That’s an impressive difference! Did you also have the tweeter ferro fluid restored in the one on the left, or maybe the tweeter isn’t operating correctly on the one on the right and it needs its ferro fluid changed ? it’s hard to believe just the crossover caps would make that substantial of an impact, the highs are so much more dull on the right hand speaker, it’s almost like the tweeter isn’t functioning.
Definitely a big difference. With that said I have a pair of 104/2s replaced ferrofluid and reformed donuts .. they don’t sound muffled like your original. I’m fact I played them side by side to my PMC GB1is and Joseph Audio RM22xl and the Kef was as dynamic, detailed and loud. The JA and the Kef bested the little PMC by quite a bit re soundstage and realism. PMC won out for sheer cleanliness but a bit dry.
That's a huge difference. I could tell on my computer speakers. It's like the veil was lifted on the recapped speaker and it came to life. I see that you used the Falcon Acoustics kit. Can you tell us what resistors you used? Can you get the crossover board out through the port? I picked up a set of these speakers recently after reading all of the reviews about how great they are. My set sounds veiled, like a blanket is thrown over them. I replaced the ferrofluid in the tweeters but that only made a slight improvement, if any. I'm ready to do a recap after seeing video, lol.
To answer my own question - no, the crossovers can't come out through the port. They're too big. I had to disassemble the whole speaker to get them out. I'm not going to replace the resistors in mine, just the capacitors.
@@vedranbartula4227 Yes, the new caps did help the sound. The speakers sound pretty good now. They are still a bit dark sounding. I think that's just the nature of the speakers. I've owned other KEF speakers and other British speakers and they tend to lean toward a darker sound. I would also replace the ferro fluid in the tweeters if you haven't already done it. It's a known problem in these speakers that the ferro fluid starts to dry up and harden.

Yes, big improvement, right away.
Huge difference clearly audible even through my phone. How old are these speakers?
Thanks to your video I just ordered the new caps set from falcon acoustics. Can't to hear the difference on my set
There is clearly a change in the frequency response of the KEFs. However, which is flattest is going to be difficult to measure.
Wow! Yes I could easily hear the difference. I played it on my stereo.

Think I need to get mine done.
You can hear it right away on the highs.
definitely there is a fair amount od difference.
I put my eyes and could tel when you swapped.
