As an INTP I plan to plan, and plan my plan - but rarely actually plan...
I'm in this comment and i like it.
And simultaneously believing I've made progress. Stupid brain, thinking about it ≠ actually doing it.
My INTP boyfriend owns a restaurant. He didn't have a business plan. He meant to do one but ended up just sort of winging it. It's doing well.
Well it was before the lockdown
lmaooooo same i relate to this so heavily
I plan. I plan a lot. I come up with highly complex, systematic plans, which I draw out on paper, sometimes with diagrams and all...and then I go do something else that’s interesting and the “plan” ends up going in the clutter pile with all the other clutter papers. Sometimes I stick to the plan for a couple of hours. Maybe even a couple of days if I’m on a role.
I have confirmed once again that I am an INTP and not an INTJ but I am sure that I will start questioning it once again tomorrow.
Brilliant! Glad this video could help you decide (at least for a little while) ~ Nathan
Don't worry, I did that too a long time ago (for about a year!) and am INTP. INTPs question everything. I did the official MBTI test and got INTP but I kept going over it to make sure I wasn't INTJ.I got told if I really couldn't decide after all this time then I am probably INTP. They were right. An INTJ would decide quickly even if it was wrong.
Hi! I'm an orbit intp
Steam so what
Sounds about right.
@@adamquery7048 precise your thoughts.
"An INTJ will go out dressed in dark, an INTP will go out like they dressed in the dark" Damn why you got to do us like that man 😂😂😂😂 (it's true though)
Unless you're an INTP that has done obsessive research on fashion... like I have...
@@shrub8644 how do you research fashion? I'm curious now.
@@failedbooli6028 I had no sense of style before , and pretty much wore anything. Then at one point I started browsing all sorts of men's fashion subreddits and articles, looking into tips, clothing styles, how different colors work together and so on, and now I'm very confident in my fashion sense.
edit: and of course tested by wearing some of them myself
@@shrub8644 but like those things dont really make sense to me, like this shade of blue goes well with this shade of grey or something I'm just like WHY? Why does it work like that. Not to mention women's fashion is so much more complicated.

Yeah, we guys have it a bit easier.

But has a black hole instead of heart 💎
Thanks, I found out that I'm an INTP
HOW DARE YOU
but you're right xD
this is me and my brother
I'm a INTP and the things I've built/created in the world are breathtaking! Only they never left my brain.
When you're a kid and you think, "Hey, if this is how electricity is made, they should make an exercise bike that while being pedalled powers a small tv on the handlebars." Then you see it in the next year's Sears catalogue...
I felt this comment on a different level
brahh. this shook my core
real
INTJ trait.
As an outsider ISTP, I realized a pattern:
- INTJs are mostly fine with the idea of their type. (Ni) They accept the result and glorify themselves. (Te & Fi)
- INTPs are always questioning whether their type actually suits them or not. (Ti & Ne) Constant identity crisis with a hint of melancholy. (Si)
Ok this is really interesting ~ Nathan
Thank you, if that's actually the case, then I'm an INTP. (Those who over analyse will see the irony here.)
im in this comment and i dont like it
You’re Ni just did it’s thang !
And that's why I was watching this video, ever questioning, lol. Love it!
People makes me feel like I'm suposed to be a genius when I'm an INTP but really I analyze things in the most useless way possible that seriously won't help me with the work I should do. Like I should work on a project and I'm searching for studies on it but then I notice some completely different study that has nothing to do with the topic of my project and start focusing on that because I'm curious so I end up procrastinating, learning about the new topic but the project I need to do stays untouched...
The story of my life :D
Ican relate . but i feel weird cus we are both an armies and intp and have the same bias as i can see from your profile pic." yoongi" that has confirmd that he is an intp recently
I feel you
Most INTP if taken to an interview scores higher than actually the results in their papers
🤔I do this too. Instead I see it as, on my journey to study topic A, I found related or unrelated interests in topic B, but i
Don’t forget topic A, I go back to A and must get more data/info and I stumble across topic C, low and behold topic C is indirectly related to topic B, still none of these discoveries are related to topic A, but do not fret learning is never a waste! I get to topic D only to find that it is indirectly significant to topic A but directly related to topics B & C but only if topic B & C are present so they all relate to Topic A. Sure my research may be excessive but I am bringing home a huge WIN, meanwhile I have consumed tons of caffeine & dark chocolate and an so sleep deprived I crash! Over sleep and perform the best work my adrenaline glands can provide only to turn in my work late or with less than a minute to spare. The awareness of my deadlines motivate me like fire. This is the most concise explanation I could conjur for you. But all this to say I partially concur with your statement but I do encourage you to trust the rabbit holes & be constantly aware of your original goal & timeline. You’ll do fine. I now set multiple alarms on my phone to remind me if my focus points & deadlines. The alarms help but do not prevent my human error. Just trust & challenge your innate functions they do adapt/optimize!
I'm sure many INTP's, like myself, have mistyped themselves as INTJ's at some point, but not the other way around for some reason.
I am pretty sure that s because most intp descriptions sound like boring people and unrelatable for most people (including most intj s and even intp s)
This is very true. As an INTJ, I'd say Ni allows us to type ourselves more quickly than the Ti process especially since Ni relies more on gut hunches rather than logical conclusions.
Well, I was mistyped INTP for years... being an INTJ. So the other way around happens too
@@Daltr00 Oh so it does happen. Well in my case though, almost all my best friends are INTPs and I also grew up with an INTP father. The difference between these two for me is very clear although for the rest of the INTPs i know, including my father, tend to second guess themselves as to their type.
Johnnie Dilang Cruz I live with ISTPs/INTPs, my best male friends are both INFPs and my best female friend is also a freaking INTJ... when she said to me that I was like "wow, now I understand why we're both fucking alien strange". We introverts just can't help to love each other.
INTJs: Goal-orientated
- Narrow down ideas, with a specific goal in mind. Less flexible.
- Does this work? (pragmatic)
- Perfectionists in the sensory realm.
INTPs: Bogged down in the details
- Branch off ideas
- Defer decision-making, very adaptable and improvising.
- Why does it work? (Analysis)

