Shorekeeper's early drip marketing is not really a mess up. It's a pretty normal move and only players that are obsessed with the revenue of single patch.(I'll never get how fixated people are on the monthly revenue deal and use it as a game dick measuring contest but that's another subject) Most gachas know 80% of their players are either meta slaves and/or mommy enjoyers. However they also know they gotta cater to the remaining 20% that love more niche character archetypes, husbandos etc. The goal here is to keep a diverse playerbase and simply design different types of characters. That way the 80% don't feel alienated by feeling they gotta pull for every char, while the 20% can enjoy the "filler" patch and while the 80% can save for characters that are more up their alley ! As for Shorekeeper's kit...People are also overreacting. She looks broken, for a very very simple reason. The only comparison we have is Verina, a STANDARD *5. Ofc she is going to be better than Verina. Remember the amount of hype Luocha generated in HSR back then, because the only other competent healers we had were Nat and Bailu ? Well, same deal. We'll have to wait for another limited *5 support to see if Shorekeeper is just broken or if she is merely setting the benchmark for what a limited 5 stars healer does. And ofc it's way too early to even tell since we're one week into 1.2, so her kit is far from confirmed, yet alone finalized.
Those revenue number slaves are taking it too much lol. Most whales or even low spenders (like myself) don't give a damn about monthly revenue because they'll suppport the game regardless because they find something in it that's worth investing. To be fair it's the beginning of wuwa so they should be having banger patches since it's still a new game but they already are having a filler patch and I always see people calling out genshin hsr for there filler patches?

We became too much of an 'gacha analyst' that even the revenue has become a source of concern when all we should be focusing about is if the game has enough content for us, or if the game is making us happy or not. Like, dude. Whether the game do well or not should be the concern of the developers. We are just the consumers. You enjoy the game and want to support it? Then play the game. Spend a little if you have the money. But like, revenue chart shouldn't matter to us. We do not have any shares in the company to act like we invested something in the game 😂 The money you will put in the game is not an investment, it's an expenditure.
Didn't know it's the player's job to be business analysts.😂😂 As far as I am concerned the devs are listening and generous. They are making me happy and contented. I spend in return. If most of us are not happy with the game's progress, that's a sign of concern but so far they are delivering well.

Lack of a healer + support character boosted shorekeeper's popularity even before 1.2 started. But 1.2 is absolutely crazy for a filler patch, they did a very good job with 1.2 but that early drip took away some 1.2 hype for sure.
Yeah, I'm not hyped but grateful for the patch, I get the best sub-dps for jihnsi and I get a goddam good dps to pair with my yinlin so that the only thing left is a support for the first team, hype is given to 1.3
Yeah, tbh I wouldn't have pulled for her either else. As I refuse to play loli characters (yeah, I'm looking at you, Verina!) I only have one good support healer. Gonna need one more healer for the last part of the tower but, getting three full good teams is gonna take a long time anyway. I'm sure one will show up when I need it. Just got one team built! Gonna build another and shorekeeper there, and then additionally another. 6 months more at least! Zezshi looking like a genshin character? I mean if you want some Genshin feels? Sure, but I don't. Xiangli Yao we get for free, not much reason's to pull.

I really don’t understand why people overlook this patch so much. Personally, I find it very fun and appreciate how much time you can spend with different characters. I don’t think it’s right to cross out a whole patch completely just because a new exciting character is coming in the next one, you still have to play the game to save up for them so might as well enjoy the new stuff hah

I think they hit a wall, where people feel they are just playing Genshin again. Login for 10-15 minutes and done. Characters starting to look like Genshin. Also, to be fair. They are generous comapred to Genshin and general gacha's. I wouldn't say they are generous compared to Snowbreak. Where you can get just about every new character as F2P. I don't even think you need the subs. But ofc, the game isn't for everyone.

