FWIW I lived in Allerton at the same time and was at school with John. The whole area was also my playground and of course I knew Strawberry Field home very well.

@@agustinkafka25 I was only at primary school (Dovedale) so I will never know. I would love to think so but we can never know. My gran met Paul once a week when he was about 7+ and my grandfather was Liverpool clerk of works for Allerton - and he had to select the road names, so I am one of 3 people who know how Forthlin road was named!

I moved to Liverpool from London early 1976, the estate agent where I got my apartment from was in Penny Lane.
I left Liverpool in 1977 to go live in Melbourne.

@@agustinkafka25 I had an apartment close to Sefton Park so it was not too bad, nice area to walk around.
Living in Cambodia now.
My mum and dad were Married in that church, St Barnabas. I was Christened there. The Bus depot, or Bus sheds, were about 100 yards (90 meters) away down Smithdown Road.

Last week I started my walk of Penny Lane , from the nearby Sefton Park direction , and ended up at the junction of the bus shelter . It’s nice to take in the whole length of the Lane , as there is much there to observe too , rather than just stop off at the junction , ( which also has a recent John Lennon sculpture placed opposite the church ) . Beware of the Cruise ship tourists though , from their buses , taking lots of drippy , trippy Selfies 😂

Staying tonight at 62 Castle St on a pilgrimage to Liverpool. I can confirm what I always suspected. This town BELONGS to John. John CEO of the company town. Paul McCartney president and COO.
I used to have my hair cut at the barbershop it was called Biolettis i was also a choirboy at st barnabus

@ it was in the mid sixties, we used to run homemade go karts down the hill from the bridge, I went to Dovedale road school where John was a pupil which not far from Penny lane and I also want to Quarry bank which is not far from the fire station

I always wondered why the beatles added the line about a nurse selling flowers from a tray. Why would a nurse sell flowers from a tray?

The nurse would have been selling paper poppies to commemorate Remembrance Day, or Poppy Day as it is commonly known, 11 November, to remember the sacrifice of those who died in the First World War (and these days wars since as well) - the funds raised through sale of the poppies goes towards the care of old and infirm soldiers.
I went by last week and it was closed! Everything cleared out 😢

This video confirms: dont look for the places related to the works of art you love. Places dont mean anything. Could be ANY place for an artist. Its disrespectful to even talk about THE street….talk about harmony, melody, instrumentation, etc….thats all that counts.

Could be ANY street around the entire planet……the street has NO meaning at all….its the music, only the music, and again the music. The name could be Bloody Pain….Johannesburg….or Arenales in Buenos Aires….it just doesnt matter the place, the street, the landscape, the face, the flower, nothing matters. ONLY the music matters.