Yoo, this video was actually hilarious to me lmao. The "INTPs are at least trying not to be as weird as they are" and the "While INTJs go out dressed in dark, INTPs looks like they got dressed in the dark" comments killed me
Haha! Thank you, glad you enjoyed it ~ Nathan
There is a simple solution to all of this: change your wardrobe so that you're always wearing dark and make sure that you have some sunglasses to put on (even at night). But it could be kind of expensive to change the wardrobe so much...
All I'm going to say is that at least I dress better than my ISFJ mother....

Yeah…
Maybe a year later but not now just wait 😂
Then why ''- INTP''
Everytime I take a MBTI test I always end up with a 5 - 3 % difference ratio on the P/J scale. I relate to different aspects of their cognitive functions so I don't know if I'm just an organized and somehow focused INTP or a unmotivated and lazy INTJ.
I swear I'm in the middle of their flaws and strengths.
Same here. 100 videos later, and I still can’t tell whether I’m INTJ or INTP.

Karla Rivera Karla Rivera same. I went from being 59% more P nine months ago and being an INTP, to being 56% more J, and being an INTJ. There has to be some sort of fluidity to this. However, the description of INTP on 16Personalities seems to resonate more with me than INTJ.
@Alexander Hamilton thanks
you should talk about the intp intj combo, never met one without the other. it looks like these two types attract each other more than types do. just think about the two guys in the back of the class who dont talk to anyone but themselves, they are that combo guaranteed.

That or you pause the video every 5 seconds to write a new comment, instead of watching it all the way through and putting all your thoughts into one comment.
INTJ here. Very accurate video indeed. I would also like to add some more points:
1) INTJs are very impatient in general because they just can't wait to get something done, and then relax later. Where as INTPs are very patient (almost "too" patient in my opinion) because they just go with their own flow, take their jolly sweet time and do not like to be hurried.
2) INTPs are very caring and want you to feel like you are important for them. INTJs on the other hand are quite self centered, and don't usually understand it.
3) INTJs want it to work, where as INTPs want to know why it works.
4) INTJs have "object issues" (they are more irritated at things that won't work rather than a confrontation), where as INTPs have "self issues" (they suffer more from their identity issues or public realtions rather than harmless objects)
5) INTJs are generally bossy and do not like to be controlled, where as INTPs are like a grown up child who are very sweet in general.
I think INTJs are patient when they are doing things for a reason. Like, waiting for their plans to funold, an useful insight, etc. Otherwise, they may come across as impatient for the things they are finding reasons to do so.
2,3,4,5 is true for me

I’m an INT[?]. I have ADHD. I’m INTP off my medication, INTJ on it.
I also get more J as I age, I notice. At some point you realize sitting on your thumb and philosophizing isn’t going to help you reach your goals.

