They act like it's a betrayal of Jane's character to deeply love a woman, while somehow not remembering that the entire show rests on the bedrock of Jane's deep enduring love for his wife and daughter, and the obvious way he bound himself to Lisbon when he started his quest for revenge. People who watched House, and Lost, and Game of thrones, *those* people were cheated, not Mentalist fans. We were given a real conclusion, respect from the writers, and healing for the heroes who endured so much pain. I have had enough of choppy, sad endings and the bitter, creepy people who like them.
I really love life after red john. I really like T being all girly and sweet, and Jane not being a trickster. Just two people enjoying life and their new found happiness. Life's good

Having children is what really turns a boy into a man. From that point onwards, everything in life, work, labor, long hours, stress, whatever it takes, it's all just to hear the little one laugh, be healthy and happy.

I think they fell in love through the filming of this show. And after the network and showrunner decided to end RJ, they said in interviews they'd miss each other when the show ends, you can see the eye contact really became longing.
Just like Jane's friends later told him the same. That's how to do callbacks, not like modern movies where they just repeat the same thing. Show it in different contexts.
Those were simpler times. When shows did theirs characters justice and acknowledged development and traits they were setting up since the very first season. When actors were delivering thought out performances and could stand behind their characters motivations. And when storytelling was not overshadowed or replaced by effects, plot armor or overcomplicated fanservice.

I just began watching this show and the slow progression of Jane & Lisbon's relationship was a marvel to watch and it drew me in. Throughout the course of the series, Jane and Lisbon hid their feelings and suppressed them~although it would come out in various ways...through the many looks they gave each other, the banter back and forth, the loyalty to each other and in the profound ways, even at the beginning, they opened up and were vulnerable with each other. (Think of Season 1, when Jane only told Lisbon that he was in a psychiatric facility for several months). But they were private people, feeling deeply, and for different reasons--it was hard for each of them to confess their true feelings for each other. Jane--for obvious reasons...he tragically lost his wife and daughter which can leave someone putting up significant walls around their heart to protect it from ever getting close again. Lisbon~having raised her brothers, and father to some extent--she had to put on a tough front to survive and being a woman in law enforcement, I'm sure that made her further put on a tough exterior. But here, and throughout Season 7~we see both of them drop their guards, and slowly, be open and vulnerable with each other. It's so sweet. So real. And brave for Teresa Lisbon to openly declare after 7 seasons and many years together side by side with him--I love you. Powerful words and the scene was perfectly played by Simon Baker & Robin Tunney who I've read had a wonderful friendship through the series and that chemistry was powerful from episode one.
I hate it when shows get too self-referential, it's like patting itself in the back. This show is smart and waits for the viewer to figure things out themselves.
1:10 the Blake Neely score in the background is incredible. Good to see Lisbon being free from her professional work for once and love the things that matters most to her. And also good to see Jane enjoying some family time after the journey he went on with Red John. They could finally let go off their tough exterior and really show their warmth for the first time in a long while
Jane is so happy it makes me happy ❤ The power of words... That is why it was so significant that he be able to say his feelings to her on the airplane. Look how happy he is to hear her say the words back to him. He's grinning from ear to ear, and they already have been officially a couple for a few weeks by this time. It's beautiful to see how happy they make each other.
This was the episode where Jane met Lisbon's family. He was quite excited to, despite Lisbon feeling somewhat embarassed by them. His help and complete acceptance of them had to melt all her insecurity away. Small wonder she picks the end of this ep to say "I love you.". I love the fact her brothers were all like "yep, you can keep him".
Because he has money now, it's easy to forget that he grew up in poverty. I like when she feels embarrassed about the house and he replies, "I didn't even have a house." And then he is so excited to find a picture of her as a little girl and he keeps it, and he admires her crayon drawings on the wall. He has no such records from his childhood. It's a very sweet moment.

Incredible scene. Simply shows the incredible depth and quality of things a human mind can find itself flowing into... Here, it’s a script but I just can’t help feeling incredibly happy for people who have happened to experience and lived a love like this in real life :) One that's fearless, timeless one that’s unblemished of worldly distractions. The scene-setting is a "slight treading into unknown", - ( 1:54 ) "Would" you be surprised? And a reassuring answer but that still hints at a certain sense of novelty, a sense of movement that translates to yes .. that Lisbon can still cause a change in Jane and Jane allows it... all the while warmly a reassuring "I will be moved". Not elated or surprised, but moved :)... what an incredible choice of words. Did anybody also notice the rising motif in the soundtrack when the question is asked or when Jane is answering? 1:52 The Ensemble first rises (suspense) and then settles or in music theory what one calls "resolving into the root Scale/Note " that eases the tension and gives a feeling of settling down to its source. So, all the while when the dialog is happening one feels a heightened sense of excitement and stepping into unknown (1:44) but gets "the resolution" that things are settled (2:15 - 2:22)..but slightly delayed after the conversation, right on time. What a beautiful scene. Perhaps this is what a lover's embrace might feel like :) ? Tenderly electrifying , yet a feeling of coming home at the same time :)

I hated the way CBS put this on Sunday night at 10, which results in late starts and lower ratings due to sporting events, but at least it can't be argued the show went out on top.
This episode is profound in so many ways. She really wanted him to go with her, but if he didn't tell her that I can come with you, she wouldn't express her wish, finally her acceptance that she want him with her! Why? Not bcz she can't handle it herself, but she wanted her man to be there for her and her family. It's a reassurance for a woman that he's seriously in love with her as love is nothing but being there for those who we love & their loved ones. Then his role in advising her about her brothers and finally melting the ice between her& brothers & bringing it back to brothers sister atmosphere from something like strangers. Then he& the kids scene, finally he playing with the baby like a loving father accompanied by her brother's words about him. The woman in her is seeing a perfect father when he play with the kids& baby( not the first time though, season 1 had glimpses of it). Finally she's expressing herself to him with a heart filled with love & admiration. Most probably that's why she didn't try to stop the pregnancy(finale) & she wanted a permanent bond between them, their child! The mentalist is the most romantic thing I've ever seen. The chemistry between Teressa& Jane, we can feel their untold love since the beginning, episode one. A masterpiece!

Simple yet wonderful ending scene. These 2....I would never have figured out that there was potential for love when the series started. I love this show and these 2 characters and actors.
No, not waiting for approval from her brothers but her reconciling with her brothers brought a huge wall she put up...all this time she was feeling guilt for leaving her brothers and her distance from them. She thought everyone she loves leaves her or hates her...she thought her brothers hated her. Her father and mother's tragic deaths made her close off. Since she met Jane he brought down those walls step by step....this was the final one. Making her come to terms with her brothers and their love...hence she's ready for the next step. He played a significant part in that...hence her declaration.

The mentalist is the best tv series I've ever watched. I've watched it over and over again for over the year 😁.

Simple yet wonderful ending scene. These 2....I would never have figured out that there was potential for love when the series started. I love this show and these 2 characters and actors.

No, not waiting for approval from her brothers but her reconciling with her brothers brought a huge wall she put up...all this time she was feeling guilt for leaving her brothers and her distance from them. She thought everyone she loves leaves her or hates her...she thought her brothers hated her. Her father and mother's tragic deaths made her close off. Since she met Jane he brought down those walls step by step....this was the final one. Making her come to terms with her brothers and their love...hence she's ready for the next step. He played a significant part in that...hence her declaration.
After red john died i skipped all the case investigation stuff and only watched the story between jane and lisbon.. 😂

And I understand they don't seem the type of couple there are stucked together all the time, they are both mature and she plays the tough girl type. But even so, I missed more kisses and this moment would have been a perfect one.
