It broke my heart to see people getting excited about a false rumour so I knew I had to make this video. Anyway: Which male character are you most hyped about?
Something interesting to note: I play Honkai Star Rail and at the start you meet your two main companions, similar to what happens to Rover. But in Honkai Star Rail, your companions are one female and one male character, while in Wuwa you have two female characters. I found there were a lot of scenes where having a group of 3 girls (I play female Rover) a bit boring and it would have been a more varied scene if one of the characters was male, to balance out interactions. So yes, we need more male characters. They bring variaty to the narrative.
Hopefully that's something that could change depending on the region. Chixia is employed in Jinzhou so even if Yangyang comes with us wherever (eugh) we can make a new, potentially male 3rd friend in other regions.
In a lot of games they give you a male and female guide tutorial character, but not here, kind of disappointed me to haved to wait so much to see a male character.
Ikr! Not to mention what got me to play HSR was bc of their early leaks chars. They alr got 3 male chars released early in the game. While WW... I tried to play, was anticipating the male chars even tho none of the existing ones arent my fav still. Only when in 1.2 I heard that even till 1.4 its still all female releasing, so I quit. Was really hoping Geshulin will be drop early...
The problem is that a lot of people got “baited” because of Scar and Geshu lin, Wuthering waves is releasing Camellya (a very hyped female character), but a lot of people are leaving cause neither of the most popular male characters are going to be released any time soon, they don’t appear in the leaks from the next few versions (even Phrolova appears next) :/ so they hype for the game is slowly dying because of that
Why do you want anime male characters? Look at Jiyan - he has the face of a girl, the only difference between him and a full-fledged woman is the fact that he has no boobs. Why don’t you want to take Camellia for example - she also has a girl’s face, no boobs, I think she fits the criteria of a male anime character.
@@angmar87 This is what CN male players said when genshin made 4 male characters in Sumeru and they thought that was too much, because those characters stole too much attention from female players
My main frustration about kuro's marketing of male characters is how they do not treat male characters as equally as female characters in the aspect of marketing. Excluding the promotional content they provide which is decent enough, they don't give enough opportunity for male character fans to spend for them. In PGR, They don't release paid skins for male characters on their debut patches unlike the recent female S rank characters who get paid coatings on debut, there's no gacha skin for a male character yet. It felt like an insult when they released lucid dreamer wanshi but made SFX skins for ayla and no. 21 while it's wanshi who's the one supposed to debut and yet gets no paid skin. Moreover, he's free. What is there to spend on then? In wuwa, there's Jiyan and Xiangli Yao. Jiyan was the first banner to release, people had the resources to roll for him while they clear 1.0's game content. XY's story content and promo content gained him lots of positive reception and banner sales despite being given for free, but it was the fact that he was free that kept others from swiping their cards for him. It's almost like male characters are just there for female character fans' convenience to save up for the next female character banner. Come on man, is it not obvious enough that kuro does not see them enough as an opportunity to sell? It would not be right for kuro games or literally anyone to keep pushing that female characters sell better when they don't pour enough effort to make male characters sell. If kuro games truly wanted to cater to a wider audience, listens to feedback from a wider demographic, then they should be making efforts to be more impartial.
@@Weltte yeah, i wished the scarlet redeemer lee was sfx because it had so much potential, i woulda swiped for that. Even the skin the came with lucid dreamer had sfx potential bc i could imagine gold effects in his moveset but yet again, they dont pour enough effort in creating spending opportunities for male character fans which is why they still couldn't make money out of both audiences. They've already made a total of 5 gacha coatings for female characters in pgr but all this time, while only two male characters remained in the CN meta so far (damn, only two, coulda been at least 3-4 when there's like 6 meta teams in total including void/nihil), no gacha skin for male character. They just plan to keep milking female character fans while keeping male character fans either waiting forever to spend for something. It's not that the male character fan audience is an untapped market, GI and HSR have been doing better compared for having a good balance of m:f ratio and good marketing compared to ZZZ and HI3 which has a predominantly female cast. At least in this case, hyv made money off of both audiences, so i dont see why both pgr and wuwa learns from them in the marketing aspect. They woulda made more sales like this, and if they still plan to 'play it safe' by constantly having their games heavily biased towards female characters, then what is the point of putting male characters in their games then? sorry this turned quite into an essay now-
it's not just Kuro, every gacha dev company does that for various reasons. One of which was a hate for male characters by players, mostly CN but I bet there were global ones too. People like to say such hate doesn't exist, but the various NTR characters and their own actions prove it does.
@hunterxkiller8732 that is indeed an unfortunate reality. I've heard of CN extremist fans who would resort to harassment of especially female players/fans or even game devs themselves when they see their waifu involved with another male character that isnt the self-insert character, like the incident with an artist's work for one of pgr's anniversary fanwork showcases in the past being taken down just because some assholes found out she was a watanabe x bianca shipper when the work itself only involved bianca, or that artist who made a work focused on jinhsi and sanhua and the self-insert crybabies started harrassing them and sending them vile threats until they had to take down all their works and stop creating for wuwa as a whole. I hope kuro at the very least does grow a pair and stop bending over for those types of people because they're spoiling them and turning them into bullies. This hostility towards artists (or creatives in general), especially when their works aren't for the so called 'target audience', creates an hostile space which is why fans would rather just stop contributing or would rather stay away for their own safety.
Can I mention how Calcharo is the most punished mf in this game? No main story relevancy, no companion story, no appearance at all in anything, is shit to play as, got powercreeped by Xiangli Yao in 2 patches, like ok I get it Toshiyuki Morikawa is (probably) an expensive va(comparing to cn, kr and en, also my fav va Douman fgo my beloved) but like come on man
Literally bro he just appears randomly in the previous event and that's it😭 BRING JUSTICE TO MY MAN also i still main Calcharo cause i simply does not care about Xiangli Yao and i don't like his gameplay
I saw the beta where his story was and he was talking to us and I cried because we didn't get to have his story and go on a date with him🥲😭I'm so disappointed he is my favorite character and he's so ostracized
The important question here is Kuro afraid of the failure of male characters? I need a convincing reason from them Being silent about why there aren't more male characters makes me think the game will be waifu only. I remember when neuvillette was released from genshin impact he broke the internet. Everyone was talking about him to this day neuvillette has been a huge success everywhere I think we male character fans left the game a long time ago. Maybe I will come back when more five-star male characters appear. Edit post update‼️ : The new area launched by wuthering waves There are four girls and only one male character on the other side is the new Honkai Star Rail area keep in mind Their ads came out at the same time Three new male characters and more More is the fourth male character in Honkai Star Rail wuthering waves developers still can't fill the lack of male characters 😶
I’ve saved enough for Bulante but idk if I’ll be spending or being that active in the game, why bother when the characters I want are years away from being released? (According to leaks)
True, I already quit wuwa after giving it a second chance because of Xiangli Yao, I enjoyed his quest but then I saw some people talking about how CN incels where mad about his existence and they were asking kuro to not make male characters, something similar happened in genshin during the sumeru patch CN incels complained about sumeru having too many 5* male characters, and after that in 2024 kinich is now officially the only 5* male character released this year, before that incident genshin had a decent amount 5* males per year, so I ended up uninstalling wuwa again because if that is true the same that happened with genshin is going to happen in wuwa.Honestly, I think I most likely won't play more gacha after genshin's story ends.
@spookycat2874 honkai star rail has a lot of male characters. They are fair in terms of the number of male and female characters. They released two new male characters. They know how to please their fans That's why I deleted wuthering waves for honkai star rail
@@lia-zu9lj hsr is doing better, but theyre slowing down. in 1.x almost every patch had a new male (jingyuan into luocha into blade into skip into argenti into ratio). 2.x is more less tho (skip into aven into boothill into skip into jiao into skip into skip into sunday). 1.x has 5 limited men over 6 patches, 2.x has 4 limited men over 8 patches. thankfully 2.x has some 4* males to fill in the gaps, galla and moze (no new woman 4* since...xueyi?), and for newer players there's reruns of males (like in 2.0 has no new males but has jy and dhil rerun, rn rappa is the only new one but theyre rerunning dhil and then aven) but if this trend keeps up, 3.x will only have 4 or less limited men (discounting if we get like men from fate collab). hopefully 3.x doesnt follow 2.x trend
In my honest opinion, they really need to balance the female and male character ratio cause 17:7 is just not fair and how's Kuro actually want to gain profit from the husbando enjoyers if they barely have any reason for spending? Let alone feeling being mistreated (tbh this is my same hope on PGR). Also yeah I agree they really need to fix the "jello" because some female characters with over physic is just doesn't make any sense.
they don’t need to balance it all, because that’s just not possible or fair to their bigger audience which is the female character enjoyers, to balance it, it would take too many back to back male characters, which just isn’t a good choice lol, being realistic we shouldn’t demand it, just let it come naturally.
@@DiamondCityLights not really like 1:1 Like 1:2 or 1:3 at least, you want to rest your wallet at some point no? And you want the male enjoyer only actually have a reason to spend right? Your reasoning is so weird when it's a win-win for both side
I would agree to an extent. Kuro designs amazing characters, whether it be male or female. But Kuro needs to appeal to the overall market, if wuwa presented itself like love and deepspace then their overall market would be to “husbando lovers”. I will admit that I love Kuro’s male character designs almost as much as I like their female characters. Unfortunately this isn’t the most common opinion
@@DiamondCityLights the game should be fair to everyone, it doesnt take anything from you if they add more males, you just can not wish for them and save your wishes for the women
the issue comes from China, whenever a gacha game mainly played by males release too many male character ( just 4 is too many ) they riot, it happened with Genshin before, same with PGR, which is why they aren't so eager of the idea to put as much focus on male characters as they do female ones
the ratio of males to females didn't bother me at first. But now kinda feeling a bit disappointed that there aren't more males. Hope a story line brings Geshu back... i'm dying to learn more about him
Why do you care so much about male characters? You'd be better off worrying about the number of tall adult women, of which there are only two in the game, as opposed to lolis and anime schoolgirls. At least someone should ask the question - where are the adult women and why are most of the female characters underage? Get rid of lolis and schoolgirls and you get male characters
@@ryouxeii32 Because in the game there are significantly more adult male characters than adult women, of which there are only two and the number of lolis already exceeds this number. Get rid of the lolis and you'll get male characters because Kuro has lost his mind and wants to turn the game into a kindergarten
I'm a guy who usually prioritizes pulling for hot female characters but I'd prefer a more even split. I like having the variety in both my roster and the game world/story because I find that it makes me feel more immersed. I also realized that it's possible for me to enjoy male character designs (to the point I'll pull the limited 5 stars), but I just never played a gacha where I really liked the men until HSR. I think what you said about story involvement for the characters is super real too. I really like Aalto, but in general I don't even know why I should care about a lot of the dudes (with Calcharo being super egregious). Meanwhile in HSR I absolutely love Gepard and Welt who are both just standard banner characters, and even Yanqing who gets meme'd on gameplay-wise has a way bigger story presence than Lingyang. I will admit that the comparison isn't totally fair considering wuwa has been out for a lot less time, so I'm hoping some of this gets fixed with time. One last thing is that I think bringing in a wider audience is super duper valuable for my personal enjoyment of the game. Wider audience -> more players -> more content in general whether it's gameplay videos, guides, tier list reactions, general discussions, fanart, anything.
"I like having the variety in both my roster and the game world/story because I find that it makes me feel more immersed." THIS. this so much. As a female player who wants to collect allll the male characters, I 100% agree with this. It would feel so weird to me even as a male enjoyer if the ratio was 17 men to 7 women right now lol. I wish people would stop acting like this is only about gender wars and realize that the ratio being skewed so heavily female is AWFUL for immersion. Honestly playing Natlan (Sorry to bring up genshin) has felt like I was living in a male player's fever dream and it... really killed my immersion ngl. This becomes extra glaring when you compare the gender ratio of NPCs to the gender ratio of playable characters. Plenty of male NPCs because they know it feels more realistic, not so much with playable chars because of the erroneous idea that only female characters sell.
@@MJDanvers and then the female characters are so generic. It’s the nation of war and we’re playing around with high school teenage girls. Way to kill the immersion
THIS! as a women who loves my male characters I could NOT play a game where only males exist with very rare female character appearance. Its way more immersive with a diverse character cast. I love my evenly split games which is why I love Star Rail. I'm pulling for women and men alike
@@hongers9 True, I'd like an even split as well. Limbus Company did that and it works! You play as a group of misfits though, not a singular character. With 12 slots per team, you get to choose male & female characters, the sinners, in your roster every battle!
Another great video, I had to laugh out loud about the jiggle part. Zhezhi's water balloons are truly something else. Also 100% agree that male character enjoyers usually like the girlies too (me included, looove my dudes but currently maining Zhezhi). The thing about how characters sell affecting the game going forward... I just can't help thinking that Kuro hasn't really made it to where male characters CAN sell. I mean come on, not only was Xiangli Yao FREE, he was Calcharo 2.0 (and plenty of people thought Calcharo was cooler/hotter) and beyond that, he was the THIRD male character to be ult- dependent. Meaning they're frustrating to build and even more frustrating to play in overworld. Compare that to Jinhsi's skill nuking and who's going to pick Xiangli Yao really? This isn't something I see talked about but I think it needs to be. We've only got two limited males in the game, guys. Two. And they're both ult dependent and even if you like that playstyle, it's redundant. So TL;DR kuro REALLY needs to consider how they're marketing their males and how they're designing their kits when they look at revenue. Ugh I hate to bring up genshin but take Neuvillette. One of the best selling characters in the game despite being male, because he's so overpowered. Zhongli. Another best seller who's male because he's the best at what he does. And to add on to what you mentioned about female character designs, I'll throw a mention of Arlecchino in there. A woman in REAL pants (all I EVER wanted from a game) and another best seller. I think Kuro can absolutely make a killing off of male characters if they wanted to, and same goes for some girlies with, shall we say, variety. If Yinlin wore the suit, I'd have pulling her on her release, that's all I'm saying. As it is I don't ever plan to pull her. I've been feeling less and less motivated to play the game at all because there's just...nothing... to get excited for. A lot of redundant sexy female characters, no males... nothing to pull for for me. I hope Kuro considers that.
@@sakutaro3musik486 I pull females, but not many. If there were more female characters like me (in other words, not half-naked sexy waifus designed purely for fanservice to straight male players) I would probably pull more of them. Still, most of the characters I enjoy are male, so...
@@MJDanvers Even then, characters like Camellya does fanservice well. Her entire character is a femme fatale who's very much mentally unhinged, along with having a fighting style reminiscent of Bayonetta. Sexiness suits her because it plays a purpose in telling a story. Meanwhile, modest and reserved women like Zhezhi and Baizhi have no business hanging their badonkadonks out like that. Their personality doesn't call for it, their fighting styles don't call for it, their occupations don't call for it, and it's completely irrelevant aside from letting gooners oogle at them. It's so awkward and it's painfully obvious what the devs are getting at. I'd be convinced that they simply lucked out on Camellya.
@@inplane9970 Agree, you summed it up very well. Nothing wrong with sexy characters if it fits their lore. Meanwhile forcing things for the sake of sex appeal is never going to be a tactic I enjoy. It can ruin characters and plots especially if it gets out of hand. To hear a lot of people tell it, it did get out of hand with Shorekeeper's storyline (I haven't felt motivated to do that part of the story myself so I haven't seen it firsthand)
He's not necessarily dead... he just disappeared- body not found. I doubt they'd design a character so well and then not release him as playable. Plus - I did hear a rumour (leak) that in the Kuro files or something that his 'code' suggests he WILL be playable at some point. Guess Kuro just waiting for the right moment. Don't give up hope.
I can’t really talk on the male character situation because i am a certified man liker, but the Jello Jiggling is _so funny_ .I think one of the most egregious examples was at the beginning of the Black Shores quest when Shorekeeper appears on the beach, where her head head is cut off from the camera and you can literally see her, uhm, ‘wings’ going back and forth. It literally made me laugh out loud when i saw it
it's so juvenile. this is like Dead Or Alive 2 change the age to 99 for maximum jiggle (I'm a bit older lmfao) levels of foolishness. you really want to tell these players to grow tf up frfr. it's so embarrassing.
Thank you for shedding light into the matter. The lack of male characters is a big issue in this game and is actually counter-productive for it's income. A multi-gender gacha always brings in more money than a solo gender gacha. There's a reason why even MHY moved on from Honkai to Genshin and HSR being their primary games. Also, no matter how much people say otherwise, male characters sell. Even Love and Deepspace, a fully male gacha, has been competing with Genshin and HSR for the past few months, not to mention the fact that some of the most popular characters from Gachas are male characters, like Archer, Lancer, Gilgamesh, Zhongli, Siegfreid, etc. The current situation of Wuwa's created a narrative of false advertisment, which will slowly but surely stop the male lovers from playing the game and compel them to talk negatively about the female bias the game has with newcomers, online or IRL, resulting in a big income loss. Everybody loves waifus, but people also wanna play as cool and badass anime men too. 1 male for every 2 females is not gonna kill the game.
What's funny is that Love and Deepspace didn't just compete, they BEAT not one but all of Hoyo's games one month. That really tells me something. And the fact that Wuwa's revenue has been dropping after releasing one female after another and a rather fanservicey story... I think they need to take stock and realize that alienating and disappointing their female fan base is perilous. The ratio has really gotten out of control at this point. It's kinda killing my motivation to play-not on principle or anything, I still play and enjoy females (I'm maining Zhezhi rn) but I just... kinda... have nothing to look forward to, nobody in the upcoming patches to pull. So I feel my motivation to play slipping away from me which is sad because I originally LOVED this game...
@@MJDanversMy man, my bro, my guy, truer words have never been spoken. You said everything I wanted to say and more. Right now, the male-to-female ratio's so bad that it's actually affecting the world building and making it look artificial rather than a living a breathing world. I understand that waifus might just bring in more money than husbandos and due to that I'd be cool with a 2:1 Female-to-male ratio as long as we get the husbandos in a good consistent basis. Even 3:1 ratio would be fine but a 4-to-7:1 ratio's NOT it. What you said isn't only happening in Wuwa but in almost all the big gachas right now with a heavy female bias. I think we're seeing a shift in player demands. After decades of constant waifus in almost every gacha you play left and right, even the most devoted waifu pullers are getting bored of them and it's showing in the gradual decrease of wuwa's income. Unless something or someone speaks to your soul, even something or someone you like alot will bore you if you see too much it/them. There's a big waifu fatigue going on in the gacha market. It's not only the girls who want the men. Guys want'em too. Girls wanna play with husbandos. Guys wanna play as cool badass anime men. What's messed up is the fact that alot of us men who decided to go the incel route and attack the devs along with gatekeeping the waifu oversaturation from the normal people had male role models while growing up like Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Goku, Vegeta, Naruto, Luffy, etc. What happened to all that ? We wanted to be like them when we grew up but now, we can't even take enough pride in our own gender to proudly wanna play as strong and capable characters of our gender without feeling our masculinity challenged and attacking the devs to show them how manly we are. A game made by men for men but condemned by their own. Just like you said, Kuro's in a downward spiral right now. Even the most hype female units will bring in so much money when there's already a waifu fatigue going on rn. Wuthering Waves is not PGR. What worked there doesn't means it'll work here. I really love this game I don't wanna see it bomb due to some bs business decisions they could've easily fixed. I think I speak for all the people involved, like the fans, the devs, the investors, etc. when I say this game going outta business is bad for EVERYbody.
