I’m surprised that Harvey doesn’t figure out Bruce is Batman in this scene. Even if he didn’t hear Bruce yell at him, Harvey clearly sees him swinging on a rope to get to two of his henchmen at 3:12.
@@bobbyestep3916 Although Batman Forever was lighter. It was still a very dark movie and it had it's dark moments. Dick Grayson losing his family. Dick's dark desire to avenge his family. Bruce's PTSD. Bruce forced to relieve the death of his parents and what led him to becoming Batman when he tells Chase the truth. Edward Nygma's loneliness and succumbing to madness when Bruce Wayne rejects him and his invention The Box driving him to become The Riddler. I like how the movie balanced the drama and the comedy. Some scenes should have been kept in. Particularly when Bruce goes deeper into the now destroyed Batcave and again coming face to face with the giant bat that inspired him to become Batman. Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face was over-the-top because I believe Harvey Dent became like The Joker, the very criminal Dent and Batman fought against in Gotham City. Kind of like Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars. Become the evil he fought against as a Jedi.
1:04 And this was the moment that Edward Nygma discovered Harvey Dent/Two-Face, in which it motivated Nygma to become the Riddler and team up with Two-Face to uncover Batman's secret identity.
Reminds me of a Joker quote from Arkham Knight: "It's over bats. Barbara's dead. Gotham's choking on Scarecrow's crazy juice and your popularitys falling faster than the Flying Grayson's on bring your kid to work day."
Tony Zucco is the man responsible for killing the Grayson in the comics. However, Two-Face is responsible in the film because the writers wanted Bruce and Dick acknowledge to each other that their parents were murdered by maniacs.
0:50 So the audience FACING Two-Face from his left side can't see his burnt and scarred face before he turns his head to reveal himself to the rest of the audience?
As a kid, I found 2:12-2:17 rather funny because Bruce Wayne basically gives himself away as Batman to Two-Face, but, nobody hears him say it & it's like "So much for that idea...".
In the comics Dick Grayson was a pre-teen when his parents were killed, much like Bruce, and started his career as Robin soon after. Here Dick's age is left vague but implied he is or at least approaching college age. Batman: The Animated Series (1992) did something similar, except making him the same age as when his parents were killed but a college aged adult in the present stories (which, by that time, he had taken up the name Nightwing.)

I dnt care what anyone says ..this was the best batman movie along wit batman returns....just so nostalgic ..the storyline the theme music and chris odonnell robin just outstanding...tomy lee jones, jim carrey ,nicole and val kilmer ..amazing cast!!!
I hate/love this movie too XP On paper, it has more substance than '89 and Returns (I still love them, tho): it's the story of Batman facing a genius who is smart enough to find out his identity and enter the Batcave, Bruce having to face off against an old ally turned evil, finding love with a psychiatrist and looking back at his past and what Batman means to him, and adopts an orphan that he doesn't really want to become a vigilante and commit the same mistakes he made. ...And all of this conceptual gold is dumbed down to the extreme and executed like a Spy Kids movie XP Not to mention even deleting the great scenes that would've made the film better. It's almost as if the studio went "No, stop, that's too SMART, cut that out and put a scene with Dick doing stupid ninja moves with the laundry instead!" I wish I could just turn my brains off and enjoy an admittedly fun superhero flick with '90s cheese, but I'm really annoyed by films that waste potential.
O'Donnell was a Great Robin/Dick Grayson. I had no issue with him being 17 or 18ish. My issue was Kilmer was to you to compare O'Donnell. Had Keaton stayed, Keaton and O'Donnell were farther apart in age and it would have worked so much better. And for this movie, Bruce did not adopt Dick, he gave him a place to stay until the got things taken care of. Funny how people are complaint that O'Donnell is to old, and Robin should have been 10 to 15. Burt Ward did not look as young as he was suppose to be. I always took him for being about 18. I believe it was mentioned Dick was 15 in season 1.
I’m pretty positive that Dick was actually 9 years old in the comics when he lost his parents. I think having them as a child would’ve been better because he would’ve been traumatized but at the same time he would’ve gotten closure on his parents death whereas Bruce never did.
