I can't argue much with your assessment on these bikes! While I was critical of the Daytona 660 at launch vs the Daytona 675, it did win me over a bit after I got to try it. True the 8r is a little more comfortable I didn't enjoy the quickshifter and missed the top end power. While the Daytona doesn't come with a quickshifter as standard($300 addon) sadly but when equipped it works much smoother than the 8r. Both have a place no doubt and both are good bikes, but the Daytona 660 is my choice. Good video as always!
Bob. I watch all the time all the way from Nigeria. For this review and becos I do everyday commute, the Suzuki is a better deal but based on your video b4, I think the cbr650r would be it for me.
@@jamesschaffer5504 so your first issue is that the St765RS will not be emissions compliant... it's already not just sticking a fairing on. Have you worked in global marketing? Any innovation is an major resource investment, especially for a smaller than Japanese big four producer and on top of why do it when it is at high risk of being a sales failure and it will cannibalise sales from it's already existing aggressive 765 RS/Moto 2. A new popular market has opened up that they need sales presence in. Besides they most likely considered what you think is so easy, and wisely decided it was not worth it.
It would be fabulous but £15k … and inexperienced bikers buying these wouldn’t buy it. The Street Triple 765 is so good & sells by the boat load. Probably wouldn’t make economic sense for Triumph
@101BadBreath What are you talking about, the 765 Streety sells fairly well, and it has all the components for sporty riding except fairings, which are relatively inexpensive in the aftermarket, so you can add it at your own leisure. The Daytona 675 and supersports as a whole aren't selling very much, and haven't been for a long while. Pair a lowering market with difficulty of emissions, it's hard to justify. Suzuki circumvent this somewhat by literally never changing their older bikes
I'm afraid my next bike will be the Daytona after Trident. I hope this bike is only the beginning of a new Daytona family for Triumph and later they might announce another with a bigger engine like 765. That would be a dream.
Interesting comparison. There's not much in it imo despite them going about the task quite differently. The Daytona is better looking & has a more exciting engine. However, the Suzuki's isn't boring & is more useable at legal speeds. The Suzuki also has more stable & predictable handling as well as better build quality & warranty too. I personally prefer the GSX8R but the Daytona is cooler & with improved standard suspension, geometry changes & better build quality, it would beat the Suzuki imo.
I picked the 2024 CBR650R. Looks better than both of them, has Bluetooth and nav as standard and has the inline 4 that makes its like 2 bikes, down low is very compliant and relaxed and above 8k its goes mental. Ideal for cruising around and then have some fun. Just my opinion. I do like the daytona but that instrument panel killed it for me and they dont paint the rear of the bike (but the stickers you have are really good)
I mean a great looking bike but more of a heavier Sport Tourer if we are honest. I much prefer the sharpness of handling on the R7...Everyone has their own preference, luckily for us there is plenty of choice.
I know that there's a shift away from IL4, but the CBR650R might pique the interest of guys who want to downsize from having a career solely riding IL4s. Got an 08 R1 and 02 Fazer Thou in the garage so there needs to be something very tempting to even allow me to consider chopping in either bike for more road-based mannerisms and fun (i.e. i want to be able to use WOT from time to time just for the giggles and NOT find myself on police camera action)
Unless you get a ridiculous good deal, the answer for the Suzuki is gsxs s750 and the answer for the Daytona is save a few more months for a speed triple 765.......
Good quick review as always. A bit of brochure though. The Daytona has softer suspension and reportedly finds its limits sooner when pushing on. Also the front is reportedly a bit vague without pumping up the shock preload to put more weight on the front, giving a harder ride over bumps. So maybe a real handling comparison would be cool. Also the GSX has quite a bit more torque and gets to 100kph 1/10th sec quicker than the Daytona despite less bhp. I prefer selecting power and traction modes over the wrapped version. In the wet I leave power on B and increase traction control. And finally, the Triumph dash is lame. Buy hey both great bikes. Loving my 8S! Is it worth the trade to one of these?

I know with aftermarket help and tuning, Suzuki can put down near 90 wheel hp and about 65 ft-lb, besides losing 12 pounds mass with the usual. There's no way the RS660 could compete with that power and torque. Also tuning reduces heat and lean operation, which reduces vibration.
The RS660 has 100 horses, and is a good bit lighter. It's got more premium suspension too. It'd be quite a push to get the suzuki to match it on track.
@@thomaschilds8781 Not at the wheel it doesn't. 100 horsepower is 88 or so at the wheel. A tuned Suzuki makes 88-90 wheel hp, and with 116cc worth more torque. Aprilia and Triumph will also have some gains with full exhaust and tuning, but not the same 10 horsepower and 10 ft-lb the Suzuki regains with tuning. Welcome to Euro emissions regs. 😖

