the star spangled banner and she played this clipsaying how this was thr best star spangled banner ever and to this day i cannot find another one that can even remotely top this one.
I never knew Whitney Houston 'coz nobody introduces her music to me before, until I met my Grandmother who has the Whitney Houston Vintage Disk with the music I never heard, and she even told me that there will be a movie which her story are going to be exposed, and so she buys me ticket and watch it for her and tell her the entire story. And when I saw the movie, it really is an amazing movie to watch, everybody on the cinema stood up and clap the moment she finished the National Anthem, at first, I thought the lady who were portraying as Whitney just sing with her own voice, I couldn't imagine that that was the real voice of Whitney Houston. I don't know about auto tune but they sounded really the same and it was powerful like everybody on the cinema cries and clapping.. the funny part was, I was the only youngster on that moment. Hahahaha... But it was really a great experience..

I remember watching this like it was yesterday when it aired live. I was like omg!!, it just stopped me in my tracks. I was just in ahhhhh and was not that big of a fan of her. It was the best star spangled by far.
This is giving "made for tv" vibes. It's an iconic moment that should give you chills but it really doesn't, not for me anyway. I was hoping it would have the same power that the Wembley Stadium performance did in Bohemian Rhapsody. Just saw the movie in Spain. Absolutely adorable, nice and what a beautiful tribute to Whitney, what a beautiful way to tell so sad story. Couldn't stop crying for hours. Thanks for such an amazing way to honor the greatest of all the times ❤ Congrats to all the cast & crew, you really did something nice for her.

I remember watching this like it was yesterday when it aired live. I was like omg!!, it just stopped me in my tracks. I was just in ahhhhh and was not that big of a fan of her. It was the best star spangled by far.

This is giving "made for tv" vibes. It's an iconic moment that should give you chills but it really doesn't, not for me anyway. I was hoping it would have the same power that the Wembley Stadium performance did in Bohemian Rhapsody. Obviously, playing someone as complicated and incredibly talented as Whitney can't be easy so I'll watch & hope that the movie as a whole, does her justice.🤷♀️