Gonna start pre-farming Shorekeeper and I will need one more dps, and my second team will be done but that's also a month away? Then I need a third team.. Going to take at least 5-6 months. Hope we get another support during that time that isn't a loli. This game is so slow with experience content. How do people dare level 4 stars, I don't get it. Whales? I can barely keep my main team up to speed.
I think at the end of the day, people are gonna pull for whoever they want regardless. Most of us still don't know what we're looking for in the characters yet so I don't think we're pulling on every banner unless you're about to whale. I would've skipped this patch anyway cause I went all out on Changli's banner, and even tho Zhezhi is a really cute character I'm looking for someone to give Verina a break. They did the same mistake as Honkai Star Rail did this version. They announced a Acheron (godlike) like new unit named Feixiao with just 2 low interest units on the current version. Guess what, this will easily be their worse profit version of the year cause ppl are now saving for Feixiao and skipping both.
I dont think it impacted that much, most people werent gonna pull this version anyways, and the leaks wouldve been there too regardless if they drip marketed feixiao later, people wouldve seen how op she was regardless
Yunli and Jiaoqui are not that good to actually force yourself to pull for unlike acheron and feixiao so drip market for feixiao and leaks did not significantly affect the current patch. Im not pulling for feixiao and not pulling for jiaoqui and yunli. Yunli is basically a second clara and jiaoqui just bad. It's like a better pela but not that big of a gap. I liked the beta skillset where he could also heal but they removed those. Dmg amp and ult amp with dot is not a need for me
High key I agree Shorekeeper is amazing power creep is not bad all units good besides Cal but they did kill they hype a little for sure with her reveal
I don't like powercreep but it was to be expected that standard units were gonna get crept along the way, no? Shorekeeper existing will allow you to have 2 fantastic healer/buffers for TOA and you can use Baizhi and/or Jianxin for the lower levels. Let's be real, they spiked Scar up in difficulty but realized most players don't have that level of investment to defeat him easily so they went with the "oh, we messed up with the balance" excuse. So it makes sense that we are getting stronger units because... just like HSR, endgame will get harder and harder. I will say though that people skipping Zhezhi will probably end up regretting their choice because she is SOOOOO good. Yes, shes's great with Jinhsi of course, but my personal fav combo has been with Changli. My S2 Changli is hitting 400k damage combos (Forte, Liberation, Forte) with Zhezhi in the team.
Id never thought that I would pull on Zhezhi's banner, but after her side quest, without even starting her companion story yet... I spent 60 pulls on her, fuckin worth it😂
How funny when people think this is a mistake but not a strategy. Like they think everyone will be able to pay for anything. Saving for 1 patch is not 100% for a 5* or both char + weap. And the closer they reach to pity, the more "eager" they feel to actually have it... and they'll pay (rather than just waiting for the next char and have it for free). Similar to the sig weapon: "oh, I just get a super meta unit, how about make it perfect..." bla bla, it's a chain of "getting people to pay". BTW, I'm not saying Kuro manipulates us, it's just a normal thing, they're already too generous.
If we get early reruns starting 1.3, its fine. It let's people who have them save up and for people wanting them chance to get them. Starting reruns early also slows down the powercreep, by not needing to make 2 best characters each patch. 1.2 being slow patch is a blessing atm. Launch to the end of 1.1 was character building speedrun and some characters I still don't have built. Jinhsi is the most boring dps to play, but the most powerful which makes me not want to use her. Jinhsi imo is a bit too far ahead of Jiyan and Changli. Her being best dps is fine, but her being ahead by this much literally warped people's view.
Zhezhi was essentially a must pull for anyone who has Jinhsi...the only concern I had was how her intro skill was going to behave on live as the original translation was a little scuffed. In terms of Xiangli Yao, I think it's nice that he's getting the Dr. Ratio treatment. As for Shorekeeper, she's gorgeous, I'm saving, but I do have a question as to WHY I am saving at this point...what am I saving for? I don't really care about TOA, my Jinhsi is only S1R1 and hits hard enough to nearly two shot Hologram bosses...and she clears middle tower easily (except right now because Scar has a weird 50% damage reduction bug 239K on scar 451K on Mech, not just with my account). It's a great time to be a gacha game player though, we have so many games to play. PS. Jinhsi is hands down my favorite character to play, and she kills mobs and even bosses before I drop her enhanced E. I rarely even get to drop my enhanced E outside of TOA or holograms. Jinhsi hits hard even outside her enhanced E.

Thing about support characters right now is.... are they really needed? like i saw a tower clear today of left side danjin solo complete, right side chixia solo complete. Middle changli verina complete.... Thats like 5 lvl 90s and you can clear the whole content in the game. Unless they upp the difficulty there is no meta reason for shorekeeper. People should really try first and foremost to get a DD in every element since Bosses like scar right now punishes people for having jinshi and danjin or havoc rover and the tower bonus seem to get more important to have the right element. fights are too short and unless your rotation to a support gets you more damage its not needed since, a swap to heal is usually not needed or if its needed already a big dps loss. for the two middle fights you have already verina though so yes maybe shorekeeper is a powercreep but you definitly do not need 3 supports as most people thought in the beginning. you will however need variety in your dps since bosses like scar are just not doable if all your dps right now are spectro or havoc
Haven't done the story content of 1.2 yet but I think Wuthering Waves is a very fun and beautiful gacha in week day when I work I can do my fast daily/energy spending and then do some of the more long content in the weekend. If people want a great game with the quality that they a shown us so far of course time is needed. The problem with internet is that complaining people are very vocal but people who just enjoy the game well ... they just enjoy the game haha
I don't see a problem here. I think the problem is f2p players wants all limited characters when they can't ( im also f2p). I'm waiting for Shorekeeper since she has the most value out of the 1.2 characters. I'm also trying to get Xiangli Yao's weapon with 30 pulls to guarantee my pulls would be enough for Shorekeeper
I think if they give Cal a little more utility as a buff, that would really look good for Kuro. That would offset the fear of powercreep this early, and allow him to be possibly used with the new free unit. I wouldn't care if Cal was introduced in the story... but he wasn't. So it feels kinda bad that he is already getting power crept lol. Especially when he is one of the coolest looking characters.
I don't see shorekeeper as a powercreeper? But I don't have (any loli's such as) Verina. Still if one has Verina and Baizhi, they can still get her? Optimal to have three support healers for the whale tower? But powercreeping will likely be a thing, or so I've heard. They did so in their other game. They copied so much from Genshin and I hope they can copy that part too. Sure some chars are better in Genshin but just about all chars are good, and powercreeping isn't that big. Except for yeah.. Some chars. Which are truly only needed in abyss etc.
Dude, I don't get the powercreep? like I have both Jinhsi and Jiyan but honestly they feel the same. The comparisons made seems pretty iffy too since, from past experience, these numbers are usually calculated with a perfect rotation without any outside influences like being interrupted or dodging.
nothing is gonna be equal. even if wuwa decided to put out shorekeeper early, it grasps the attention yes but people who truly want their characters will still pull for their 1.2 ones. i think company's like wuwa often come together and talk about the decision of when to put out certain announcements, so i dont think this was by mistake.
I found this video right as I was talking to a friend. To me xiangliyao made me mad. They nerfed calcharo too much and then he has yet to appear in story and the scenes he was in were cut from the beta, or I have not seen it in game. And then they give us a character for free that is calcharo but better and he looks kinda like lee from pgr. Personally, I think they know they screwed calcharo up and they are giving us a better version for free rather than fixing the issue, and hoping no one notices.
I think they already expect lower revenue from this patch especially with a free 5 star. Zhezhi design isn’t anywhere near as crazy as changli and jinhsi, so basically won’t attract anything much. Also need to remember that the number of player that watches leaks are pretty small too.
Shorekeeper is definetely not a mistake. first of all we just got DPS Characters so far Jiyan Main DPS, Yinlin sub DPS, Jinhsi Main DPS, Changli/ Hybrid DPS, Zhezhi sub DPS, Xiangli yao Main DPS, so I would say it makes sense that we get another support in some way and we haven't had a limited 5* support yet, and Shorekeeper would be the first support with a signature weapon as well and if she does the same like Baizhi and Verina, her weapon should be best in slot for all 3 then maybe. Supports are not needed in every team when you do ToA for example but a lot of casual players think they need a 3rd healer to get a 3rd Team ready and I think Kuro knows this. Just from this perspective alone many people would pull for her regardless of how strong she would be. Honestly I don't know when genshin got his limited 5* support/Healer but would be interesting to know. And yes this patch looks like a filler patch but the Game is still new and Kuro is working a lot on Performance issues and quality of life changes still and once they got the hang of it I hope that they will focus more on new content.
I think the core issue of WuWa currently, is the lack of foresight Zhezhi and Xiangliao were nobodies before 1.2 hit us Shorekeeper and Youhu same, nobodies until 1.3 hits us Who's gonna be in 1.4 ? Nobody has any idea because we already ran out of characters except for the evil bad guys Even worst than that, some playable characters don't even exist in the game's story yet (like Danjin or Calcharo). So that's why WuWa is getting more criticism imo : we got a new free 5star and that's cool. But we can't see how the game will expend passed 1.2 so it's hard to get excited for the future. That's at least something Genshin did right : the travail trailer, teasing each of the upcoming nations for years to come and at the end of each region, we get a teaser for the next one But in WuWa it's dead silent about the future (probably because even the devs aren't too sure of what to do next)

