The fallout between Waters and Gilmour was that David REFUSED to join BDS as David knew joining it would ruin the band's legacy. When The Rolling Stones played Tel Aviv, Roger got a lot of people to join the boycott including Nick Mason but David Gilmour said no to it. After that revelation in 2014/15, Roger went back to badmouthing David and Rick at the time of The Endless River's release. David took Roger's insults with stride until the fans who are right leaning an/or not left leaning got irked with Roger's hatred for Orange Man Bad and Israel caused FEd (who runs the Pink Floyd websites) to cease promoting Roger's endeavors after the release of Is This the Life We Really Want?. Until 2017, they promoted Roger's activities until he ran his mouth. I used to believe the conspiracy theories that Roger endorses and he is a fan of David Duke but I woke up one day and it conflicted with my Christianity so I have since denounced what I believed and I still question some of the policies Israel has BUT they are our greatest ally and a democratic nation in the Middle East.
If you’re a true Christian, then you know it immoral to take a side, because if you do then you are guaranteeing the destruction of the other side. This is why as an atheist I call for peace and take no side, but know that while religion still holds some of us in its thrall, there will never be peace. 🫤
Roger Waters puts the C into 'See you next Tuesday'. As a Pink Floyd fan I must admit that I saw his 'The Wall Live' tour in 2011, nowadays I wish I hadn't ever given my money to this thoroughly unpleasant man.
Religion is one of the reasons but it's also politics and MONEY! Not all Christians believe dying for a cause is noble, I am a real Christian who believes in Christ but not into religion itself although I'm a Catholic. The terrorists bought into the extremism which was promised (to quote Greg Lake) "Seven virgins and a mule" if they did the evil deed.
I’m so sick of Waters’ antisemitism - it’s especially hard since politically I spent much of my life seeing eye to eye with his politics. Or so I thought. Now he is just vile.
@@carbootstudios2459 For many years I said the same thing in defending Waters statements but he's gone far beyond criticizing the Israeli government. And by the way, it has been revealed that Waters constantly made Anti-Semetic comments as far back as the 1970s (just listen to what Bob Ezrin said about working with him on The Wall album, and Ezrin is a guy who has admitted that Israel engages in questionable practices against the Palestinians.) Waters comments have increasingly over time gone far beyond attacking the Israeli government; he does quite clearly hate the Jewish people.
Waters again proves his personal „us and them“. Frankly speaking I have enough of Redux, Pink Floyd Fans who shall fuck off, if they don’t subscribe Waters political opinion (as announced on the latest tour), Gilmour-bashing and so on. For me it’s now time to ignore Water-News. At least I won’t search for it in the future. Thank you Darren for your well-thought-out statement. Peace.
Hey Darren, this might be a silly question but it is obvious you are a big Pink Floyd fan it is what mainly got you popular on RUclips, how do you separate the art from the artist and has Rogers' descent into madness soured your interest in their music? Or are you the type of person who separates art from artist and do not care
As a 'Top Fan', I have been on a quixotic mission to push back against RW's many erroneous claims on his social media posts since March of '22. Not that I am anybody, but his reach is vast, and my family is Ukrainian, so I felt the need to clue-in his millions of followers that his every pronouncement is not gospel. As I watch these various interviews (*always* with people whose views align with his own), I notice him grasping to remember names, sequences of events, repeating himself, or becoming alternately angry or emotional, etc. I am coming around to the belief that for those of us still cogent, rational, and retaining the capacity for critical thinking and discernment, it's becoming a bit like calling out a senile person for being senile. As you correctly state @ 5:34, he has no one to check him; surrounded by sycophants and others 'riding the gravy train', I'm afraid it's only going to get worse. He still has sufficient 'moments of clarity', and enough support to continue as he has been - drivers to get him places, musicians and crews to fulfill contracts and execute new variations on that show of his, which is, let's face it, one he has been doing more or less the same for decades. His success, like so many other self-interested wealthy megalomaniac narcissists, guarantees that he won't ever have to question himself or his beliefs, which is why the doubling-down. Until he 'shuffles in the gloom of his sick room and talks to himself as he dies'. You kind of hate to see it.
We may have all knew that Roger Waters wasn't a nice person, but I'm not sure anyone realized (until recently of course) just the extent that it went. Frankly, to me, he always seemed like a good guy in one-on-one interviews, and I drew the conclusion that he was the kind of person who was a good guy to talk to in this one-on-one setting and just a difficult guy to work with. And I actually do still maintain that for a period of time, that may have been true. But that's all totally gone and for at minimum the last five years (probably longer) he has turned into one of the most enraging and flat out horrible people on Earth.
I'm glad I saw him before he got too looney. Or maybe he already was, and just wasn't as vocal about it. Roger is causing so much damage to himself.
Seen the footage, he loved wearing the jackboots, leather trench-coat and armband, with the machine gun, was really revelling in the role.
I’ve always been mad, I know I’ve been mad 🤪
good comment about Roger who keeps making stupid hateful comments instead avoiding the media at his age
Why do they let him out of the Fletcher Memorial Home? A good case for EST.....

I wouldn't wish that. You had no way of knowing that this is who he'd become.
The lip syncing is what upset me.

Critiquing the Israeli government isn’t exactly tantamount to antisemitism.

Sources?
@@carbootstudios2459 The story reported on in this video. Waters denying that Israel was attacked is Anti-Semitic, period.

I mean being as back as the 70s.
Too true Darren, totally agree.
I was a disciple as well but I'm afraid Polly Sampson is spot on.

I sold all my Waters vinyl and won’t buy anything from him again. As for PF, there are four other blokes involved…so… 🫤
Keep thinking of the Genesis song "Blood on the Rooftops".
Indeed, it's never-ending, unfortunately...

Fair points Darren. All this picking a side nonsense while sitting on a nice comfy sofa is absurd.

David reinstated Rick, Bob Ezrin and Storm Thorgerson into the Pink Floyd camp after Roger left.
