I always wondered what caused the new enemies in GoW3. I was so confused when I first played it and there were these glowing yellow creatures. Great video man, I loved it :)
I would like to argue that extreme weather is actually being caused by the Hammer of Dawn satellites. Gears 3 kinda had a throw away line regarding the Hammer. "I do, but the targeting system's screwed. Can't risk it." - Colonial Hoffman In the moment we have gotten use to the Hammer being increasing unreliable as the series went on and figured it would just disappear not to be seen again but the massive storms in Gears 4 are a direct result of the Hammer of Dawn. The firing of the super powerful laser has caused drastic changes in global climate and if you notice how the "lighting" strikes and moves across the ground it movement characteristics are similar to the fully functional Hammer's laser.
Yeah, I agree with that. If the storm was Imulsion-based, wouldn't it be yellow like everything else? The storm is clearly red and, like you said, mimic the hammer of dawn.
@@TonyRedgrave They also mention that the COG classified the source cause of the Windflares. Which means they know 100% what it is but they either can't fix it or they have no intention to fix it. 11:32 *gears4 footage* "though it is not able to infect humans like in its previous form-" *the following is roughly translated from a juvie* "am i joke to you?"
I would probably put GOW’s Immulsion akin to the Mitochondria in parasite eve in relation to the Locust 2.0 Basically Immulsion 1.0: we will take over everything, you humans have helped us mutate to success a degree that nothing can stop us. Adam’s light how gets turned on. Immulsion 2.0: okay, maybe we do need hosts, these guys were nice in the first place, we did a bad... Basically parasitic Spanish flu turned into the helpful mitochondria for a subset of species it mutated There are some species immune to the Immulsion, and even may feed off it so when humans caused it to mutate it may have killed off the koalas of the Locust environment as well as draining of the Immulsion and whatever impacts the Locust had in the hollow
06:02 Now how in the frick did the cast of GoW3 survive just walking past so much aerosolized imulsion? Not to mention the cave with flowing rivers of imulsion.
Marcus stated during the mission to Char "not as much as they were, they refined the stuff here" Delta Squad has been exposed to imulsion but not to a extreme degree
Oh man. I didn't know you got engaged! I only just joined the Discord. Congrats bro! As always, great video! It never occured to me that the Locust were pre-mutated humans, even though it was painfully obvious from the video in the second game. (SPOILERS) Your statement about the stalks being a form of reproduction is spot on as well. In the book 'Coalition's End', 2 dogs disappear and end up infected by the Imulsion. Not even a day later, Bernie, Anya, Sam and someone else (I think) end up fighting a dozen Lambent dogs that popped out of the pods on a stalk. So yes, the stalks reproduce like rabbits. And speaking of highly contagious, a farmer's prized bull disappears from his land and wanders to an area where Imulsion is found shortly after. The bull, only being in contact to the Imulsion for a couple days, goes full Lambent and explodes like your average Gunker.
I'm pretty sure the Sires are the original children of the Imulsion miners, and the Locust was created by splicing Human DNA (mainly Myrrahs DNA and stem cells) with the DNA of the Sires.
Imulsion could very well be a form of Slime Mold. Slime Molds are eukaryotic organisms exist out in nature, spreading and covering surfaces like rock, plants and wood. Normally they’re not harmful, though they kinda look like vomit. They eat away at decaying matter and mulch and are helpful in cleaning up a forest environment Imulsion could be a form of that, but it’s highly volatile and mutagenic. When it comes into contact with other types of organisms, it has the potential to damage DNA. Perhaps Lambent Stalks are actually plant life that the Imulsion has come into contact with, akin to roots on a tree? Maybe it could a radioactive substance too and prolonged exposure to the radiation it gives off can affect the health of any organisms near it. Ionizing radiation damages cells, hence why people exposed to dangerous amounts of it slowly rot from within, and people who aren’t exposed to as much radiation are prone to develop cancer. Imulsion could potentially cause this as well. (FYI: I saw HBO’s Chernobyl in case you were wondering about all that radiation talk 😂)
I agree with the illmusion theory. And I think the wind flare are not a natural occurence. I thought a maelstrom (the machine that caused hurricane around azura) or something similar malfunction or perhaps being taken over, could be the cause. I mean they had a machine that manipulated the weather namely by causing violent winds and are now strong wind storms are popping up all over the area. Just a thought.