To be fair now, they have copied the whole market, store, prices, currencies, and a lot of other things. Like my brother is a Zelda: Botw fan, and when I showed him Genshin a couple of years back, he got a little pissed off and wondered if it was even legal? I can see people having the same feels for wuwa. Although, Kuro is competition and it's making Genshin better as well, hey, first free 5 star character in Genshin, ever! After 4 years! Thanks to Kuro! Anyway, they realy did copy a lot of Genshin and I can see fans being a bit upset about it.
The only thing I want for Kuro to change is the banner duration the patch length. I wish they make it a tad bit shorter, that's all. They are doing great for how big the company is. 😁💯👌✌🤘
Having seen the leaks of shorekeeper, I think she is a huge problem if her kit stays the same. Shorekeeper seems to be a generational character. She is way ahead of her time in terms of features. For people familiar with genshin, its like they just released furina, but its only the start of the game. Genshin has a lot of niches to fill supports with but Wuwa just has elements for the sake of having resistances and locking out certain characters. On top of that, the supports already in the game are universal.Baizhi and Verina can be used in any team without fail. They provide buffs that can work on any dps,the buffs have long durations and dont go away upon switching.For shorekeeper to compete with them, she would have to be able to offer these same things and more(just because she is limited). Shorekeeper does indeed offer more, but that lies the issue.How are future supports going to compete ? Shorekeepers concerto gen is the only thing that will determine if she is just T0 or literally game breaking. She does not offer room for other supports unless they make them have weird gimmicks. I dont see how supports after Shorekeeper can exist without powercreeping her or verina. ToA only needs 2 supports anyone telling you that you need 3 is lying to you. Hence, I believe we won't see another limit support for a while and will have a string of dps and sub dps characters for the coming future.
I don't see why it's not possible to release characters with similar kits, it's not like everyone will have access to Shorekeeper. Some people might also not like her design and would rather wait for another support that they like.
@RanRan_11 This how how I think they will end up adding supports. 1. You aren't wrong in saying they can have similar kits, baizhi and verina practically do the same thing, but verina is just excutes it infinitely faster. Wuwa could just make a support who does the same thing but has a different style of executing it. 2. They make a dps with an issue and release a character that fixes said issue. It's a more disingenuous approach but could happen. 3. They powercreep shorekeeper by releasing element specific supports where shorekeeper will be the default if they don't have said support. The sub dps we have so far seem to fill the role of enhancing skill dmg(basic,heavy res skills, res lib) and elemental dmg. So I don't think they will release healer support that will do that. I just want to see more unique stuff from supports. Maybe a debuff route could be interesting. But idk how you do it without breaking the game. After shorekeeper, I think they will definitely be thinking about the direction of healer supports in their game because after her release, people will only ever need her and verina. Hence why I said they will probably just be releasing a bunch of dps and sub dps characters for a while.
Hoyo is doing everything to suppress it's worst competitor. As an ex-genshin player, this game is waves ahead genshin. Genshin is a huge pain in it's current state. I even tried ZZZ. Played it for few hours and threw it out of the window.
@@GambaAJ I know it's not Shorekeeper that killed the hype, it's the need of a support, and they nailed it if these leaks are anything to go by. I was saving for Zhezhi but they released her in phase 1, and i don't want to run her without her weapon.
Shorekeeper was shown TOO EARLY. I believe they shouldn't reveal the 2nd character until Zhezhi's banner is removed. I get it, it's a slow patch. People are desperate for excitement and that's probably why they chose to drip market Shorekeeper as early as they did. But I agree with their decision to just be patient. Let people be hyped for the free Xiangli Yao and the Shorekeeper in the next patch. The devs need to be patient and wait. 😅 As for WuWa's negativity as of late.... It's only because Genshin got their first 5 star selector, Da Wei cried, and Natlan is generating hype. It is literally just the Hoyo fans acting up because they're hoping Natlan pops off. No matter what WuWa did, the Genshin addicts and Hoyo enthusiasts would hate on WuWa. There's nothing Kuro Games can do about it, besides keep their heads down and keep cooking. The dish they serve will speak for itself. And yes, powercreep is bad. Honkai Star Rail's is far too toxic (imo) and for an F2P it's just not worth it. So I quit the game. There are so many new games coming out anyway. 😅
So far wuwa has been amazing. Hard to return to Genshin every day, just to do the daylies. The only reason I'm still playing genshin is my c6 r1 Arlecchino. But I don't think there's going to be any actual interest for me until Snezhnaya
Lol, I didn’t need drip marketing to know that I was going to skip 1.2 in its entirety. And the free character is contributed to the fact that his sales were going to be horrendous. Let’s not forget the low end sales of Changli, and she was an amazing character. P.S. if a newly released game can’t drip market the next patch due to potential failed sales, then you need to reevaluate your perception of your audience’s desires.
I'm not sure why WuWa is getting so much criticism, it be for a multiple of reasons, but they can do that if they wish. I'm bias because when I saw Zhezhi, I was so excited for her, than Xiangli Yao grow so much on me during the Moon festival, so I'm planning on pulling his weapon so I can have a good 5* gauntlet. I'm enjoying my 1.2 patch so far and I can't wait to see more (while saving up for Shorekeeper). I believe that in terms of Shore Keeper reveal, it could be seen both as bad and good. People can pick if they wanted Zhezhi, and with the free Xiangli Yao, they would get a limited 5 star this patch go around anyways. Of course, some people are hopping onto Shorekeeper without looking at the current patch, which is sad because I really have been enjoying the moon festival and events we have so far for 1.2. I view the rerun as a hopeful sign that unlike in some games, we will hopefully not need to wait a year plus to wait for that character's rerun. But things can change, and I am just really enjoying my Changli, Zhezhi and Verina right now. I am hoping that Shorekeeper will be fun too, and I'm excited because I didn't really care for Calcharo, so I will have a electro dps to pair up with my Yinlin with Xiangli Yao. I just hope everyone enjoy their time with the game and I wish you all luck with your pulls \o/
For Shorekeeper I think it nice to have another healer because when it comes to Tower of Adversity you will need at least 2 healers and as far I know by posting content about Wuwa ppl under my comment don't really use the 4 stars healer. I think she won't fully power creep Verina but the next good healer that can be put into the team. I see ppl making jokes about how there are only 2 slots in your team because the last slot will just always be Verina. Shorekeeper will be a good upcoming character but I do agree with how they marketing her so soon and losing the hype of this current banner

