Just got the 13.5T and 80A Turbo ESC installed in my XXXT and gave it new life. I had a Hitec HFX ESC and Trinity Speed Gems 14/2 brushed combo in it. What a freakin’ difference! This thing will wheelie so hard on pavement it flips on its top! I won’t be running it like that racing my buddy’s (two have the exact same combo) on our backyard tracks, but it’s cool to have more power than I’ve ever had in the (now) old Losi! Thanks for the video!
Awesome video!!! You did a great job explaining the setup procedures. The program box is a must have for this ESC. That turbo is wicked fast. I got the 7.5 and probably should have gotten a little tamer motor for my T5M. I want to get a good verity of motors since they are so cheap. The whole setup feels like it's of good quality.
Awesome video, pure gold! this is the only video/guide that explains how to setup Turnigy electronics I managed to find. I've already ordered a 17.5 turnigy motor (to race in that class) and will get a servo, esc + programming card for my Durango dex210. Thanks for the cool video.
Great job with the video. Helped me calibrate my ESC and 6.5T Trackstar motor yesterday. Will run it in blinky mode for now as I think the 6.5T motor is already powerful enough for my track and will add in the boost and turbo feature gradually so I can closely monitor the temperature. Thanks again.
I have this set installed in my slash. I've beat the carp out of this set and it has never missed a beat. I've run. 3 lipos one right after another no problems. Great set for the money in my opinion. The motor has already snapped my input shaft on my trans twice with only a 2 cell lipo.
You're welcome bro glad the video helped you a little. A lot of people knock these before they try them, but they're are bad ass for the price. Thanks for watching.
Just got my Sakura D4 drifter ready and installed Trackstar 13.5T V2 on it with Trackstar 80A Turbo ESC, luckily I picked programming card as well.. so I'm going to try it out now :) Thanks for that video, very helpful!
Just installed mine with the 7.5 in a Team C evo 2wd. Can't wait until I get to the track. Mine was calibrated out of the box but didn't seem to have full forward. I bought the wrong program card but I used your video to get it going. Think I went to crazy on the 7.5 but with the price I plan on getting a few different turn motors.
Very cool you did a good job.....I got the 5.5 coming and the same esc to mount onto a RC10B44.1 ....cant wait to see what it will do.....Thanks for the info---im new to the game and simple solid info is hard to come by and you did a top notch job....keep it up...now to find out how to solder this stuff together...LoL
Nice man glad you found it helpful. Soldering is a little intimidating at first cause you don't wanna mess anything up. Once you get it down tho it makes life easier lol. Just make sure you have a good iron and proper solder or else it will make things difficult. Thanks for watching
This is the kind of video very helpful, thanks a lot. This esc is very easy to calibrate, even with old transmitter and receiver. I have put this esc with a 6.5T 5485kv in a Turnigy sct 2wd. Very fast and nervous, i don't put turbo yet because it isn't need for the moment. Even at fast speed the car can make rear wheeling. Thks again.
You're welcome and thanks for watching.... Also thanks for the positive feedback. I really like these turnigy esc and motor combos glad you feel the same
Holy sh*t is it hard to find any instructions on Turnigy products.....glad I came across your video. it explains alot. thanks for posting. just installed my turnigy esc/motor combo 80a esc/brushless 4000kv on my traxxas xl5 2wd stampede (see my channel for video) it kicks Ass, out of the box. but didn't know how to program throttle position since it didn't come with instructions (i was sometimes missing reverse) (i will try this out in the next few days and see if it helps) thanks for the info on the programing box too
Break frequensy in 11:48 maybe is something like ABS like some transmitters have ABS option for the nitro rc's i am not sure i just make a thought test it if you want to see. Maybe when push the break it's not break hard but break the car softer like break and neutral break and neutral to don't loose traction like the old style breaks that completly stop the wheels and car slide forward. I don't know if you understand i just give an idea, by the way good video and very helpful.
are you sure you wernt experiencing a reverse delay a lot of ESCs have that to stop you shooting backwards on track into the path of others. You might be able to turn it off with the programming card.
Great video and thanks for sharing. Hobbyking has a new program box that is supposedly for the 120 V2 esc. I'm wondering if I can use the program box you have in the video. Thoughts?
On most of the Trackstar esc you need to push back twice for reverse first time you push back you get your breaking and then let it off and push back again for your reverse.