ur definately an INTP..lol...😂
Just an INTP anecdote about how I notice Ti working in my life:
My parents are currently renovating our house and I'm frequently forced to help out, and in the last 3 days, I've been forced to work on major plumbing and electrical projects (my dad's a knowledgeable guy) and I know nothing about plumbing or electrical myself. My first response to having to do this work was apathy, as I just want to sit and watch youtube. But, once I was involved in the process of having to wire a switched outlet, I became really engaged with the problem and wanting to figure out how it worked as much as possible so we could find a solution. This was a pattern of initial apathy because I was overwhelmed by how little I knew about these topics, but once I was forced into them and learned a lot, trying to solve new problems became really interesting.
To sum up, INTPs experience a lot of apathy when it comes to things they don't already know much about, but can really become obsessed with why things work once they establish a baseline of knowledge.
INTP here. This is exactly how I am when doing almost anything new!
This is so accurate!!
Inertia thresholds for some, are much higher than others.
I would like to know, do those with high inertia thresholds also have a higher "stick-to-it-iveness as those that are quick to get going on something?
My dad would often, but not always, start a project, and not finish it. He was definitely an introvert, but not sure what type.
OMG INTP here and this is so accurate!!! Once I'm engaged in a new topic I get really interested, but I'm unwilling to start at first hahaha
Yo this is me to tee!!! I started my teaching career focusing on biology but then was given earth science to teaching which I knew nothing about. Well, fast forward half a summer and I taught myself earth science and I’ve been teaching it for 3 years now. The more I learn about it the more I like teaching it!
As an INTP, I tend to care about what clothes I wear to some point. I do because I mean to look like an image of who I am inside. And since I believe myself to be extensively unique and somehow superior, I often look artistic and classy. Therefore I stand out of the crowd and grab both wanted and unwanted attention. To clear it up, I do look weird, but in an admirable way.
The most INTJ comment!!!
My husband is an INTP and I am an INTJ. Without applying anything I knew about MBTI, I have always described our goals as him as expansive and imaginative (the brilliant ideas man) and I as providing a more 'grounding' role to those ideas (manifesting the resources and time-table necessary for the idea decided most worthy of the time spent). It is a great combination but it can hit several snags in production. There have been times where my INTP husband has just wanted to explore concepts and I mistakenly, took all the ideas seriously and started poking holes in them (in my attempt to try to identify and iron out any issues beforehand). I had to learn to just appreciate staying with him in the intellectual realm when he was in such a mood, instead of trying to make everything a reality and envision how it would run "on the ground". Now, I try to make sure I can detect what the conversation leans towards and, if unsure, I ask if what we're talking about is something that he would want to 'do' in real life.
I’ve taken the test at different points in my life and always end up with a 49-51 ratio on the PJ scale, sometimes I’ve ended up an INTP and others an INTJ. I can relate to a lot of the things in this video to be honest.
JF1999 same, my girlfriend is an INTJ, and I’ve tested INTJ 6 times throughout 4-5 years, however she thinks I’m an INTP, but I’ve had 1-2% overlapping on J, thus wondering if my P and J are nearly interchangeable as multiple qualities of INTP and INTJ attribute to myself
Same here ,I tend to relate to both
Omggg same here!
Same - I always score nearly 50/50 and tried to find out whether I lean more towards INTP or INTJ... and I always can relate to both types - depending on matter and context sometimes more P and sometimes more J. Which might drive home the point that I am indeed an ambivert.
I can relate to this as well
INTP here, no question about it. So non-goal-oriented that it's almost a handicap. More interested in understanding money than in having money. I used to dress exclusively in military surplus because it was cheap and practical. At some point my Fe got worried about my appearance, so I started wearing a tweed suit instead. Now I've found a middle ground; slim black jeans with slim black hoodie. Thanks for the video, well formulated as always.

@@popkhorne5372 INTJ here. You have no idea (or maybe you do) how hard it is to sound genuine when giving praise. In person, it's awkward and straight faced. Online, we're way too intellectual and serious because of our lack of flare and sometimes accidentally sound like we're subtly judging you.
“INTJs look like they dress dark, INTPs look like they got dressed in the dark”
That one part was all I needed to affirm my seating as an INTP. I’ve always ever since getting the results questioned which of the two I am, since I have many similar traits of an INTJ, but I just couldn’t put my finger on which of the two I was more of, but that quote might have been what I needed lol.
Very good video. I'm an INTP with an INTJ fiancee. We have our similarities but the way we operate is very different. Most of the confusion comes from not knowing the cognitive functions, we don't share a single one in the top 4. As an example, she sometimes writes blogs and am trying to write a book.
INTJ- She has like 10 articles out
INTP- whilst I'm trying to discover the underlying system behind writing styles to perfect the first paragraph of my first chapter (it's going well).
INTJ- She has plans and when something unexpected happens she is completely stressed and paralyzed.
INTP- I don't plan and if something unexpected happens I improvise and find a solution using the systems I have created through analysis ahead of time.
INTJ- When she talks it's always for a specific reason and she assumes everyone is like that, making her question my motives when I'm just exploring ideas.
INTP- I usually have just one motive, to understand, and I will notice something interesting in a conversation and stop and start explaining it, which makes her puzzled and ask me "and why are you telling me this? what is your point?"
There is no way you can be in between one and the other, if you think you're on the line in between them then you haven't looked into the Jungian functions enough. Forget about the Myers-Briggs test and just the 4 letters, that last 1 letter difference completely reverses the introversion/extroversion of each function and changes whether a sensing or a judging function is primary. We share NO functions. If you think "I'm an INTX but do that too" then know that everyone does everything sometime, consider how often you tend to do it. Get it right scrubs.
INTJ's dress in dark, Intp's dress in the dark :)) That's a very good one. I will quote you on this :). Also, it isnt that we cant dress well, but : 1) the effort to pick and buy clothes is too much for us because 2) we value people for who they are not how they appear and we want to be valued the same way.
Infp here and I relate soooo muchhhh