@@AratakiBullPowerSiddo1 THIS. The world building/immersion issue is FINALLY getting talked about and I'm living for it. Hate to bring up Genshin here but when I watched the Natlan trailer that showed MC alongside about a half dozen women and little girls, my immersion... broke. Completely. Give me a lore reason like Natlan is the country of amazons and we're good. But it wasn't for lore at all and that's what singlehandedly destroyed my immersion. Just look at the gender ratio in NPCs, it's a completely different story. Devs know a slanted ratio is unrealistic and not lifelike, we know it, everyone knows it. They make it realistic amongst NPCs but not playable characters for the worst reason possible: money. And the irony is...women spend on gachas too. Men who like playing male characters spend on gachas too. HUSBANDOS DO SELL. So even using money as an excuse does not work anymore. Not at all. You raise another extremely important point: what happened to men wanting to play as powerful hot anime men? I have a sister who feels empowered by playing hot, strong female characters, aka the kind of woman she'd love to be. Don't men also enjoy playing the kind of men they want to be? I mean, most guys wouldn't be caught dead playing with Barbie dolls because it's considered girly and embarrassing... doesn't it embarrass men to only play female characters... that unironically look like Barbies? LOL. This is something I will simply never, ever understand, and an idea that seems to exist ONLY in the gacha world. Literally take any other genre and guys seem to love playing as cool guy characters. I think it's time for an entire shift in the gacha world tbh. Wuwa and Genshin are coincidentally BOTH alienating their players who enjoy male characters, at a moment in time when it's been proven in a way it never has before that gachas that cater to women can be WILDLY successful. It's almost like Kuro and Mihoyo took one look at the success of Love and Deepspace and thought, "hmm, now that husbando enjoyers have a game that caters to them, let's stop catering to them at all!" I don't think I need to explain why that is a supremely idiotic move in business terms. They should be trying to _compete_ now more than EVER with games that cater to women. Instead, we're currently in the worst male character drought in the history of Genshin, and Wuwa's future isn't looking much better either. And the sad thing is, games like Love and Deepspace don't appeal to everybody. You cannot say "well, just play Love and Deepspace instead of Wuwa." It's not a replacement. It's not for men that like playing as cool men, it's not for women who just want an equal gender ratio, it's not for people who don't want a dating sim but simply want more cool guys in a game that was advertised as having plenty (in this case both Genshin and Wuwa). At the end of the day, as a female player who is attracted to men, I don't just play male characters because I find them hot. I play them also because it feels cool to play a cool guy, it ain't about wanting to eff them (and I don't understand those who pull/play characters fully based on that). I also like playing beautiful women because it feels cool to play a beautiful woman. I like it all. I don't think asking for both in a game that was advertised as giving both is unfair. In fact, I think it might be the answer to saving their revenue from continuing to go downward. As you say, the gacha community is only going to suffer if Wuwa goes under. In fact, the gacha community is already suffering from a screaming lack of variety. When are devs going to learn that sometimes doing things _differently_ from everyone else is the key to success? I don't mean to beat a dead horse but Love and Deepspace proved that there is a HUGE hole in the market that's simply waiting to be filled. How nice if games like Genshin and Wuwa were interested in helping fill it. (apologies for the super super long comment, I'm just very passionate about this issue!)
@@MJDanvers but i thought genshin already helped to not alienating the male character players....? I do recognize that from Mondstadt to Inazuma are predominantly women, but it starts to balancing out from Sumeru. We have Haitham, Cyno, Tighnari, and Haveh as a group. Wanderer is really, REALLY BIG that incels are obsessed with him (remember the Scarameow situation). Neuvillette are pretty much hyped due to his gameplay as his role in Fontaine. Even before 2.0, Zhongli, Albedo, and Xiao are hyped, everyone are really excited with Zhongli back in the days. Idk what are you talking about honestly 😂😅 Genshin DOES have more female characters than male characters but they doesn't feel that rare because they have SCREENTIME.
I think the bigger problem is how they've been introducing new characters on the same patch that they release in. In other games, devs are eager to introduce characters 1-3 patches ahead of time even if they're locked to being NPCs at the time just to give something for players to look forward to in the future - Arknights and especially Blue Archive are masters of this approach. And with the characters we do have in Wuthering Waves, their involvement in the story is either forgettable (Taoqi??), absent (Calcharo), entirely self-contained (Zhezhi + XY) or the entire patch is about them including the explorable area (Jinhsi and Shorekeeper). The character involvement within the story and even events is too far skewed and needs a complete overhaul with how they approach their characters. They nailed down the gameplay, but for the average player they're not all that interested in the cool gameplay tech that their new waifu or husbando can do and only really care about their story moments and how cool they look. Ultimately, we need more hooks to get us excited about characters. I think that if you were to do a poll of the most wanted characters on launch it'd be an even tie between Camellya and Scar, so if you were to take social media's impression of Camellya *and* if Kuro nails down her patch quest - they have the recipe for one of their most profitable banners and the blueprint for what to do with future characters. The ideal would be to use Camellya's patch to introduce 1-2 more Black Shores members so that they keep this trend going forward.
Well said! It's especially ineffective when characters like Youhu are introduced long enough to get a few lines and then disappear from the main story. PGR is much better at building up characters months in advance too.
@leukos22 well you are dumb😂😂. I just don't understand why people just don't have patience bro calcharo is from "New Federation" and in v2.0 rinasita is coming so wait for it. Up until this point every single character kuro released it's based on story that's why focus bro read the story. You are so clueless😂😂😂
What I wanna know is when the hell Calcharo is going to show up in a quest? Seriously, *has anyone seen this man?* Someone file a missing persons report on him. Like our esteemed uncle Watanabe from PGR, he too leads a vanguard of rogue mercenaries and I'd like to see that get explored at some point. So far, Calcharo is like his Forte: *a complete ghost...*
been a calcharo main since the first week of wuwa being out..... i'm starved. please. i want content of my favourite character. i'm tired of just reading about him i want to see him!!!
I think that what WuWa really needs is a glimpse into the future, where even siluetes could work and for this, I'm gonna do the forbidden thing... I will compare it to hoyo games *gasp* yes! because they did something right, remember how hyped everyone was when they suddenly dropped the Harbingers reunion? New characters left and right that might take years to appear in the story but it gives a good direction and what to expect and Zenless zone? they went beyond that, they showed not just the current characters but 15 more! First ever gatcha game to do this and on top of that, they showed 4 legendary ones that might be so far in the future most of us won't even play them. With Wuthering Waves, we have Scar and then... ? who knows, we know almost nothing about the enemy, the other nations or the story so of course we know 0 about what characters could come, so yeah we need a tease, not to the level of what ZZZ did but perhaps showing some direction
Oh my god this is what I always thought and I was saying I feel like there is something missing I need a video like Dainsleif video he talks about the regions and civilizations in the world of Teyvat where the characters of each civilization appear in the video Even the characters in in the game talk about the countries and civilizations that we will go to in the future. This makes it clear to the game where its story will go, but wuthering waves is so vague that we do not know whether we are on a planet or on one island On a planet ؟We don't even understand where we are. There is no suspense about the areas and civilizations we will enter in the future 😭🙏🏻
yesss you're right. theyre not giving us anything to expect and its making it boring. just how big is the map? how many nations are there? what exactly is the goal of rover other than remembering who they were? because we've gotten a lot of answers but it just feels so dry and boring. what happens when rover figures everything out? this game needs a teaser so bad.
This made me realize why WuWa didn't stick for me. !There's absolutely nothing to be curious about!! Rover has no real goal and thus no opposition. In fact, if Rover HAD gotten some opposition on account of not knowing who they were, then wanting to figure that out would actually make sense as a goal. But because it doesn't create any trouble at. all. it just becomes a fake, boring macguffin. (Thinking about what 1.0 could have been makes me so mad, grrr!) Meanwhile ZZZ isn't even my type of game (aesthetically or gameplay) yet it has me curious about and rooting for even the most meaningless of npcs.
@writerducky2589 Even the characters in the game never talk about the rest of the areas on the map so far The npc does not give us a hint about the cities we will go to in the future unlike Genshin Impact The unimportant npc tells us about her journey To the countries on the map This makes wuwa very boring Compared to Genshin Impact and this might be the second reason why I left the game.
Gotta give it to Hoyo, males may look like sticks but they're not treated as horribly as Kuro's males are. Hell, I think even Arknights males get better treatment than all Kurogames male characters and that game had a more massive ratio of Female to Male characters!
Yeah I gotta agree on the jiggle being goofy lol. Especially on characters that don't even look like they're wearing loose clothing around the chest like Zhezhi. I'm not trying to take things away from people though so I say just add a physics slider so it's up to individual player choice if the bags jiggle like gravity applies to them or not.
"male characters don't sell well" That's a lie. Look at love and deepspace. Gacha games are already so filled with female characters, look at how Lads sells on just MALE characters, yes it's otome game. But many guys okay it. And it SELLS well. If you're gacha games JUST makes female characters you're not moving away from stereotypical gacha games, you're feeding it in. Obey me also sells as a daring sim with many guys to collect. What in hell is bad also sells when it's only male characters you collect. Nu carnival is also popular as many people love to collect guys in games. There is market, just many are afraid to step out of their comfort zone.
It's also basic economics. When a market is too saturated with the same product, people are going to flock to the highest quality e.g. People playing Genshin (And Hoyo games by extension) rather than WuWa and every other waifu collector because it's more polished, has a higher quality, and has actual gameplay. When a product taps into a niche that is relatively untouched, it rakes in the money from people who are eagerly waiting for a high quality product within that niche e.g. A high quality game that has male characters like LaDs. It's been dominating mobile game sales for the past 2 months, while every other game has been dropping or stagnating.
There is always a lot of talk about ratio between male and female characters, which is also a problem. BUT my main problem its not how many male characters we have? but how devs treat them. What i want to see is male characters be the same lvl as waifus at fansevice. Where is our canon husbando at? When male character will hold our hand like Changly? When male character will be our destyny or whatever When male character will confess his love to us? Or when we get male character that absolutely obsessed about mc have 80% of body exposed and moans for us in idle? NEVER Yes devs too afraid to make mad male players while we getting new female trowing on us her body each patch and should be okay with it. And thats why i dont trust anymore those gachas that using male and cute kid characters only to bait more ppl into the game without actually making any content for them. I wish they would stop bating us that this is not only waifu gacha games and start from the very beginning as only waifu instead of deceiving us. Then we would just never get to this point where we already got invested into the game and starting to realise devs doing nothing for us.
They promoted camellya too much. They treated her like the one true companion of rover, her meeting with rover in every single timeline, never changing admiration and stuffs. Not to mention that kind of storyline is way overused, that this whole patch became boring.
@@MEITZUUU i dont really like hating on *harem* thing because i know damn well i would be happy to have male characters do the same fr but that never gonna happen even if this gacha for everyone, no way devs risk to make mad male players
We need more males and their part in the story needs be more important and better like I noticed females flirt here and there why the males I want scar wink at me again lol no joke
Literally, it's so obvious they are too scared to even let a guy be a permanent companion on our journey, the fact that most of the people who stick to rover from the start are women makes it clear, they never intended to actually listen to everyone its just empty words, all the care about is their male fans. as usual just baiting and then bailing. If only they let scar pounce on us like cammellya but alas these cn gacha addict incels (and even some international ones) can't handle seeing fan service for women for once even. Their loss cuz wuwa is already facing backlash and decline in growth. 🤷
I'm surprised on the story front you didn't bring up the whole 'every woman is in love with Rover' thing. The game has pivoted pretty hard into 'Master Love' territory which sucks cause pandering to master love basically means you inhibit building the world and character relations between each other so they don't intrude on shipping your self insert with the character. Every woman 5* has been shipped with Rover, Yinlin to the least degree but stuff like Jinshi who doesn't have too much in game but outside of game such as the trailer being a date with her is pretty egregious. Then in the next patch we get Shorekeeper who is obsessed with Rover, and then in the next next patch we're gonna get Camellia who is obsessed with Rover. Kinda repeating the same beat here lol. This is aspect is part of why I've lost a lot of interest in the Story. I like a world where characters feel like they truly live and interact in that world and Master Love writing is pretty much the antithesis to that ideal.
Especially 1.3 story. So much of possible story revelations got swept away in favor of a waifu bait, and then even the waifu bait ended up being halfahhed... All for what? I want my cbt1 story back.
"Everyone was in love with rover" guess who's not reading the dialogues there's only 2 female characters who's in love with rover and that is shorekeeper and yangyang or maybe you dont know how to differentiate companion, friend etc.
@@martialpeak8000 Doesn't quite invalidate the point. Everyone just *likes* MC in a very flat way. No one is teasing, being adverse, disagreeing, questioning, or well, doing anything that is not licking Rover's boots in one way or another. Of course, it's different levels of affections but still. Youhu, for the few lines of dialogues she had, is a good example. It gives us a glimpse of who she is first, then she interacts with Rover in her own bratty way, which was such a breath of fresh air compared to what we got for the last few patches
@@Zephyrion22why would they disagree when they knew who rover is? And rover was literally saving or helping them and ngl you sounds so weird for using those weird word like wtheck is licking rover's boots, i didn't see one, they act more intimate or some kind of teasing, but you assumed they were in love or they like rover? Damn that's tough
did you know you can find danjin during the moonlight festival? and if you talk to her, its her first time meeting you. Danjin, just like Couch-Churro, is a day 1 character and alsop doesnt appear in the story canonically yet.
I can't lie, it did feel almost like a bait to me, especially since all the new females turned the female fan service up to 11 suddenly. It's a lot, I like male characters in general but also the fact that male characters just tend to look better to me because they don't force crazy physics or sexuality into them so they tend to just look cool. Like Zhezhi looks ridiculous to me, her chest looks like Stretch Armstrong, stretchy rubber. And just variety, after a certain point, the constant fan service female designs in gachas just gets so tired. I would not want them to suddenly make only male characters or get rid of fan service entirely, sexy characters have a place, but when it feels like 90% of the characters are suddenly just fan service females, it's off putting to me. And the "Males don't sell as well" argument a lot of people try and use. That is a self fulfilling prophecy, when males are so outnumbered and they focus so heavily on female fan service, that skews the playerbase to draw in and keep players that like female fan service, so if they drop a guy, yeah, he will sell less after months and months of them only catering to female fan service players. That argument always bothers me because it's not actually an equal comparison. Like a steak restaurant saying a vegan meal they put on the menu didn't sell as much as a steak when they advertise themselves as a steak house.
This, both points. After camellya I'm just gonna save for males exclusively as I'm set in terms of meta for a long time. If none come - their loss, I used to be a paying customer.
@@Soundwave1900 That's been pretty much my stance too, I skipped Changli because the fan service is over the top to me. It doesn't match the character, same with Yinlin, she's actively trying to fly under the radar and not be noticed in her story but her design looks like that. And the game has really cool male characters too, I don't get the extreme pivot into female fan service right after Jiyan.
TBF Camellyas Fan service actually kinda fits her character where as I'll take an example from Genshin Raiden shogun is supposed to be a stoic ruthless leader but shes wearing very very short skirt kimono thing that's an example of bad fan service yae Miko aswell but I get where your coming from it do be over the top sometimes @@Soundwave1900
@@mismismism It's not a pivot. It was planned. They wanted to bait the husbando mains first. Look at PGR if you want to see where WuWa's heading. 2 limited males per year.
@@seraphoftheend5768 It does feel like a bait. The launch cast was still mainly female but way more even and not much fan service either only to immediately dive head first into constant fan service. I hate that, it's hard to defend.
Imo : Writing = pretty much bad. It feels rushed most of the time, and it feels like they don't know how to make interesting characters or relationship without heavily including Rover and making it about them (fanservice) Designs = mid, but 3d models make up for it (if we ignore giggle physics, they make me uncomfortable for some reason 💀) Gender ratio = Horrible.
They can make good stories BUT only when they're just there to be a camera. Encore's quest was great and would've been the same even if Rover wasn't there. Jiyan and XY weren't too on the nose romance-vise and their quests were more personal to THEM so they were good too. Yinlin's was a rushed mess with nice themes, 1.3 was a sorry excuse of an MSQ. They really wanted it to be about Shorekeeper and the Black Shores, but that doesn't work if you make her entire personality Rover.
@@plainsalt Exactly. It's like their characters and stories have potential, but they didn't know how to work it out while also keeping the mc relevant. It became kinda unbalanced and turned out to be about the mc where it shouldn't be to the point where it's affecting the characters' writing sometimes. There are exceptions tho like you said
Most "modern gachas" are like that...look at genshin none of the girls have personality and their designs are trash like emily to decent like navia not to mention shity models
@@ziebus904 mind you they have personality outside of being in love with traveler (except ayaka i guess lol) Navia was a great character we saw her story and character development on archon quest (if you can read) meanwhile wuwa has to lock them female characters to suck rover d!ck
Unfortunately Kuro is successfully driving all the people who enjoy and spend on male characters away. By the time they release another, most the people who would have been thrilled to pull for them will be gone. Then Kuro will use it as an excuse to make less because “look male characters don’t sell well!” They do nothing to cultivate a market for male characters and that is why they will never reach that market. Which is crazy cause games like Genshin, Reverse 1999, and Starrail have proven a gacha can be highly successful while selling male characters
Could you make a video addressing the terrible Rover-centric writing? Like how every single character's entire world is Rover, they have zero lives outside of Rover, their relationships with other characters are rarely shown, and most often the female characters are the ones suffering from this Rover-centric writing. So many cringe, forced, fan-service moments despite the characters barely knowing Rover. I'd love to see more attention brought to this issue and explained thoroughly by someone with a platform. This copy and paste writing pattern with every character (especially the women) is getting very annoying and repetitive.
Lore wise Rover is literally a God who was send to sol-3 to do what they want. And so many hilarious arguments about Rover centric plot in 1.3. Ironic. Shorekeeper was created by Rover million years ago, and have enough time to develop feelings for them, especially because Rover made her fell feeling in the first place. And now all this people is bothered by Rover centric writing.
@@glebscheglov9291where does it say that she was created a million years ago? This is what her story says in game: Perhaps the underground needs a sky as brilliant as the one above..." the Modulator mused, planning the future. As they reached out to activate the Tethys System, an enigmatic allure from a blue crystal beckoned them closer. The meeting of their frequencies triggered a resonance that shattered the crystal, releasing a surge of energy that burst forth like a nebula or a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. The energy swirled and coalesced, taking the form of a young woman, who greeted the one who had awakened her.
I was legit surprised when people all over the internet was showing how much they all went p2w for Xiangli Yao and how much people loved his quest, not just his trailer and tbf on Pgr's part they also got a lot of shit for their male characters by a specific audience and since they're less likely to also be released, it also makes their designs less comparable to female characters as they have less varieties to even compare to the female characters. (I am still waiting for teasell, pls i want an androgynous playable man) All that aside I'm sure they'll make their male characters well, many are likely just mad that characters with no foreshadowing and relevance like Youhou are released before male characters. I do think male characters needs to release more though, since the arguement of 'male characters don't sell well' falls flat when Xiangli Yao was obviously well loved enough for so many people to break their f2p status. (there's also hsr male character sales that does really well but wuwa is in different genre so not sure if it counts) Plus there are still f2p or light spenders that likes women who needs a break and time to farm for future characters.
Also the fact that most Kuro's female character are revealing more their skin and sexier to attract more male players who want fanservice waifu but they are not doing the same for male character just not fair The argument "male chars won't sell well" is weird to use when the dev themselves are not really treating the male characters like the same way they treat the female characters XY beat that anomaly for being the most hyped characters in 1.2 despite don't have any sexual fanservice them foreshadowing Zhezhi and her jello boba
@@abolfazlsh8260 I dont talk about revenue I talked about the hype, many more welcomes XY than Zhezhi we can see more XY fanart than Zhezhi even Kuro promote XY so hard on JP, don't be so salty and assume too much talking about revenue XY and Zhezhi are low very low compared to previous patch since it's a filler patch and XY were given out free