I feel the scene could have been pulled off more dramatically and nail-biting if Two-Face (if played by Christopher Walken) teamed with the Joker (Jack Nicholson) had chained Bruce Wayne (if either played by Michael Keaton or Val Kilmer) to the bomb as a means of a test if Batman would come to the rescue, but the Graysons of course save him and get rid of the bomb, but at the cost of their lives where Dick Grayson could only manage to grab Bruce from falling to his death.
What else could he do? "I gotcha, I gotcha" They'd still die from the impact, nothing he could have done, Two-Face sadistic bastard rigged this whole thing to happen.
Whilst the classic comic death for the Graysons has been done well (sabotage by a mafia racket), I prefer this one. It makes the events more dynamic, ties Bruce/Batman into the events, and also shows off the character for the Graysons in that they didn't hesitate to jump in and save the day.
WTF this movie is brilliant. We "see" the death of robin's family via the close up of Bruce's eyes at 4:03. We don't see the bodies at that point, we see something more, the emotions Bruce felt when his parents died. I had no idea how smart the filmmaking in this movie was.

I’m surprised that Harvey doesn’t figure out Bruce is Batman in this scene. Even if he didn’t hear Bruce yell at him, Harvey clearly sees him swinging on a rope to get to two of his henchmen at 3:12.
I think Harvey was looking up at the Graysons trying to stop the bomb hence the coin flip.
For some reason, seeing Edward Nigma laughing watching people get murdered is some dark humor. LOL
Love Jim Carrey in his crazy roles.
4:25 - 4:55 One of the saddest and darkest moments of the entire Batman film franchise.
BETTER than whatever TF Titans is doing
Good body wasted on that perfect suit
Never realized how dark and sad this scene was as a kid until now.
That was sad Robin saw his parents and brother die like that
Technically, he didn't see them die. He was too busy getting the orb out of the building.
You know, the one thing that this movie did well was actually make Robin's costume make sense.
3:19 Gotta love that quick "Heaghhh!" laugh Lol
It's so satisfying to watch for some reason haha.
“What the hell do you want,Harvey?!” is the funniest line in this scene if not the entire movie.
4:06 Somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb
Tony Zucco is the man responsible for killing the Grayson in the comics. However, Two-Face is responsible in the film because the writers wanted Bruce and Dick acknowledge to each other that their parents were murdered by maniacs.
Chris O'Donnell is the Robin we deserve.
I agree
That's like saying Joel Schumacher was the director that the BATMAN franchise deserved, but he ruined it.
Just not the one we need right now.
@@541967 Its not his fault. He actually wamted to adapt Year One, but Warner insisted on going all 60s.
But not the robin we need
*HEART CRUSHED AND STOPPED* @ 4:01
*And... @* 4:32
More like deja vu to Bruce
It’s the same traumatized look Bruce had when Joker killed his parents in the first movie...
Noone said-- hey, Bruce Wayne is so badass, he could be Batman!
4:39 He looks up and sees a kindred soul
0:50 So the audience FACING Two-Face from his left side can't see his burnt and scarred face before he turns his head to reveal himself to the rest of the audience?

Andrew Chapman ikr

It's for the movie going audience, not the circus audience.
1:44 his laugh🤣
Kevin Garcia And him eating popcorn 🍿 right after while watching this horror unfold. 😂
Loved the dark humor.
At 1:50, Two Face cooks with that line it makes sooo much sense. "Who do we have before us? Gotham's finest"
As a kid, I found 2:12-2:17 rather funny because Bruce Wayne basically gives himself away as Batman to Two-Face, but, nobody hears him say it & it's like "So much for that idea...".
Jim’s Laughing like he’s watching SNL. 😂
The 90's- When 30 year old actors played teenagers. I kind of miss it.
Chris was only 23
Incredible Jake Some still do today.
Sometimes it’s believable, other times not so much. LOL
Haha yeah the entire cast of Scary Movie was in their 30s
3:56 - Holy shit, Robin can lift an orb with 200 sticks of TNT with a single hand lmao.
In the TV show with Adam West he Robin was called the "teenage sidekick" and was 16
He had to be at least 16 to be performing without a net or the circus would be shut down for child endangerment.
Even tho it was a bad idea casting a grown man to play robin I love how you can definitely feel Batman’s empathy of someone losing his family
The classic line from TLJ as Two-Face saying ..."HELL, odds are, one of you pasty faced twits IS Batman!"
