In this video, Adam goes over all the elements that make up a connected hand path. One of the most important parts of the golf swing after the set up is the hand path in the takeaway, as well as, to the top of the swing. By being connected with the arms and body, the golfer will be allowed to freely turn through the ball, creating more compression and speed.

At 7:44, I love how you encapsulate the backswing into such a simple thing. Once you can start the takeaway correctly on plane, all it takes is just a little bit of shoulder turn and the whole backswing is complete. Another big help for me is your previous teaching of how to hold and move the right arm (giving blood). After years of trying to follow instruction to make a one-piece takeaway, my right arm would move away from body and get disconnected which would lead to all sorts faults like looping out to in, fanning, being laid off, over-cupped wrists, etc...
Learning how to correctly start the backswing on plane on this channel has been a revelation to my golf swing and I recommend you to everyone I golf with.

Thanks for the great instruction. I've been doing your drill progression for the take-away and its been working great.. Would love to see you make a video just to highlight the progression of all 3. I used to struggle with a inside takeaway since I started golf a couple years ago and its so hard to fix. I started off with the full-on club hinge at address into turn to the top drill as seen here, then progressed to the pump drill where you stop after the take away at the set position, pump, and turn to the top and go (I even played a few rounds of golf doing that pump drill and its honestly the best I ever struck the ball, lol).
Then I progressed to the Sung-jae Im / Colin Morikawa where I'm now just doing a slow / deliberate take away and backswing in one motion. And now I'm hitting the ball better than ever. I've even gained speed due to having more confidence in my backswing and am hitting my 3-Wood around 150 mph ball speed and driver around 160.

Adam, huge fan and just curious, when you are "off" on your game, what is the most common issue and what do you focus on to resolve?

What kind of angle is that alignment stick at? 60, 70 degrees?

My greatest challenge is my feet are like anchors. They don’t rotate with my body. I feel heel heavy or something

My legs and hips get lazy quick. I can feel when it’s right: the club just flows. You’d think my lower body would have way more endurance than my arms but my arms can go all day. My legs can walk 20 miles but are roasted after a couple buckets at the range.

@@themightypuck75 i know man….crazy. Just proves how hard we are trying to swing properly. I have to remind myself that a 78 year old wins with a slow and steady effort.

Hi, is hinging the wrists and setting the club below the belt the same with the driver in the takeaway? Thanks

Nope, longer clubs set a little later in the backswing.

@@johnsheehan6484 I can’t remember the exact reason but I do know I learned that from Adam’s videos. This is a great channel to follow if you want to learn. Try searching up his videos on wrist set :) should be able to find it in there
