I have to say I have watched several of your videos now... Just wanted to let you know ..that the videos are great ...well explained and made simple ( well made to look easy) 😂😁👍🏻 Thanks for sharing.. all the Chilton type manuals on the shelf .. seems like you have been at it a while..Just wanted to say thanks for sharing and giving good insight. .. great to see vintage motors saved ..

    Thanks for this video. Sooo much easier than trying to understand the cryptic instructions in the service manual.

    I found this channel because I'm looking at a 1957 Johnson 10 HP on a same year 14 foot Lone Star. I was curious about parts availability, but I think you answered that. Timely! Thank you for sharing your experience.

    Awesome video! Very helpful and informative as always! Although I suggest as a carb cleaner alternative to use diesel with a splash of atf. I mix about five gallons of diesel with one quart of atf. ATF is a detergent and diesel is a solvent and lubricant. Diesel being a lubricant will leave a film over the parts that prevent flash rusting.

    I am doing this now. Waiting for a new drive shaft because the one came with it all scuffed up. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks for the great video Brenden. Top notch. Just wish I had those seal pullers you have. Would have saved me from learning the hard way how not to do things.

    I ran into a problem with the prop shaft seal on my 1959 Evinrude 10hp. The sealin the kit was too small. After panicking i. Was able to i.d. the correct part number...Sierra, 18-2023. Perfect fit.

    Hi Brandon, I hit a rock and need to rebuild my gears. I’m replacing all two gears and pinion. What seal kit are you using in this video for the gear system? Thank you so much!

    On 10 hp motors: The 1957 and earlier used the "18" gear case. The 1958 and newer used the "7-1/2" gear case. (At least, that is what the old time mechanics called it.)
    Bigger, tougher gear case on 1957 and earlier 10hp motors. But, same principles of engineering and rebuilding are there.

    I have a 1956? AD-11 Johnson 7.5 hp. Can I follow the same procedure as your 10hp '58 unit, to replace the water pump? Others tell me I have to remove the top power head?

    The 304515 installer tool is no longer available. How do install the bushing without it?

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  Год назад +1

      Boats.net says it is, and shipps in only 255 days.
      Without the tool, I would put the greased o-ring into the cavity, and then just use a large punch to install the bushing (for the punch something just under 1/2" should work)

      what ads?

    • @4Da_Tech
      @4Da_Tech 4 года назад

      Ohh maybe you didnt realize this but your video are being hijacked to push political ads. Teresa greenfeild, jodi Ernest and some other bs. Ever 3 mins. I suppose you cannot control the ads they run but its made the videos un watchable. For example if i move the slider to verify the direct of the seal placement as it is hard to tell the direction its facing. Im hit with a new double set of 30 second ads. So i literally have to spend 5 min watching ads to go back and double check the assembly... i suppose its not your fault.

      I'm on Android Verizon in metro NYC, i don't know if that means anything... but Sept 23, 2020 this vid was peppered with 5 secs ads either 1, or 2 together, every 4 mins apart, mostly Swiffer mops, Hefty bags and Auto Zone parts.
      I hope you're getting paid for them, that's why I don't mind if the creator is making a bit of bank. I don't skip ads for that reason alone. If not look in to it.
      That said very good vid, I came here from Mustei1, after finding his vids on account having this engine as a kid in 72, but not the tools to keep it running.
      But now I have a chance to pick one up from a friend who is giving it away
      Though with Mustei- nice guy, easy presence, interesting stuff, but as a channel for know-how, not so much. Lol
      He really bodged the water pump shaft pin by guessing something was wrong with it when half his comments saying No and the othet saying Hell Yea.
      I was left totally confused.
      So this part one was great. I'm looking for part 2 now.
