If it weren't for the Iron Lady, I wouldn't have discovered this song, and I wouldn't have discovered the film (The King and I). I'm really glad to hear this beautiful piece.
Good musical, excellent level of cultural accuracy (even if historical accuracy leaves something to be desired, lolz) beautiful costumes, and growing up watching this (the vhs version...anyone still remember vhs? ;-) ) I genuinely thought that yul Brynner was Asian! Seriously! It was my godbrother who told me he's actually Russian, and after looking him up, it just blew my mind!!! He plays the part so well, expertly displaying a variety of dominant Asian/oriental male mannerisms, and even getting the accent and ever so slightly broken English just right. Strange thing is...my godbrother actually LOOKS like yul Brynner these days! Especially when he's shaved his head!!! And he's Filipino!
Oh what a great classical movie! After so many years people still talked about it and being inspired by the movie. Oh I love this song too. Thanks for sharing.
I'm sure that Beautiful music make us happy and give us hope and courage of our lives! I had heard this music when I was 13. Since then, I was fascinated by the music. Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynnner were agreat actor and actress. Authentic Music makes us lead to freedom and peace, I'm sure.
I can't believe people are here because of some movie about Thatcher, It's originally from the musical The King and I, I actually find it really sad that it's not known from that, especially seen as the scene it's in is so famous, such a beautiful musical (and that's coming from someone that hates most musicals)
You know what, historically accurate anne leonowen didn't even met king mongkut face-to-face and dare i say that 95 % of this movie is just a overfantasized fanfiction but this is really good music in my opinion
RIP, Eiserne Lady - Du warst die Einzige, die 1985 Dein Krokoledertäschchen auf den Tisch schleudern durfte by exclaiming 'I want our money back!' Maggie, Gott wird Dir ganz bestimmt gnädig sein, denn Du warst cool!
Stop not talking about margaret thatcher, the trolls shall opress. Whatever opinion you have just say it, just fucking say it and scream it! Dont hate the player hate the player who hates the most players.
Honestly I think it doesn't matter how you are introduced to something as long as you respect and appreciate the original place it came from
"from which it came"!!! never end a sentence with a preposition!..Sorry to be pedantic but good grammar strengthens your position!
@@joankittredge2052 Lol, I can't believe you just corrected my grammar four years ago
My great Nan brought me hear ,she's 95 and she absolutely loves this

eyyy, Filipino
Yul Brynner had Swiss/German, Russian, Romani and Mongol roots, so he was part East Asian.

I like Anna and the King better. At least they used actually Asian actors. Tuptim was played by some white woman in this, like wtf?
In this version she was played by Puerto Rican actress Rita Moreno
