      The Dark Knight movies were entertaining but I don't favor the idea of an overly realistic Batman it's why I found myself coming back to this movie and the 89 film. The Joker can be portrayed as a terrorist but that's not all he is and that's why I don't like everyone placing Ledgers Joker on a pedestal. I actually like Ben as Batman and for however much Dark he is at least he's more comic book feeling than Bale

    • @BradleyJuby
      @BradleyJuby 9 лет назад +7

      I admit it. But at least this movie didn't suck nearly as much as Batman and Robin. The things I didn't like about this Forever:
      1. Two-Face was too goofy for this movie.
      2. "I'll get drive thru." Obviously a McDonald's plug.
      3. "Chicks love the car." Batman fights crime, not to pick up women. That's Bruce Wayne's job.
      4. A little too colorful for a Batman movie.
      5. Certainly could have done without the Bat-Nipples and Bat-booty.
      On the other hand:
      1. Deals with the theme of whether or not vengeance is worth pursuing all the time.
      2. Still had a darkness to it that fits the Batman movies.
      3. Tim Burton's Batman movies did not show Wayne Enterprises. This movie did.
      4. Tim Burton's Batman movies did not mention Arkham Asylum. This movie did. Can't have Batman without Arkham.
      5. Tied the death of the Graysons with Bruce's own experiences with seeing his parents' murder.
      6. Soundtrack kinda sounded good. Even though R& B is not necessarily my type of music, Seal's "Kiss From A Rose" does fit what the movie represents.
      7. We get Robin, but even he had signs of what would come.

    • @JB0523
      @JB0523 9 лет назад +6

      ThunderSooner2835II EXACTLY. You got it. While it had its campy/cheesey moments, Batman Forever still felt like a decent Batman movie with dark psychological themes. Two Face AND The Riddler were too goofy tho. They are two of the most psychological villains in Bats' rogue gallery and Joel Schumacher turned them into cackling idiots -_- well it wasn't as bad as Batman and Robin tho 😒

    Anyone else remember something different? So I vividly remember as a kid watching this movie when Batman runs into the frame with the Bat signal behind him, when the music hits that key change at 0:05, that is actually when Robin comes into the frame joining Batman just before their bodies completely cover the camera. It actually made this ending shot so much more dramatic & truly emphasized Robin's place in the film. When you think about it, it actually gives a very beautiful recap of the movie. Batman starts the run at 0:00 indicating that he was the main focus of the film, and when Robin joins in at 0:05 with the key change in music, it signifies that the story doesn't end with him, but with the dynamic dual of Batman & Robin. I can't be the only one who remembers watching this as I described it in theaters when it first came out.

    This movie wasn't bad as people make it seem. The film was cohesive in terms with the villains and Bruce Wayne's struggle with duality. If they kept the original theme music, Michael keaton, and the edited scenes, it would have been more epic!

    Forever is no masterpiece, but it's nowhere near as bad as it's reputation has you believe. It's a campy throwback to the 60s Batman, and it's an enjoyable watch. I could be nostalgic of course, but man do I enjoy the hell out of Forever.

    I remember seeing this as a 12 year old in the summer of 1995 and loving it: I watched it several times in the cinema and bought the soundtrack and VHS. I watched it for the first time in a while today since it's being shown in UK cinemas as part of a Batman season, and it's still my favourite. I'm not saying it's the best, but it's so nostalgic and holds a special place in my heart. I love the score and the colourful visual style. Re-watching this on the big screen nearly 30 years later, (as someone who's now 41😔), the opening and closing credits were some of the best and most nostalgic moments.
    Also, it's sad how this movie has become relatively forgotten and lumped in with "Batman and Robin" as a terrible film. I don't know about the critical reviews, but anyone who was around back then will recall that it was a massive hit.

    Why are most of the soundtracks for today's movies are just only film composer scores? They should ask some big time singers and bands to make some songs for the movies if they want the soundtracks to top the billboard charts.

      Michael Keaton is my favorite actor to portray Bruce Wayne/Batman. But if I had the choice to switch Val Kilmer with him I wouldn't do it. Val's performance was phenomenal! Bob Kane said Val Kilmer was his favorite Batman. He portrayed him very close to what Bob Kane pictured the character to be.
