      If you connected to a dead battery and it immediately says FUL, then that battery is sulfated. You need to use the repair function. Ensure the battery terminals from the car are disconnected if you're using the repair function.
      On the other hand, if it writes FUL after charging, you can leave it there to keep providing a trickle charge.

    Ok. First all GREAT VIDEO! However I have a 24v battery from Walmart. Idk if it’s a deep cycle and I don’t know if that matters. I’ve never used one of these batteries before. It’s new I’ve used it a few times. My question is how do I get it on a 24v charge? When I plug it in it says 12v but when I bought it everyone told me that I had to have a 24v charger.
    So I bought a new charger this one.
    I’ve charged group 31 deep cycle batteries on my old charger. So im confused why it wouldn’t charge 24v.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  11 месяцев назад +2

      I haven't hooked this up to a 24V battery before so can't say exactly. I was thinking it should smartly detect a 24v battery and do the needful. Have you checked the documentation that came with the charger? Also be sure to find out what type of battery you have and select appropriately. Charging protocols differ based on battery type.

      @@DIYAutoworksNG I think I got it. So the battery says 24 v however it also says it’s a 12v battery. I plugged it in and now it says full charge. So I’m thinking it puts out 24v but it is a 12 volt battery. My hydraulics for my car were the same way.

  • @yamuson08
    @yamuson08 Год назад

    I just got one of these, and upon connecting it to a very dead battery, it says "ful" on the display. I'm assuming it's because the battery is so dead the charger cannot read it correctly, but it's strange that it would show full. It doesn't show voltage or temp or anything. Instructions are no help at all. Just put it on repair mode, and will let it run overnight in hopes that it will fix it, but the battery is severely discharged. I just jumped the car a couple months ago though, so you'd think if you can jump it, you'd be able to charge it.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  Год назад +2

      The battery is severely sulfated with most of its cell plates covered by the sulfation crystals. The reason it showed full is because the little unsulfated upper parts of the plate will quickly get charged and the charger is fooled. The phenomenom is documented in the manual.
      Such batteries should be charged via repair mode just as you've done. Whether it will be revived sufficiently for use depends on a lot of factors.. Let us know how it goes.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching! 140W is just the max power it would draw from the AC outlet during peak operation. Remember that to charge a 12v battery the charger needs to apply a voltage above 12v. I have seen it go up to 14+v. Also, note that while it delivers output voltage/current to charge a battery, it also needs some power for its internal processes to run. E.g power to run its cooling fan.

    At about four minutes in, I heard you saying that you connect the negative first. This seems to make sense to me, but the instructions say consistently to connect the positive first. I would guess that in any electronics, it's very important to have a ground wire, and that is connected first. Isn't that right? (ground, earth, it's where excess current can go). I also Google'd that question, and it says to connect the positive first. Red, positive, or "hot" is the same thing. Wouldn't the current possibly find a ground, or short to ground, possibly through your own body?

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  Год назад

      You'll notice that earlier on I connected the positive first which is best practice. At around the 4-minute mark I was explaining the connection in a positively earthed car (which are not common). Connecting the positive first reduces the risk of arcing.

      Do you have to set it on a specific mode for it to be a trickle/tender battery charger?

  • @bjarnieinarsson3472
    @bjarnieinarsson3472 2 года назад

    I Would never leave the battery in the car.. if you run repair mode or pulse mode, the charger will send high voltage into the battery and if connected, then destroys stuff on the way.

      The manual is silent on this point. However, even considering how long it takes to repair a battery, I usually do it out of vehicle.

      What's the safest way to do this? Do you remove the battery and then put it on a piece of wood then go into repair mode with the battery tool?

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  9 месяцев назад

      For repair mode, do it out of car or disconnect both terminals to the car before doing the repair.

    I have the same charger, I put it to the test on six bad batteries, it did absolutely nothing for them , all six were not improved at all in any way, my wallet was lighter than it was before I bought this charger, the only thing it did accomplish

      Thanks for sharing your experience. I have also had some batteries that this did not work for just as the tool doesn't claim to revive all dead batteries e.g. batteries with: damaged cells, depleted fluid level, or a voltage below 8.5volts.
      On the other hand, it has been for getting restoring weak batteries which do not have the above limitations.

    I have a question. I just bought one and when i plug it in to charge the battery charger, how do i know if it's charging. It just days ," OFF" which i assume means its at full capacity charge. Not even sure tbh sigh

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  Год назад +1

      You have to connect the leads from the charger to the battery first, then plug in the charger to the mains. If its charging, the screen should show the voltage/amps it's charging at. If it continues to say off when when properly connected, then the battery voltage is likely so low (below 8.5volts) that the tool is not able to detect there's a battery connected.

    A very low quality device. Waste of money. Don't buy it!

    Better don't buy this charger. It drain your battery completely. I have tried this. Not that intelligent enough! I just throw it into the dumpyard. The one I bought and used now is SUDER SON1206D SMART FAST CHARGER which gives me correct voltage, percentage charging level (0 to 100%) and current, all readings constantly display for the duration of charge time.

      Check the battery with a multimeter, if it's less than 8.5volts, it's below the threshold for this scanner to work. One of the drawbacks!