I CACKLED IT'S SO TRUE

This year with the amount of essays I had to write I realized that I was much slower than my peers. I had ideas, I analyzed very well and I was able to plan what I wanted to do but when it came to writing I couldn’t write 100 words a day at first. I always got stuck on the meanings of the words, if the information I had was true, that I know what I was talking about. These essays are not life changing but when I become interested in stating my point of view, eveything I had to write should be true or reflect me perfectly. I know that isnt a good way of thinking but itdoesn’t feel right if I don’t make sure of these points. It creates such unnecessary stress but I can’t avoid it. I dont know what I should do.
Lal Birol This is so true for me as well. I think on some level I just can’t write anything that doesn’t make sense to me or ring true because the only way I can write is in the pursuit logical coherence. Logic and truth are the guidelines by which I structure all of my writing.
I have no idea how people can actually write things that don’t make sense. Being misinformed is one thing, but to have no logical structure to your writing at all? Any logical inconsistency would be immediately apparent to me before even typing the thing up, and would be met with deep discomfort and anxiety.
I completely understand you on this point. I’m writing my thesis and it’s struggle city. What I have noticed, however, is that once I write something, it usually doesn’t need a lot of editing. Whereas other people’s writing needs a few rounds of editing. As a whole, I think we might be slightly slower but with a better endproduct. This is what I tell myself anyway ;)
Right! I have to find from a to z facts about what i suppose to write. Later and later i found my self in another sea of unrelated topic. My knowledge increased but that not knowledge that i suppose to know. In the end, i just write whatever i know coz my time already so limited.

Younger me took the official test and was cast as an INTJ with a near 50/50 J vs P. But a few years later, with another official test, I’m obviously an INTP. I feel like it’s the rigid grade school structure and the parents that valued education, that made me more J than P back then. Because once I was left on my own for uni and flourishing after, I’ve sort of “let go” and explored many things , and now struggle more to get things done compared to young “INTJ” me 😂 to many great ideas and things to do… so little time ….no I’m just procrastinating
This was fascinating to watch as someone who is interchangeably an INTP and INTJ. I find that I have both of the traits in most of the examples but how I use them is very situational.
I an INTJ dating an INTP. We are COMPLETELY different! I did a PhS in Philosophy and Logic and to quickly break to myth around logic, it's not analytically at all. Logic is nothing like math and requires an insane amount of creativity. In logic you tend to have one goal, similar to how INTJs narrow in on one thing. You're give 'rules' which are really the possibilities INTJs focus on. The goal of logic is to reach the goal in the most efficient way within the bounds of the rules. Which seems analytical, but really you can reach the goal 100 different ways.
Anyways, when my partner and I get into arguments, 99% of the time it's me telling him: "Focus on ONE thing at a time!" It's hilarious, he gets so lost in trying to understand things he loses sight of why he's doing something.
I have an ENTP shadow side and he has an ENTJ shadow, shit gets real when stress kicks in.
Good luck with that relationship ! I wonder, did you guys dislike each other at first ? I have the impression that as an intp, i cant help but be annoyed by intjs until they grow on me.
I, as an INTP, love logic. You can just wander around in the rules given, and find the weirdest results. Usually, after wandering around for a bit in a new set of rules, homework-like exercises are easily solved.
How exactly do you differentiate between math and logic ? Optimization of a quantity, under fixed constraints and axioms (AKA "most efficient way") is a math problem,(not quite a "logic" problem, that is exactly what, computer science deals with ). In fact, you can say, modern logic is a subset of mathematics ,in general .Just,In math,You experiment with possibilities, and I don t know what you do with "logic" alone . Ofc,High school and college give a bad impression ,That math is all about formulae(that is exactly,The most cost efficient way to program a bunch of morons to do menial tasks)
Good one. Thanks god to break the myth of logic, when i read that about logic few months ago, i thinked that i was cheated all my life, for me logic was always mathematics and no, it’s about conections, creativity. When you read about the shadow of Carl jung and you pay attention to your shadow things turn scary because is true.
Intps have more in common with entjs and entps and infps than intjs xd

