There are a handful of people pretty frustrated about the recent companion stories putting so much focus on Rover instead of the character themselves. But with the flavor text hidden in the character menus there's so much more. A storyteller that players can run to could add so much immersion to the community

Camellia plants are associated with love, passion, devotion and desires. Camellya giving a plant to Rover and wanting to serve is who she is as a character. Shorekeeper is a keeper of secrets. She kept Rovers past a secret as per their request. It's only fitting for the 2 who act as the sword and shield for Rover to have a focus on them with Rover. Rover gave them purpose. When Rover left, one was lost and one was still carrying out her duties to the best of their abilities.
@@ParafrostV I can get that, but it feels very odd when how extremely rare it feels right now for the other characters to even be on the same screen together, its what made Verina showing up in Encore's quest so surprising to me, and it was a little cameo but man its nice to see characters interacting with each other! They're great characters! Kurogames does character interactions SO well in Punishing: Gray Raven that it just feels disappointing that (so far, this could change dramatically with 2.X after all!) most characters just refuse to even be on the same screen as each other, even when they're directly referenced or reasonable at the same place and could help like the Black Shores.
I am hoping that maybe some time in the future Kuro will revisit some of these character's stories or let them develop with us, especially these ones like Camellya where she really could use with some in game character development. I'm definitely going to be putting this into the player feedback survey. however the part in her last dialogue gives me some hope that this will be the case where she says "As for the memories we used to share, if fate decides to reveal them, they'll resurface naturally as we continue our journey together." And since we're finally going to be leaving to other countries hopefully it'll give them time to cook up more story.
Camellya is honestly such a tragic character. Even her attachment to Rover seems tragic, given Rover is just sort of.........the only person she can remember. I wish more of this had been in her story quest.

Camellya is definitely one of my favorite characters after doing her story quest. Shes fun to play and has good animations. Changli is my other favorite. Guess i got a thing for mommies and crazies lmao.
As time goes on I really wish WuWa would spend more time developing their quests further to include most of that Character Backstory into their actual Character Quests and while we're at it - I hope we get more quests in general. It feels like such a missed opportunity to release a numbered patch and not move the overall story forward in any way or tease upcoming characters and story beats that we can be excited for. Feels like a damned shame.
I loved the way they referenced Nanami and Haicma story... Everything on this quest showed the deep and complex reality that characters have and how they show how anxiety and emotions can take a huge toll on your mind
Yes, it's a real shame that we don't see that in the game. It's also a shame that it's reserved for those who pulled them. Kuro clearly wasted a lot of story potential there. These chapters could have been included as a flashback in the companion story. Rover would have hardly been needed in the story for that. Maybe right at the end, to get her out of her impending overclocking. There's actually still something exciting to discover. Camellya lost her memories once before she came to this village. What happened there? Hmm, I really hope we get better stories in the game soon. The fight alone won't keep people in it. Thank you for this insight. Unfortunately I lost my 50/50.
it's tragic that due to the nature of this game (and gacha in general) they're incentivised to write an entire character in a patch and finish their development there and then. Don't have this issue in more VN focused gacha like GFL, FGO, GBF, and even Kuro's own PGR. They need to drop more story breadcrumbs. Like, we're supposed to visit a certain new place later but there's 0 hints of it right now in 1.4, like at all. We just know it exists. I guess we'll be given a reason to go there that patch, without any buildup in this chapter. This video was a good attempt but honestly, still unimpressed with Kuro's WW team's writing so far. I like the idea that Camellya's psyche is extremely fragile and her seemingly only anchor on reality is us, the Rover. Still, on the meta side it's funny how she's written to be yet another character that is FOR YOU like, right after Shorekeeper. This (so called) canon waifu doesn't even show up in Camellya's companion story, just implied. At least she showed up in 1.4's "main story" I guess? In the Somnoires. Imagine being a newer player and reading 1.3 and Camellya's companion quest right after one another. Disorienting, unless you're really into ML and harems. And I see people giving that crap about "so characters can't show affection for the player without it being love now?". All I have to say is that I admire their ability to be wilfully ignorant.
