Same here. I also had a 4th standard history book only on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In fact the whole Maharashtra board whether it is English medium or Marathi medium all had the same.
These textbooks seem to idolize, not humanize everybody.
Hence they don't appeal as much.

This kind of an attitude is still there in the minds of most Indians, for no reason they feel they're secondary to others, and are too much secular and over forgiving. They don't respect their own culture, but when they see outsiders following their customs, they respect both those outsiders and their culture. Too much secularism is always a threat for us, and a weapon that others use on us.

I grew up in Delhi and our CBSE history books had very little information about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is unfortunate that the history of great Hindu kings is hardly discussed and we get too caught up in being secular and "nice" that we let go of our own pride and self-respect. I pray for a day when the regional and state-lines between Hindus are forgotten and we live together in Akhand Bhaarat
Only Mughal history , Brit history . Not even a decent chapter on Ashoka , or ancient kings . Even modern history is all about Gandhi ,his movements.less on right wing radical movements by shubash, bhagat singh, and then there's a dude who's genuinely trying to tell world on ancient Hindu civilization by grinding his ass off and he gets blocked by bigot YT everytime . Shivaji and his Maratha Army can be termed as one of the first Liberation armies of the world. In history we study about the Red Army before USSR, the IRA, the INA, the PLA during Chinese Civil War, but before all of these came one man with one dream to liberate his homeland from foreign rule.

@@anonynousanon5008 sorry not Nizams it was Qutub Shahi by one side and Adil Shahi by other side and you don’t know much about Maratha Empire. Chhatrapati Sambhaji entered goa and thrashed Portuguese, Portuguese also tried to get help from Aurangzeb.
Britishers had influence in parts of Goa and Bombay but because of Marathas they could not do much here and they knew Maratha, Mughals, Adils and others are close to Maharashtra Gujarat region so they focused everything in Kolkata

In Maharashtra, we studied about Shivaji Maharaj in 4th Std and there is full text book on it. Unfortunately, other states Text book had only 1 page about him. We Maharashtrian also never got to study about great people like Lachit Borkphukan, Kittor Rani Chinnama, Maharana Pratap, King Soorajmal and many such legends. This is all because of first education minister of India and his obsession with Mughals.

Bro. Mughals were not added to textbooks bcoz of anyones personal choice. Because they were having significant impact on India, as they ruled large portion of India for a long time period. The main focus is on ANY OTHER dynasty who ruled larger portion of India at a particular time. So stop thinking history is wrong because we teach about mughals. It too idiotic.

Fall of Sevuna (Yadhava-Kannda) Dynasty and Vaghela Dynasty (Branch of Chalukya) in 1300 ....Doors were opened for Muslims to South.... I thank both the fearless dynasties... .... Until 1300 from Gujurat and Vindya Parvata south was ruled by Kannada people... And then Muslims crossed in 1300 and after That Border Shifted from Vindya to Tungabadhra River... Vijayanagara Empire again ruled from 1335 up to 1565... Than Muslims started ruling Until Chatrapti Shivaji Maharaja Came into Power 1660.... from 1300 to 1700 Deccan Fell to Muslim Invaders.... We must love our History... We all one here but have different Local Language...

Stop appropriating history you historyless regionalist. Yadavas or Jadavraos are a Maratha clan. Jijabaisaheb was the princess of this clan. Vaghela weren't a branch of Chalukyas but Chaulukyas. Chaulukyas and Chalukyas are totally unrelated lineages.
History isn't defined by languages historyless people.

Even now like fools we want to dress up in comfortable western clothes on our festivals. So much significant is there about indian festivals atleast we should dress traditional during our festivals. I know it's not enough but it is a start towards change of mindset. We still stick to indo - western clothes, or jeans and top/ shirts in the name of comfort but it brings the secondary citizen attitude within us. Our indian tradition is so rich, & colourful, vibrant and dressing up in indian clothes and celebrating indian culture bis budget friendly. Jeans should be burnt really not suited for indian climate how many tourist who come to india wear jeans very less. Plz let's become more Indian from this festive season if nothing else let's leave rich tradition for our future generations to be proud of.
If we put even Tilak now people will question you something or not

Genghis Khan never invaded India....and naming a religion other than Hindus by a historian is not offensive at all..and a historian does have a brilliant understanding of geography that could be spoken rightly...as in the case of Vijayanagara, the mighty Hindu kings ruled from Hampi........(north Karnataka)

Vijayanagar was not down south kanyakumari! Vijayanagar was based out of Hampi( central Karnataka) . Kanyakumari was part of Pandya Kingdom and later the Venad and Travavncore Kingdom till independence.
They don't know the history correctly...even before shivaji vijaynagar has stood strong for 300 years against the islamic invasion..

@@atrirules maratha empire was from jinji to atak(in Afghanistan) and vinay nagar was only in southern area....and i read lots of novels vijay nagar was fall down before chatrapati shivaji maharaj... Vijaynagar is part of adilshahi after falls down..vijay nagar not got support from Southern other kingdom...
@@nikheelyadav1639 Maratha Empire was a formidable force during the 18th century ruling a good part of India. As a Hindu kingdom, their contribution for the faith is immense especially considering the state of things of those times. But there is no denying that the guest of this show looked unsure with the facts being discussed. Vijayanagara kingdom stood tall against the Deccan Sultanates but was defeated in 1565 at the Battle of Talikota. The sultanate forces brought the Vijayanagara temples and other monuments to ruin which is now a UNESCO heritage site in Hampi. At it's peak, the Vijayanagra kings ruled most of South India and Odhisa. By 1500 Hampi-Vijayanagara was known to be the world's second-largest medieval-era city after Beijing, and probably India's richest. The place was destroyed, looted, and burnt for six months by the sultanate army. The Empire was in bad shape after 1565 battle and eventually ended in 1646. At the time of Vijayanagara Empire, much of Maharashtra was under Deccan Sultanates which started with the fall of Yadhava Dynasty. Then the Mughals started annexing territories from the Deccan Sultanates and eventually most of Maharashtra fell under Mughals. Things started to change with the rise of Maratha Empire under Chatrapati Shivaji in 1674. The Islamic rulers already had the Maharashtra region and was trying to expand down south which was resisted by Vijayanagara Emipres till their demise. Soon after their demise, the Maratha Empire rose to power.
