Great video. But I think people focus way to much on the "hip hop" side of custom jewelry. Those people are entertainers they are paying for a "look" it's a costume. They go to these big time hip hop jewelers as a stamp of approval. Theyre paying a premium for the recognition. It casts this negative shadow over diamonds and jewelry. The "every day" guy isn't spending hundreds of thousands to millions on jewelry. The prices at Traxnyc, Avianne, Pristine, Elliante, Mazza, etc are very high. They built a brand so they can charge what they want. But you can get the same pieces made with a local jeweler for 25%-50% cheaper. Sometimes more.

I am a big moissenite fan, but diamond has some advantages. I look forward to cheap lab diamonds being readily available in a rainbow of colors like sapphires are. Sapphires are great, but they have no fire. And, I am not aware of any colored moissenite.

@@091mega It's simple. Both are worthless when it comes to resale value, so it makes more sense to wear the cheaper stone that shines more. You can also get more chains, necklaces, and pendants for the price of 1-2 overpriced diamond items. It just makes more sense. Jewelry is only eye candy, no need to get ripped off in 2023.
@@MisterUrbanWorld agreed... but on the other hand, jewelry is mostly just about flexing anyway... if you tell someone you have moissanite, they're gonna be like wtf is that? Some fake cz shit? If you tell them you have diamonds, they're more likely to be impressed. It's almost like wearing a fake Rolex compared to a real one. Yeah you didn't get ripped off and pay $15k for something that looks identical, but you yourself know it's fake. Then you either gotta lie and say it's real, or admit it's fake and be embarrassed with your fake flex.

I feel like when the bigger artists are buying these expensive chains and watches, it’s much more about producing an image and/or building a relationship with a jeweler. I have a question…do I need to have a business license to be able to use a casting service? Or can I just go to a caster with my printed molded pieces?
you don't need a business license to go to the caster however if you want to buy items at wholesale (ex. gold chains in bulk) then you need a sellers permit, otherwise you will pay retail prices for them.
It's not hard to get a business license. Just Google sales tax ID, or resellers permit, and your state and make sure you're on a government website and you should be able to sign up for one pretty easily for fairly cheap. Then you can buy wholesale from various suppliers for pretty much anything you're looking for, and not have to pay sales tax for things you buy to resell.

@@MrOsvel82 No, they are separate things. You can obtain a seller's permit with a registered LLC or a sole proprietorship. It's entirely up to you.
Some casters either require nothing or a LLC/EIN and some a LLC/EIN and a sales and tax use permit. Wholesale chains though most do require a permit.