I do think they should have waited for the middle of Zhezhi''s banner to do Shorekeeper drip marketing. It hurt both sales for Zhezhi and Shorekeeper imo, at least on the light spender side of players. That said, I think they understood that the designs for 1.2 characters aren't very popular, so they did her drip earlier to let people know that there's still something to look forward to. As for the drama surrounding WuWa criticism vs Hoyo games, I think it very much has to do with how both communities are. WuWa players are much more welcome to cricitism in their game, but combined with the fact that hoyo players get triggered by criticism, it seems that only WuWa gets criticized a lot. HSR has had powercreep after powercreep since release, yet the few times people made videos on it, they got a lot of hate from it. Generally the critical videos on their games get too much backlash, so people don't do it much.
Imagine your rival is a big company that dominated the market in certain game genre, You have to do anything you can to keep your project alive, im pretty sure Kuro CEO said something similar. The reason why Hoyo is big (I do hate to say this actually) Is because they released Genshin at the perfect time when people desperately need something new, Something fresh, And so it carries over to the next game they released. But sadly, The community itself have the biggest problem amongst all Gacha game community, and because of the company getting more bigger they released more games, it became Worse. As for Kuro, The company still lack of experience because they only have 2 games active out of 3 games, And only one that's globally released, The problem with Kuro is that they are not making/maintaining more simple game long enough before they jumped into a game that more difficult to handle, And the only thing that makes kuro is Kuro is PGR and Wuthering waves, the game, the art, the music, the SFX and the mechanic. While Hoyo have that 5 with an extra The storyline especially Honkai Series that start More than a decade already, Genshin might be the reason why Hoyo become big but what makes hoyo is Hoyo is that Honkai series (although i cant see Hoyo the same again after Genshin). Destroying the hype is much easier than keeping it, I hope Kuro did not make the same mistake again in the future.
Did Kuro release the Leaks? if they themselves are the one leaking characters then it's thier fault for the fall of patch 1.2 hype. But if Kuro did not release any leaks about the upcoming characters then blame the people who constantly post a video about WuWa character leaks.
I kind of think all leaks are intentional. Like they put it out there for data miners or hackers to get it. I bet GTA 6 and all their leaks they had the same password for the hackers, and a folder named "Hackers Content Here". It's a safe way of releasing info without committing to it.

If they didn't show Shorekeeper, people might have pulled for Zhezhi cause of her being an investment to other units in the future... And probably a lot will regret it after they saw Shorekeeper... So basically, what they did is a bad business move for kuro for sure, but a great advantage to players... It's a double edge sword😭
very true but my counter point to this is if its a re run with shore the Re run should be 1st so that f2p and light spenders will still have enough to summon on shorekeeper but I do agree with you
I don't think it's that bad. Whales will still whale even if they know every upcoming character, most people that would skip a character for another character are either f2p or monthly/low spenders.
Why are people complaining about filler patches? All of the open world gacha games have those no exceptions. It's impossible to make a main story per patch and expect the story telling to be very good. Assuming every patch is every month, the pacing will be too fast with little understanding of the characters backstory or to give more information to the story. Filler patches are like side stories where they are not impactful to the main story but relevent to understand the context.
Shorekeeper won't be best in slot with Jinhsi cuz she's Spectro. Jinhsi wants different ones, so a future support that buffs skill will be BiS for Jinhsi
I don't understand the problem with Shorekeeper being announced early. People always complain that gacha games don't drip market their future characters in order to not let players prepare and save their pulls. Kuro let you know early that this awesome character is coming and you have time to build your astrites. If anything the Shorekeeper announcement made me more excited to play 1.2 and the events and farm and prepare for her.
Definitely i feel like they should have revealed her at least 3 days after zhezhi banner and it killed 1.2 revenue aside from that kuro marketing team really needs to get better as soon as possible because rn its so bad

Yea its such a dumb thing how much these mainstream gacha players attack each other's games. (I say mainstream cause this only ever comes from the big 4 games, you never hear anything from more niche communities like dbz dokken, fgo, Nikke, ect...) Like, you can juggle multiple game guys. These aren't mmos and don't require hours of full attention each week. I'm kinda glad WuWa is in a filler patch tbh. We got so many free characters on launch and 1.1 characters were amazing so having a bit of time to play catch up and get them built is fine by me.

