Can We Tow What happened when we hitched our Bailey to the back of our MG HS. Equipment: Galaxy S21 5G B.Aktiv 4K UHD Action Cam DJI Osmo Pocket YI Smart Dash Camera #caravanning #hitchupandtow #touring
Thanks for the video we have an HS and are pleased with the capability. The mg pilot system does need getting used to but does actually work very well . The handbrake/parking brake can be released by touching the switch . Out car is an auto and the auto release is excellent in traffic .
Not a fan of the mg pilot and with the manual version, you need to step on the brake while pressing the parking brake to release it. Apart from that, we have been very happy with it. Thanks for watching 👍
Happy to hear that the new tow car is doing its job, Mark looks so happy driving it.. enjoy your trip when it comes around... take care both, love to you all xx
Good to see you towing with the MG. There’s no perfect tow car in my view but it’s satisfying to find a car that is comfortable when towing and not towing. Those niggles will fade away once you get used to the new drive. 😃👍🏻 Trev
Hi Mark and Coral thanks for the update with the car. Soooooo glad you like it and it's doing what you want it to do. It seems from your video there's not much bounce from the caravan to the car. Happy memories with this car. Cheers Paul and Sarah
We tow a coachman VIP 460 with a MG HS and it is ok, a little more on the juice, but hey, so far it’s a great tow. Hope you’re still enjoying it. Happy travels. 👋
Thanks for posting, you mentioned the handrake not releasing when seatbelt not on .For the situation you describe you can manually release the handbrake you don't have to buckling and unbuckling the seat belt. I am pretty sure you have auto hold on the manual our dct has it and it works very well if left enabled . The features of MG pilot can all mostly selected or de selected, To be honest the pilot system would cost a fortune on top of the base price of an Audi for instance. Friends of ours have a brand new Audi Q5 and pretty much all of the Pilot features are optional paid for extras , and the car was over £50,000. You have blindspot detection which excellant . Rear cross traffic alerts you to approaching vehicles if reversing out of a parking space . Our DCT has adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assistance. The lane departure and lane keeping functions can be selected or deselected as you wish . The emergency brake assist works as well as any other car i have driven with that feature . Front facing camera and radar detection work extremely well . You will get to know the car better in time
Hey Mark, the steering wheel is in on the wrong side of the car, better send it back...LOL. My brother owns a 79 MG midget by the way. Fun little car. From what Coral said it sounds like the new car is a great addition. Time to celebrate with some fish n chips. Sean
Great that you’re enjoying the car, our Tiguan is 1.5 petrol and tows Bessie really well but then she’s only 1000kg😂. You will get used to putting the seatbelt on as the safety features these days are really good.
Good to see car is performing well….I pull my 1450kg pursuit with kuga 1.5 twin tour of auto and it’s great before that I had diesel 2.0 kuga and it doesn’t feel different . Maybe change soon ….looking at Mazda CX5
Great to hear that the tow is doing well. If I may ask what is your Caravans total weight. Seems your tongue weight is in balance. That’s awesome! I hear the frustration with all the “smart car” features… live the safety thought but it does get annoying sometimes.
Glad it towed well; you never know, do you.. I've had a couple of cars that we weren't happy with the way it towed. Audi A6 was a nightmare. On paper, it should have been fine, but I didn't like the swaying when we overtook a lorry; that was particularly grim!
Hi guys, we also have a HS which we love. Not towed yet - what is your 6 month verdict? Still going well (and is there enough power?) p.s. put your foot on the brake and press the handbrake button down to release when you don't have a seatbelt on! Annoys me too!
Thanks for the tip, will try it, as for towing, it's not as good as the Kuga, but it seems to cope . Big test coming up driving to Cornwall. Will let you know. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi how does it tow up hills. Been looking at the HS but we be looking at the automatic. Like the car but bit wary about the size of the engine. We do about 3k year towing. Been trying to look at towing reviews on the HS but can’t find any except yours. Many thanks.
Only just back from our 1st trip. Haven't encountered many hills but long inclines on the motorway wasn't a problem. It tows better than I expected, but not as well as the Kuga.
i like your intro. My intro starts with me yapping. I admire any creator who has the time to edit. My style is more "gonzo", just "jump right in! Did you see my last video? 57 minutes! Longest ever! Best to you both. See you Sat!
Thanks for the video, its been very helpful for me. I am looking for a new tow car for my fendt bianco activ 550 sd. Its around 1.550 kg (with accessories) does anybody tow this kgs with mg e hs🙂
I do not like cars that unless you do exactly what the want they will not cooperate. A friend had one that would not start unless you had belt on, foot on the brake and clutch depressed. Crazy cars.

Well we arrived safely so we celebrated with fish n chips 🤣
Yay for new tow car. So far you all seem very happy with it and that's what matters. I do hope it lasts you a good long time.
Happy with it so far, just wish it wouldn't keep nagging me🤣. Thanks for watching and stay safe 👍
Great news, hope you have a great time away 👍
We will and probably video it 😆. Thanks for watching 👍

Still getting used to it, at the moment, but will say, it tows nicely 👌. Thanks for watching 👍

Funny you should say that, we had fish n chips for tea tonight. 👍

I have to admit that our 2L Kuga tows better than the MG , but there's nothing wrong with the MGs towing ability 👍

The caravans MRO is 1290kg with a payload of 158kg, giving you a total MTPLM of 1448kg, hope this helps 👍

Hi, great video, can i ask what sort of mpg are you getting when towing ? Im picking up my HS next week.
To be honest, I don't know, but it doesn't seem that good, I will be looking at it on our next trip. Thanks for watching 👍

Surprised on the size of the engine, but it seems to be fine.
So far so good. Cornwall in late summer, those hills will be the test. Thanks for watching 👍
I would hate to think what would happen if your new tow car couldn't tow. What would you call your channel? 😅
I think it would be called, "HitchUpAndTow revisits a car dealership 🤣. Thanks for watching 👍 Hope you and your lovely family are well 👍
What mpg are you getting towing ?
Around 22 - 23mpg

My MG struggles with our caravan at 1450 when on steep inclines, but will be putting out a video very soon. Thanks for watching 👍
@@HitchUpAndTow i will be waiting for your video🙂 btw. How steep are we talking about, can you give me a hint🙂

This car keeps telling me, all the things I'm doing wrong. I don't why I'm here. 🤣
@@HitchUpAndTow Guess you got a female car LOL