Tbh I never, NEVER EVER want to be part of Kurogame community, especially PGR community... I might keep up with fanarts or stuff regarding my favorite characters, but I never want to be part of the community at all The reason why is just how bad the majority of the community treat the minority of the group... you want more male characters? they'll call you mysoginist. You're a female player and try to give opinions? they'll call you attention seeker and call you a drama queen. You're a f2p but still want to give critism for the game? they'll shame you and say that you don't have any right to complain since you don't contribute on anything. Heck, one time they even shamed artists from leaving because of a drama, saying that they didn't really have any influence in the community
How can wanting more male characters be mіsоgуnу??? on the contrary, the ABSENCE and much lower number of male characters is mіsоgуnу because it is WOMEN who want male characters in games and the developers completely ignore the female audience
@@Glory_To_Ukraine135 Basically: Wanting more male characters = not liking the current female characters = hating female characters = misogynist Trust me, I was baffled when I saw this logic in an online argument... Also, they brought this logic as well when someone is hating a female character's design (still crazy imo)
@@Glory_To_Ukraine135 Crazy that they are defending fictional women from basically nobody cuz no one is threatening a bunch of pixels lol and accusing real women and bullying them and calling them "dramatic women that nobody cares about" for simply asking for characters of the gender they find attarctive in their favourite game, and they dare call those women misogynist? Lmao typical gacha community/weeb logic, I have learnt to distance myself from them as well saves you so much time and from headaches.
@@psychielstuffs Honestly, this game slowly turning into Honkai Impact 3rd than Genshin. I really love this game and it's reward. But the story is so awful rushed a bit. Although I love some parts. "We always listening." What a beautiful statement from a company that had bad past gender ratio from PGR. If you called it out, their community mostly will hate you for being f2p and not spending enough... kinda sad. It became a dating sim for gooners and yuri.
As a straight guy, I absolutely agree. Too much jiggle (looks absolutely ridiculous and does not make the female characters any more attractive), not enough variation, not enough male characters. Not every male player is a perv with unrealistic expectations. Honestly, I think each new banner should come with at least one male and one female. Make awesome looking male characters with good stats and abilities and people will pull for them. Games with weak stories, gameplay, etc. almost always appeal to sex to make up for it. Wuthering Waves is too good of game to stoop down to that level. Just my opinion.
As much as I like female characters, I'm waiting for more male characters too. I'd love to see designs on similar level to PGR, more recent example being S Watanabe.
@@angmar87 literally only 3 young looking girls, the rest are adults unless your specfically talking about pgr with still only has like 4 off the top of my head. The rest of the characters look like adults so what the hell are you talking about.
@@XiaoIsMyHusbandBTW No, they are not adults. Changli and Baizhu are adults, and the rest are generic anime schoolgirls and lolis - they are the reason why you don’t have male characters. Because they urgently need to make as many underage girls as possible and they still don't make adult women
@@angmar87 sanhua is an adult, i'd also assume jinshi is also one, but maybe young so 18-19. Yinlin no doubt is an adult, Chixia also just seems young but adult none the less, same with yangyang and taoqi. shorekeeper is another for sure adult. The only ones i can see working with your logic are like zhezhi and danjin but even they seem like adults and maybe i just don't know much about them. I love tall women as much as the next girl, (my favorite characters are Baizhi, Shorekeeper and Yinlin) but that still has nothing to do with the production of male characters?
Is the ratio good right now? - No. To the point that it's starting to affect world-building. But I know that they know this themselves so we shall see. "Are the designs good right now?" - Yeah. But like you said. More variety is better. I want to see more scifi-inclined designs than fantasy to be honest. Also different body models like maybe a sumo-type like grendel in warframe. "Is the writing good right now?" - Overall, still needs improvement. Black Shores has pacing issues. I didn't mind the slow and meandering first few acts but those also have issues. The Jinhsi one I think is the best. Well-paced and well-written. Black Shores is paced too fast for my taste. But so far, it has the best story-presentation. I like the focus on MC but they need to utilize their characters more other than the main one. They also need to fill the loopholes early on. For instance, when we reached Black Shores, the rover should've asked where Encore and Camellya are. Even a simple "they're busy". Is enough to solve that. Or better yet utilize aalto and encore more during the quest. Also, hot take: I think PGR's male character designs are really good cause they embody the yoji shinkawa-like tactical design which makes the most sense in PGR's world. Closest female construct is Vera garnet and Rosetta that shares this design philosophy. Hottest take. Lamia's design is too fantasy-ish for me. 😂 Please more constructive criticism videos like this! Let's not turn WuWa into another game full of toxic positivity.
Imo its starting to affect immersion and world building for me too. Where are the men? Have they gone extinct??? lol. I would never play all male/all female games bcause I cant immerse myself in those so when in omni gachas its usually girlies doing bunch of stuff like in wuwa I am starting to lose interest tbh. Also what bothers me we dont really see any interactions between playable characters. And why is Rover always present? Like there should be stuff happening even without them. Imo if your gacha characters cant carry the story without mc always present, they are not very good characters... People hate when comparing hoyo games with wuwa but imo hoyo handles their characters way better and in more interesting way. Wuwa feels more like dating sim
Agree . On the lamia part, a lot of people were disappointed of her redesign when her playable frame was revealed, i'd recommend to check it if you haven't
such a shame, i love Scar he’s the reason i started playing….. :// i thought he’d be released quite quickly, like Childe, but it seems like that’s not the case.. why did i bother saving for him? T-T
ive literally been saving for him after i got mr blue dragon and havnt spent an astralight since sinch i got punchy boi for free... i currently have around 200 wish things stored up for him alone not including his weapon
Man the jiggle I barely even notice, like I am always so immersed fighting everything in front of me that I barely noticed the physics of the game. Like Changli I don't notice this stuff at all because I am just burning everything down XDD
Yeah I can admit that it looks goofy but frankly speaking I'm either looking at the character's back as they face forward or I'm not even looking at my character and instead I'm looking at the big angry biker dude that is throwing his motorcycle at me.
It's annoying because everyone said wuwa is listening, so I thought they'd be fair. So I just tried to be patient, maybe next they'll release new male characters. But no, of course not. What 'listening' here meant they will listen to only what will make them profit more, not what will make the game better.
Imo what mist people are saying about kuro 'listening' is that the devs are listening for the Qol, not the female-and male ratio, which is dissapointing tbh. Ik scar and geshulin are gonna be future antagonist and are gonna be playable much later (I will never understand players who want them now when we know nothing about them). But yeah. They should start closing the ratio bcs I'm starting ti get impatient. Atleast were getting brant and another 4 star aero character.
@1.loveArt Yeah, 4 female and 1 male ratio is a bit much. They could at least make it 1 male and 2 female. And please I'm hoping for variety so bad. I'm getting bored with male characters using sword honestly. I'm definitely pulling for Brant tho
10:40 Bruh bruh bruh. Can we get some of those writing back please? After 1.3 my number one problem with Wuwa writing is how everyone just fellatxxxxxx Rover. Trusts and friendships are much more precious when earned, but nooooo. Everyone and everything just accept that Rover is the prophecied person, it's used in Blackshore patch, Jinhsi's lore, Changli's lore, Shorekeeper's lore. And people just easily love Rover, adore them, easily give them authority (battle against Threnodian, arriving at Blackshore). When is this gonna be enough? It's almost vomit inducing.
but it makes sense in both jinhsi and shorekeeper's story that they will give rover that authority, now the threnodian's one i can understand as prophecy is one thing but capabilities as a leader is another especially since jiyan is right there as well.
They're doing great. And 1.3 got praised to hell and back in the East and is doing more than well over here aside maybe one platform out of many. They're doubling down on this for Camellya from the looks of it. In any case, you oughta get used to it or dip cuz they're not changing. Don't worry tho, I told them to add more rover simping in my feedbacks
lol, I'm not even asking for no fan services. I'm asking for them to write better. Not these lazy, cheap plot devices, cheap praises. It's BORING. How long does a person enjoy cheap praises?
So here's some of my thoughts on the matter. 1. Yes I would like to see not only more male characters in the game but also further their involvement in the story. 1.0 was extremely rushed and i understand that. but Yuwanwu was one of the characters i fell in love with first. Then finding out he'd be in the story for about 15 seconds of screentime with 0 voicelines was bonafide kick to the teeth. That being said characters need build up and when you release them they're bound to be successful. I would say a solid 60-70% of players thirst so hard over Camellya is because of the intent of the charcater + role they've had so far. 2. I adore the direction they went with shorekeeper, a nice touching story to futher the rover's involvement and increase future speculation. What i hope doesn't happen is they start compromising on story elements to forward romantic relationships. Some girls like you, that's cool but i don't want the whole story to revolve around it either. 3. Male characters like scar will be implemented when the time is right. Like you said, for the PGR villains, we're probably going to hit a certain point in the story that acts like a climax before their release. I just hope we don't loose the psychotic personality of the onigiri man that we all know and love. They are doing good work and are headed in the right direction. that being said i hope they don't forget to slow down take a step back and examine the big picture from time to time to not loose the cohesion of the larger ideas they implement. Thank for the good video once again!
"It's like they all get their clothes from the same person." I doubt there are many clothing merchants in Jinzhou. Also, regional styles are pretty homogenous in real life.
Ok but I feel like that dosent excuse them all having a similar design........like if ur going to make designs based On a region, go FAR AND WIDE with the type of outfts
@@Accountthatexists I mean yeah i agree, but at the same time, if jinzou start getting indian or japan or aztec outfit it will be strange, or maybe not. im not designer but at the same time idk what should make it different but still look same country
I hope the new Chinese gacha with men will open everyone's eyes no one prevents them from making a male character with a cool design, there would be a desire You know what's funny. After all, after the release of the male character, they will tell us that he sold poorly and therefore there is no point in releasing them anymore. Overlooking the fact that a person could just save astrit in ALL previous patches with female characters
ok, hear me out: the gender ratio is a huge problem to be honest i saw on other game groups that the huge cast of female character in wuwa is actually what kept them to actually giving it a try, which is sad, the game is great but the ratio is what kept people to actually give it a try, they even call it gathering wife the wāifu simulator, which is sad really your game can be the greatest game ever, but when its mostly / exclusively female characters you're bound to lock yourself in a small pond of fish, do they sell? absolutely, but that wont sustain in the long run, plenty game sells waifu and do you think those player can keep whāling on every single wāifu there is? no, the oversaturation will kíll it in the future and the bigger audience wont care to try a wāifu game to be your new fish, and think about it for a second, so much game coming out with more wāifu do you think those whāles just play one game? the market was already so oversaturated with wāifu gācha games :/ its not just about it being husbāndo or wāifu the game/story immersion, just because you are used to see more anime game with female casts doesnt mean its good, dont you think when you go to here and there the cast was almost always female is, you know, weird? it not like the āpocalypse kílls off men (iykyk) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if you gonna bring the argument that men doesnt sell, its actually becoming a self fullfiling prophecy, when you release one men every 3-4 months and expects them to sēll like hotcakes youre dēad wrong, the player that wants them (that didnt quít already) doesnt need to spend because theyre given months and months to save up ingame currency, also can we be honest with ourself that the men was not heavily invested/marketed as much as their female character? they just make men like some kind of tøken and expect it to sell out? even if good men exist theyre like a dime in a dozen like come on - linyang has shít modifier - calcharo was críppled before he can even run and got powercrept only in 2 patch - jiyan man, i wish they update his animation especially his dragon because compared to jinhsi's his looks like it painted on, just because you wont notice it doesnt mean they can cheap out on him like that when hes the same limited as jinhsi before you come and bāsh me in replies to just quit the game or i dont get to complain as f2p, first of all, i maxed s6r5 xiangli yao and jiyan, but im scared seeing the trajectory so far, after jiyan on release we got yinlin, changli, jinhsi, zhezhi and then a free male xiangli yao, thats 1 - 4 already, and after xiangli yao we got shorekeeper that has every budget kurōgames has to offer, the map, the lore, the marketíng, everything, 4* youhu, and the upcoming cāmellya with another 4* lumí, thats another 1 - 4 and i actually (sorry for mentioning lēāks, i know its not fixed but hear me out) saw the lēāks of rínascíta 2.0 is another female character roster with 1 male on 2.1 do you know what that means? its 1 - 6 that means if the lēāks were true the ratio actually got worse, and id be dāmned if the *4 that came with the male is another female, i love kurō and their game, i want to love and support them but being put on the backburner like this is.... sad, i cant help but to feel resentment being treated like a second class player, an afterthought, like the lore is really nice the game is very good like REAL good, actually love the futuristic/apocalyptíc concept but dont know if i can keep supporting with all these lingering dissapoíntment you cannot get mad at us asking for more men when they baited us with men on launch, its to reel in us general audience, if you release wuwā like hōnkai at launch with all female cast no one would complain because we wont even bother trying in the first place if you read all this and say then dont play, the game is not catered/for you, go ahead and gātekeep it, ālienate the gēneral audience, yeah the usual predominantly male audience will stay but remember there will always a burnout, the casual/gēneral player will see wuwā and side eye it calling it wāifu gācha, they wont bother to try, like, do you not want a wider audience to potentially spend on your game? do you want people to see wuwā and say, yeah its that wāifu game instead of what the game has to offer? theres a reason why wuwā got that big in the first place, it was mārketed as the more serious, more mature balanced game for gamers, imagine if they release wuwā as all female/almost all female character, it'll be another snøwbreak, another hōnkai, another chínese wāifu game, does it rakes in money? absolutely, but the oversaturation and burnout of female character wont sustain it in the long run, and i am not asking for 1:1 but can we not at least do 1:2? male enjoyers get to spend and waifu enjoyers get to rest 1:2 ratio will actually benefit both side, you as female enjoyer get 2 patch of female to gacha and one patch to rest/skip and let these male enjoyer to spend in return, both side happy, bigger audience will enjoy it, they probably get one patch of downtime but in exchange getting a wider audience in the long run to sustain, they will stand out more than any other gācha games, in the busíness prospective its good to diversifies your income than putting all egg in one basket, sure it will sell but in the long run? dwindling playerbase, whaler fatigue with so few new player as theres plenty of the same "wāifu game" on the market and theres a lot of big titles coming out in the future if you keep the "then dont play it" or "doesnt matter/bother me" mentality goodluck keeping the playerbase in the long run / when those came out "then put on surveys why are you complaining here" i did, but i am only one voice and i am here to spread the message and help voice these concerns on your surveys also, it benefit us both.
i was recommended to play this game by my brother last week but when i see the roster... i dont think i want to try anymore haha, the game was so pretty but i want to make a team of husbandos 😔
What kuro is doing is making their female audience leave and go back to genshin or HSR; they’re releasing Sunday and he’s a very loved character by the community
@@cl13913 thats me with hsr which is sad because i loved kurogames gameplay more since the release of pgr (i quit because come on kuro 2 men a year is abyssmal) i wish a lot of people would put on feedback about ratio thing and they listen to it guilongchao dev actually made announcement to make their game 1:1 ratio despite the heavy cn backlash, the game looks nice im waiting for that to come to global, theres several titles as well coming out i had hopes 😩
@@eyn801 I agree, love the gameplay but it’s hard to find motivation to login in and collect when I’m not interested in any character that’ll be released this year
I prefer playing female characters too, but there needs to be a balance. I'm starting to get bored of every new banner being waifu bait. If Kuro keep pumping out new female characters and only 1 male character every 5/6 months, I'll probably quit. I'd also love it if they made more unique characters. The world is in a constant state of turmoil and battle, yet every character is a 10/10 in a skimpy outfit with no battle scars or armour.
@@angmar87least obvious rage bate, jiyan doesn’t look like a girl… at all. a big teller of feminine and masculine facial features is sharpness, girls tend to have softer features and rounded head shapes, and boys had much more angular and sharped facial features, jiyans jawline is quite literally an obtuse angle, and his overall face is very masculine, the epitome even. and what you said about the rest of his body makes no sense either, not only does he tower over most of the female characters, but he shoulders are very wide and need i say any about his extremely defined muscles and abs? it’s like you looked at jiyan for 10 seconds and wrote this comment.
@@staryxmoonlit His face is exactly what an adult anime woman should have. And they were deliberately made him feminine to attract the female audience that is attracted to guys with girly faces. Also, Kuro's artists are so incompetent that when they were given the task of making women's faces less like men's faces, they ended up with female characters that looked like alien humanoids - and this is also one of the reasons for the Fall of Wuwa. Incompetent developers - incompetent game.
Honestly they seem to have balance issues in general. Like there's also so few 4* characters in this game. Barely any healers, like one or two shielders. Barely any support specific characters. It's mostly main DPS's that some can technically be slotted in as a sub DPS.
@@TyIsreal They can't make more characters because their game failed. The game's budget was 200 million and they borrowed half of this money from Tencent and expected to earn much more on the release. But HOYO outplayed them and now they suffer a miserable existence by releasing 2 characters in a 49 day long patch, one of which will be 4 star, which are cheaper to produce
If they reverse things where the guys are showing legs and wearing no sleeves... People will whale. I know i will. Edit: justice for scar's crotch tape
I stopped playing because every new character felt like a new love interest. They are so loveydovey around you or flirting or just trusting you. It got boring so fast. When I played shorekeepers update, she just annoyed me. Yeah sure, they tecnically knew each other but I, as a player, had no connection. It feels like characters usually bounce of Rover instead of having interesting dynamics with each other. my favorites are Aalto and Encore because I really liked them together, but it it barley meant anything later. So... idk nearly everyone feels so isolated. And I'm the big isekai protag everyones flocking too. Got boring after a while.
I was hoping there was like an older brother - younger sister relationship between Aalto and Encore so that would make it interesting to see their backstories. It would also make it sad if Aalto were to die one day and leave Encore behind. But so far, the story didn't show anything like that unfortunately 😥