I mean, after Xiangli yao copies and weapon, I am saving For Scar, Ge shu lin and Phlorova. And might buy lunite subscription again. So I don't see the problem. Shorekeepers kit and design is good, but I always pull for characters I like more, so for me she is an easy skip.
I hate that a banner lasts for 24 days so 48 days per patch It's too long it was good somewhere around 30 days max 35 to swing the patch before or after genshin zzz.... and instead of 5 radiant tide, put another 5 for a total of 10 to compensate for the daily missions lost but it will probably never happen :))))
It sucks but they need to do it because of story/content reasons. Imagine 1.0 only had Jiyan, which means 1.1 would be only Yinlin. The pacing would suck because now it's either just have Yinlin's companion quest in 1.1 or also include Mt.Firmament/Jinhsi's story without Jinhsi banner.

Shorekeeper's early drip marketing is not really a mess up. It's a pretty normal move and only players that are obsessed with the revenue of single patch.(I'll never get how fixated people are on the monthly revenue deal and use it as a game dick measuring contest but that's another subject)
Most gachas know 80% of their players are either meta slaves and/or mommy enjoyers. However they also know they gotta cater to the remaining 20% that love more niche character archetypes, husbandos etc. The goal here is to keep a diverse playerbase and simply design different types of characters. That way the 80% don't feel alienated by feeling they gotta pull for every char, while the 20% can enjoy the "filler" patch and while the 80% can save for characters that are more up their alley !
As for Shorekeeper's kit...People are also overreacting. She looks broken, for a very very simple reason. The only comparison we have is Verina, a STANDARD *5. Ofc she is going to be better than Verina. Remember the amount of hype Luocha generated in HSR back then, because the only other competent healers we had were Nat and Bailu ? Well, same deal. We'll have to wait for another limited *5 support to see if Shorekeeper is just broken or if she is merely setting the benchmark for what a limited 5 stars healer does. And ofc it's way too early to even tell since we're one week into 1.2, so her kit is far from confirmed, yet alone finalized.

Lack of a healer + support character boosted shorekeeper's popularity even before 1.2 started. But 1.2 is absolutely crazy for a filler patch, they did a very good job with 1.2 but that early drip took away some 1.2 hype for sure.

I really don’t understand why people overlook this patch so much. Personally, I find it very fun and appreciate how much time you can spend with different characters. I don’t think it’s right to cross out a whole patch completely just because a new exciting character is coming in the next one, you still have to play the game to save up for them so might as well enjoy the new stuff hah

I think they hit a wall, where people feel they are just playing Genshin again. Login for 10-15 minutes and done. Characters starting to look like Genshin. Also, to be fair. They are generous comapred to Genshin and general gacha's. I wouldn't say they are generous compared to Snowbreak. Where you can get just about every new character as F2P. I don't even think you need the subs. But ofc, the game isn't for everyone.

It's actually really nice for those who have real life and need some time to catch up. Not everyone 100% map the day it's out.
They did the same mistake as Honkai Star Rail did this version. They announced a Acheron (godlike) like new unit named Feixiao with just 2 low interest units on the current version. Guess what, this will easily be their worse profit version of the year cause ppl are now saving for Feixiao and skipping both.

Yunli and Jiaoqui are not that good to actually force yourself to pull for unlike acheron and feixiao so drip market for feixiao and leaks did not significantly affect the current patch. Im not pulling for feixiao and not pulling for jiaoqui and yunli. Yunli is basically a second clara and jiaoqui just bad. It's like a better pela but not that big of a gap. I liked the beta skillset where he could also heal but they removed those. Dmg amp and ult amp with dot is not a need for me

Shorekeeper existing will allow you to have 2 fantastic healer/buffers for TOA and you can use Baizhi and/or Jianxin for the lower levels. Let's be real, they spiked Scar up in difficulty but realized most players don't have that level of investment to defeat him easily so they went with the "oh, we messed up with the balance" excuse. So it makes sense that we are getting stronger units because... just like HSR, endgame will get harder and harder.
I will say though that people skipping Zhezhi will probably end up regretting their choice because she is SOOOOO good. Yes, shes's great with Jinhsi of course, but my personal fav combo has been with Changli. My S2 Changli is hitting 400k damage combos (Forte, Liberation, Forte) with Zhezhi in the team.
Id never thought that I would pull on Zhezhi's banner, but after her side quest, without even starting her companion story yet...
I spent 60 pulls on her, fuckin worth it😂
I feel like ppl, just like i did, still pulled for Zhezhi either for the design or the amazing Disney trailer

How funny when people think this is a mistake but not a strategy. Like they think everyone will be able to pay for anything. Saving for 1 patch is not 100% for a 5* or both char + weap. And the closer they reach to pity, the more "eager" they feel to actually have it... and they'll pay (rather than just waiting for the next char and have it for free). Similar to the sig weapon: "oh, I just get a super meta unit, how about make it perfect..." bla bla, it's a chain of "getting people to pay". BTW, I'm not saying Kuro manipulates us, it's just a normal thing, they're already too generous.

