  • 👋 If you own a new Toyota Supra and it isn't your daily driver, or you travel a lot, It's time to install a battery tender for your Supra! Having your car on a battery tender prolongs the life of the battery and keeps yours cars electronics in the best condition. After several weeks there is a good chance a modern car battery will lose all power and fail to start the car. With more cars having many electronic features that stay on in the background, it's wise to have a battery tender on it. I keep my motorcycle on a battery tender and 6 years later I'm still on the same battery. This battery tender has been on my Nissan GTR for about 3 years now and that battery has stayed strong. My new 2023 Toyota Supra doesn't get driven all the time and I want to always count on the Supra starting up. So in todays video I 'hard wire' a battery tender to the terminals under the hood to make it very easy to plug in the tender when I wont be driving the car for a period of time. The AGM batter on most BMW cars and the new Supra, you don't want to plug directly to a jump starter or tender. There are posts under the hood for that. Luckily the exposed strut bolt can also be used for the ground wire. Following these steps I hard wire the battery tender kit to the positive and negative for a OEM look and it's super easy to plug in the car when needed! This video will show you how to hard wire a battery tender on your MK5 Toyota Supra. This is a quick and easy installation that will help you keep your battery healthy and charged! If you're wondering how to hard wire a battery tender on your Toyota Supra, then this video is for you! In just a few minutes, you'll be up and running with a battery tender that will keep your battery healthy and charged! Thanks for watching!

newer bimmers and the new supra have a module at the battery; a disconnector in case of accident and current sensing for monitoring the battery charge. the charge current (be it from alternator, tender, or jump start terminals) is measured and logged into the computer so that the charge output of the alternator can be adjusted for fuel efficiency and overall lower parasitic loads. I'm sure their are other functions in there as well, but thats some of the main ones. so, if you do replace the battery, you are supposed to go into the computer with a scan tool to reset the battery monitor. This will prevent over/under charging the new battery. that is why you're not supposed to charge or jump directly at the battery terminals.

In what event would you use the battery tender? As in about how many days do the cars sit that would justify using one?

Generally if the car won’t be driven for 2 weeks I’d put it on. On a new car like this I bet it will still start 3-4 weeks later. But it’s just a good cheap precaution to make sure car is in top top shape with the electronics

Dang it young man you did it backwards. When taking the terminals off it’s cold then hot. When putting them on it’s hot then cold. You want to avoid sparks. Battery tenders fully charge a battery. Your alternator will unusually NEVER charge to 100%. So even though we use them for our weekend cars and motorcycles, they can benefit our daily drivers too. I get at least 6-7 years out of a battery kept on a tender.

I didn’t do it backwards, but it’s a great device to use for any vehicle.