The entirety of 2.XX has only one male character. 8 characters were leaked and there is only ONE male character. Let that sink in. I mean I enjoy the game but the way Kuro takes direction is turning the game into a power fantasy harem rather than a post-apocalyptic sci-fi action rpg.
I play Lingyang. I don't care that he's weak. I may be a slave to the meta in FGO, but I'm not letting that happen in WuWa. I'm playing whoever I want.
I didn't mind the ratio at first because it was still better than 2:1 and there just weren't that many characters (relatively speaking). I expected it to level out or at least stay close to 2:1 as time progressed, but there definitely seems to be a trend of producing a more female-heavy roster than I was expecting from a game that started out with all the best (meta-wise, at least) characters being male. Regardless, as long as Kuro keeps making their female characters interesting and unique (or we go like a whole year without the visage of a new male character) I'm not going to complain. Either way, I'd definitely like to see characters have more involvement in the main story (and each other's stories) in the future.
I enjoy the characters so far, but here's what I want: - I want a bigger balance with the male and female characters. At this point, we know that male characters often don't sell as well, and the only way i can see them being able to catch up now would be to add more four star male characters, which will make the fanbase mad because they'll probably misunderstand and say, "Oh, so our boys don't get to be strong, special, and have special quests to get to know them now??" so that's gonna be rough trying to solve this. - I want more character quests that aren't only for five star characters. - I want to know more about Calcharo and Danjin. Really want quests for them. - I want them to add petite male characters too. Give the petite girls some friends their age that aren't other girls. - I really want to see skin tone variation. They could really impress the gacha community if they did what Genshin refuses to do. And i don't mean such a mild difference between skin tones that the only way you could tell a difference is if you took an eye dropper and looked at the results you got. I mean a genuine, noticeable difference. - I'd like them to please not add more black, white, or red-haired characters for awhile. I want to see more variation in hair colors. We've had a lot of the same colors (or too close colors) back to back. Also less of the same colors for outfits too. I want to see them experiment with new colors very much. - More body variation that isn't just centered around bust and hip size.
male characters can sell well, sometimes even outsell waifus but they need to have good design and story etc. And if games releases males like 2-3 times a year, those players who want them have months worth of savings, so less reason to spend money. and then people will say "oh men dont sell". make more men, and give us a reason to spend money lmao
Love and deep space literally proved everyone who said that males dont sell well wrong, because that game makes so much money and it has only males you wish for
Male characters not selling well is a complete myth, tbh. Look at LADS, or Ashes of Kingdom. They are outselling waifu coomer games like Nikke. When you give a proper market to this audience, they will throw money.
I totally agree with you on the whole 'jello' thing! I mean, alright, that fan service stuff is every where and it does sell but... that's just too much
@@venomfan9500 see burnice, see jane, see caesar, see ellen, see zhu yuan and you say they not jello even on fight, because lets be real wuwa jello doesnt happen on fight because you are too focused on fight
@@junkss69 How so? And that's a genuine question. Personally, I'm not a fan of that stuff at all, but I do understand how such things can be appealing to others, but, when it's 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 'jelly' like? It fr just looks ridiculous and kinda silly
The ridiculous jiggle is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. If they fix it, people will start review bombing the game because of "censorship", if they don't, they'll keep looking ridiculous. Just look what happened with ZZZ's Nicole when they toned down her physics in CBT2, though most people don't care today since the current physics are what they saw on release. Unfortunately the """best""" thing to do for Kuro here is to just not tweak them. As for the rest, it will all depend on the company's preference and the players' reception, but seeing the current situation in PGR it appears that Kuro just enjoys designing female characters more (I doubt revenue is a concern since characters like Selena, Ayla, Alisa and now even Bianca were given for free). The problem is that they can't just alienate and dripfeed the part of the player base that's always been there since day one, but evidently they don't really care about it? In Wuwa it's an even bigger problem because it aims at a bigger audience to the point that it does feel like false advertising. I didn't notice it myself at first but the ratio right now is STAGGERING, it's really bad. Not to be a downer but I doubt things will get better. Not only for the direction they're taking with the characters (and DON'T say it's the same as PGR because it really, REALLY isn't) but because designing and developing characters takes a lot of time. The feedback people are giving today could apply to characters that are 3 years away from all we can know. The only thing we can do is give them the benefit of the doubt, but people aren't willing to wait too much. If a product doesn't satisfy them they'll leave, most times even heart-stricken because there's no live service action RPGs with male characters like Kuro makes them.
@@salinalunara unfortunately that's another can of worms. Adjusting the jiggle physics would trigger an enormous reaction from *those* players, i've seen it lots of times and I can't even blame them too much because they're part of the target for these games. We don't know the real context behind Scar's change, but he was getting laughed at especially in CN. I'd assume it was an impulsive reaction from Kuro that just... betrayed whoever was looking forward to him, especially those that waited 2 years for the game. Even now, all the memes and fanart related to him still retain the onigiri, both Global and CN. I hope his playable design will have it back eventually, when Kuro realizes they have an actual audience they should pay attention to and not the opinions of those that maybe weren't even playing the game
@@sammyashi you are so right! "those" type of players are so profitable in the gacha space and the wider audience is already used to it, i doubt it they will change anything
hsr and genshin dont have stupid ugly alien water balloon jello boob physics and yet they make BANK either way. nothing is stopping wuwa from removing the boob physics or fixing them. bffr. if they keep giving into a small vocal minority of incels and gooners that just shows theyre weak and pathetic as a company and theyre validating those imbeciles
As a male player, I always prefer playing male characters, but PGR had a lot of interesting characters and I never minded playing as the female characters, the story is just that good. WW however, already has some great male characters, but just like you pointed out, they are introduced (if they are at all), and then they vanish from the face of the Earth. I don't think I would mind the gap so much if the male characters also got there time to shine, like Jiyan. thanks for another great video, keep up the great work.
Short answer: yes. Longs answer: definitely. The reduction of female characters to Rover simps and thirst traps is also sad, as everything on release was a bit more neutral in these matters (except the hilariously stupid jiggle physics ofc). It's also weird that characters just come into the lores existence in the patch they're realeased in. Makes them feel meaningless.
Damn... I been sending them feedback to keep making the female characters into giga rover simps after throwing a months paycheck at Shorekeeper and her weapon 😂 didn't even need to roll so much since I got her s2 early asf but I still kept going in on that banner so they know to keep it up
For those who are still saving up for Scar, I just wanna say that you guys have nothing but my while respect for such commitment. I have been saving up since launch for Camellya, and even though she will finally be out from npc jail in around 20 days, the waiting is still painful. So I can't imagine how bad it might be to save up for a character that so far *doesn't even have leaks.* (Yes I know there's out there people saving for much longer awaited character in other gacha games, but you usually don't see this commitment towards male characters.) Also Radio talking about jiggle physics for a quarter of a video is such a blessing.
Yeah like the people that we're saving for Sunday in hsr or even dainsleif, capitano, dottore, etc, the male chars popularity is undeniable but the problem is the companies and their excesive need of money and the toxic part of the community (thoose c0*mers that defend jelly physics and keep fighting because they don't want males in their waifu isekai) really stupid
Seriously I cannot tell you the pain cuz I was so excited at launch played so much and saving up thinking he will come after a couple months alongside camellya cue to me probably years later still waiting in a dark cave wondering if this man is dead or maybe its me whos dead lol.
The reason I played WuWa when it released was because of Jiyan and Chalcaro gameplay. They were so cool, so I had a high hope that there were more male characters like them. No need to be a lot, just appropiate amount is fine. But now... ugh, the only reason I am still keeping the game on my phone is because I love my Jiyan so much, I don't want to abandoned him. I am still waiting for Geshu Lin, Scar, and a Wanshi counterpart. This is why I like HSR so much. Their direction is clear and nice. We know what to expect. The different treatment between males and females are still worst, the favoritism is quite big, but atleast the boys has more "presence" in the story. Gepard, Welt, Jing Yuan, Yanqing, Dan Heng, Blade, Aventurine, Jiaoqiu, Sunday, and Ratio. Boothill is kind of special case. Argenti, well this dude is a litteral Mr. Universe, he is popping out everywhere. Heck, even the 4 stars still had important role. Arlan, Sampo, Gallagher, Misha, Luka. The only one that not doing anything significant is Moze, he is truly like a shadow. From the IPC Stonehearts, Hoyo already shove us Sugillite, Sapphire, and Opal as a potential playable characters. And then there are Mr. Reca, Screwllum, and maybe Stephen still in NPC jail. For 3.0 until 3.2, there will be two new males. We know what to expect. For WuWa, maaaan my motivation is only Scar, Geshu Lin, and whoever the heck that dude from 2.x. it is not enough. The last time I spend money on WuWa was Jiyan banner.
Yeah I'm expecting you to make an update video hopefully because the new area Rinascita expected to drop next year recently showed five new characters and out of the five of them we only have one male to four females... so the gap between female resonators and male resonators is even wider now.
I want more MEN men. Like i mean, big & wide, tall & ripped, burly & old with full beards, & scars all over. Maybe even a sumo gut. I love my cool & edgy pretty boy anime characters as much as the next guy but when it's done EVERY SINGLE TIME, it gets really old really fast. Yuanwu is close to what i want, but even he still feels pretty safe tbh.
he's all covered too, lol, i need a more exposed men like in PGR. but maybe Kuro is just working on their footing since this game is only several months old. i believe in them.
As a husbando enjoyer, I really want and NEED more male characters. Jiyan and Calcharo are both my husbands 😤, but they don't know it yet. Talking seriously, dude, the exagerated jiggle physics of female characters are hilarious. They are so over the top that it's funny as hell. I wish it were more realistic? Ye, but we can't deny it's something the common player want. But ye, I really want more male characters in the game, especially if they're grown up men just like Calcharo and Jiyan (well, Jiyan in theory is 19~20 years old, but you get the point). Unfortunately, its well known that female characters are a staple in the gacha genre as the best-selling units and it would be naive to think Kuro would prioritize more male characters over more female characters.
i agree! i would love to have more male characters, i don’t mind that the female characters are more common tbh. honestly the jiggle physics kinda bug me since it feels so painful to look at as a girl myself. i do hope they add depth to these male characters rather than making them the same type personality
@@av3_ther I think the general opinion among female players about jiggle physics it's a bit divided: some don't really mind it, but some even find it disgusting as it's far beyond realistic or stupid. As a non binary person attracted more to male characters than females, I don't really care as long as is not intrusive. Honestly I'm fine for now with Cal and Jiyan's personalities. The latter has an idle animation which adds a little more to his background story with his fallen comrades, and the responsability (with a bit of guilt) he feel being the general of Jinzhou's army. Calcharo it's like a father figure for all of his Ghost Hounds partners, and he deeply care about them while being intimidating towards anyone outside his social circle. Geshu Lin is the only male character that could make me abandon Calcharo (just a little of course), but for now he's my favorite character in everything. If Kuro decide to make more grown up men characters, they have my money guaranteed 😩
6:00 i second this. one of the only reasons why my boyfriend even played throughout version 1.0 (he never really stuck around long in open world rpg gachas in general) was heavily because of how much he loved jiyan's design.
I actually like that the characters look like they got most of their clothing from same/similar shops. Like, they definitely don't make their own clothes. Fashion trends should be big in the same region, with individual preference slapped on top.
Cbt 1 was better, shoot me if you want, but the way they introduced crownless, the 1v1, the cutscenes, the character reactions, felt so much more real and could actually be an amazing foundation to build a great story and make it feel more serious.
@@beestek.94 They hated (CN) that chixia pointed a gun at rover and yangyang almost at critical condition after the crownless fight. Well they can't self insert themselves in it. and they want girls to be infatuated with them in game because this is contrary in their RL.
@@yuu23163 Aside from that, from what I heard, the story doesn't make sense and is a mess. There's a lot of fetch quest. And just as what the other guy said, the people are still hostile after a proper introduction, and after helping them. That is very much realistic and unrealistic at the same time. So I understand why CBT players would hate that.
I expect the gender ratio to skew female in these kinds of games. What actually baffles me is that in addition to scarcity, the male characters that ARE there are constantly pushed aside in the story. With the exception of Jiyan helping us in the first chapter's penultimate battle and playing tag with Aalto for information in a side quest - after which both characters were immediately shoved aside - most major story beats focus entirely on the female cast. Additionally, all these female characters are depicted as being very affectionate to or obsessed with Rover regardless of gender, whereas the men (excepting maybe Xiangli Yao) tend to be friendly but more businesslike. There seems to be a focus on playing up that sort of harem-esque power fantasy, which is odd to me as PGR doesn't do that (though it has the different issue of EVERY SINGLE UNIT being head over heels for you to the point of ridiculousness). There are only so many games I'm not the target audience for that I'm still willing to play because there's something else that draws me in (I do actually play Nikke for the plot), but there isn't a lot in WuWa at the moment that makes up for how in-your-face they've been with the kind of fanservice they're intending to serve going forward. EDIT: I forgot Dr. "Infodump and Leave" Mortefi and poor Scar, who gets his teeth kicked in twice and then thrown in jail.
and i agree the jiggle physics in wuwa are weird as hell too. the best physics they did imo is for karenina scire and vera garnet. i wish they port it over to wuwa. but shorekeeper's jiggle physics on ult looks kinda nice tho. not very obvious unless you look into them specifically.
So basically they're listening and know that the chinese market don't want male characters and they're by far the biggest audience. Without male characters, there's the risk that the game becomes a pseudo-hentai harem master love cringe-fest, as it is usually the case with gacha games, and all the good things this game had at the beginning was nothing but bait. The story is already going too much into: Waifu pops-up, tells their sob story, MC saves the day, waifu falls in love with MC. They already changed the story so that all characters were more kind to the MC, Chixia pointing her gun to the strange guy coming from the sky was the BETTER approach, but it hurt some man-babies sensibility so they changed it. I'm sorry but I think we've seen the best Wuthering Waves we can have, and from now on it's gonna go in a downward spiral of rampant sexualization, cringe MC adoration and lazy writing.
for me its just that the fan service is too much, it feels like the devs arent confirent enough on their game so they default to fanservice designs and all female characters just being madly in love with rover for no reason at all
I think the world needs to know that husbando lovers can carry a series financially, right? Love in Deepspace is a good example. If game companies give their male characters an actual chance you best believe the husband lovers will be rolling. Also, who gives the games free advertisement with fanart? Husbando enjoyers. Who collects merch? Husbando enjoyers. Like.. bro. They don’t know their are sitting on a gold mine.
They need to either get rid of those god awful boob physics (boobs dont jiggle or move like that especially if the character is wearing a bra) or they need to fix them so that they look normal. They should take notes from HSR, Genshin, etc. for how boobs move.
@@bunnyx2819 IRL big soft bouncy boobs are jiggle very beautifully, and somewhat like jelly, if a women doesn't wear a bra. So, you either never seen real bazonkers in your life, or a girl yourself, but flat so you hate jelly out of spite
the fact that there's even an unoficial mod on game banana that pretty much turns off the jiggle physics (makes the bouncy bits follow the chest physics instead, as the creator aptly put it), in the midst of all the borderline hentai mods, means there really would be an audience grateful for a slider or a switch to turn it off completely
Also i wanna add something, about like.. the kind of "romance'' "tension" moments they do :x it's ONLY with female characters, the electro tall lady (don't remember her name sorry) saying good girl, the pinning camellya scene, the "love" with the blue clothes white/black hair (don't remember her name either :x) and zezhi annndd kinda shorekeeper too. Oh and the smeggsyness of clothing while male characters are like FULL clothed, and i mean not even a bit of skin not even the neck (the most we have is calcharo ult buuutt yea doesn't lasts long :x), just not equal :x and also if they made fello bewbs, why not jello mewb (man bewbs) or just making things equal x) BUUUTTT it's the begining :' ) i hope they'll have the "tension" and "romance" stuff with male characters too bc ngl i like that xD
The jiggle physics in this game contributed to me stop playing. It is so weird that makes me go like "wtf, am I actually seeing this sh*t?!" and then I feel like a creep for noticing, realizing that's the reason they are like that. For creeps. If I play, watch or read something that makes me feel weird for having breasts, I won't engage with it any further. No matter how good rest of it is, the feeling is just that nauseating.
1. More male characters please. 2. One of the reasons I like male characters is that I dislike how revealing female clothing is, and the jello is incredibly irritating. In a comparatively serious game like this it is an unfitting stupid detail and we all know why it is there and for whom... anything that will sell the product they will exploit. The compilation was ... eww, can't help it is so offputting.
I honestly love a couple of the female characters in Wuthering Waves, and their writing has been very enjoyable to me so far (specifically Shorekeeper and Jinhsi, as I absolutely loved the main story quests they were featured in and I think they're well written characters) and Camellya looks very cool to me, her and Shorekeeper's character designs are some of my favorite in the game. Though one thing I do understand people being annoyed/upset about is male characters not being as relevant and the way that it seems like a lot of female characters try to flirt with Rover, it's cute, but it can get a little tiring after a while. Though I think it also depends, I was fine with the implied romance between Shorekeeper and Rover because it's relevant to Rover's lost past, but other interactions can still be interpreted as platonic. As a person who's first experience with Kuro Games is Wuthering Waves, and comparing the treatment of it's characters to games like Genshin Impact, which is a game that treats both male and female characters pretty equally, I feel there's definitely room for improvement in the character writing and story overall. It's better than it was in version 1.1 for sure, but Wuthering Waves isn't that old of a game yet, and there's lots of potential for great storylines and characters that I hope Kuro Games takes advantage of. Lots of people are worried for the game's future, but I like to try and stay at least a little bit optimistic.