You got to set up your throttle trim on your raido to stop that humming on the esc, that's it's way of saying it's picking up a slight throttle signal from the radio without you touching it
Hey man thanks for the video ;) I see you're using a turnigy nano tech LiPo battery. Just wondering how much run time do you get from that battery and the trackstar motor/ESC combo. peace
Great video. I just got the same setup. I'm kinda of a newbie. Couldn't quite tell but where is the bec? I have this esc and a spektrum sr300 rx. Trying to figure out how to get it all in there. Thx
The bec in the majority of esc's is internal so you won't see it. This particular esc has a external bec or capacitor, which is the black bulky part hanging from the esc. As far as fitment goes, it's a tight fit in the b5m and I don't know the size of a spektrum receiver so I can't help with that, sorry. Hope this helps you out a bit. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video. I have a similar 120A Trackstar ESC which Im trying to program and your video helped me understand a bit more. Did you ever found out what were the unknown features were?
Have you figured out what the diffrent boost and turbo timings do and or what the best setup for this esc is? I have the same thing except it it 80a. I love it. I'm running a redcat blackout with the trackstar turbo esc and 10.5t motor.
The esc has held up. I don't race as much anymore, but I put a ton of battery packs through it when I was racing. Still recommend this to anyone looking for a budget esc. Thanks for watching.
Good video, its nice to see the opinion of someone who is familiar with quality parts such as the tekin stuff. I didn't know I needed the program card when i ordered my esc. i'm pretty sure you Can't get into the program features without the card. .... What is your opinion of these parts now that you've had over a year to mess with them??
I like these electronics cause people can get into the hobby for cheap. Even though I do love these cheap setups, I still find myself running Tekin. I've always been a Tekin fan boy mainly because of customer service. My turnigy motors are still holding up and running strong. As far as esc goes I sold it with my buggy, but I didn't have any issues with it the entire time. Thanks for watching
Nice video, explains a lot. just sad that you can't find anywhere an in depth explanation of all the program card features. You video makes it at least more clear on how to use those items. thx.
Hey! Good video, but what interests me I can with the ESC controller also a 4.5T or 5.5 Turn motor drive a car 1:10 or can it not for this ESC controller?
I would definitely recommend to anyone racing at just a regular club level as I do. I'm sure if you take it more serious as in trying to get sponsored and all that, more than likely you'll run a named brand esc. I still haven't had a issue with it besides not going into reverse consistently. As far as smoothness, power, and reliability goes. This is hands down a must buy esc. For the price I would say it wouldn't hurt just to try one out. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching.
Hello sir...i got my 44 all rebuilt and hooked up with that esc and the 5.5t TS motor as well....the esc will not go into program mode and the program box and the esc did not come with a wire to hook them up...where did you find the connector for yours?? HK is sending me a new esc all mine dose is all 3 lights flash nonstop---if you know anything that i might be doing wrong please let me know.......thanks in advance for any help with this
Hello, thank you for watching. There is no additional wire needed. Just watch my video closely at the point were I connect wire to program box. That wire is the esc wire, I just unplug from receiver and plug into program box. Once the esc is plugged into program box just power esc and lcd on program box will come on. Hope this helps you.
Not sure, I just know sometimes it takes a while. Then I recalibrate and it's a lot quicker going into reverse. It has a option for it to go to instant reverse also. Thanks for watching
Hi thanks for watching... I like the mxv I used it for a while. Perfectly capable for a starter radio even just a budget radio. I upgraded to a mt4 only for the forth channel and a few fictions. Other than that the mt4 has a better feel to it and that's about it. I still have my mxv for backup just in case. Thanks again for watching.
Nobody ever tells you to calibrate the ESC first and they don't tell you anything about the LED's. I have an older version of a TrackStar ESC and programming card that I got when I bought a buggy already done. My problem is as soon as I let off on the throttle, it immediately applies full brake. I don't even know if this programmer will work on it. Help!
The esc is limited so you will not be able to run any motor with it. It's good for 17.5 racing, I wouldn't be able to run a 9.5 motor on it. So I guess it all depends on what you need it for.
I did The same exact step but it didn't work. It keeps blinking.. McCann I do it without the sensor port? Also, can I run it without the programming card? I have te turnigy 80 amp turbo to a reedy sonic 10.5t
Thanks for watching.... Depending on what size track you run on. I just posted a video of my hot bodies d413 4wd buggy running a trackstar motor 7.5t. Anywhere between 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5 should be good. So big track 6.5 smaller track 8.5 and medium track 7.5 they're pretty cheap so you can just get a two of them and you'll be set. The one in my 4wd buggy runs super cool at 115 when I run a whole battery.
