    After 4 BMWs, I ordered a Boxster S with Duel Clutch transmission in July of 2013. The car arrived October of 2013 and a 2014 model. This has been my daily driver for going on 10 years with 88K miles. There have been NO mechanical problems, no rattles or squeaks with this car. As fun to drive as the first day it arrived. As a added bonus it gets up to 32 mph on the highway. Truly amazing car. 😊

    Love my 2015 981 GTS - as you correctly point out… it never fails to put a big grin on your face! Mine has done 33000kms, and I do all servicing myself. So far nothing major, just coils and oils.

    I really appreciate your videos. I have been a Porsche fan since I was a little kid and rode in my uncle's 911 Carrera (approximately 1978-1980 time frame). From that moment I knew I wanted one. I had my heart set on a nice 911 but my bank account can't quite support it so after researching settled on a 2014 Cayman S manual (absolute requirement for me). I love it! It puts a smile on my face every time I look at it and especially when I drive it. Your videos have helped me tremendously and have appreciated the education. Keep up the good work.

      I have a late 2015 and I recently did a PDK service, as I think 12 years is a really long interval and now is about half time down.
      I had this done at Porsche, because I did not want to mess with the warranty with this complicated service. In hindsight, that was a mistake. I got the feeling that they hadn't done one before, well, because neither 981 nor 991 are officially due yet. So the thing is that there are two circuits, one for the gears, one for the clutch. You cannot properly do the clutch without Porsche diagnostics, even the absolute dudes in the forums have that done at Porsche, who normally do everything DIY.
      Now, Porsche did not do a flush, but a simple drain, i.e. half the sauce is still in there. And as far as I can tell, they did not do the clutch part.
      So I would recommend finding a Porsche specialist who has a Mahle flush machine that can flush Porsche, and obviously someone who has done it before...

    I just washed my Pure White 981C and couldn’t believe how dirty it was. The white actually does bud the dirt pretty well!
    Put some grille guards over those radiators and on the side intakes-you’ll be amazed at how much crap accumulates on them.

    Not sure anyone has faced issues with front control arm. The ball joints go for a toss after awhile and u cant replace the bushings unlike 987. Have to replace the whole arm.... but small price to pay for the enjoyment u get driving the 981

    84k on my 981s purchased it with 74k. As soon as I got it I did a full service plugs,coils,belts,x73,pse and all fluids. Now I am doing full leather interior gt4 spoiler and side scoops. Sport mirrors.

    • @knn3th
      @knn3th Год назад

      GT4 spoiler and side scoops on an S? Why would you do that? It's an S, not a GT4 and people who know the difference, will know. Those who don't know the difference don't care... A Porsche Cayman S 981 is nothing to be ashamed about.

      I have the 981 2.7 and it's perfectly powerful enough. I think it even sounds better than the 3.4. And yes, the 3.4 is faster but does that really matter when you can do 0-100kph in well under 6 seconds? If you want a fast car in a straight line, buy a Tesla

    I like to remember the front tyres popping in the cold was basically an issue with the original Pirelli N0 tyres, while e.g. the PS4S don't pop.

      @@knn3th I just put some 5K Km on my new PS4S in the mountains and they didn't pop in chill conditions, but literally these days, as it gets colder, I heard them pop as well, after all... anyway, I am very pleased with the Michelin, though it is not a fair comparison to 6 year old Pirellis... I even legit off-roaded the PS4S for some 20 Km, because I had momentarily forgotten what the red circle with the white centre means lol. It meant this road through the Pyrenees still has to be built :)

    I do feel Cayman cabin is a tad too SMALL. That's why I bought the Boxster S instead, last week. And I am a "small" size at 1.68m. It's so "new to me" that I am still using the first tank from the Porsche Zentrum.

    • @knn3th

      Small? I'm 1.83m and fit perfectly well in my 981 Cayman. The seat isn't even fully backwards. I wonder how the Boxster isn't small for you, cause it's the exact same car... The Cayman even has more boot space (even more than a VW Golf)