It let's people who have them save up and for people wanting them chance to get them.
Starting reruns early also slows down the powercreep, by not needing to make 2 best characters each patch.
1.2 being slow patch is a blessing atm. Launch to the end of 1.1 was character building speedrun and some characters I still don't have built.
Jinhsi is the most boring dps to play, but the most powerful which makes me not want to use her. Jinhsi imo is a bit too far ahead of Jiyan and Changli. Her being best dps is fine, but her being ahead by this much literally warped people's view.
Zhezhi was essentially a must pull for anyone who has Jinhsi...the only concern I had was how her intro skill was going to behave on live as the original translation was a little scuffed.
In terms of Xiangli Yao, I think it's nice that he's getting the Dr. Ratio treatment.
As for Shorekeeper, she's gorgeous, I'm saving, but I do have a question as to WHY I am saving at this point...what am I saving for? I don't really care about TOA, my Jinhsi is only S1R1 and hits hard enough to nearly two shot Hologram bosses...and she clears middle tower easily (except right now because Scar has a weird 50% damage reduction bug 239K on scar 451K on Mech, not just with my account).
It's a great time to be a gacha game player though, we have so many games to play.
PS. Jinhsi is hands down my favorite character to play, and she kills mobs and even bosses before I drop her enhanced E. I rarely even get to drop my enhanced E outside of TOA or holograms. Jinhsi hits hard even outside her enhanced E.

Rerun characters are not usually shown alongside the drip marketing in genshin impact they show them in the Livestream which comes after the beta test
Thing about support characters right now is.... are they really needed? like i saw a tower clear today of left side danjin solo complete, right side chixia solo complete. Middle changli verina complete.... Thats like 5 lvl 90s and you can clear the whole content in the game. Unless they upp the difficulty there is no meta reason for shorekeeper. People should really try first and foremost to get a DD in every element since Bosses like scar right now punishes people for having jinshi and danjin or havoc rover and the tower bonus seem to get more important to have the right element. fights are too short and unless your rotation to a support gets you more damage its not needed since, a swap to heal is usually not needed or if its needed already a big dps loss. for the two middle fights you have already verina though so yes maybe shorekeeper is a powercreep but you definitly do not need 3 supports as most people thought in the beginning. you will however need variety in your dps since bosses like scar are just not doable if all your dps right now are spectro or havoc
Haven't done the story content of 1.2 yet but I think Wuthering Waves is a very fun and beautiful gacha in week day when I work I can do my fast daily/energy spending and then do some of the more long content in the weekend. If people want a great game with the quality that they a shown us so far of course time is needed. The problem with internet is that complaining people are very vocal but people who just enjoy the game well ... they just enjoy the game haha

I think if they give Cal a little more utility as a buff, that would really look good for Kuro. That would offset the fear of powercreep this early, and allow him to be possibly used with the new free unit. I wouldn't care if Cal was introduced in the story... but he wasn't. So it feels kinda bad that he is already getting power crept lol. Especially when he is one of the coolest looking characters.

But powercreeping will likely be a thing, or so I've heard. They did so in their other game. They copied so much from Genshin and I hope they can copy that part too. Sure some chars are better in Genshin but just about all chars are good, and powercreeping isn't that big. Except for yeah.. Some chars. Which are truly only needed in abyss etc.
Dude, I don't get the powercreep? like I have both Jinhsi and Jiyan but honestly they feel the same. The comparisons made seems pretty iffy too since, from past experience, these numbers are usually calculated with a perfect rotation without any outside influences like being interrupted or dodging.

nothing is gonna be equal. even if wuwa decided to put out shorekeeper early, it grasps the attention yes but people who truly want their characters will still pull for their 1.2 ones. i think company's like wuwa often come together and talk about the decision of when to put out certain announcements, so i dont think this was by mistake.
I found this video right as I was talking to a friend. To me xiangliyao made me mad. They nerfed calcharo too much and then he has yet to appear in story and the scenes he was in were cut from the beta, or I have not seen it in game. And then they give us a character for free that is calcharo but better and he looks kinda like lee from pgr. Personally, I think they know they screwed calcharo up and they are giving us a better version for free rather than fixing the issue, and hoping no one notices.

Zhezhi design isn’t anywhere near as crazy as changli and jinhsi, so basically won’t attract anything much.
Also need to remember that the number of player that watches leaks are pretty small too.

Shorekeeper is definetely not a mistake. first of all we just got DPS Characters so far Jiyan Main DPS, Yinlin sub DPS, Jinhsi Main DPS, Changli/ Hybrid DPS, Zhezhi sub DPS, Xiangli yao Main DPS, so I would say it makes sense that we get another support in some way and we haven't had a limited 5* support yet, and Shorekeeper would be the first support with a signature weapon as well and if she does the same like Baizhi and Verina, her weapon should be best in slot for all 3 then maybe.
Supports are not needed in every team when you do ToA for example but a lot of casual players think they need a 3rd healer to get a 3rd Team ready and I think Kuro knows this. Just from this perspective alone many people would pull for her regardless of how strong she would be. Honestly I don't know when genshin got his limited 5* support/Healer but would be interesting to know.
And yes this patch looks like a filler patch but the Game is still new and Kuro is working a lot on Performance issues and quality of life changes still and once they got the hang of it I hope that they will focus more on new content.

I think the core issue of WuWa currently, is the lack of foresight
Zhezhi and Xiangliao were nobodies before 1.2 hit us
Shorekeeper and Youhu same, nobodies until 1.3 hits us
Who's gonna be in 1.4 ? Nobody has any idea because we already ran out of characters except for the evil bad guys
Even worst than that, some playable characters don't even exist in the game's story yet (like Danjin or Calcharo).
So that's why WuWa is getting more criticism imo : we got a new free 5star and that's cool. But we can't see how the game will expend passed 1.2 so it's hard to get excited for the future.
That's at least something Genshin did right : the travail trailer, teasing each of the upcoming nations for years to come and at the end of each region, we get a teaser for the next one
But in WuWa it's dead silent about the future (probably because even the devs aren't too sure of what to do next)
Maybe people like to get sh*t on by devs similar to genshin impact, but when some games are actually trying something hater be hating because they are head deep into Genshin Impact

To be fair now, they have copied the whole market, store, prices, currencies, and a lot of other things. Like my brother is a Zelda: Botw fan, and when I showed him Genshin a couple of years back, he got a little pissed off and wondered if it was even legal? I can see people having the same feels for wuwa.