I definitely want the ratio to become more even because that just means there's an even divide of things to interest all kinds of players AND can serve as breaks for people who have specific tastes they want to stick to, which is only a net positive for the longevity of a game. Like people who explicitly just want female characters can use male banners as an opportunity to save up for the characters that they do want without feeling the temptation of spontaneous pulling. The issue I see arising however is, particularly in asian player bases there is alot and I do mean ALOT of vitriol towards male characters being in gacha, and Kuro has dealt with that vitriol first hand even. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratio currently is at least in part thanks to some of the "feedback" being actual threats against employees and risks of safety because a subset of the playerbase just wants the game to be a pure "waifu" collector or whatever. As for the designs, fashion wise I think it makes sense for overall aesthetics within regions to mesh together so I don't really have criticism in that regard. But I do hope we start seeing some more feature variety for both the men and the women. Yuanwu is a good departure from the typical bishy boy archetypes Kuro would typically use in game, his face has signs of age, he has facial hair and his face actually has a rather unique structure in comparison to the other faces in the game which are largely only differentiated by eye shape and colour. Like how you stated with PGR's 3 blondie boys... being real for moment, If I didn't play PGR and know they each had their own names, I would literally just assume they're all just the same person due to just how little difference between them there is beyond superficial details like clothing. But this in particular isn't a kuro specific issue, and more of an anime styled game issue because you'd be hard pressed to find a gacha not struggling in that regard.
Why do you care so much about male characters? You'd be better off worrying about the number of tall adult women, of which there are only two in the game, as opposed to lolis and anime schoolgirls. At least someone should ask the question - where are the adult women and why are most of the female characters underage? Get rid of lolis and schoolgirls and you get male characters...
My problem with wuwa isn’t just the lack of make characters cause i play games like path to nowhere and i am fine with as long as they introduce interesting well written women then I will pull the issue with wuwa for me is the lack of character interactions with eachother the lack of introducting characters in the story since 1.2 it just felt like we go on a date with 5 star character and its become repetitive and boring like how can the black shores update have more npc speaking than the actual playable cast we have shorekeeper spent more time repeating her love for rover than actual talking about rovers past the most interesting thing about wuwa story so far is unironically abby cause the characters are all empty and feel like they exist to be thrown into rovers harem and worst part rover isn’t written like a character to be cared about
Seems like many popular gachas are going back to the waifu collector type that was popular a few years ago. Genshin released only one 5* male in 2024. Wuthering waves only got 2male chaeacters after release with no male coming in the next few months either. And zzz also hasnt released a single s rank male character since launch.
@@HazZzel- yeah but still, those 2 are the first limited s ranks, and they only have one s rank male being lycaon i think. After these 2 we are getting miyabi and the idol faction which are all female.
@@glebscheglov9291 ZZZ had months of nothing but Waifu banners and it's still dropping, same for WuWa. Wanna know who's still at the top? Love and Deepspace, lol! But hey, if they think males don't sell, then by all means, they should 100% remove them altogether and go full Snowbreak coomer. Will save everyone the headache and disappointment and stop wasting everyone's time.
I totally agree! That's why I stopped playing Wuwa, because unfortunately it's weak compared to the competition. I'm more drawn to PGR to catch up on the main story. By the way, I think Genshin Impact owes its success to the male characters, because it wasn't a typical ecchi game for otaku, which encouraged many more players to play. Aether Geazer tried to repeat this and after a year they gave up and returned to their comfort zone. Which I regret because the plot really drew me in. I have no problem with female characters in games as long as they have realistic proportions and physics. But I have friends who will say - if there's no husband, I don't play.
There's always been a significant proportion of gamers who are reactionaries. Teenagers, alone in their bedroom playing games with sexualised female characters, can sometimes develop the feeling that the games were made for them specifically. When they get a bit older, and become a bit more aware of the world around them (in this case the large variety of games not made for them specifically) they get personally offended because, still feeling like they're the only true audience, it seems to them like someone has deliberately come in and changed things just to fuck with them (and their fellow GamersTM) specifically. This thinking is particularly prominent because around these gamers were teenagers, games were considered by most to be a thing only for teenage boys, and around the time they were becoming adults, people were realising that that wasn't true, that anyone could play video games. And so games were transitioning away from being pointlessly sexualised. They have a strong emotional attachment to the games they played growing up, they see that games made now are different, and they interpret that as a personal attack on them.
I think the problem here with that interview/words and their gatcha actions and male banners Let’s cut to the case the number of male characters is abysmal in terms of 5* limited characters compared to females If they hope to sell male banners then they need to make more males otherwise people who want male characters will just leave for another game or they will have all the resources to pull for these characters without spending a dime So the failure of male banners is of their own doing Oh and let’s list the limited 5* males who got released Jiyan was released with a very shitty launch of the game so much so that it was bleeding players it was an absolute disaster this isn’t the fault of the male banner character it was the fault of Kuro for launching a game that obviously wasn’t ready to launch Here is the next character Xiangli Yao who was *free* yes that’s it he was free what do the devs expect? Now we have had zero males released and only Brant announced If we go by 5* characters announced and released The 5* limited character ratio is going to be 3 to 9 so 1:3 but that isn’t all two more females have been leaked putting this ratio disparity even wider I am not someone that pulls solely for one gender I enjoy both genders but I will absolutely take my time and money to a different game that will have a better ratio of genders If this keeps happening the ratio will get wider and wider Kuro should have just made a female only game instead of baiting people with their initial more balanced ratio because I honestly would have never tried it They know what they are doing though and they wanted to bait players to play the game and then go back to making mostly females If they set their male characters to fail, then how can you be surprised when they fail. Their story presence is abysmal I want to believe that they meant for their game to be different and have more widespread appeal in characters but got cold feet after the reception of the beta in CN and we got stuck with this nonsense harem posse story
I am a girl and actually don't mind if there's more females character. Good for waifu enjoyer. No hate for them. But at least they can release "good" male character too, even if it's 4*. They not gonna go bankrupt if they add one new character. Those who want x will pull x, and y wanter will pull y. Win win solution. I got baited thinking this game will have fair amount of males and females because Jiyan and Calcharo. They should making the game focus only waifus in the first place, don't release male character at all what's the point. I want to contribute by spending in game like I did in other game. But they don't seem want my money so... Plus the story goes downhill after 1.2. Almost all playable women become Rover simps which is fine for fanservice but at least do it in companion quest. I feel uncomfortable watching their thirst and 'I fall in love the moment I see you. My whole world exist just for you' trope. Common harem gacha trope lol. I am the only man in another world vibe. It feels funny I can see Changli and Taoqi bobba, Shorekeeper lingerie outfit and Camellya white pa.nts, but not a single shirtless male character. They're seem struggling to make it fair for players enjoyment OR don't bother at all. But the game QoL is really good I admit, ahead of popular gacha game these day. Sadly that's not enough to keep me playing wuwa daily. I'm gonna open the game again when my fav come up to spend my hard earning asterites that I haven't be able to use
I already know that the day that Geshu Lin and Scar get released, Kuro will make tons of more money than they would with some female chars right now, considering how in for example Love and Deepspace the female players are going crazy for that White haired guy (forgot his name, sorry😔)
I don't think so. Will there still be enough players that pull for male characters when they get released? I don't think so. Most have already quit the game, I, myself included. A single male character once in a blue moon is not enough to make players return to the game.
I don’t play wuwa but I hope you guys get more male characters. Gacha companys need to stop acting like they arent worth putting time and money into because that is not true. Its similar to the lack of male characters in genshin which is a big part of the reason of why I barely play these days.
at this point I feel like one of the reasons calcharo is non-existant is because of the huge change from the CBT (since I do see him as quite a... violent-ish looking character) story and they reaalllly wanted to just have not-sephiroth revealed to voiced by sephiroth (yes, both are Toshiyuki Morikawa). Doesn't stop just how weird it is for them to release a character BEFORE their story, it usually is after (of which I do hope happens a lot more now so people can have more characters to look forward to that aren't currently on the antagonist's side).
Regarding Bust Physique, I completely share the same opinion as you. I hope that many people will send their feedback to Kuro Games, leading to improvements on this matter.
The MF ratio currently is not that bad imho but if the current pattern continues, then the ratio will be far worse down the line. 1 male > 2 female > 2 female > cycle - This is the pattern I'm getting and as someone who also prefers female characters, I can't fathom myself being a male orientied player playing this game if this continues. And even after looking at leaks, it seems it's not gonna be far off from this either. They didn't promise anything, but that doesn't change that the current ratio is bad considering they're catering for both audiences. The pattern is basically 4:1 F:M ratio. You could at least make it 3:2, but 4:1 is just so underwhelming. I'd consider the current character designs good. Looking at all the limited characters, I'm pretty satisfied with most of them. I haven't had any icks personally.(Except for the jello physics. Which imo in order to fix is they need to release a sliding bar for physics intensity and make the physics consitent on all characters. This sounds like a joke, but there's really no other option that will satisfy both sides. I don't like it, but I know full well that a lot would prefer it that way.) I like the route for character design that Kuro is taking. Although there is definitely room for improvements. They're good but can be better. Main Quests - 6.5/10 Companion Quests - 8.5/10 Cutscenes - 9.5/10 Overall, outside of companion quests, I'm not really that interested in the story. The cutscenes are amazing. There is a big potential in future patches for main story, but currently it's just okay for me. It doesn't interest me at all but I don't mind following up on them. I'm more interested in the companion stories.
I was a Day 1 player. The gameplay was fun, and the initial marketing made it seem like there'd be characters meant to appeal to all audiences. It was annoying how the female characters seemed to be designed solely for fanservice, but I was willing to look past that if there were some guys to look at too. Too bad it became clear that the gender ratio was only going to get worse. Ended up quitting since there's no incentive to support a game that doesn't seem to consider me part of its audience.
The thing is Kuro is a master for 3D design & gameplay we can see it from PGR and they have waaayyy cooler male characters than any 3D ARPG in the gacha sphere, they could have exploit that aspect and giving more attention to the male characters to distinct themselves from typical waifu-oriented gacha games If they worried about profit then they dumb and only play safe to become typical waifu-oriented gacha games. The mindset that male chars wont sell well just dumb because Female players have been playing gacha games in decades but mostly they are exclusive playing otome or male idol gachas BUT during covid their presence more prominent in general gacha games too we can see it with Genshin, HSR and GBF been showering with money when they releasing male characters that appeal to both male and female players If Kuro really cannot move to that way atleast giving us more male cast on the story like bro even Yhan got more fanart than YinLin on Twitter when the game were released, we just cravings for cool male even if them just forever NPC🫠🫠🫠
@wildannugrahanurdinsyah2797 go check danbooru instead of arguing about your gayass timeline dumbass. Yhan has 26 artworks under his name, Yinlin has 646