Hmmm... I think when an INTJ is in leisure mode, or does not have a specific goal in mind, like when he's just wasting time in an airport, he becomes an INTP and focuses on analyzing stuff and collecting information.
A real life example, I've recently discovered online shopping (yeah, I'm late in the game) and as an INTJ initially I just clicked and paid and that's it, done! No need to know all these other possibilities. Then, during a boring day with nothing specific to do, I just thought why not explore this online shopping app. Likewise, when I don't have anything to do, I like to walk around and discover random little things in my neighborhood, like an Indian grocery and a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Otherwise I don't really care.
However, all this information will be stored for future use. In fact, my INTJ mind deliberately tries to find a way to use these collected information, or else I bury them in the deep recesses of my memory, because my mind dismisses them as unimportant. Which is why, I think, the little details I collect find their way into my writing. Information can't just sit in an INTJ mind, but needs to be useful for a goal.
What do you think, fellow INTJs?
I agree.
Me, an intj, bored in quarantine doubting if I'm an intj or not. Anyway I refuse to be an intp because lol I like being an intj
To abstract this a bit, an INTJ without a goal is becomes INTP while looking for a goal.
Yes, INTJ's can go into Wikipedia wormholes when they are off-duty. Even some ENTJs will do that.
Though for me, usually I go to Wikipedia initially because I want to know something specific.
I totally agree. I'm INTJ. When not in a rushed mood, I will count ceiling tiles, people with black shoes on, wonder about all sorts of things.
Yes, things can't just sit in my mind.
I did two personality tests . I was INTP in one and INTJ in the other . The INT part were well into the 70-80% range . But the P and J were like 49-51 range . I guess it means you can become INTP and INTJ according to different circumstances
Omg the same thing always happens to me. I keep switching between intp and intj
not how it works, try studying the cognitive functions for why that is, I'm not sure but I'm guessing that you're probably an intj
I see a lot of people saying they can switch but that’s not how it works. The intp has:
Introverted thinking
Extroverted intuition
Introverted sensing
And extroverted feeling
While an intj has:
Introverted intuition
Extroverted thinking
Introverted feeling
And extroverted sensing
We can see that the intp has feeling lower than an intj does, while intjs have Se lower on the list.
I get the same results, but every time I examine the differences between INTJ and INTP, I am definitely an INTJ and definitely NOT an INTP. The difference in personality traits is night and day. I came across a video that gave visual examples of the environments that each prefers, and it was eye-opening. I could be friends with an INTP, but I couldn't live with one.
How do you create your home environment? INTJs prefer neat, minimalist environments; that's also how they tend to dress. INTPs live like they make their home in gypsy carnivals, and they pretty much dress like it, too; I mean messy, a riot of color, clashing colors.
INTJs Ni and Te makes them have a narrowing style of thinking. They take a bunch of things and they can simplify them to find the end result or solution in no time
INTPs Ti and Ne on the other hand makes them have a broadening style of thinking. They can take one thing and expand it out into many different concepts to create abstract ideas and thoughts
Yup... I still feel like both. Sometimes I'm super decisive and have a concrete goal, sometimes I get side tracked and go of on a tangent to find out how things work. But I do think my dominant personality is intj
If people think you are cold then you probably are leaning more towards INTJ.
Weird. I really am an INTJ. And a Goth... I have an arsenal of black dresses. Also, I tell people I'll never change for them or anyone which is what you have described. Thanks for this.
lol, Welcome to the meeting. Make sure you get your free Uber ride card punched for the INTJ meetup. Most
of us will not show up...
In 1976, during the age of the disco duck and my school years, I wore black.
In Florida, during the 70s, one did not wear black unless they were Johnny Cash.
I did.
My sociology class filled out comment cards on everyone in the class. I couldn't wait to read mine when I received
my stack and guess what? I was rather surprised to find out that almost everyone commented or had
something to doodle about my choice of 'colors'.
I was delighted when black yoga pants arrived in our local stores. Now, I shop online and guess what?
I am wearing black as I type. I wish you well and wear the heck what you want to, they all do.
A large majority of us INTJs are goth. It seems that we just have a natural inclination for that kind of thing.
I'm the same way, I say I want people to like me for me, not what I wear, but I discovered that I'll change what I wear if it suits my purposes, like for a job interview. I mostly dress in long-sleeved tee shirts and sweatpants, but I do like the look of casual professional-type clothes, slacks and a nice blouse or sweater. Where my own sense of style comes in is that I prefer solid-colored clothes with a texture to the weave, rather than plain flat-looking cloth. To me, that says "style".
INTP Goth saying hi. ^_^