Having seen the leaks of shorekeeper, I think she is a huge problem if her kit stays the same.
Shorekeeper seems to be a generational character. She is way ahead of her time in terms of features. For people familiar with genshin, its like they just released furina, but its only the start of the game.
Genshin has a lot of niches to fill supports with but Wuwa just has elements for the sake of having resistances and locking out certain characters.
On top of that, the supports already in the game are universal.Baizhi and Verina can be used in any team without fail. They provide buffs that can work on any dps,the buffs have long durations and dont go away upon switching.For shorekeeper to compete with them, she would have to be able to offer these same things and more(just because she is limited).
Shorekeeper does indeed offer more, but that lies the issue.How are future supports going to compete ? Shorekeepers concerto gen is the only thing that will determine if she is just T0 or literally game breaking.
She does not offer room for other supports unless they make them have weird gimmicks. I dont see how supports after Shorekeeper can exist without powercreeping her or verina.
ToA only needs 2 supports anyone telling you that you need 3 is lying to you. Hence, I believe we won't see another limit support for a while and will have a string of dps and sub dps characters for the coming future.
I don't see why it's not possible to release characters with similar kits, it's not like everyone will have access to Shorekeeper. Some people might also not like her design and would rather wait for another support that they like.

This how how I think they will end up adding supports.
1. You aren't wrong in saying they can have similar kits, baizhi and verina practically do the same thing, but verina is just excutes it infinitely faster.
Wuwa could just make a support who does the same thing but has a different style of executing it.
2. They make a dps with an issue and release a character that fixes said issue.
It's a more disingenuous approach but could happen.
3. They powercreep shorekeeper by releasing element specific supports where shorekeeper will be the default if they don't have said support.
The sub dps we have so far seem to fill the role of enhancing skill dmg(basic,heavy res skills, res lib) and elemental dmg. So I don't think they will release healer support that will do that.
I just want to see more unique stuff from supports. Maybe a debuff route could be interesting. But idk how you do it without breaking the game.
After shorekeeper, I think they will definitely be thinking about the direction of healer supports in their game because after her release, people will only ever need her and verina. Hence why I said they will probably just be releasing a bunch of dps and sub dps characters for a while.

Hoyo is doing everything to suppress it's worst competitor. As an ex-genshin player, this game is waves ahead genshin. Genshin is a huge pain in it's current state. I even tried ZZZ. Played it for few hours and threw it out of the window.

I get it, it's a slow patch. People are desperate for excitement and that's probably why they chose to drip market Shorekeeper as early as they did. But I agree with their decision to just be patient. Let people be hyped for the free Xiangli Yao and the Shorekeeper in the next patch.

It's only because Genshin got their first 5 star selector, Da Wei cried, and Natlan is generating hype. It is literally just the Hoyo fans acting up because they're hoping Natlan pops off.
No matter what WuWa did, the Genshin addicts and Hoyo enthusiasts would hate on WuWa. There's nothing Kuro Games can do about it, besides keep their heads down and keep cooking.

And yes, powercreep is bad. Honkai Star Rail's is far too toxic (imo) and for an F2P it's just not worth it. So I quit the game. There are so many new games coming out anyway. 😅

So far wuwa has been amazing. Hard to return to Genshin every day, just to do the daylies. The only reason I'm still playing genshin is my c6 r1 Arlecchino. But I don't think there's going to be any actual interest for me until Snezhnaya
Lol, I didn’t need drip marketing to know that I was going to skip 1.2 in its entirety. And the free character is contributed to the fact that his sales were going to be horrendous. Let’s not forget the low end sales of Changli, and she was an amazing character. P.S. if a newly released game can’t drip market the next patch due to potential failed sales, then you need to reevaluate your perception of your audience’s desires.
They went so hard with Jinhsi + Changli in one patch that its gonna be hard to top that.
I'm not sure why WuWa is getting so much criticism, it be for a multiple of reasons, but they can do that if they wish.
I'm bias because when I saw Zhezhi, I was so excited for her, than Xiangli Yao grow so much on me during the Moon festival, so I'm planning on pulling his weapon so I can have a good 5* gauntlet.
I'm enjoying my 1.2 patch so far and I can't wait to see more (while saving up for Shorekeeper). I believe that in terms of Shore Keeper reveal, it could be seen both as bad and good. People can pick if they wanted Zhezhi, and with the free Xiangli Yao, they would get a limited 5 star this patch go around anyways. Of course, some people are hopping onto Shorekeeper without looking at the current patch, which is sad because I really have been enjoying the moon festival and events we have so far for 1.2.
I view the rerun as a hopeful sign that unlike in some games, we will hopefully not need to wait a year plus to wait for that character's rerun.
But things can change, and I am just really enjoying my Changli, Zhezhi and Verina right now. I am hoping that Shorekeeper will be fun too, and I'm excited because I didn't really care for Calcharo, so I will have a electro dps to pair up with my Yinlin with Xiangli Yao.

