Truck stops, they have showers (available to anyone) for a reasonable price. And, they have laundry facilities. Along with food, fuel and a store.
The bigger chains are great because they offer all these amenities in a similar fashion at every stop.
Flying J's and Petro's are my favorites.
I like the way you talk, no bullshit and cut to be concise, good tips too. In Europe do a few km on the Autoroutes, they have cheap clean showers Eur2.00.
Dude, you gave me a lot of advice in this video. So in 2018 have done 6 months journey across US. Visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii. Improvising every day. Been in Surges bike week, Daytona bike week, Biketoberfest in Daytona also. All my trip i used a planet fitness)) Thank you 🙏🏻 Regards

I know this video is a few years old, but it's good to see someone else who camps off there cruiser!!!...like I do! Be safe bruh!
I do the same thing, but I use a cheap blue tarp from walmart or any store I can find them that is normally about a 10' x 10'. I drive the bike onto it so I do not need to worry about the bike sinking as much and I place spikes about the middle then fold it back to the bike which covers the bike, leaves end that drape and keep me dry from rain also. The tarps are cheap, easy to fold, double as gear cover during riding as needed and easily replaced.
Another tip is on cold nights, start your fire, cook your food, dig a slight ditch and place coals in it then cover with dirt and replace your tarp. this will warm the ground and you for the night.
I also do the same with planet fitness or use truck stops and creeks, but those are really always cold baths. lol
Indonesian riders here, we're quite simple. Just stop at the mosque and you can sleep, bath, rest, and of course pray there. Here in Indonesia, mosque are a lot and spread all over the place.

I never thought about a planet fitness membership, its nice to know they are usually every 30 miles apart, I just used truck stop showers id usually pay 5 -1o bucks for unless I found a driver who got fuel n didnt need his shower ticket, always use shower shoes trust me on this, nuff said

Fire Departments are another good place to camp for the night. We let people camp in back of our dept. all the time bikers, boaters on the canal who ever .......
Jelt NY Fire Department...really...they cannot allow people to camp on City property.. liability ,City ordinance,....no way!

some think tarping off to your bike looks all hard core and old school but... its really not. I have done it but.... its just not necessary. I can set my tent up just as fast. Im well protected. Takes up no more space. Shows Im actually prepared for whatever and... Ive never been hassled by anyone thinking I was camping or doing anything other than spending the night. Ive been doing doondocking trips with my Harley and tent for 38 yrs.
Met a dude at the dragon once. He had a service dog "a chihuahua" named apple!! She rode in a lil pouch hooked up to the guy. Cant remember his name. Dog was cool as hell tho! Lol

Damn, I have been doing it wrong, I don't think I have ever taken a shower on a run... As for camping, I just find a biker bar (every town seems to have one now) and usually someone will hook you up with a place to pitch your tent for the night.

I like what you're doing looks fun, Ozark trail makes a nice tarp that would provide a little more cover for you and your bike nice camouflage design too, be safe
This was a cool video. I sort of did the same thing back in the Summer of 2003. I retired out of the USAF after 20 years of Active Duty Service. So, I decided to do some local bike events. Had a lot of fun, camped at Air Force Bases for free, and woke up and showered at the base gym. Some mornings I would even eat chow in the chow all for $2.00! I felt really proud of the Air Force to still provide these services to their Retiree's. I did that Summer riding basically, base-to-base. Again, I had a lot of fun for cheap. The bike/tent set up worked very well for me. As long as I checked in, about half the time, I was not charged. Always friendly crew at MWR! Anyway, love your version as well. Do it while you can Brother, do while you can!

In Texas we have to sleep on the picnick tables because of the fire ants.
You need a poncho to help keep you even more dry with your poncho liners.

I have a question for you, being on the road on your bike I know you've been into some shady areas for you didn't feel comfortable, I was just curious if you carry openly or concealed and if you do how do you go about doing so safely?

If space allows ??? might benefit from a plastic or ceramic one cup pour over from Amazon- Hario v60 dripper #2 with your own paper filter, a micro-small less than $14.00 stove- Etekcity amazon- half size/ 4 oz fuel canister, a small titanium / other water pot, collapsible mug and some pre-ground coffee... and ...

Don’t have anything too worth stealing. Old military gear generally doesn’t walk away. All valuables in locking panniers