Bless you.
as a primarily INTJ who has sometimes also tested as an INTP (like 5% of the time. i was a psych major in college and have taken the MBTI MULTIPLE times), i feel like i have an EXTRAORDINARILY INTIMATE/PERSONAL perspective of BOTH sides of this...
as far as how they approach nearly EVERY aspect of life...
think of perspective/approach to ANYthing as though its trapped in/part of a funnel.
INTPs are EXPANSIVE - they start at the narrow end of the funnel and work their way out. they see ALL OF THE POSSIBILITIES (and beyond). INTJs are REDUCTIVE - they start at the wide part of the funnel and are GREAT at boiling things down to their most essential/crucial aspects.
Excellent!!! Narrow to wide, wide to narrow.
That was the most clever way I have seen to get people to subscribe esp. the "you can always unsubscribe later", kudos to you.
definitely an INTP before INTJ after hearing that example---100% a tendency to take things apart indefinitely to the point that it's detrimental and unproductive
OMG I laughed out load (and I'm an INTJ, can you imagine) because you nailed my and my INTP husband's clothing habits so correctly. "INTJ will go out dressed in dark, INTPs will look like they got dressed in the dark". I really do have mainly dark clothes and my husband will take the first shirt he finds, even if it looks like it has been taken from under the dog and his proper clothes are prepared in the wardrobe.

If you are very close to the midpoint, you might have characteristics of both types. If you were to pay to take the official MBTI test, your results would include several charts, among them would be where you are on the spectrum of each function.
I disagree. It is very, very easy to confuse the two. Say you are a severely jaded individual as a child after people let you down constantly. You decided at a very young age never to depend on anyone. That could cause you to slip into your ENTJ unconscious permanently causing you to think you are INTJ bc you constantly display -NTJ characteristics. You wouldn’t categorize yourself as ENTJ bc you know for sure without a doubt you are introvert. Then you could be very confused.
My husband is an INTP and I'm an INTJ. We appear similar, and we are compatible, but how we arrive at decisions is so different!
I already knew I am an INTP, but this video opened my eyes about a thing. I am 25 and still a university student, always struggling to find my way in life, and maybe this is what I needed to listen.
But I'm an INTP, I will probably change my mind or fill my head with doubts in 2 days hahaha. But thanks for this video, seriously!

I always enjoy love who’s videos.
As an INTJ I can easily see the difference between myself and him. Even so, it takes me a while to pull the trigger on “something I know I need to do.” The main reason I wait so long is because I want the freedom to be able to do it correctly and free from distractions in a world that is always attempting to force your attention elsewhere.
I’ve managed to figure out a way to make enough money from home that I don’t have to leave to accomplish goals, which was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. Society is overall, a burden to me, and “consumers” don’t focus on their needs, but their wants. Which in my field, is what I have to exploit to accomplish anything. I have to bring to the forefront the impending doom of not listening to me to get results. It works very effective, but it doesn’t make anyone happy.
Can you please make a Video on whether you are an INTP or an ENTP?? That would be so helpful ❤️

I do believe the spectrum of how E or I someone feels they are isn't always the best indicator of type! Some other RUclips channels talk about varying sleep and blast energies for each type which make matters of typing even more diverse!
I think with xNTPs, it’s possible to enjoy fashion and experimenting with clothes, and still look bad or eccentric while doing it. Us ENTPs may enjoy it more, being Ne doms, because it’s a way of expressing creativity. I love experimenting and putting different combos together. Also, I think ultimately that having tertiary Fe forces us to put a little bit more thought into our outfits than maybe the INTPs do. Like, I can’t always be bothered to make the effort, but I feel a slight sense of shame when I don’t. INTPs may not even realize that they’re underperforming fashion-wise. Which is adorable. I just want to squeeze them until their eyes pop out. INTPs and INTJs, both need squeezing.
I'm pretty sure INTP's know when they aren't dressing fashionably... And they do have a sense of fashion, they just never really use it... INTP's don't dress for social approval, they dress to keep warm and cover themselves.
@@MyouKyuubi ^
@@MyouKyuubi So true! I always have to wear at least one more layer than everybody else to keep warm. And I don't like showing my cleavage and sooo many women's stylish clothing is super cute but so low cut I can't bring myself to wear it. So I end up wearing sweatpants, which are the warmest. Why they don't design more WARM stylish clothing for women is beyond me - it's not like there wouldn't be a market for it!
These comments bring up an interesting point. Would INTP's be known as unfashionable in another era?
Today's trends are so hideously gauche and barbaric by the standards of any other era that anyone with independent judgment would repulse them. INTP's have stronger independent judgment than anyone.
So a lot of INTP clothing choices may really amount to "this is the nearest approach I can find to a dignified and beautiful style which exists only in my imagination;" or, "this is my contemptuous rejection of an industry which has already contemptuously rejected everything I respect."
I have a friend who is such a textbook INTP, everyone in my town has heard of her as she has a very mysterious vibe like you mentioned. But in real life you see she’s really nowhere near as ‘cool’ as people think she is and she knows it! She has extreme social anxiety. Such a bizarre dichotomy. Really into conspiracy theories too 😂😂