I dont actually think they are listening to the wider audience, I mean why did they change Scars design if that was teh case? His original design was insanely popular especially with western fans, if they lsitened to everyone then we'd still have Scars OG design isntead of his stupid suit thing
I personally didn't notice the jiggle a lot. But now that you've pointed it out yeah it is alarming. Ziezie looked particularly bad... I do think PGR handles it better and idk if it's too much to hope the game gets a jiggle correction patch one day but that Baizhi meme would be enough imo to make it happen. I think the ratio up to camellya is fine but absolutely stretching it. I'm hoping 1.5 or 2.0 will have multiple male characters. Also great to have you back!!
It broke my heart to see people getting excited about a false rumour so I knew I had to make this video.
Anyway: Which male character are you most hyped about?
Bulante
Geshulin
Definitely Geshulin, man's simply too badass
Geshu Lin
Geshu Lin. What a design!! hope they keep same English VA too - gorgeous voice which suits him perfectly
In a lot of games they give you a male and female guide tutorial character, but not here, kind of disappointed me to haved to wait so much to see a male character.
i feel like they contribute less than youre thinking. if chixia was male i really dont think anything would change about the character interactions.

WELL SAID👏👏
EXACTLY
HYPERREAL ONLY GOT LIKE 1 SFX SKIN and IT WAS A POOL ONE SMH 😢😢😢
The important question here is Kuro afraid of the failure of male characters? I need a convincing reason from them Being silent about why there aren't more male characters makes me think the game will be waifu only. Everyone was talking about him to this day neuvillette has been a huge success everywhere I think we male character fans left the game a long time ago. Maybe I will come back when more five-star male characters appear.

