Spot on to focus on the engine , a motorcycle is an engine on wheels everything else is secondary especially these days when all bikes are so competent.
So between these 2 it all comes down to triple / twin preference . I always say Triumphs triple is the greatest engine of the past 30 years which I stand by , but the Suzuki 800 engine has been designed for real roads where torque is king and for me I'd edge towards the 8R . Slightly less frantic and more usable and relaxing for an everyday bike with touring in mind .😊

Another great video. So I’ve ridden both of these today, pretty much back to back. I’m much shorter than you at 5’7” and found both bikes fit me well.
Looks wise the Daytona seems better finished from a quality of paint point of view and looks far nicer to my eye.
Handling is good on both bikes, the Daytona has a lovely front end, the Suzuki more planted but both really good.
In terms of engine if you’re a really sporty rider the Daytona is noticeably faster, it has a genuine top end thrust that the Suzuki lacks. However I realise that many people ride more sedately and the torque on the Suzuki is lovely. That’s not to say the Daytona is lacking either, just not as thrusty low down. Fuelling is impeccable on both bikes.
Currently Triumph are offering 2.9% on finance, with some great deals I’ve seen at £7795.00 . At that money it’s hard to say no!
    Appreciate the video, great job!

Great video comparison of 2 great bikes. For me it’s the Triumph for the sporty handling, rush of higher revs and the characterful triple engine, but there’s also much to love with the Suzuki for a more relaxed low rev high torque ride I don’t think the Suzuki would be a disappointment either.

Nice one TAYM never ridden with a quick shifter so have no idea on how good or otherwise they are but on looks for me the Daytona might just edge it I thought the wind noise was slightly more pronounced on the GSX .I would imagine that for a person of your height would; find the GSX more comfortable being a little longer/larger maybe I was surprised that you found the Daytona slightly more comfortable and all bikes should have self canceling indicators for sure 😉 . Both your triumphs are twins so a different engine would be good 🤔 as a triumph fan boy that you are 😜 it should come down to how the bike makes you feel and does it have that ‘ look back at it ‘ factor when you’ve parked up🤔 both my Moto Guzzi’s give me both of those which is why they’re probably keepers😉👍🏻 carry on that man Caio for now tat ta 👍🏻

Thank you for a splendid and insightful comparison. I’m a Triumph fan but am not surprised by your conclusion. I had a Trident 660 earlier this year, on paper it seemed a good complement to Buddy’s cousin. I finally had to admit I didn’t like it. Just like you said about the Daytona, it wasn’t grown up, I was a bit embarrassed by it really having been out of short pants now for over 6 decades. Ok it was quick ish but what a palaver it made, not effortless like my old 675 striple,so I never went much quicker than on the Bonnie. What I really want to say was I got the quick shifter on mine, it was only 300 quid. If you get a chance to try one have a go. Mine worked great down but at high revs and hard acceleration it just refused to work. Which I thought was the whole point. I could get smoother and faster up shifts using the old fashioned “clutchless” method. Oh and I did find the handling unpredictable in sharpish bends. I traded it for a Street Twin or Speed 900 or whatever. It’s absolutely Bloody Marvellous. It’s my third but the first one I’ve truly appreciated. Feels so different to the T100. Anyway, I’m sorry I’ve gone on at such length but it’s been a bit of a topic with me this year. Why don’t they just resurrect the 675? It was loads better.

Fantastic comparison TAYM and even though I'm a Triumph fan boy I think the Suzuki would have it for me just because I think it is a more 'real world" bike where torque is more useful than outright power. It pains me to say it I do think the Suzuki is the better looking by a hair but I can also see how that triple could be the thing that sways it the other way for some folks.

i think suzuki is definitely the right choice , i just think the suzuki will be more versatile and not just a sport bike. Triumph may be quality but japanese built motorcycles are still the benchmark . That said i am on my 10th bike in the last year 😬and i don,t think there are many bad ones now. You,ll never know which is best till you try them all . (note i have given up trying to ride z900rs like a classic 500 , i found the same as you it encourages silliness). New bike next week 👍

Great look at both bikes Mr TAYM.
The Daytona is a fine bike but you bought the bike that I would think works better for what you’ve said you want to do, tour. Two-up touring, definitely the Suzuki wins, especially for a pillion and I’ll take the torque over winding out the engine to achieve the same performance.
Back in the day that was why I went with the ZZR1200 over the ZZR600. That was much more difference in performance and size of bike than between the Triumph and Suzuki, but I never regretted having the larger bike on long, multi day rides. I did wish I was on the smaller bike in our mountain’s twisty roads at times.
Another aspect of long touring rides is fatigue. The R will win out there with the torque (with or without the speed shifter) because you can be lazy with your shifting and get away with it.
I don’t mind the headlights on the R, besides, I’d be adding amber accessory lights anyway.
Next week the T7 goes in to have some Denali lights added, a larger capacity fuel tank, heated grips on ProTaper bars. The Seat Concepts low seat has already transformed the riding experience for me, better/flatter seat and now I can get the balls of my feet on the deck.
Have a great weekend everyone! I’m feeling much better. 👍

My gal eliminated harsh soaps from our place because she is sensitive and I have psoriasis but some perfumed soaps might make that happen. That’s my only guess. I take an injectable medication for my psoriasis every month, which does something with my immune system. So my reactions can be a bit off to colds at times. I wonder if the speed police will become like the Inland revenue, so that if you don't report your numbers they will do their own assessment! Or is that too Orwellian even for today's world...... ??

I hate anything two cylinder except V-twin. The only advantage Suzuki has over Triumph is that Suzuki is made in Japan, and Triumph made in India and China. Honda CBR650R beath both of them in all departments and is four cylinder.

The triumph isn’t made in India or china 🤔 not sure which Triumph you are thinking of🤔 but I do like the Honda, just a bit plain Jane for me 😁 thanks AM 😁

Whether it is made in China/India, it won't matter, BMW 900cc engine is also made by Loncin, a Chinese motorcycle maker.