Interesting. Conspiracy theories give me hives once they move past the harmless challenge of a syllagistic riddle, and become cognitive Chinese fingertraps.
As an INTJ, yes I agree with this explanation of the two types. Excellent job explaining. Thank you.
I often get either INTJ or INTP on personality tests. In fact, of the 4 characteristics, P/J is the one where I consistently get a 50%/50% split when the test shows percentages.
This was probably the best explanation of INTP vs INTJ. I really identified with both quite a bit. I'm someone who likes to focus on the end goal in planning but constantly gets bogged down in the various branching paths.
That example of the powered object really had me stumped as to what I would choose. Clearly, the logical answer would be to get the one use out of it, but the allure of figuring it out and potentially unlocking more uses out of it is so tempting that I could easily see myself just going with that on impulse after a lot of indecisive back-and-forth.
INTPs do often create plans and goals, but rarely execute it properly.
I’m an INTJ. I haven’t done much research about the types, but my friend got INTP on the 16 personalities test. She ended up leaving me for another group of friends.

Interesting. Have a look at out other INTJ and INTP videos to see which ones you relate to more and let me know! ~ Nathan
I know I’m an INTJ, but I identified w/ many of the descriptions of INTP here. In my case, it’s probably due to my need to adapt to my life circumstances. I had to be EVERYONE/EVERYTHING to myself (mom, dad, teacher, friend, doctor, so I was able to develop my weaker functions, initially by emulating others, then eventually embodying their qualities.
Amazing ability to breakdown types and explaining them. I have an INTJ friend and this is exactly what he's like. . Thank you sir.
When I take the tests I get intj but I think I'm an intp just a more disciplined one, because no one would compare me to the lazy intp stereotype.
In the first scenario, I would definitely want to analyze the device since doing so could create more opportunities for efficiency but in the second, with the youtube thumbnail, I would get the video completed before doing any outside research. My fashion sense falls closer to intj as well.
So I don't know which I am more like.
But since I'm here questioning it and overthinking it that probably puts me more in the intp category.
hmm this certainly has a hint of INTP over-analysing but tbh the overall mindset seemed more INTJ with the 'extraverted thinking' desire for efficiency rather than the more explorative INTP approach ~ Nathan
@@lovewho Maybe but I agree with the part that I would dislike there being something in my life that I couldn't analyze even though the idea of making the device more efficient is almost equally as appealing.

I've only watched two of your videos about my type INTJ and you instantly became my favourite expert on the topic. Exemplary breakdown my friend. First rate on all accounts. Consider yourself Liked, Shared, Subscribed, and Notification Belled.
I'm not so sure about that proposed outcome. I'm an INTJ and I imagined this mystical item that would give me 8 hours more per day (to sleep instantly ans save time) BUT I would first question the stability and safety of that item i.e can it hurt my in any way shape or form, how it will affect my mind body and spirit etc. as a result of that I would be incline to make it work. Although I will admit the process of making it work would piss me TF off so badly, I would hate every second of it...but I'd do it if it could be used for my other goals. Perfection is the object of my desire so you intrigue me with the possibility of that. Anyways, I just thought I would share that idea with you. I grew up with a best friend who is INTP and I love hearing your ideas etc.
just to elaborate on that, sure I use things that have been verified as safe like a computer for example. but a mystical item that cannot be verified would have to be otherwise my time is useless if i die, or age faster or something crazy.
That was my reaction. I picked the INTP side on that question. What's the catch? Needs investigation. Also need to consider the ramifications of having that benefit over the long term, and whether you would become dependent on the object to function properly.
yea same... I was like "what if it shortens my life span? thats not convnient at all" lmao
Yep, still an INTP. (I didn’t think the video was going to make me question my type. I just watched it anyway and kept thinking yep - INTP. That’s me)
Same.
I feel the "mysterious object" thought experiment was a little skewed; because if you can wait a little while and get more out of the thing then just taking it now. Why wouldn't you? (unless you were in extreme circumstances and need it now)
Very well explained and easy to understand and short (didn't have the time to get bored or be distracted since new information kept being introduce at "right moment" and after being explained in a straightforward manner).
I've been spending a long time studying and thinking whether I'm an Intj, Intp or Infj and I always get more confused watching these videos and trying to understand what is the "true me"... Well, I think it's pretty INTP, but I'm gonna keep the options open
Nice video tho
I found myself at this video because my results on the test confused me. When I took the test for the first time I got Intp. Which I myself agreed to because of how accurate it is...
But then it became confusing, whenever I retook the test, its always intj. I wondered if the test was wrong the first time or is it wrong the second time. So I took the test a couple more times. Intj.
So went to RUclips for help. I once read someone's comment about the test not being 100% accurate and I should do my own research to find my own type. So I did. Searching around, reading the tests descriptions and watching related videos and occasionally looking at memes and finally I came here to realise that I am indeed an Intp.
The evidence is too much to deny after hearing the explanation and examples.
But I know one day I will come back to this video to listen to it again when something about the description doesn't quite match me or when someone says something that I can't relate to and is apparently 'relatable' to Intps. I wonder when this day will come
I have always been on the fence with my tests revealing INTJ 65% of the time and INTP the remaining 35. But after this clear video I can certainly say I am an INTJ without a doubt. Whenever I consider future scenarios I usually backtrack from my 'goals' and see which path has the higher probability (branches off to more paths connecting to goal) to finally reach the goal. And also in that magical object question he asked, I felt 0 hesitation in choosing the 1st path...like analysing and knowing is all good but I wont risk that given that my analysis may not yield any results and i may never use the object. I wont wanna waste the bird already in my hand.
But...in the very next example, I swayed again towards INTP
Took the test innumerable times, tested as INTJ twice but from the functions , I'm definitely an INTP, you did a great job explaining this .
The thought of being able to help people narrow down their type is so great! ~ Nathan
Me alone: INTP
Me with other people: INTJ
Clear and insightful. INTP when alone. INTJ with others.
When you were talking about the differences it made me think about how much I hate being asked “where do you see yourself in 5 years?”
My brother asked me that once...and I told him I figured I would be doing exactly what I was doing at the time... and it's 20 years later and I still am. I knew myself then, and I know myself now, and I knew what I wanted out of life what I didn't want and that's what I have. Example: I prefer to rent because I don't want to have to maintain a house/yard or pay someone to do it, or pay to heat / cool an entire house when a small two-bedroom apartment gives me all the room and need and more. And I don't have to pay home-taxes, which are the highest in the country where I live.
I like how deep you know the intps you help me understand the way people react to intps in general you also help me understand myself more, this channel is the best when it comes to mbti information. Idk if that comes out messy but keep it up 👍 can't wait for your next video