Don't forget wriothesley. People are STILL waiting on a rerun for that bakery and we are struggling to keep hope it'll happen..

I would agree to an extent. Kuro designs amazing characters, whether it be male or female. But Kuro needs to appeal to the overall market, if wuwa presented itself like love and deepspace then their overall market would be to “husbando lovers”.
"I like having the variety in both my roster and the game world/story because I find that it makes me feel more immersed."
THIS. this so much.
I hope Kuro considers that.
if you also pull females in wuwa then we aren´t the same sorry
@@sakutaro3musik486 I pull females, but not many. If there were more female characters like me (in other words, not half-naked sexy waifus designed purely for fanservice to straight male players) I would probably pull more of them. Still, most of the characters I enjoy are male, so...
@@MJDanvers Even then, characters like Camellya does fanservice well. Her entire character is a femme fatale who's very much mentally unhinged, along with having a fighting style reminiscent of Bayonetta. Sexiness suits her because it plays a purpose in telling a story.

It literally made me laugh out loud when i saw it
it's so juvenile. this is like Dead Or Alive 2 change the age to 99 for maximum jiggle (I'm a bit older lmfao) levels of foolishness. you really want to tell these players to grow tf up frfr. it's so embarrassing.
and it's uncanny at the same time you cannot jerk off to this at all💀🙏
I felt like I was talking to her bust half of the time it was so distracting, lol. Also a honorable mention: a lot of SK panty shots out of nowhere 😅
No matter what decision devs make - some income will be lost. It's the matter of what kills the game more - 2/1 ratio or 4-5/1 ratio.
It's almost like Kuro and Mihoyo took one look at the success of Love and Deepspace and thought, "hmm, now that husbando enjoyers have a game that caters to them, let's stop catering to them at all!"
I don't think I need to explain why that is a supremely idiotic move in business terms.
PGR is much better at building up characters months in advance too.
i think u are completely right characters need to be introduced ahead of time to build the story around them and hype before they are released
You need to give them that feedback NOW

been a calcharo main since the first week of wuwa being out..... i'm starved. please. i want content of my favourite character. i'm tired of just reading about him i want to see him!!!
(Thinking about what 1.0 could have been makes me so mad, grrr!)
Meanwhile ZZZ isn't even my type of game (aesthetically or gameplay) yet it has me curious about and rooting for even the most meaningless of npcs.
I'm not trying to take things away from people though so I say just add a physics slider so it's up to individual player choice if the bags jiggle like gravity applies to them or not.
yeah a physics slider or toggle
For all characters including male ones 😇
"male characters don't sell well"
That's a lie.
When male character will be our destyny or whatever
When male character will confess his love to us?
Or when we get male character that absolutely obsessed about mc have 80% of body exposed and moans for us in idle?
NEVER
Yes devs too afraid to make mad male players while we getting new female trowing on us her body each patch and should be okay with it.
@@MEITZUUU i dont really like hating on *harem* thing

but that never gonna happen even if this gacha for everyone, no way devs risk to make mad male players
All I read was that Wuwa is doing everything right and doubling down so it's time to throw another $1k at Kuro once Camellya drops. Woooo🎉🎉🎉
The only difference is she's a 4 star and he's a five star ✨

Yes, no question, absolutely, without a doubt, 100%, not even joking at this point.
Imo :
Writing = pretty much bad. It feels rushed most of the time, and it feels like they don't know how to make interesting characters or relationship without heavily including Rover and making it about them (fanservice)
Designs = mid, but 3d models make up for it (if we ignore giggle physics, they make me uncomfortable for some reason 💀)
Gender ratio = Horrible.

Exactly. It's like their characters and stories have potential, but they didn't know how to work it out while also keeping the mc relevant. It became kinda unbalanced and turned out to be about the mc where it shouldn't be to the point where it's affecting the characters' writing sometimes. There are exceptions tho like you said

Ironic. (I am still waiting for teasell, pls i want an androgynous playable man)
All that aside I'm sure they'll make their male characters well, many are likely just mad that characters with no foreshadowing and relevance like Youhou are released before male characters.
Youhou got 1 mention in npc line same as lumi(previous name as dengdeng) both is in 1.0 btw
Also the fact that most Kuro's female character are revealing more their skin and sexier to attract more male players who want fanservice waifu but they are not doing the same for male character just not fair
The argument "male chars won't sell well" is weird to use when the dev themselves are not really treating the male characters like the same way they treat the female characters

The reason why is just how bad the majority of the community treat the minority of the group... you want more male characters? they'll call you mysoginist.
Sorry for the sudden rant, but I just thought I really couldn't handle the chaos there
Fortunately I left long ago
How can wanting more male characters be mіsоgуnу??? on the contrary, the ABSENCE and much lower number of male characters is mіsоgуnу because it is WOMEN who want male characters in games and the developers completely ignore the female audience
@@Glory_To_Ukraine135 Basically:
Wanting more male characters = not liking the current female characters = hating female characters = misogynist

I'd love to see designs on similar level to PGR, more recent example being S Watanabe.
i want wuwa wanshi so i can go broke
Why do you care so much about male characters? You'd be better off worrying about the number of tall adult women, of which there are only two in the game, as opposed to lolis and anime schoolgirls. At least someone should ask the question - where are the adult women and why are most of the female characters underage? Get rid of lolis and schoolgirls and you get male characters
"Are the designs good right now?"
- Yeah. But like you said. More variety is better. I want to see more scifi-inclined designs than fantasy to be honest. Also different body models like maybe a sumo-type like grendel in warframe.
"Is the writing good right now?"
- Overall, still needs improvement.
Also, hot take:
I think PGR's male character designs are really good cause they embody the yoji shinkawa-like tactical design which makes the most sense in PGR's world. Closest female construct is Vera garnet and Rosetta that shares this design philosophy.
Hottest take. Lamia's design is too fantasy-ish for me. 😂
Please more constructive criticism videos like this!