If it does have feet for Roanoke to analyze it must be purged.... But yet Roanoke must analyze it in order to know how to purge it.... I am *CONFLICTED*
I’ve always thought the imulsion was sentient just from how it acted throughout the game; it didn’t behave like a wild animal seeking out prey; it strategized, planned its attacks, sometimes to the second, and deliberately participated in a number of battles, such as the Battle of Azura, behaving like nothing so much as a very bad smelling, but very well organized horde.
Honestly, I think the immolsion was once a super-sentiant being that went to far and ended up becoming a liquified version of itself, thus it went dormant and became a super invasive sentient bacterium-fungus hybrid.
Something I had a thought about: it’s possible the Imulsion isn’t just fuel, but rather an environment for some form of microscopic organism. These organisms may have evolved into some form of hive mentality and, when humans started using the Imulsion and, consequently, the organisms within, it saw this as a threat to it’s continued existence, lashing out at its attackers, thus creating the Sires, Locust and later on, the Lambent.

I'm kinda curious about the swarm from Gears of War 4 how they were turning humans into more of them and mainly how did the Locust and Lambent survive the weapon made to kill it/them. Also hope you feel better soon have good rest of your week.
While I get the intelligent part, I don't think it's affecting the weather. The swarm are covered in yellow crystals, so I'm thinking that the lmulsion just turned into a solid-state after the 'cure'. With the fungus thing, that could explain the 'hive mind' thing as the crystals could still have some of the priorities of the fungus and communicate in a way that we cannot detect. I'm more convinced that the swarm is a locust/ lambent hybrid of some kind.
Wow, he somewhat guessed the plot of the sequel series of Gears of War except instead of the weather, it’s just an evolution from the imulsion countermeasure with the Swarm
Those atmospheric storms are likely direct consequence of using hammer of down after e-day. Cog annihilated most of human cities, industrial centers and stuff. Wiki says that it took 5 days for dust to settle, so likely it affected overall climate and atmospheric patterns.

Yay Roanoke uploaded another Gears of Lore video (yes that’s a gunker video reference).
Could you do video about the locust/ imulsion turning into the swarm and anything from biology that would support such a transformation?
The Swarm was always there. Sires were the result of the Swarm's first attempts at converting Humans.
@@scowler92 the sires were the first locusts. The swarm is what locusts turned into after the imulsion counter measure

*gears4 footage*
"though it is not able to infect humans like in its previous form-"
*the following is roughly translated from a juvie*
"am i joke to you?"
That was a great analysis
I would probably put GOW’s Immulsion akin to the Mitochondria in parasite eve in relation to the Locust 2.0
Basically Immulsion 1.0: we will take over everything, you humans have helped us mutate to success a degree that nothing can stop us.
Adam’s light how gets turned on.
Immulsion 2.0: okay, maybe we do need hosts, these guys were nice in the first place, we did a bad...
Basically parasitic Spanish flu turned into the helpful mitochondria for a subset of species it mutated
There are some species immune to the Immulsion, and even may feed off it so when humans caused it to mutate it may have killed off the koalas of the Locust environment as well as draining of the Immulsion and whatever impacts the Locust had in the hollow
What if the reason so much is pooled underground is because the imulsion had previously consumed the overworld
You feeling okay Roanoake? Voice sounds a bit deeper than usual, great content as always!
This is literally everything I needed to know about Gears of War 1-3
I'd love to hear more about the Swarm and how they came to be come Gears 5
Exactly what my morning needed!
0:16 "Annihilate most of the population"
There is only 100,000 human beings left alive by Gears of War 5.