1:09 Crazy how a lot of people nowadays would enjoy watching a live hostage situation, they would find it entertaining.
And try to capture it on their smartphones.
I love this movie, one of my very favorite Batman movies. Val Kilmer always on point with his acting surrounded by iconic actors.
When I was a kid I didn't understand the story but when I got older I find this scene very heartbroken 💔
It's a shame Joel Schumacher made a faithful origin for so many characters, while other directors, the "beloved ones", not even accomplished that.
Tommy Lee Jones as the Greatest Showman!
1:45-1:48
This is one of the saddest scenes in the whole movie sad seeing Dicks family falling like that.😔
Jim Carrey could’ve played a more iconic joker than a riddler
No fucking way! You must be stupid kiddo. 😒
I completely agree.... Jim Carrey in 90s did literally every single thing of comedy and dark humor. But they couldn't get him to play The Joker??
@@Izaan2810 His personality doesn’t fit the character! There are 2 iconic Jokers that can’t be outdone and that’s Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledgers versions.
@@elitejackal3439 I completely disagree buddy by far. I respect your opinion but I am not a big fan of Nicholson's joker. Prefer Phoenix by far. Jim actually can play and nail the Joker very well. Personality?? Firstly, There's never a concept of personality in acting at all. Acting itself is constantly changing your personality and Jim has done that a lot later on in his career. Dude is a fantastic and a very very versatile actors and has given incredible dramatic performances as well. I can totally see him play Joker.
@@Izaan2810 Remeber though this is a 90s era movie and Jim Carey stated back then he was extremely excited to play Riddler. There is no one else that could have done better as Riddler. As far as Phoenix’s Joker went, it was very meh to me. Besides it was just was just a back story into his decent into madness through mental illness. So basically long story short, a filler movie that wasn’t needed.
Who else watch this video to see Jim Carrey laugh at 1:44? :)
It looked like he was shown a clip of Thanos snapping his fingers from Avengers: Infinity War
Dude, If I was the director of THE DARK KNIGHT (Sorry Christopher Nolan), I would of done a exact copy of this scene, but put Harvey Dent in the audience, and replace him with The Joker.
Me.
When dick's family members were killed i felt so terrible for him that was so brutal and horrifying to try and save them from a bomb attack knowing that it was already too late smh.Maybe they rest in peace.
3:53 So that's why they're called the Flying Graysons. They really can fly.
YTWarrior100 🤣🤣🤣🤣
that was dark 😕 but still funny 😂
YTWarrior100 that's something joker would say
Thato Omphile exactly dark comedy
Thats fucked up...
That's fucked up thats not even funny
Chris O' Donnell was the best Robin ever.
And sexy too :)
Brenton Thwaites has taken over
DCU Fanboy I was just about to comment this😂
@@RShadow12 You know your shit mate
HE WAS THE ONLY ROBIN EVER!!!!
The first Robin who became the first Nightwing
I don't know how anyone can say this movie was awful, when they have such strong scenes like this with the Flying Graysons sacrificing themselves to save the people.
Batman kicks the dude next to the drum thinking "I KNEW I should've brought my suit!"
Val nailed at 2:11 revealing batmans identity not hesitating amazing job
1:08 me at every bad situation
1:25 today he would say "there's 2, yes 200 sticks of TNT connected to a WiFi/Bluetooth controlled fuse, linked to this harmless looking phone. You have two minutes. Then I'll call my explosive friend" (sinister laughs)
I dnt care what anyone says ..this was the best batman movie along wit batman returns....just so nostalgic ..the storyline the theme music and chris odonnell robin just outstanding...tomy lee jones, jim carrey ,nicole and val kilmer ..amazing cast!!!
Agree.
Any movie can be nostalgic.
👍💯
If bruce wayne would of given his life for your family he would have.
HARVEY!!!!
I !! AM!! BATMAN!!!!
that line will forever be stuck in my head. Lbvs
I hate and love this movie 😂
Jordant Bryant He said it all late when everyone is loud and scared for their lives😂
Guy sat behind Bruce: WAT NIGGA!???
"Harvey! HE'S Batman!"
"Harvey! SHE'S Batman!"
