If you look at that throw against Ohio University there might be a handful of guys that have ever played the game that could make the throw that Bishop made in that game. Donavin McNabb and Bishop played each other in the Fiesta bowl, and Kstate won 35-17. They were by far an anomaly and not the rule. Both Bishop and McNabb were drafted, but McNabb was used more extensively as he was more a passing qb than running qb than Bishop. Bishop was also drafted to New England where Tom Brady took the starting spot right after Bledsoe, again, because New England favored the pocket passing qb. It was very rare to ever see running/duel threat qbs get drafted or used extensively the NFL at that time, though that seemed to be the start of the change of mindset. Not long after, Michael Vick came in, and with the success of him and McNabb, I think that led to more acceptance of mobile and running QBs.