Found this video very interesting, never met an intj but one my closest friends is an Intp. When you talked about the clothes it reminded me of how my intp friend has never cared about how he looked until he was at a party and they were playing superlatives. The question was who dressed the worst and everyone pointed at him. Now he takes forever to chose his outfits, still not that good at it but he is getting better.
My son is an INTP and he really has lovely taste, when asked.
His uniform is a tee-shirt, shorts or jeans. He could care less about clothes.

in tests i always either get INTP or INTJ (or even INFJ lmao) and i ended up deciding that im an INTP.... but now that i understand the cognitive functions i think im more of an INTJ, but i still relate with INTP characteristics a lot. the thing about me thinking that im an INTP is that i have depression and anxiety so sometimes the things that i do are not characteristically what INTJs would do so i act more like an INTP but my thought process is rlly different from what an INTP has. now when basing my personality type i rely more on the cognitive functions than what certain types are described as because when i read descriptions of types i feel like i can relate to a lot of them and that just feels wrong.
THIS IS EXACTLY ME
Absolutely love the examples :D
Thank you! I'm glad they weren't too weird ~ Nathan
Yo...yesterday the light 💡 in my closet went out and I was....’damn I’ll have to get that changed by maintenance because I can’t be out here dressing in the dark’...BUT I wear *Dark Colors* and yesterday while searching in my blacked out closet I was looking for my *linen all black top to go with my black pants and paired it all with my black scarf* and dark purple lipstick!
-Female INTJ ✔️(I even use the black check instead of the green...lol)
Edit: Well Played Sir on getting an INTJ to subscribe because I usually watch videos for months from a channel before clicking that button.
I think it’s because I don’t want a bunch of videos I won’t actually watch popping up in my feed taking up space when it’s not relevant to me specifically.
But that logic/analysis at the end of how you use subscriptions to help guide your video making decisions was like you were speaking native INTJ...Utility and Usefulness...subscribed!
Wow, I love this comment! INTJs seem to format their comments in such an easy to understand way, much appreciated. Also thank you for subscribing! It means a lot and is extremely helpful! Hopefully we keep you around! ~ Nathan
This was a needed diferenciation. I am an INTP mother of an INTJ son. You helped me understand the slight variation of traits and their expression.
That's really awesome to hear. That parent child dynamic sounds like a really brilliant and fascinating one ~ Nathan
INTP here. This video was done really well. Thank you for providing a non-biased video on the INTP (& INTJ). A true struggle to find.
INTP here. I have to say this was an excellent video. Probably the best breakdown of the two I had seen.
I’ve been testing as INTJ for the last 4 or 5 times, but still felt closer to INTP, but I am becoming more convinced INTJ is correct bc I don’t like becoming focused on the minutiae when I’ve got things to do.
Thanks for the confirmation when you said that the INTP was lovable and quirky i knew this was not me. lol
Haha! Glad I could help you confirm it ~ Nathan
but you still secretly type lol
This is the video I've been looking for.
Thank you!! Feel free to check out our other INTP and INTJ videos ~ Nathan
I'm indeed an INTP. But everyday I question myself if am I really one by trying multiple tests from differents sites and watching tons of videos. Today I am certain but the next days I'd probably start questioning myself again.
