Good luck fellas!
Hey Cleetus are you guys going to be at the Scag Power Equipment Pro Superstar Shootout or doing anything at the Freedom Factory that weekend
Congratulations to the 8.50 on ruby
Swapped the ''Street Nose'' back on Mullet. The team is killing it.
I know Garrett is obsessed with no hoods, but Ruby looks SO good with a hood
Right I love the custom cutouts especially Ruby's!
actually it's the other way around. he just does the whole no hood thing for the channel as a joke from the early days of leroy and people yelling about putting a hood on ruby. he let that slip years ago during a live stream. ;)

I've always enjoyed how you handle short comings and issues that normally would piss someone off. The temperament you show is one of the reasons I subscribe. We all have our bad days, it's how we deal with it that matters. Thanks to the whole crew.
He could have roasted the seller, instead took the high road. He makes good editorial decisions, they can roast trans dude around the camp fire off camera and keep the content focus where it belongs. Tip of the hat to Garret and team
Never seen Cleet make the wrong decision and Ive been watching for years. Dude is as real as it gets, deserves all the success
From what I've seen, dude was gonna let him borrow it, so he said on 1320 instead of explode the loaner transmission, he is just gonna give it back to the guy as a "thanks anyways, but my car will finish off that trans" I think transmission guy thought cleet could get through the week on it and didn't realize, in cleetus' words, "Mullet will destroy any part that isn't PERFECT"
That’s everyone at a drag strip bud
A bad day at the strip is actually a good day for content.

@user-rv5jr1vm1q you cant just put a car in, in the middle of the event
I would love this, but you cant just enter a car in the middle of the event. And Leroy is not setup for street driving. there is no water in the block, no alternator and so on.
I dislike george and find him off putting and annoying, they really need to find a more professional camera person...
@@iamunknowablesince when has this channel focused on strictly being professional for the RUclips channel? They take the right stuff serious, having a hype camera man keeps the energy up. You're literally the ONLY complaint about George I've ever seen. You're basically alone, it seems. Sorry not sorry, we absolutely love George.
Cleet never looked frazzled at all during incident. Dialed fully in complete control one hand on the wheel as he headed toward the sand. He was calm and scrubbed as much speed as he could. Man is insane under pressure, glad he’s ok and it went was well as it could’ve given the circumstances.

Given everything he has done all the skills he's acquired, this is probably like second nature to him knowing how to keep a cool head
Ear to ear smiles when Ruby ran that run. Felt like I was celebrating with y’all. Wow.
Dang, sorry about mullet. That all nighter transmission swap had the makings of another great story.
226mph on a spin/wheelie is a good indicator of the power that transmission is dealing with... Super impressive. Glad you/mullet survived that rocket ship landing Cleeter
226mph in 1/4 mile is insane anyway, let alone the spin/wheelie. That was a 6.5 run at least. Super pumped mullet and cleeter are okay tho
Time to hook a manual up to mullet. Maybe a 4 speed. It will hold up so much better.
@@It5M3Again yeah something like what Leroy has
@@It5M3Again A manual trans in such a heavy car with that power wouldn't hold up even a single run down the strip.

Right? Whenever the guys are freaking out at a slip he just wants to see the numbers. It's so cool to see him just lose it. And it's well deserved.
Couldn’t agree more glad to be the 100th like
The fact that Steve just handed over all those parts to help Cleet if anything were to happen. That’s so cool man. That just shows you how good Steve is to his friends and customers.
His car caught fire I think so he had no use for the parts at all, so I don't think him handing over all his spares would be a normal thing.
However you can see that Cleetus was still going to get parts so yes he does definitely look after his customers
@@mitchhifi9192if I'm not mistaken it's not the first time Steve has just handed em parts during a drag n drive. If I recall correctly he's bailed them out with some spares he had for himself I think at least twice.
@goosenotmaverick1156 yeah I mean Steve seems a cool guy, but from a business sense too you have to remember cleet is a massive advertisement for Steve Morris Engines, Cleet doing well is good publicity for his company and therefore it makes sense for him to want to keep cleet going as much as possible
@@MrJaiimez oh by all means I agree it's a good thing to do as far as business interest and advertising goes, stuff like that. But that doesn't mean all folks make good choices like that either, ya know?

You know George got excited about Ruby's run when he turned the camera around and talked to it, he doesn't do that to often!.
That again proves your skill to drive. Going over 220mph and remaining so calm and not locking the brakes completely, small movements on steering... glad that every one and everything is ok! Keep it up guys!
He locked them up multiple times, you can clearly see it in the video. Not knocking his skill, but it amazes me how people will lie to themselves to praise others. If he didn't have those garbage little brakes he might not have been in the sand trap, but why are you making shit up?