@KyodaiKen1979 Nah, just makes him a fool. Bruce would never reveal himself like that lol
It's almost as if the studio went "No, stop, that's too SMART, cut that out and put a scene with Dick doing stupid ninja moves with the laundry instead!"
I wish I could just turn my brains off and enjoy an admittedly fun superhero flick with '90s cheese, but I'm really annoyed by films that waste potential.
Mike 201 he actually did adopt him but Dick decided to stay anyways
I’m pretty positive that Dick was actually 9 years old in the comics when he lost his parents. I think having them as a child would’ve been better because he would’ve been traumatized but at the same time he would’ve gotten closure on his parents death whereas Bruce never did.
That is correct
Burt Ward was 22 when he started playing Dick Grayson
I feel the scene could have been pulled off more dramatically and nail-biting if Two-Face (if played by Christopher Walken) teamed with the Joker (Jack Nicholson) had chained Bruce Wayne (if either played by Michael Keaton or Val Kilmer) to the bomb as a means of a test if Batman would come to the rescue, but the Graysons of course save him and get rid of the bomb, but at the cost of their lives where Dick Grayson could only manage to grab Bruce from falling to his death.
Very heartbreaking but yes I agree that would have been much more dramatic.
@@Phoenix-cs9pm Thanks for your response. P.S. Do you think Tommy Lee Jones would have been a great Commissioner Gordon instead?
Yes but half of your cast of characters are dead at this point.
No matter how bad the movie might've been, I'll never forget this scene
It was shot like a fever dream. Very relatable and terrifying for a kid.
The green robin spandex suit is hot too
*This movie is awesome, no idea what you're talking about.*
and Bruce Wayne just stands there, watching the other guy plunge to his death.
What else could he do? "I gotcha, I gotcha" They'd still die from the impact, nothing he could have done, Two-Face sadistic bastard rigged this whole thing to happen.
@Evil Scotsman the circus host said they will be performing without the net to make it more suspenseful.
Whilst the classic comic death for the Graysons has been done well (sabotage by a mafia racket), I prefer this one. It makes the events more dynamic, ties Bruce/Batman into the events, and also shows off the character for the Graysons in that they didn't hesitate to jump in and save the day.
Poor Dick Grayson, he tragically lost his family and reminded me of Bruce's parents. 😢
Bruce can definitely feel Robin’s pain right there.
That poor little boy. Losing his parents at such a young age of...30 or so...
1:45 when you're playing C.O.D, mess up a grenade throw, and still manage to kill someone
0:56 I love the way he said Bring it on.
2:07 that girl in th back loves that there are 2 minutes left
Lol good eye 😂
WTF this movie is brilliant. We "see" the death of robin's family via the close up of Bruce's eyes at 4:03. We don't see the bodies at that point, we see something more, the emotions Bruce felt when his parents died. I had no idea how smart the filmmaking in this movie was.
I know this movie is pretty silly and over the top but when I was a little kid this was so damn tragic and sad.
i actually really like the fact that bruce gave up his secret so quickly here.
a true hero sacrifices himself for the greater good, and this is why it works here imo
1:44 Omg that laugh is so fricken priceless!
1:45 Riddler’s laugh gets me every time 😂
They died from taking too much fall damage
3:03 Look how happy he is when he's eating 😂
Cannot believe even until now, the Nightwing character has still not made a presence in the Batman movies.
Closest we've gotten is in Batman & Robin too...
1:40 Best Quote by 2 Face
It’s like they wrote the script for the joker to be the villain but switched it to two face in the end
Nah, TLJ was just trying to upstage Carrey. Which is sad cause I bet he would have been a cool two face (even though Harvey Dent/Two Face was played by Billy Dee Williams in the first two movies).
Two Face's escape from Arkham feels like The Joker escaping.
I never knew that Dick had a brother. I thought he was an only child. Hell, you learn something every day. Cool.
He was an only child
That's in the movie, not in the comics
Val Kilmer was actually a good Batman but George Clooney was a different Story....
When Robin was introduced in the comics in 1940,he didn‘t have a brother when he lost his parents.
In all Comics he never had a Brother
@@yahuyuah it an added change.
@@yahuyuah the movie never says it is his brother, maybe it's his boyfriend. He moved in with Bruce after all.
