Made for Audio Secret Santa '20. An electronic-orchestral hybrid that speaks to the stoppage of time.
I'm assigning post hoc a metacommentary meaning to this track that ties into one of my previous singles, Zo ( • Onefin - Zo ). 2020 has been a crazy experience and I think the songs, side by side, resonate strongly with how my perspective on the state of life has changed.
Some musical notes about Nadir:
- Miyolophone and sleepless helped me with renders of various orchestral sounds. Cool people they are! You should witness their coolness yourself someday
- The sonic progression of the piece is constructed out of about six independent ideas that I figured out how to combine in a meaningful way.
- The crazy section at around 2.25 minutes in has 11-let swing with a 6-5 subdivision, which I didn't plan for when I was writing it but it felt like the appropriate timing
- I've had the main melody for this song in my head for a while so I'm happy that I was able to get it out in a way that I feel like does it some justice. Obviously I'll feel differently about that in a year when I improve some more

As a GD creator, and as the first one to ever have a featured level using one of your songs for that matter, I want to make an apology about the whole situation. I'm glad you've been able to make OST for other games and been able to somewhat drift away from GD with it, and I really hope 2021 gives you some occasions to get the recognition you deserve.
I absolutely love your work and it's clear that you do too; every single song I've heard from you sounds carefully crafted and different. I love the ost albums you make, especially Gem Setter personally, I used to listen to your Mystery Dungeon remixes really frequently and I think this one, By Day By Night VIP and On Go are some of my favorite songs of all time.
That being said, I understand that I come from Geometry Dash and still play the game, and that that game's now being associated to something negative (with very valid reasons though, don't get me wrong). I understand that the creators who have used your songs in their levels are part of the problem, and that you have the right to hate us for using your songs in our stuff. But at the end of the day, most of the creators who used your songs used them because we genuinely love them, and because we were ready to spend hours upon hours doing sometime tedious work listening to them, hoping to make something that lives up to the songs and that fits them best, talking from experience. The majority of the players in the game also genuinely likes your songs for more than the level they are associated with, that's for sure. But as with any community, it's a smaller, more vocal part of the community which is looking for attention and doesn't seem to understand that "gd" musicians are primarily "newgrounds" musicians who care about their craft and want it to be associated with more than what they might see as a "1$ jumpy square game".
So yeah. Basically, most of the people from GD genuinely love your stuff and I'm really hoping that you can glance over the annoying "dashers" spamming here and there and see that Geometry Dash as a whole isn't all bad. That the creators, especially JonathanGD (you've surely heard his name before) appreciate them more than anybody, and that I'm hoping you can forgive us for bringing all this. I used to think building levels with someone who's songs have never been used would be benificial to them and give them the attention they deserve, but maybe that's not the case and we should just stick to the bigger names. I have started a project using Obelisk recently, but if you really want to be associated with the game as little as possible, I can just stop using it there, I'll understand.
Here's a final thanks for putting so much heart into your songs and for keeping your work on newgrounds even though some people can associate your stuff to the game. Hopefully stuff will get better :/

a big issue with being so closely tied to geometry dash is that it gives me some very harmful dissociation: i can't control the image i project of myself onto social media because it will always have geometry dash tainted into it, whether i like it or not

about something you said, I found out about this channel through geometry dash I accept it, more specifically from jonathanGD but thanks to him I got to know the beautiful and perfect creations of onefin, when I heard his songs in geometry dash I went straight to newgrounds to see the account of Onefin because I really found it wonderful, a type of song that stands out from the rest and that only you know how to do well Onefin. What I want to say is, despite knowing you from Geometry Dash I appreciate your songs and that GD somehow promotes you, I hope you don't take this as something bad and thank you Onefin

This was such and interesting song, since its really different from what you usually make, and I gotta say, it was a very good way to end 2020.
2:56 and to 4:08, my friend thought I was playing Mario & Luigi Dream Team because it sounds like Somnom Woods and now I can't get it out of my head that it sounds like that. It gives off the vibe of an enchanted forest.

RIP I missed the premier. This sounds a lot similar to the first four tracks of your On Go EP, which is an amazing album in it's own right. But I can also hear the parts of this track not included by you. Rather... I can probably differentiate the sounds belonging to Miyolophone and sleepless, notably clearer around 2:00 and 3:00 and 3:30-4:00.
Well... The year 2020 is fading away. I don't want to forget all the bad things. No matter how worse the situation became, 2020 will always be a part of us, whether we like it or not.
I'm looking forward to 2021. No one can ever see into the future. We can only anticipate it, while surviving in the present, and remembering the past.

there's nothing significant about the year line - 2021 will start exactly the way 2020 ends - but as an arbitrary intervalic measurement we can conclusively say that 2020 was life changing lol

I'm glad for me as a Scorpio time has flew this year and I really liked a lot of the astrology things for Scorpio this year. Joe Biden is even a Scorpio. Scorpio Considering I live in a place where most people wear masks where I live, that made me feel safer in 2020 plus my setup has been improved heavily this year for me to gain better health and living overall. I am not giving up and am glad to have won certain battles for health this year. My life needs things to look forward too during this time and many people could create that for themselves if they try. Very interesting song here that reminds me of some modern fusiony prog music.
I feel like this soundtrack itself is a way to explain a tale of an unrecognisable city on the vague of being completely forsakened by life itself. Which only then, nature will do the final touches and suppress its entire trace from the face of the world.