06:02
Now how in the frick did the cast of GoW3 survive just walking past so much aerosolized imulsion? Not to mention the cave with flowing rivers of imulsion.
You have to be exposed to it over a long period without interruption. Mercy was an Imulsion refinery.
Marcus stated during the mission to Char "not as much as they were, they refined the stuff here"
Delta Squad has been exposed to imulsion but not to a extreme degree
@@scowler92 so was Char
I like this theory, actually makes imulsion sound like Jenova from FFVII
Oh man. I didn't know you got engaged! I only just joined the Discord. Congrats bro!
As always, great video! It never occured to me that the Locust were pre-mutated humans, even though it was painfully obvious from the video in the second game.
(SPOILERS)
Your statement about the stalks being a form of reproduction is spot on as well.
Alex.
Great video really interesting
Sweet video. Thank you.
Sounds like the Phazon from the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
I'm pretty sure the Sires are the original children of the Imulsion miners, and the Locust was created by splicing Human DNA (mainly Myrrahs DNA and stem cells) with the DNA of the Sires.
the REAL villain of Gears of War
Imulsion could very well be a form of Slime Mold. Slime Molds are eukaryotic organisms exist out in nature, spreading and covering surfaces like rock, plants and wood. Normally they’re not harmful, though they kinda look like vomit. They eat away at decaying matter and mulch and are helpful in cleaning up a forest environment
Imulsion could be a form of that, but it’s highly volatile and mutagenic.
¿So the Emulsion it's like the Yellow slime mold? makes it even creepier that have some kind of intelligence.
Awesome video and theory! I was wondering if you'd ever do a Unitology lore video
Imulsion: if you destroy me I will become more powerful than you can even imagine
Seran: oh shit
Locust: oh shit
Thanks for this video it helped me understand the yellow stuff in gears of war series
Jesus Christ this thing is scary like seriously like the fungus out of hell keep up the good work bro
Gears of War has some of the best lore in gamimg imo
Something I had a thought about: it’s possible the Imulsion isn’t just fuel, but rather an environment for some form of microscopic organism. These organisms may have evolved into some form of hive mentality and, when humans started using the Imulsion and, consequently, the organisms within, it saw this as a threat to it’s continued existence, lashing out at its attackers, thus creating the Sires, Locust and later on, the Lambent.
Roanoke looks at anything parasitic: Yep, it's fungus.
GLOWING GOO !!!!!
Love your vids man, I listen to your lectures on the way to work lol. And I have an idea for some content... Morphology and Biology of Typhons from Prey (2017)
can you plz do a video of the locust crystals and the wind flairs
Sera is the organism. And the emulsion is its immune system
Hey Roanoke, you think you could cover the Spore Carriers from Fallout’s Vault 22? I just began playing New Vegas again and thought what you would make of it, if it wasn’t to close to what the cordyceps fungus in the Last of Us. Actually, there is a lot you could cover from Fallout lore, even without mentioning FEV.
Can you please consider doing an episode on the Ceph; AKA the aliens from the Crysis series? I’ve yet to find a video giving them a detailed analysis and believe you would be perfect for doing so. Keep up the awesome work! :D
Gotta say game ended instead of killed and I love it
I'm kinda curious about the swarm from Gears of War 4 how they were turning humans into more of them and mainly how did the Locust and Lambent survive the weapon made to kill it/them. Also hope you feel better soon have good rest of your week.
More gears of war! More gears of war!! More gears of war!!!
"Ah yes, drowning the Imulsion in seawater totally wont backfire"
Wow, he somewhat guessed the plot of the sequel series of Gears of War except instead of the weather, it’s just an evolution from the imulsion countermeasure with the Swarm
Those atmospheric storms are likely direct consequence of using hammer of down after e-day. Cog annihilated most of human cities, industrial centers and stuff. Wiki says that it took 5 days for dust to settle, so likely it affected overall climate and atmospheric patterns.
Wind Flares started to occure after the lambent pandemic