@krishaesena8817 yup I want him to but them there's carlotta
The MC is so invincible at every aspect 😂 (expect memories xdd) even tho I really like the combat but the story is just 😔
but it makes sense in both jinhsi and shorekeeper's story that they will give rover that authority, now the threnodian's one i can understand as prophecy is one thing but capabilities as a leader is another especially since jiyan is right there as well.
@@bigchungus9615why are you responding to every comment criticizing the story or game?
lol, I'm not even asking for no fan services.
Thank for the good video once again!

ok, hear me out: the gender ratio is a huge problem to be honest
i saw on other game groups that the huge cast of female character in wuwa is actually what kept them to actually giving it a try, which is sad, the game is great but the ratio is what kept people to actually give it a try, they even call it gathering wife the wāifu simulator, which is sad really
your game can be the greatest game ever, but when its mostly / exclusively female characters you're bound to lock yourself in a small pond of fish, do they sell? absolutely, but that wont sustain in the long run, plenty game sells waifu and do you think those player can keep whāling on every single wāifu there is? no, the oversaturation will kíll it in the future and the bigger audience wont care to try a wāifu game to be your new fish, and think about it for a second, so much game coming out with more wāifu do you think those whāles just play one game? the market was already so oversaturated with wāifu gācha games :/
its not just about it being husbāndo or wāifu
the game/story immersion, just because you are used to see more anime game with female casts doesnt mean its good, dont you think when you go to here and there the cast was almost always female is, you know, weird? it not like the āpocalypse kílls off men (iykyk) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
if you gonna bring the argument that men doesnt sell, its actually becoming a self fullfiling prophecy, when you release one men every 3-4 months and expects them to sēll like hotcakes youre dēad wrong, the player that wants them (that didnt quít already) doesnt need to spend because theyre given months and months to save up ingame currency, also can we be honest with ourself that the men was not heavily invested/marketed as much as their female character? they just make men like some kind of tøken and expect it to sell out? even if good men exist theyre like a dime in a dozen like come on
- linyang has shít modifier
- calcharo was críppled before he can even run and got powercrept only in 2 patch
- jiyan man, i wish they update his animation especially his dragon because compared to jinhsi's his looks like it painted on, just because you wont notice it doesnt mean they can cheap out on him like that when hes the same limited as jinhsi
before you come and bāsh me in replies to just quit the game or i dont get to complain as f2p, first of all, i maxed s6r5 xiangli yao and jiyan, but im scared seeing the trajectory so far, after jiyan on release we got yinlin, changli, jinhsi, zhezhi and then a free male xiangli yao, thats 1 - 4 already, and after xiangli yao we got shorekeeper that has every budget kurōgames has to offer, the map, the lore, the marketíng, everything, 4* youhu, and the upcoming cāmellya with another 4* lumí, thats another 1 - 4 and i actually (sorry for mentioning lēāks, i know its not fixed but hear me out) saw the lēāks of rínascíta 2.0 is another female character roster with 1 male on 2.1 do you know what that means? its 1 - 6 that means if the lēāks were true the ratio actually got worse, and id be dāmned if the *4 that came with the male is another female, i love kurō and their game, i want to love and support them but being put on the backburner like this is.... sad, i cant help but to feel resentment being treated like a second class player, an afterthought, like the lore is really nice the game is very good like REAL good, actually love the futuristic/apocalyptíc concept but dont know if i can keep supporting with all these lingering dissapoíntment
you cannot get mad at us asking for more men when they baited us with men on launch, its to reel in us general audience, if you release wuwā like hōnkai at launch with all female cast no one would complain because we wont even bother trying in the first place
if you read all this and say then dont play, the game is not catered/for you, go ahead and gātekeep it, ālienate the gēneral audience, yeah the usual predominantly male audience will stay but remember there will always a burnout, the casual/gēneral player will see wuwā and side eye it calling it wāifu gācha, they wont bother to try, like, do you not want a wider audience to potentially spend on your game? do you want people to see wuwā and say, yeah its that wāifu game instead of what the game has to offer? theres a reason why wuwā got that big in the first place, it was mārketed as the more serious, more mature balanced game for gamers, imagine if they release wuwā as all female/almost all female character, it'll be another snøwbreak, another hōnkai, another chínese wāifu game, does it rakes in money? absolutely, but the oversaturation and burnout of female character wont sustain it in the long run, and i am not asking for 1:1 but can we not at least do 1:2? male enjoyers get to spend and waifu enjoyers get to rest
1:2 ratio will actually benefit both side, you as female enjoyer get 2 patch of female to gacha and one patch to rest/skip and let these male enjoyer to spend in return, both side happy, bigger audience will enjoy it, they probably get one patch of downtime but in exchange getting a wider audience in the long run to sustain, they will stand out more than any other gācha games, in the busíness prospective its good to diversifies your income than putting all egg in one basket, sure it will sell but in the long run? dwindling playerbase, whaler fatigue with so few new player as theres plenty of the same "wāifu game" on the market
and theres a lot of big titles coming out in the future if you keep the "then dont play it" or "doesnt matter/bother me" mentality goodluck keeping the playerbase in the long run / when those came out
"then put on surveys why are you complaining here"
i did, but i am only one voice and i am here to spread the message and help voice these concerns on your surveys also, it benefit us both.

I'd also love it if they made more unique characters. The world is in a constant state of turmoil and battle, yet every character is a 10/10 in a skimpy outfit with no battle scars or armour.

Honestly they seem to have balance issues in general. Like there's also so few 4* characters in this game. Barely any healers, like one or two shielders. Barely any support specific characters. It's mostly main DPS's that some can technically be slotted in as a sub DPS.

I play Lingyang. I don't care that he's weak. I may be a slave to the meta in FGO, but I'm not letting that happen in WuWa. I'm playing whoever I want.
REAL!!!!
I enjoy the characters so far, but here's what I want:
- I want a bigger balance with the male and female characters.

If a product doesn't satisfy them they'll leave, most times even heart-stricken because there's no live service action RPGs with male characters like Kuro makes them.
you say this but they changed scar's design after release. they can do it if they want to, imo.

The game slowly turning into Honkai Impact 3rd.
Wuthering female character waves.
Damn... I been sending them feedback to keep making the female characters into giga rover simps after throwing a months paycheck at Shorekeeper and her weapon 😂 didn't even need to roll so much since I got her s2 early asf but I still kept going in on that banner so they know to keep it up
Isnt that also what hoyo does?
@@bigchungus9615you really love riding the Dev's dick huh
now that the 2.0 roster has been released, honestly there is no hope 😭
For those who are still saving up for Scar, I just wanna say that you guys have nothing but my while respect for such commitment. I have been saving up since launch for Camellya, and even though she will finally be out from npc jail in around 20 days, the waiting is still painful. So I can't imagine how bad it might be to save up for a character that so far *doesn't even have leaks.*
(Yes I know there's out there people saving for much longer awaited character in other gacha games, but you usually don't see this commitment towards male characters.)
Also Radio talking about jiggle physics for a quarter of a video is such a blessing.
Yeah like the people that we're saving for Sunday in hsr or even dainsleif, capitano, dottore, etc, the male chars popularity is undeniable but the problem is the companies and their excesive need of money and the toxic part of the community (thoose c0*mers that defend jelly physics and keep fighting because they don't want males in their waifu isekai) really stupid
yeah the only reason im still occasionally looking at/opening this game is for scar.
And Luocha is still Sus as hell, this madlad bring the remnant of propagation that will make big impact in future events.

@@wildcrown340 The boob physics are gross and demeaning as hell idc
Why do you care so much about male characters? You'd be better off worrying about the number of tall adult women, of which there are only two in the game, as opposed to lolis and anime schoolgirls. At least someone should ask the question - where are the adult women and why are most of the female characters underage? Get rid of lolis and schoolgirls and you get male characters

Cbt1 prety much guted your motivation for siding with Jinzhou. Why help these guys when almost everyone is very harsh to you even after helping them?
nah, im with OP. It would be a satisfying payoff when we come from having no comrades at the start, to having the entire jinzhou at your back.
Meh. From what I heard, CT1 was a lot worse, with the crownless fight the only good thing about it.
As a male, I hate the jello boobs. They dont feel sexy. They feel silly, like I am watching an over blown cartoon animation.
Same! They look odd. Fake boobs look more real than WuWa's jello bobas. 😂

but shorekeeper's jiggle physics on ult looks kinda nice tho. not very obvious unless you look into them specifically.
Have you ever looked at mona from genshin?..
At least it'll save me the headache of not bothering with them anymore and focus more on other games.
Yeah with the new designs release we are cooked for good
for me its just that the fan service is too much, it feels like the devs arent confirent enough on their game so they default to fanservice designs and all female characters just being madly in love with rover for no reason at all
the jiggle is crazy dumb but when I am playing I don't even notice. I wonder why it's even in the game sometimes.
It's part or wuthering wifes appeal.
I think the world needs to know that husbando lovers can carry a series financially, right? Love in Deepspace is a good example. If game companies give their male characters an actual chance you best believe the husband lovers will be rolling.

the boob physics being all over the place has always been weird to me considering how much effort kuro put into their animations in other places
They need to either get rid of those god awful boob physics (boobs dont jiggle or move like that especially if the character is wearing a bra) or they need to fix them so that they look normal. They should take notes from HSR, Genshin, etc. for how boobs move.

the fact that there's even an unoficial mod on game banana that pretty much turns off the jiggle physics (makes the bouncy bits follow the chest physics instead, as the creator aptly put it), in the midst of all the borderline hentai mods, means there really would be an audience grateful for a slider or a switch to turn it off completely
Oh and the smeggsyness of clothing while male characters are like FULL clothed, and i mean not even a bit of skin not even the neck (the most we have is calcharo ult buuutt yea doesn't lasts long :x), just not equal :x

No matter how good rest of it is, the feeling is just that nauseating.
commenting post- Camellya drop to say why god why do they move like that. not even the itty bitty tiddy committee is safe.

I would like the rartio to be more balanced again. Kuro can also release new male 4 stars.
My problem with wuwa isn’t just the lack of make characters cause i play games like path to nowhere and i am fine with as long as they introduce interesting well written women then I will pull the issue with wuwa for me is the lack of character interactions with eachother the lack of introducting characters in the story since 1.2 it just felt like we go on a date with 5 star character and its become repetitive and boring like how can the black shores update have more npc speaking than the actual playable cast we have shorekeeper spent more time repeating her love for rover than actual talking about rovers past the most interesting thing about wuwa story so far is unironically abby cause the characters are all empty and feel like they exist to be thrown into rovers harem and worst part rover isn’t written like a character to be cared about
0:00 YES there are only 7 playable male characters 💀💀
Seems like many popular gachas are going back to the waifu collector type that was popular a few years ago. Genshin released only one 5* male in 2024. Wuthering waves only got 2male chaeacters after release with no male coming in the next few months either. And zzz also hasnt released a single s rank male character since launch.

I literally got an ad for wuthering waves on this vid, showcasing only female characters 💀
I think the problem here with that interview/words and their gatcha actions and male banners
Let’s cut to the case the number of male characters is abysmal in terms of 5* limited characters compared to females
If they hope to sell male banners then they need to make more males otherwise people who want male characters will just leave for another game or they will have all the resources to pull for these characters without spending a dime
So the failure of male banners is of their own doing
Oh and let’s list the limited 5* males who got released
Jiyan was released with a very shitty launch of the game so much so that it was bleeding players it was an absolute disaster this isn’t the fault of the male banner character it was the fault of Kuro for launching a game that obviously wasn’t ready to launch
Here is the next character Xiangli Yao who was *free* yes that’s it he was free what do the devs expect?
Now we have had zero males released and only Brant announced
If we go by 5* characters announced and released
The 5* limited character ratio is going to be 3 to 9 so 1:3 but that isn’t all two more females have been leaked putting this ratio disparity even wider
I am not someone that pulls solely for one gender I enjoy both genders but I will absolutely take my time and money to a different game that will have a better ratio of genders
If this keeps happening the ratio will get wider and wider
Kuro should have just made a female only game instead of baiting people with their initial more balanced ratio because I honestly would have never tried it
They know what they are doing though and they wanted to bait players to play the game and then go back to making mostly females
If they set their male characters to fail, then how can you be surprised when they fail.
Their clothes were made by the same person because they live in Huanglong 😂 See Blackshores' designs, they have variations.
exactly
I already know that the day that Geshu Lin and Scar get released, Kuro will make tons of more money than they would with some female chars right now, considering how in for example Love and Deepspace the female players are going crazy for that White haired guy (forgot his name, sorry😔)
Sylus.
I don't think so. Will there still be enough players that pull for male characters when they get released? I don't think so. Most have already quit the game, I, myself included.
A single male character once in a blue moon is not enough to make players return to the game.
Nah, what bothers me is the forced romance. At this point just call the game Wuthering Wives.
12:31 i enjoy both genders but i'm NOT eating it up lol, really need more male characters
Main Quests - 6.5/10
Companion Quests - 8.5/10
Cutscenes - 9.5/10
Overall, outside of companion quests, I'm not really that interested in the story.

The thing is Kuro is a master for 3D design & gameplay we can see it from PGR and they have waaayyy cooler male characters than any 3D ARPG in the gacha sphere, they could have exploit that aspect and giving more attention to the male characters to distinct themselves from typical waifu-oriented gacha games
If they worried about profit then they dumb and only play safe to become typical waifu-oriented gacha games. The mindset that male chars wont sell well just dumb because Female players have been playing gacha games in decades but mostly they are exclusive playing otome or male idol gachas BUT during covid their presence more prominent in general gacha games too we can see it with Genshin, HSR and GBF been showering with money when they releasing male characters that appeal to both male and female players
If Kuro really cannot move to that way atleast giving us more male cast on the story like bro even Yhan got more fanart than YinLin on Twitter when the game were released, we just cravings for cool male even if them just forever NPC🫠🫠🫠
@@abolfazlsh8260 Jiyan's revenue still top 3 behind YinLin and Changli, XY revenue low bcs he were given out free
Holy cope, yinlin gets more fanart in a day than whatever male you pick lmao
@@karew7051 you never seen NSFW Yhan fanart then, I follow male & female artist and Yhan got the most fanart first then YinLin follow on her release
@wildannugrahanurdinsyah2797 go check danbooru instead of arguing about your gayass timeline dumbass. Yhan has 26 artworks under his name, Yinlin has 646
Why do you care so much about male characters? You'd be better off worrying about the number of tall adult women, of which there are only two in the game, as opposed to lolis and anime schoolgirls. At least someone should ask the question - where are the adult women and why are most of the female characters underage? Get rid of lolis and schoolgirls and you get male characters