Got my Daytona 660 coming next week! Snowdonia white for me. 😊 I've traded in my Speed 400 for it. Lovely bike on B and back roads, but not a lot of cop going to work on the M11 and M25... 🫤 Shame really, as I love it, but having an XSR900 GP coming in a few weeks too, that'll likely be my "garage queen" and the 660 will be used for weekend trips to work. I felt bad riding the 400 on the motorway as it isnt designed for that, I'm sure it'll cope, but running out of puff at 'normal' cruising speeds isn't a lot of good when you have BMW knobbers sat on your back wheel! 🙄 Great review of both bikes, I loved my old GSX-R750 WP many, many years ago, but I'm not a fan of the GSX8R styling tbh. 🫤

CBR650R with e-clutch. Looks better, sounds better, has all the tech you need. Costs as much as the suzuki. By not including it in the comparison you're making a big omission to the community.
@@allangrse617 5kg is completely negligible unless you're racing on a track. Also, every single review from bike journalists who I respect has said the e clutch works exactly the same as a quick shifter except better.
I owned the 2017 cb650f (the one just prior to the cb650r) and it was a great bike except for one massive fail that made me fall out of love with it - a massive hole in the midrange. Unless you came out of a bend with 8000+ rpm you were just left waiting for something to happen. It screamed at the top which is fun in it's own way when you're going banzai, but the lack of punch in the middle for 7/10ths riding got annoying. Due to budget constraints (new windows, new kitchen, new child) I've now got an ancient 1st gen ER6F and I honestly like it better for blasting around the countryside than the CB. Sure, the CB was a little quicker, had way better suspension, etc, but the chunky, satisfying midrange of the old twin makes it a great little roadster. It's an overused saying in biking, but midrange is more important than top end power on the road. I should have learned that lesson 20 years ago when I had a zx6r.😅
@@ewganhoff Was a bit too fast, its only 2kg, but my point is, why do You want to pay ekstra for something that gives You no advantage, ads weight, and make the bike look lumpy?

The first words of your video are ‘ today’s modern affordable SPORTSBIKES ‘ … but when I mention the fact that old sportsbikes are far better than a parallel twin suddenly they aren’t appropriate ??? 😂😂😂😂😂 yeah sure
Suzuki 8r is a sporty naked bike and it is overhyped as well as overpriced. I wouldn't doubt it if all these reviews were paid for, especially the mainstream bike channels. They always try to make it sound better than it is and better than the bikes its compared to. It's heavy for what it is and lacking in power as well as rev range. The low end torque is not that great, its good but they always try to specifically point it out. Bc thats its best feature from it. It is It's own thing and built for comfort, that's it. Simple as that
I also own one, I got it bc it was sporty enough and decent as a starter bike. I forgot to mention the traction control, and the levels of tc. As well as 3 levels of power modes, if you want speed and power this is not it. If you're looking for decent fun and decent speed with A LOT of comfort this is a good pick.
Low end to mid end torque is great! it’s pulls way harder and feels more powerful than it is. It’s why everyone compliment the torque. Also like mine, with a tune and exhaust it’s pushing close to MT-09 levels of torque. It’s just a better SV-650/MT-07 which been praised for years/decades.
The flying eyes sounded great, until you find out they don’t do prescription lenses in the uk. You have to order their £179+ glasses and then get someone else to make the lenses for you?! Waste of time
Its all personal and subjective i know but still Suzukis are ugly :( Its like a movie using fake products to avoid paying copyright for designs... I love my daytona and my only critic is that tail end is not my favorite i wish it was slightly more agressive, not as much as an R7 maybe but still a little bit