You should look up warehouse3 and hobbytownusa in phx mam so you can see what kind of tracks I'm using I'm just getting into racing I've alway been a basher so let's see how I do.
Manuel Chaparro www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__41184__Turnigy_Trackstar_120A_Turbo_Sensored_Brushless_1_12th_1_10th_ESC_USA_warehouse_.html?strSearch=Turnigy%20trackstar%20turbo
+Ethan Cataneo Funny! I asked if sensorless motors that do not have the sensor board inside the motor and not have an extra cable for the esc like sensored motors have are SAFE or RUN FINE on this ESC. The Hobbyking website says the Gen2 120A can run sensored and sensorless motors, but with china stuff we never know and marketing is always reversed like the engeniring! Not asking if a brushed motor works with them....
It keep blinking fast.. When I press the set button and turn on the switch. It doesn't turn to a solid light. It keeps blinking a lot.doesn't stop. I don't have the sensor cable. I don't know if I need it. Because I tried to calibrate it
I looked at one on eBay I didn't buy it because it said not compatible with digital servo which I have just bought. I'm scratching my head as to what to put in my 1/10 Vbc Wildfire D08 touring car . Use to have lots of nitro touring cars years ago I've come back and you need to buy this that and other and more I'm tired already. I just bought a team Orion clubman lipo charger and now I need to buy a 12v power supply to run it FFS it just doesn't end Grrrr 😥
holy cow - those tires are going to explode. I believe dead band is how much space at neutral the esc won't be in either forward or reverse (as in dead)... because not all transmitters are super accurate at where neutral is - the worse your transmitter the more deadband space you need. (I think)
I wish I had the money to buy a budget esc, have it take too long to deliver, then buy a top of the line esc to use for 2 weeks, then put the cheap esc in the car when it comes.
If you think thats having money then maybe it's time for you to get a better job. This is a expensive Hobby, I've spent thousands building my rc crawler. Just gotta live life bro, job search you'll find something better. Anyways thanks for watching.
Dude this video helped me a ton . i have now after watching your video , a "whole new " car . clocked 83kmh wtf .
Thanks dude do not delete this

I appreciate you positive feedback back. Yeah I love watching simple straight to the point videos, that's why I made this. Thanks for watching
I just installed a turnigy esc 120a. and a 10.5 t motor and got the program box. and I love it. thanks for the video brother very helpful
You're welcome bro glad the video helped you a little. A lot of people knock these before they try them, but they're are bad ass for the price. Thanks for watching.
Excellent instructions. It amazing that the company that sells this stuff does not provide such instruction.
Just got my Sakura D4 drifter ready and installed Trackstar 13.5T V2 on it with Trackstar 80A Turbo ESC, luckily I picked programming card as well.. so I'm going to try it out now :)
Thanks for that video, very helpful!
Awesome video man thx for taking the time with this esc. I now understand the esc settings and the program box settings.
You're welcome... Thanks for watching

Nice man...... Yeah I'm having the same problem with the 9.5 being a little much for my track. Gonna try a 13.5 and boost it. Thanks for watching
well thought out and well presented video. exactly how a review and and instructional video should be.
Great info. ...Appreciate you putting this out ! Just ordered ESC & Card...

thanks for the video, my reverse wasn't working and now is fixed!
Holy sh*t is it hard to find any instructions on Turnigy products.....glad I came across your video. it explains alot. thanks for posting.
just installed my turnigy esc/motor combo 80a esc/brushless 4000kv on my traxxas xl5 2wd stampede (see my channel for video)
it kicks Ass, out of the box.
but didn't know how to program throttle position since it didn't come with instructions
(i was sometimes missing reverse)
(i will try this out in the next few days and see if it helps)
thanks for the info on the programing box too
bro u made an awsome an simple to set up my ts 120 esc turbo video good work was worried id have a hard time with set up.
Nice man glad it helped you brotha. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video it was very helpful. Until i found this video i had on idea on how this all worked. Thanks again.
thanx alot dude thinking about getting the b5m with this esc. helped alot
I used turnigy trackstar 2300kv motor and 120A ESC in my traxxas t maxx and it works brilliant
I wanna thank you so much because I was lost and didn't believe that a electric car can run boost
Thanks great video, really helped me out.