For Shorekeeper I think it nice to have another healer because when it comes to Tower of Adversity you will need at least 2 healers and as far I know by posting content about Wuwa ppl under my comment don't really use the 4 stars healer. I think she won't fully power creep Verina but the next good healer that can be put into the team. I see ppl making jokes about how there are only 2 slots in your team because the last slot will just always be Verina. Shorekeeper will be a good upcoming character but I do agree with how they marketing her so soon and losing the hype of this current banner

I do think they should have waited for the middle of Zhezhi''s banner to do Shorekeeper drip marketing. It hurt both sales for Zhezhi and Shorekeeper imo, at least on the light spender side of players. That said, I think they understood that the designs for 1.2 characters aren't very popular, so they did her drip earlier to let people know that there's still something to look forward to. As for the drama surrounding WuWa criticism vs Hoyo games, I think it very much has to do with how both communities are. WuWa players are much more welcome to cricitism in their game, but combined with the fact that hoyo players get triggered by criticism, it seems that only WuWa gets criticized a lot. HSR has had powercreep after powercreep since release, yet the few times people made videos on it, they got a lot of hate from it. Generally the critical videos on their games get too much backlash, so people don't do it much.
Imagine your rival is a big company that dominated the market in certain game genre, You have to do anything you can to keep your project alive, im pretty sure Kuro CEO said something similar.
The reason why Hoyo is big (I do hate to say this actually) Is because they released Genshin at the perfect time when people desperately need something new, Something fresh, And so it carries over to the next game they released.
But sadly, The community itself have the biggest problem amongst all Gacha game community, and because of the company getting more bigger they released more games, it became Worse.
As for Kuro, The company still lack of experience because they only have 2 games active out of 3 games, And only one that's globally released, The problem with Kuro is that they are not making/maintaining more simple game long enough before they jumped into a game that more difficult to handle, And the only thing that makes kuro is Kuro is PGR and Wuthering waves, the game, the art, the music, the SFX and the mechanic.
While Hoyo have that 5 with an extra The storyline especially Honkai Series that start More than a decade already, Genshin might be the reason why Hoyo become big but what makes hoyo is Hoyo is that Honkai series (although i cant see Hoyo the same again after Genshin).
Destroying the hype is much easier than keeping it, I hope Kuro did not make the same mistake again in the future.

Did Kuro release the Leaks? if they themselves are the one leaking characters then it's thier fault for the fall of patch 1.2 hype. But if Kuro did not release any leaks about the upcoming characters then blame the people who constantly post a video about WuWa character leaks.
at this point I am not sure cause there are dedicated channels on leaks who post every day
I kind of think all leaks are intentional. Like they put it out there for data miners or hackers to get it. I bet GTA 6 and all their leaks they had the same password for the hackers, and a folder named "Hackers Content Here".
It's a safe way of releasing info without committing to it.

Agree, they reveal shorekeeper way too early, and leaks abaout shorekeeper kit makes people want to save up their asterite, as for now wuwa player desperately need a "good" support, player that have skill issue with dodge and parry 😅, even back then i wanna pull zhezhi for my jinhsi, but because i still able to clear toa 30/30 with ok team comp, i think im good for now 😂, btw i used taoqi and yuanwu for my jinhsi, me personally i like when i have to try hard to dodge and parry+swap cancel memorizing boss pattern and etc, rather than dps chexk 😅
If they didn't show Shorekeeper, people might have pulled for Zhezhi cause of her being an investment to other units in the future... And probably a lot will regret it after they saw Shorekeeper... So basically, what they did is a bad business move for kuro for sure, but a great advantage to players... It's a double edge sword😭
very true but my counter point to this is if its a re run with shore the Re run should be 1st so that f2p and light spenders will still have enough to summon on shorekeeper but I do agree with you

I don't think it's that bad. Whales will still whale even if they know every upcoming character, most people that would skip a character for another character are either f2p or monthly/low spenders.
Why are people complaining about filler patches? All of the open world gacha games have those no exceptions. It's impossible to make a main story per patch and expect the story telling to be very good. Assuming every patch is every month, the pacing will be too fast with little understanding of the characters backstory or to give more information to the story. Filler patches are like side stories where they are not impactful to the main story but relevent to understand the context.
Since the 1.2 drip marketing, I think it was very clear that 1.2 would be totally skippable.

I think they will lock behind all 3 buffs in her sequences like default we get heal aoe 1st copy crit for her n team and crit dmg on 2nd copy.
Shorekeeper won't be best in slot with Jinhsi cuz she's Spectro. Jinhsi wants different ones, so a future support that buffs skill will be BiS for Jinhsi

I don't understand the problem with Shorekeeper being announced early. People always complain that gacha games don't drip market their future characters in order to not let players prepare and save their pulls.
Kuro let you know early that this awesome character is coming and you have time to build your astrites.
If anything the Shorekeeper announcement made me more excited to play 1.2 and the events and farm and prepare for her.

(I say mainstream cause this only ever comes from the big 4 games, you never hear anything from more niche communities like dbz dokken, fgo, Nikke, ect...) Like, you can juggle multiple game guys. I'm kinda glad WuWa is in a filler patch tbh. We got so many free characters on launch and 1.1 characters were amazing so having a bit of time to play catch up and get them built is fine by me.

The only way it matters to players is that decent/high revenue means the game is unlikely to announce EoS, and WuWa is clearly doing well earning at least 20 million just on mobile.

I dont see a problem, i just hope there will be also more male characters, lot of gacha have more female or only female ones. I started playing this game only because there are male characters and its fun to play. Anyway so far i like almost every character, just as a f2p be rolling on these i really like.

Shorekeepers kit and design is good, but I always pull for characters I like more, so for me she is an easy skip.
I hate that a banner lasts for 24 days so 48 days per patch It's too long it was good somewhere around 30 days max 35 to swing the patch before or after genshin zzz.... and instead of 5 radiant tide, put another 5 for a total of 10 to compensate for the daily missions lost but it will probably never happen :))))
i hope the game keeps going slow and moves to 1 five star per patch, the hsr pace with 2 5 stars is kinda anoying

It sucks but they need to do it because of story/content reasons.
Imagine 1.0 only had Jiyan, which means 1.1 would be only Yinlin. The pacing would suck because now it's either just have Yinlin's companion quest in 1.1 or also include Mt.Firmament/Jinhsi's story without Jinhsi banner.

I'll never understand the gacha community. Everyone loves to get all bent out of shape about "filler patches" and "dry spells". There's other things you can do with your time, you know.