8R without a doubt
I can't help it. I hate parallel twins. You'll never get me on another one.
Hmm and if You did the same with Triumph, then what?
The RS660 has 100 horses, and is a good bit lighter. It's got more premium suspension too. It'd be quite a push to get the suzuki to match it on track.
@@exothermal.sprocketSorry I meant what if You did the same with the Aprilia?
@@thomaschilds8781 Not at the wheel it doesn't. 100 horsepower is 88 or so at the wheel. A tuned Suzuki makes 88-90 wheel hp, and with 116cc worth more torque.
Aprilia and Triumph will also have some gains with full exhaust and tuning, but not the same 10 horsepower and 10 ft-lb the Suzuki regains with tuning.
Welcome to Euro emissions regs. 😖
@@thomaschilds8781 Suzuki has taken podium several times already racing in Twins Cup with MotoAmerica along side the RS660. It's totally competitive.
Jeez, how these bikes make me mourn for those halcyon days watching RG500's race FZR750's at Box Hill. 82 nags from an 800? I'm good thanks, I'd honestly rather take my pushbike.
Doesn't take the (Barry!) sheen off another MotoBob upload though...
Just in time for the announcement on the new CFMoto triple 🤣
Really let down by the consistent criticisms of the Daytona handling and build quality, but interested to see how the latest CFMoto sport bikes shape up to be.
Great review of both bikes, I loved my old GSX-R750 WP many, many years ago, but I'm not a fan of the GSX8R styling tbh. 🫤
3 cilinder wins always over the 2, but like the looks of the suzuki
Suzuki in India market:🤡🤡
Suzuki in international market:🗿🗿
They are launching the 8r in India bud
HOW DID YOU FIND A BLACK 8R
Europe sells them in black
The Daytona is just so much more interesting than the text book Suzuki
Sure lol
“Quite a bit more power” = 12 hrspwr
🤷🏾♂️
I went to look out the window to see the ambulance
can you make a ranking video that can conclude what is the best super bike in all aspects
such as:
twisties, straightline, hp, torque, riding aids such as, traction control, abs, engine brake, imu, TFT dash, riding modes, for tall/short riders, high power, beast applied to both road and track mainly road
id really appreciate it because I wish to buy a superbike and my options vary between
suzuki gsxr1000r, fireblade triple r sp, r1m, h2, supper leggera, m1000rr, RSV4 add please if possible hypernaked such as the super duke 13/1290 evo r, the tuono factory and non, the diavel, h2 sx se, as a hyper tourer
all in all I hope you can make a video about those bikes that will help with alls the aspects I gave you I want to find the perfect bike that has it all and is the best out of the best lets say a supreme rank bike
I don’t see the point of the 660 Daytona when the Street Triple 765 is right there
CBR650R with e-clutch. Looks better, sounds better, has all the tech you need. Costs as much as the suzuki. By not including it in the comparison you're making a big omission to the community.
Relax. He's doing much more you or me.
Yeah the e-clutch ad 5kg to the weight, and looks kind of weird... Why would You want that? 🤷🏻♂️
Aprilia all day every day
Suzuki reliability for me❤❤
What about the zx6r????
or the cbr600rr... both better than these 2
Different class of bike
@@OhNellly Actually not really. Both Suzuki and Triumph list these models under sport bikes. Triumph has a tradition with the 3 cylinders engines, but I don't understand why Suzuki gives us that ugly crap instead of reviving the GSX-R750... Cheap bastards...
It may appear similar, but it's entirely outside this class.
Middle weight sports bike!!!!!
Or are we being picky and classing it as supersport??
Yes more money
But the aprilia RS660 was highlighted.
What's your recommended test ride route from Fowlers and back?
Or simply buy a real middle weight sports bike if that’s your desire and look for used bikes from when the ‘sports bike market’ was actually real sportsbikes …. Suzuki GSXR , Yamaha R6 , Honda CBR and Kawasaki 636 to name but a few 🤷🏻♂️
That’s a different type of bike and wouldn’t make sense to compare here.
The first words of your video are ‘ today’s modern affordable SPORTSBIKES ‘ … but when I mention the fact that old sportsbikes are far better than a parallel twin suddenly they aren’t appropriate ??? 😂😂😂😂😂 yeah sure
@@stevedavies-pp7dpThose are all super sports, that’s a whole different level of bikes.
The reason that the the industry has changed over to this type of bike is because those bikes you mentioned aren't selling anymore.
Daytona 660 or Honda CBR650R
They dont have black over here in the US 😭😭💔
I love that colour scheme on the Daytona, super sexy!
The handlebar situation on the GSX-8R isn't pretty at all.
the triumph looks bulk ❤
Suzuki for me....
The flying eyes sounded great, until you find out they don’t do prescription lenses in the uk. You have to order their £179+ glasses and then get someone else to make the lenses for you?! Waste of time
Daytona
im a triumph fan and have owned 3 triumphs over the last 5 years. Never been a suzuki fan yet I would much rather have the gsx than the "daytona"
If only the Suzuki had clip-ons
suzuki absolutely won
Riding triangle should have been a bit more sporty
@idrisahmed2659 you wouldn't say that after riding for over an hour straight
I ride 2 hrs straight on my R7 and I am 49 years old, I doubt either of these would be an issue if you are in decent shape @@boris2997
He said he’d go for the Triumph
Agree Suzuki hits the scores right Daytona to is a great bike.
take the aprillia rs 660
At that budget, take the 765R
@@thomaschilds8781 not the same class bro but i understand you
What a minger, that Suzuki. That alone leaves it out of the equation...
Suzuki for me in this comparison …
But overall the Aprilia 660 🥰
I will get the triumph 660 and change the ugly triple clamp, and put a clip on it
Is there like a competition going on who cld build the ugliest front of a motorcycle....
The triumph screams budget 😞
A used gsxr600, thats easy
Its all personal and subjective i know but still Suzukis are ugly :( Its like a movie using fake products to avoid paying copyright for designs... I love my daytona and my only critic is that tail end is not my favorite i wish it was slightly more agressive, not as much as an R7 maybe but still a little bit
Suzuki by an R😉
Suzuki all day.
Gosh, that Suzuki looks ugly from the front...
Pity you can’t see the Suzuki. Sure vanishes into the background with that horrible paint scheme.
Looks a lot better in the flesh