Thanks for sharing. Great video. Helped me in getting mine setup. Subscribed.
Man always good to hear when my video helped someone out. That was my whole purpose of making this video. Thank you for watching.
neutral deadband is how much you have to pull the trigger before it does anything. lets you have a firm grip on the trigger without creeping forward.
nice just got it good vid! helps straight away for my team associated centro ct4.2. thanks.
Break frequensy in 11:48 maybe is something like ABS like some transmitters have ABS option for the nitro rc's i am not sure i just make a thought test it if you want to see. Thanks for the setup tips now running the same esc on my sakura d4
How has this Turnigy held up? Has it been durable?
Nice setup bro!! Tekin makes some great products
Can you just turn reverse off
+Kaleb Moore if it's a programmable esc you can
+Matt philipse so you can on this because there is a programmer box
Thanks for making this vid. Great info👍
Thanks for the video helped me find the reverse.
hero man! and thanks you just set up my Schumacher cougar!! ;)
Very helpful video, thanks for sharing!
Thx

Wait 4 seconds, man I jumped 5 times while you was waiting to reverse. Lol 😆
Thanks for the video. I have a similar 120A Trackstar ESC which Im trying to program and your video helped me understand a bit more.
Did you ever found out what were the unknown features were?
Glad I could help, no I never figured it out. I just change the things I know I need to change. Thanks for watching
I run the Trackstar in my Erevo... things a beast... oh btw... Turnigy is UK
Thanks for for the help much appreciated
Have you figured out what the diffrent boost and turbo timings do and or what the best setup for this esc is? I have the same thing except it it 80a. I love it. I'm running a redcat blackout with the trackstar turbo esc and 10.5t motor.
if you put the turbo and boost up all of the way you can backflip
Lol maybe I'll try it one of these days. I run no boost or turbo and it's still too much for the track I run. Thanks for watching
Does the ESC automatically cares that the lipo don’t come under 3.8 Volt? Or do you need the Programm Box?
Nice video man! Is that esc still lasting you? And how is it overtime?
The esc has held up. I don't race as much anymore, but I put a ton of battery packs through it when I was racing. Still recommend this to anyone looking for a budget esc. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video! Thanks!
I love Savox servos but that chatter is like fingernails on a chalkboard lol. cool video great info thanks!
Nice video. Great info.
Thanks for watching....

As far as esc goes I sold it with my buggy, but I didn't have any issues with it the entire time. Thanks for watching
How has the combination stood up since you made the video? Any recommendations or changes?
Yea man I just got this with a 6.5t motor and it's insane fast with 2s.
Nice video, explains a lot. just sad that you can't find anywhere an in depth explanation of all the program card features. You video makes it at least more clear on how to use those items. thx.
Gear mesh sound tight!!
Great video man! Are you still running this esc with your B5? Any issues?
I sold this buggy with the esc included. The guy that bought it still runs it and loves it. Pretty good deal for this esc it gets the job done.
Is that the only program card that works with that esc? How about the hobbywing program card?
Hey! Good video,
but what interests me I can with the ESC controller also a 4.5T or 5.5 Turn motor drive a car 1:10 or can it not for this ESC controller?
+Haekken This ESC WILL work for up to a 4.0 turn motor.
+Steve Kansa 5.5 limit
great video mate thanks
great info here. thank you!
Would you recommend this esc after getting some more time on it?
I would definitely recommend to anyone racing at just a regular club level as I do. I'm sure if you take it more serious as in trying to get sponsored and all that, more than likely you'll run a named brand esc. I still haven't had a issue with it besides not going into reverse consistently. As far as smoothness, power, and reliability goes. This is hands down a must buy esc. For the price I would say it wouldn't hurt just to try one out. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching.
Awesome Vid. Very helpfull. 😎
Very good information thank you
You're welcome and thanks for watching....
Awesome!!! Thanks for the bro bro.
Hello sir...i got my 44 all rebuilt and hooked up with that esc and the 5.5t TS motor as well....the esc will not go into program mode and the program box and the esc did not come with a wire to hook them up...where did you find the connector for yours?? Hello, thank you for watching. There is no additional wire needed. Just watch my video closely at the point were I connect wire to program box. Cheers for the tips bro!
do you have to have the sensor wire hooked up for the turbo/boost to work?
still running the turbo esc how's it held up..