Man Garrett, I am really glad that you and Mullet are OK after that. I seriously got scared when I heard the sirens. 6.73 at 220 MPH!? That was an AWESOME run brother!
As someone who is stuck in "dad mode" after fostering a little boy, I recognize it. Cleeter was honking his horn for that little kid in the stroller, notice the gentle honk. I say it every post, but you're killing it as a dad bud!
100%
Yes a good dad. But honking for that kid is making a stretch
dad bud with the dad bod
YOU are killing it as a dad (Cleeter too), and choosing to become a foster parent is next level in my opinion. If/when that child gets adopted I'm sure that he will be reluctant to call his new father 'dad' for a while.
If that isn't a true testament to the stopping power of those TBM brakes, than idk what is. To get a 3400lb machine to stop that fast from 226 mph is absolutely insane! And of course, having a highly skilled driver behind the wheel definitely helped! Glad you're ok and Mullet was able to drive away virtually unharmed (Other than that Turbo 400 😅)
Technically many other brakes would have as much stopping power as TPM breaks, but then they would highly likely warp and TPM breaks won't, that's their true strength :p
Lightweight brakes are a bad choice when your parachutes don't work.
It would be way better off with a large rotor like Porsche and track cars use. Using a wave rotor with less surface area can't stop as well as a full disc. Surface is surface area. There's no replacement for it and it's a reason why the most expensive track cars are using huge steel brakes. Saying that though the TBM probbly out brake any skinny upfront anyway so tire is really the limitation
He had one parachute…
@@Shiftheads Well friction has nothing to do with surface area, so the stopping power would theoretically be the same. But you need surface area and mass to take the heat. Thats why track cars need big brakes, they have to brake again and again without time to cool down.
Cleetus McFarland could would make snow cones out of a hail storm. Never ceases to amaze me how well this man handles adversity.
Cleetus, you are a machine man!

aw Garret I could see the frustration on your face buddy - But I totally agree, at the power levels you are running, add that to the fact you really are going fast, its time to be like the big teams and carry a spare. You will feel a lot more confident having that spare. Nice save on the sand trap!

Actually glad you called it off for Mullet. After seeing those brakes glow, and as fast as you trap, I hope for everyone's safety that you at least replace the pads.
Unfortunately I am all too familiar with parachute failure. Glad you got out alright and those brakes held up. Definitely a scary feeling. Man seeing those brakes glow red is crazy.
Can’t imagine what it’s like going through the traps knowing your parachute has failed. Had to be one of the scariest things to experience when making a pass.
Congrats on the 8.50.0 love the live feed sorry about mullet great driving
Been there done that Just glad your ok as for Mullet it can be fixed
I used to skydive, and I packed my own primary. But I always had my reserve packed by professional. And whenever he was in the building, I would have him observe me packing my primary to make sure that I was doing things correctly.
It may be time to add a third parachute to mullet. A high probability of at least two deploying. Maybe the third parachute would be a reserve that is not packed by you, but is packed by someone else, and you only deploy that parachute in the event of something scary.
I also have suggested this before, but I didn't see any kind of reaction on it. You might want to look into sliders. Sliders delay and slow the opening of parachutes. I know that sounds counterintuitive, but it would greatly improve the controllability of the car as the parachutes open. I've seen several times it looked very scary because of the way that yours deploy and the way it jerks around the back of the car. Now, I am not a drag racer, never done that. So I really don't know a lot about that. I do know something about skydiving and sliders when appropriately used really do make a difference in both reducing the impact, improving controllability and reducing the number of tangles and other malfunctions. Also, reduces damage to the parachute itself.
Now, I don't know if sliders are applicable in drag racing, that might be something you want to look into. There may be a good reason that they're not used. I don't know.
Yours was considerably more scary.
It is definitely something I never want to repeat. I went into a soybean field at about 30 miles an hour when I was testing my car and had a brake failure. I ran to about 880 feet and let off and didn’t pull my parachute because I had plenty of room to stop that was until I hit my brakes and the pedal went flat to the floor because I had a left front caliper fail. The car was pretty much unscathed except for seat cover that I sucked up my butt.
All that said Cleetus take the trailer hitch ball/receiver extension off when racing and or get some sort of shelf that inserts into the receiver hitch to keep the chutes from getting fouled when deployed
Loved the suspension angle of the slide. Ohhhhh and yeah,
James Taal is a Badass
Is it just me or did mullet lift so high during the run that it literally lifted off of the coil springs in the rear?!
I was wondering the same thing.
Seeing only one chute deploy at 220+ was anxiety inducing, thank goodness you're okay Cleet. Whatever happens to Mullet happens, we can't replace you
What a frickin save Cleet! Glad you're ok brother! Ruby's back my dudes!

I could see how tired and disappointed you were at the end there, cleet. Get some good rest, and enjoy your time with the boys. Don't let not being able to compete bring ya down. Love ya bud.
Ruby is an absolute gem.
Good pun. 👌
Ty’s truck is my favorite vehicle on the channel right now! That thing is just so cool!
George's momentary delay reading Ruby's time. Calmly read the 8, then completely loses it. Love it.
Gotta say, thats skill to stay cool calm and collected with that speed, while also applying stab braking to get ya slowed while still in control. Good stuff Cleetus, Hope Mullet is ok!
Ya put up a hell of a fight includinig that beautifu skid stop barely into the sand...loved the whole video - thank you!
Racing is all about lessons….. Now you know what needs to be done for Mullet…. I wish you the Ultimate Best in the future….👍🏾💯
James is such a fun and important part of the channel. Always fun to see him have success. Works on the cars, drives the cars, 8.500.
19:02 Only Cleeter would "woot" as he was going into the sand lol. 🔥
I think he wooted because he did run straight into the sand and stopped it at the entrance of the pit
@@chrisbeatty743 Yeah, it's his response to the situation that I'm talking about. He was hyped up... instead of being stressed or mad about his shutes not deploying. Basically I love his attitude.
Everything happens for a reason, don’t sweat it man ! Loved going to cleetus and cars in Baytown ! Great memories
Heck, mullet is making so much power a transmission forged by Thor himself would have its hands full! Love the content man!
That manual ABS was clutch. Good on you for always equipping your cars with damn good brakes as a backup, because that could have gone waaay differently.
