This sort of resonates with me. I'm not Jewish. Shit, I'm not even religious but there's something I've found through my last 20 years of working: Wherever I go and whatever job I do, be it reception, management, personal training, maintenance, engineering blah blah.... wherever I go, I subconsciously gravitate towards people who need help. They find me and I find them and I want to help them, regardless of ethnicity, ability, background, religious beliefs, sexual orientation....... If I believed in a higher power, I'd say this is my function in the world. But I don't believe in a higher power. But I know I'm helping people and that makes me happy. Love doesn't need to come from the divine if you just be divine. By all means, if the divine is what you believe, I'm all for it but human love is a thing we need to embrace regardless of our differences.
Hope Google got this one right..... שלום ואהבה :)
('Peace and love' if Google messed it up! :D )

JEM's gems keep coming, and it seems as if we are only just now opening the door to understanding the Rebbe's life. Each and every contact he had any human is seen to be a powerful story of how one so enlightened can affect the world for good. Thank you JEM, you are doing Hashem's work with every revelation of the Rebbe's life.

This really hit home. When I was young I got caught up in drugs, and all manners of trouble. I thought I was helpless and irredeemable. In one of my many rehab stays I met a priest. Father Joseph C. Martin. Of the famous Father Martin’s Ashleigh rehab center. I’d never heard of him before, and I’d met many priests in my short life, but he was different. When people talk about loving everyone, he actually did! You could feel it!!!! He talked to me (a stranger) and told me “Son, I know the last thing you need is another kick, and he hugged me. He gave me light pat on my back and said, (It’s all over now son.). I’m tearing up as I type this now. From that moment on I’ve gotten past the addiction. The memories are still there alive and well, but I’m not even tempted to do drugs. 10 years and at least a dozen rehabs, and I couldn’t stay clean. The love of this stranger cured me . People still ask me today, how did you do it? I can only answer “God took it away.” He sent that angel into my life, and his heartfelt love cured me. Thank you Father Martin, I will never forget you. R.I.P.

B"H That is my story also! Had been born a not religious Jew until 1978 ( age 25).1980 Chabad was looking for a Melamed of large classes of 3 year old boys in Cheder. Well, i "knew" Aleph-Beit so i was given the job 6 days aa week 6.5 hours a day,30 boys every year it was mixed (All Jews) half Chabad and half kids who's parents drove on Shabat (in Israel). When my Father Z"L passed to is world I asked the Rebbe (By post mail) if I should startup a Tefiln box factory. The Rebbe said "Keep teaching Cheder" which I did for about 24 more years! I LOVED the work and so di all the Melamdim. Many of the kids are famous in Israel,ALL loved learning .Was Zocheh to teach the son and grandson of my fried in the Israeli army that served with me in 1971-1974 on the Suez Canal,Gaza and Yom Kippur War in Syria .