You think the delay you took to program reverse, is how long it would take to go into reverse - as in a safety feature ?
Not sure, I just know sometimes it takes a while. Then I recalibrate and it's a lot quicker going into reverse. It has a option for it to go to instant reverse also. Thanks for watching
Hi there, How do you like your Sanwa MX-V? after a while, how is this Trackstar combo behaving?
Cheers
Hi thanks for watching... I like the mxv I used it for a while. Perfectly capable for a starter radio even just a budget radio. I upgraded to a mt4 only for the forth channel and a few fictions. Other than that the mt4 has a better feel to it and that's about it. I still have my mxv for backup just in case. Thanks again for watching.

How long does the battery last? what MAH do you run?
what is neutral deadband? drive frequency and break frequency? If you know cold you help me out.
what pinion gear?and spur?
That RS spec didn't have any power? I just bought one and haven't used it yet.
The esc is limited so you will not be able to run any motor with it. It's good for 17.5 racing, I wouldn't be able to run a 9.5 motor on it. So I guess it all depends on what you need it for.
The rs spec is blinky mode only. I use it in my touring car with the 17.5 motor and it's perfect. Thanks for watching
Man how did you set up the esc? I have the exact same one and it wont work
hi mate iv just ordered this box could ya just tell me with which wires do I connect it please
Unplug esc wire from receiver and plug it into the program box. Turn on esc power switch and program box will come on.
Start video at 7:10 and I show how to connect properly.
Awesome video
Thank you and of course thanks for watching.
I did The same exact step but it didn't work. It keeps blinking.. McCann I do it without the sensor port? Also, can I run it without the programming card? I have te turnigy 80 amp turbo to a reedy sonic 10.5t
Hey man thanks for watching. I haven't setup without the card so I don't know if you can without it. I don't know what you mean by the blinking issue?
is it normal sound for the servo¿
how do you turn on lipo cut on this esc
What turn should I get for a 2wd buggy? will 7.5 work?
Yeah it will work... It's all depends on your track size, just ask around and see what people run and go with that. I run 9.5, thanks for watching.
Thanks very much
hay bro thnks for the video, can u use this box on a 200 amp trackstar esc?i really need ur help
No I think it's specifically for the track star turbo esc. You can try, I can't say if it would work or not.
thnks for help..
Hey thanks for the vid I'm thinking about getting one for my b44.1 what motor size do you think I should get man.
Thanks for watching.... Depending on what size track you run on. I just posted a video of my hot bodies d413 4wd buggy running a trackstar motor 7.5t. Cool man thanks yeah the track is med size
You should look up warehouse3 and hobbytownusa in phx mam so you can see what kind of tracks I'm using I'm just getting into racing I've alway been a basher so let's see how I do.
Do you also have the part number for your esc if you don't mind I'm placing my order. Well trying too.

Nice video bro
Thanks bro
nice video! hows this combo holding up for you? i just picked up a new b4.1ft. thought this might be a nice setup for a light buggy.
Do you know if these ESC work with sensorless motor fine?
No you need a brushless esc for a brushless motor
+Ethan Cataneo Funny! I asked if sensorless motors that do not have the sensor board inside the motor and not have an extra cable for the esc like sensored motors have are SAFE or RUN FINE on this ESC. The Hobbyking website says the Gen2 120A can run sensored and sensorless motors, but with china stuff we never know and marketing is always reversed like the engeniring! Not asking if a brushed motor works with them....
Thx for help! :)
It keep blinking fast.. When I press the set button and turn on the switch. It doesn't turn to a solid light. It keeps blinking a lot.doesn't stop. I don't have the sensor cable. I don't know if I need it. Because I tried to calibrate it
You shouldn't need a sensor cable. I've never had that issue so I can't really help out.
You indeed need to have the sensor cable hooked up to program. It's a sensored esc only, and needs to see a motor to go into program mode.
(I think)
Nice man thanks for the info..... Thanks for watching
I'm looking a running similar setup
I wish I had the money to buy a budget esc, have it take too long to deliver, then buy a top of the line esc to use for 2 weeks, then put the cheap esc in the car when it comes.
If you think thats having money then maybe it's time for you to get a better job. This is a expensive Hobby, I've spent thousands building my rc crawler. Just gotta live life bro, job search you'll find something better. Anyways thanks for watching.
